12. You've Just Gotten Yourself Into So Much Trouble, Ashanti

• • • • • • • •

Why?

Why, why, why, why, why?

Why?

Rihanna and her gang were literally just about to leave the room, however Ashanti had stopped her halfway by standing on a chair and pretty much yelling something at her.

"Just who do you think you are, huh? So you think because you're a celebrity now, you can just treat people the way you want to? That's not the way life works, sis!"

She was being rude to Rihanna because she wanted to join her group. Reverse psychology, yeah, but it had kind of made sense at the same time.

Ashanti had felt as though if she was nice to her then she wouldn't have been able to join her, but she didn't want that.

Ashanti just wanted to meet Alsharafzi & Zonarosa really, plus she was becoming kind of tired of Kehlani.

Plus she never knew: the people in the Sugar & Spice organisation could have actually been really nice people, but they just didn't want to show it.

Or they couldn't.

Rihanna had absolutely no idea that Ashanti was even talking to her in the first place as she was in such a hurry to leave.

When she had figured out that Ashanti was talking to her (especially after she had said the word celebrity) she had turned around, staring at her spitefully before saying anything else.

"You again? I don't think you know who you're talkin' to, sis. What the hell do you want?"

Everyone was literally staring at Ashanti and Rihanna like crazy now, because Ashanti was making such a big scene over everything.

She was literally the centre of attention again: she was in the middle of the room and everyone watching was surrounding her as if she was crazy again.

It was the craziest thing of all when Ashanti had shouted at Rihanna that she had wanted to join her group, with everyone around them gasping at her as if she had just asked Rihanna out on a date or something.

She could have barely gotten Rihanna's autograph, now she wanted to join her group?

What was she thinking?

Look, y'all. I think it's time for new beginnings. Kehlani, look. You're my best friend and everything, but God forbid something bad happens to you- then what? I'll have no one. I guess I'll have Kishati but we don't exactly go to the same school and all that.

Ashanti, they're not your friends. They're only out to take advantage of you, sis. They're not genuine. If they were, then Rihanna wouldn't nearly have killed you. Please have some common sense left in you not to go to them. They ain't real, sis.

Kehlani and Kishati were right.

That was what she had last said to her ex best friend and Kishati before she had left them.

Ashanti was absolutely crazy, man.

And she had just landed herself into a lot of trouble.

Alsharafzi had angrily asked Ashanti what she was doing, but Ashanti had refused to listen to him.

He barely even wanted to be a part of the group in the first place, so there was absolutely no way that he was going to let Ashanti join the group either.

She was just as bad as he was, maybe even worse.

Rihanna genuinely didn't know how to respond to Ashanti wanting to join her group, well except to laugh, but that was it really.

"You want to join my group? You must be having a laugh. You could barely get my autograph, now you want to join my entire team? You're killing me, girl."

Ashanti might have been doing that, but she wasn't kidding about this.

She wanted to join the team.

And she didn't care.

She had even said that to Rihanna, who had bursted out laughing again, before asking Ashanti why she wanted to join in the first place.

"I hope it's not because I'm a celebrity and you want to use me to gain popularity, because I hate that."

"No, no," Ashanti confessed candidly. "I'm not even that popular anyway, plus no one would believe me if I told them that I met you in real life. No disrespect to you. And I've always been a two person group with my ex best friend Kehlani, but I'm tired of that. I want to meet new people. Make new friends."

Yeah that had kinda made sense and everything, but...why here though?

She could have done it somewhere else.

But Ashanti had tried doing that (as in finding a new group of friends), although it wasn't necessarily the easiest thing to do.

Most people had just told her that she was better off with Kehlani.

And maybe she was better off with Kehlani right now, but she didn't show it.

"Riri, you gonna let her join the group?" Shaylana asked, popping bubblegum and putting her hand on her sister's shoulder. "Like you said, she could barely get your autograph."

"I like her determination to be honest," Rihanna smiled, forcing Ashanti to get off the chair before saying anything else.

"And fine. You can join our group."

Ashanti had widely beamed to that, before asking Rihanna if she had meant that for good.

By asking the word 'really?' to her.

Apparently, Ashanti could have joined the group under one condition.

When she wanted to know what it was, Rihanna had just brought out a book from her bag (it was white with a ghetto city on it), and according to the book, it was called:

How To Be Popular 101
Ghetto Style

And it was written by her.

There were ten contents of the books in general, minus the introduction and the conclusion:

Introduction
Chapter 1: Be confident
Chapter 2: Put yourself out there
Chapter 3: Find ya own style
Chapter 4: You've gotta take risks, boo
Chapter 5: Don't act like you don't care
Chapter 6: Be yourself - for real
Chapter 7: Give a helping hand
Chapter 8: Don't try too hard
Chapter 9: Get involved in your community
Chapter 10: Dos and Don'ts
Conclusion/Epilogue
Bibliography/About the author

Ashanti wasn't even really supposed to read the entire book of course, as the book was 367 pages long, but apparently, she had to focus on Chapter 4: you've gotta take risks, boo, and pick 3/10 things that she had to do from there.

She didn't know what they were yet, as she hadn't gotten to that page yet, but hopefully they weren't too dangerous and Ashanti didn't want to land herself into any more trouble than she was probably already in right now.

She was going to read everything though because a) it was by and from Rihanna and b) she liked reading.

She had a week to do everything, and she would have met Rihanna at the same alleyway of where the house they were in now was, at 5PM.

Rihanna had given her her number at the end, and then she had dashed off for good.

In the meantime, Ashanti was surprised and happy.

Very surprised and happy.

She had just received Rihanna's number (her real one) and she might have been able to join the gang that she didn't even know was a gang in the first place.
