26. Locked Up, They Won't Let Me Out
• • • • • • • •
Yep, Ashanti was done for.
Totally done for.
There was no escaping this one.
She was locked up and handcuffed in the transparent tube for nearly ten minutes now, trying to call someone for help but couldn't as Kayden had been pretty much watching her the whole time.
I just need him to leave, Ashanti had realised to herself. Or someone needs to call him. I can't call for help while he's here.
Luckily, her prayers were answered when Shealtiel had called him to do something but she didn't know what.
Before she had called someone for help though, she had stared at the timer right opposite her, telling her how much time she had left to live.
Not long.
53 minutes and 47 seconds.
She had to make this call count.
It hadn't really helped much though as she was handcuffed, meaning that she couldn't have reached the phone that was right next to her, even if she wanted to.
But what Ashanti didn't realise was that her phone was in her pocket the whole time, so goodness knew why she was trying to get the phone that was right next to her when there was a phone barely out of her reach.
Come on, girl.
You're nearly there.
You're nearly there.
She was really stretching her hand out of the tube, where there were two circles either side for her hands to go.
But another thing that Ashanti hadn't realised was that if she had tried to escape for too long without permission, then she would have gotten a mini electric shock.
Which was exactly what had happened now.
"Tryna call for help?"
Kayden had walked right into the scene again, frightening Ashanti by literally giving her a heart attack.
When he had realised that she was trying to call someone using the black landline that was right opposite her, aka the one that she was trying to reach earlier...
He had snatched it away from her before reducing how much time she had left to live by ten minutes.
"What?! Bro, you can't do that!"
"I said if you misbehave, then I'll reduce how much time you have left to live my ten minutes!" Kayden had snarled at her, with Ashanti just looking at him as though he had wanted to kill him or something.
"And give me a death glare all you want but you should have listened to me. Like I said earlier. You're done for, Ashanti. No one can help you now."
Don't believe me?
Just watch.
Ashanti was curious to know how Kayden was part of the Sugar & Spice organisation. He had said he was, but that didn't necessarily mean that he actually was.
Plus he hadn't showed Ashanti any proof of that yet, hence why she was kind of suspicious about the whole thing.
Kayden had rolled his eyes at her, before showing her his phone, where there was a Whatsapp group chat with the title Sugar & Spice Underground Headquarters at the very top of it.
Ashanti was about to say something although stifled it when Tazeena had called Kayden's name again, much to his irritation.
Perfect! Ashanti had thought to herself again. Thank you, Tazeena!
It was whilst Ashanti had thanked Tazeena in her head that she had realised her phone was in her pocket.
She had just felt her phone vibrate because someone had just texted her and her phone had been on silent the whole time...
But there was only one problem.
She was handcuffed, so how the hell was she supposed to get her phone?
She had tried freeing herself from the handcuffs but it had backfired completely, causing Ashanti to sigh in frustration.
But she didn't give up there.
Of course she didn't.
She never really did.
Ashanti had watched enough movies and TV shows to know if someone had really put their heart and their soul into it, then they would have been able to break free from the handcuffs.
Yeah, she might as well have just given up because nothing was working out, but then when all hope was lost, Ashanti had realised some sort of very very very tiny button on the handcuffs.
Hang on.
What does this red button do?
She couldn't really have used her other hand to free herself so she had therefore used her tongue instead, and pressing the button with her tongue was way easier said than done.
The button had freed the handcuffs, but only one of them, aka the one for the button that was pressed.
So Ashanti's right hand was freed, and when that was the case, she had reached for her phone in her pocket- yes it was initially taken away but her mother had given it to her when she had gone off with Kayden, Thalia and Tazeena.
In order to make sure that she was safe and all that.
Her mother had texted her saying that she had hoped she was OK and that she was having fun, which Ashanti had kind of rolled her eyes to before texting her mum 'yes' back.
No way am I telling mum and dad that they're keeping me hostage like this.
I'll get into so much trouble and I'll never hear the last of it if I do that.
After the girl had thought that, she had truly wondered who she was going to call.
Kehlani was still mad at her and he had blocked her, so he was completely out of the question.
Kishati?
Ashanti didn't have her number and even if she did, Kishati would have probably blocked or ignored her too because she was also mad at her as well.
Kehlani had told her everything, but he didn't tell her that he had provoked Ashanti, causing her to start a fight with him in the first place.
Or that he had snitched on her for nearly getting herself killed on the mechanical bull last week either.
Poor Kehlani.
He just always has to be the stupid victim, doesn't he, even if he's not?
Of course he does.
Well, that was all of Ashanti's friends gone. She didn't really have any.
But then she had remembered.
Alsharafzi and Zonarosa!
When Ashanti had joined the group, she had added Ashanti in the Sugar & Spice Whatsapp group chat, so she had had Alsharafzi and Zonarosa's names.
I've just got to call them before someone realises what I'm doing. And thank God that someone has to remove the timer by ten minutes for me if I misbehave, as if it had done that automatically?
Then I would probably have like ten minutes left to live.
She had forty minutes and one second.
Yeah, Alsharafzi and Zonarosa didn't pick up.
Ashanti was seriously freaking out when she had realised that, frantically calling both of them like crazy but they didn't hear her at all.
What they were doing right now?
They had just arrived at Krondon Alleyway again, because Rihanna had hosted another Sugar and Spice meeting again.
Apparently they were going against their rival gang the Black Cobras to see who could have committed the most crimes unnoticed.
They hadn't decided on the winning prize yet but they would have done so when and after the so called "competition" was over.
It had taken a while for Alsharafzi to realise this but Ashanti wasn't in the group.
When he had asked Rihanna about this though, Rihanna had just completely disregarded the fact that she had sent Shealtiel & Kentrell to send Missy Elliott to send Kayden, Thalia and Tazeena to kidnap Ashanti.
"Rihanna, you can't just do that!" Zonarosa argued. "Double crossing Ashanti like that. How would you feel if that was you?"
Rihanna had just pretty much scoffed at that, telling both of them that she could have done anything because she was Rihanna and she was a celebrity.
Alsharafzi and Zonarosa had done the most shocking thing next.
They wanted to leave the group.
For good.
"Excuse me?" Rihanna bickered, staring them down in annoyance. "Who do you think you are?"
"We're leaving," Alsharafzi stated. "I don't care if you're my aunty or not. This is ridiculous. Goodness knows what you've done to Ashanti and if she's still alive or not."
She was, but she didn't really have that much time left until she had died (37:38) so they really needed to be careful.
And hurry up as well.
Rihanna had counted down from 5 as they had turned their back towards her, telling both Alsharafzi and Zonarosa that if they hadn't come back by the end of her countdown then they would have paid.
They didn't come back though.
They wanted to help Ashanti.
Which was very coincidental actually, as she had literally just called them.
