- it's unedited because it's 12am and im super tired, but heres a quick update! -
"Oh hey," I said as I fixed my makeup. "What's up?" I asked Gilinsky over the phone.
"Wanted to know, if I paid a trip over with Johnson, would we be intruding on you and Shawn?" He asked and I laughed, lightly brushing some highlighter over my cheeks.
"Depends, what are you coming down for?" I asked him. He told me they had a couple weeks off before they got busy and wanted to come see Shawn. "No, you guys are fine."
"Is that Shawn's girl?" I heard a semi-familiar voice and I confirmed. "Hey, we met once, but I doubt you remember. I'm the other half of Jack & Jack."
"Blondie?"
"Yeah."
"I remember you." I said and laughed. "You tried getting Shawn to streak." I said and they laughed.
"I thought he was drunk, I didn't know he wasn't." He told me and I shook my head as I ran my hand through my curly hair once more. "Where you guys at?"
"Um... next stop is New York?" I said and they told me they'd be on a flight over soon. "Can't wait to see you guys."
"Don't tell Mendes. We're gonna surprise him." Gilinsky told me and I pulled my crop top down.
"Thought surprises were supposed to be good?" I asked and they gasped, calling me rude and asking how Shawn could date a monster like me. "Calm the balls."
"Balls are calm." I heard Mr. Mendes's voice. "How's my girl?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Got a couple of losers on my phone." I said and he looked at my phone. "They wanna know how you can date someone like me."
"Yo, why'd you sell us out? Man Shawn! Your girl got a mouth." Gilinsky said and I laughed as I smiled innocently.
"I agree with you there." He said, his lips against my neck. "Watch yourself babygirl. You might just get yourself in trouble."
"Yeah!" Johnson said and I laughed. "You tell her!" He agreed, but they didn't understand what he meant like I did.
"I feel attacked." I commented and picked my phone up. "We've got to go. Busy day ahead of us. Gotta go shopping for his next award show."
"Dude, we wish you the best Shawn!" Gilinsky said and Mr. Mendes thanked them. "Wish we could be there for you dude. See o boy win an award for the millionth time."
"I wouldn't say millionth." He commented and I chuckled. "Bye guys. Stay safe. Don't be dumb."
"You too Mendes." Johnson spoke and I hung up the phone, sliding it in my purse.
"Humble, aren't you?"
"I have to be." He told me and smiled as he kissed my head. "Let's go. We haven't got all day. I need you get you a dress."
"Are we going to match?"
"If you want to." He said and I shrugged. "We'll see. As of now, you need a new dress, made of only the finest material by the most talented hands."
"Then you better get to making my dress daddy." I said as he laced his fingers with mine. He laughed and shrugged.
"My hands weren't made to make dresses doll, but ripping them off is another story." He said suggestively and I felt my cheeks go red.
"I have enough dresses, very beautiful and ones." I told him and he hummed.
"Then I'll take you shoe shopping, or for a matching purse. I want to spoil my princess." He said and I nodded, following him out of the bus.
-
"I think this would go perfectly with the dress." I said, handing him a Navy blue and silver Saint Laurent purse.
"Didn't you have a second dress? A black one?" He asked and I nodded. "Are you wearing black or blue?"
"I don't know yet."
"Get a black one in case you want to wear black." He offered, and who was I to deny him?
I hummed as he chatted with the woman who asked us of we were finding everything okay. I picked a black and silver Givenchy clutch, humming as I looked at it, the only other one catching my eye being a black and gold Prada one.
When I decided on the silver one, I went back to Mr. Mendes, who was looking at heels with the woman. I went up to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. "My baby prefers stilettos over wedges." He said and the woman put the heels away, telling us she had the perfect ones for me.
I handed him the black purse and he nodded, taking it. "You'll need matching shoes for these too. Then we can stop for a quick meal before I have soundcheck. I skipped out on the studio today." He hummed and I widened my eyes.
"Why did you do that?"
"The people I'm writing with are irritating. They wish to repeat the sound I had when I was sixteen. It's been far too long, and I am far too mature, to sing about having a crush." He said and I nodded. "I'll go tomorrow, or tonight. Not right now."
"Okay..." I trailed off and the lady came back with a pair of beautiful strappy heels. She told me to try them on and I nodded.
"Do they come in black?"
"Yes sir."
"Please bring them aswell." Mr. Mendes decided and the lady left to get them.
I took the heels I was wearing right now off, and then strapped on these blue ones. I stood up and he looked me up and down. "Do you like them?" He asked and I hummed.
"Do you like them?" I asked. They were a little uncomfortable, but they looked really good. I walked around a bit and he nodded.
"We'll take them then." He said and I sat back down, taking them off. I put my other shoes back on and then held the heels in my hand as the lady came back.
"Hi, yes, we'll buy them." I said, as if I actually had the money to spend on all of this.
I crossed my arms and then followed him to the cash register. "Cash or credit?" The woman asked and hs handed her his credit card.
"That's a lot of money for four things."
"It's alright babygirl, I've got you." He said and winked at me. I nodded as the lady hummed as she bagged the items in bags that corresponded to what brand each item was.
I took them and Mr. Mendes put his card back in his wallet. "Have a wonderful day." She told us and I repeated it to her before leaving.
"I can't wait. You'll look absolutely gorgeous." He said and I blushed a bit at his compliment.
"How do you know?"
"You're a beautiful woman Ms. Ramirez." He said and we walked around as he put a pair of sunglasses on. "Even the blind could see."
"Technically, they blind could not see for their eyes don't function properly and cannot send images to the brain. So they would not be able to tell a beautiful woman from a slightly less attractive one. They'd have to base their beauty off personalities and voices." I said and he looked at me.
"I suppose you're correct, but I was speaking in metaphors my love." He told me and I blushed as I shrugged my shoulders slightly.
"I was aware."
"Then that literal explanation to belittle me into feeling uneducated was not necessary in the slightest." He spoke again and I felt bad. I didn't mean to make him feel that way.
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright." He gave me a tight smile and we entered a small little café.
I hummed softly as we sat down at a table and then my phone rang. I pulled it out and it was Kiara calling. "Do you mind?" I asked and he shook his head.
I answered the call and there was a loud scream. "You're dating your boss?" She screamed at me and I held my head.
"No KiKi, he's not my boss exactly..."
"What do you mean Moni? Is he just your boyfriend?" She asked and I chewed on my bottom lip.
"Yeah, he's my boyfriend. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I didn't want you to get worked up." I breathed out and Mr. Mendes glanced at me.
"Girl, if you would have told me dressing the way you did would get you a crazy hot boyfriend, I would have done the same! Jonah who?" She asked and I rolled my eyes as I laughed lightly.
"Shut up KiKi, you're dumb." I said and a waitress was coming our way. "I've got to go, I'm sorry. I'll call you later on?"
"You better, if you don't, I'm flying my ass to his next show and beating yours." She told me and I smiled. "I love you Moni, talk too you later."
"I love you too KiKi, bye babe." I said and then hung up. I put my phone between my thighs and Mr. Mendes asked if it was Kiara. "Yeah, the one and only."
The waitress asked for our drinks and I just got a sweet tea. Mr. Mendes settled for an ice water and I tapped my fingers on the table. "What did your friend want?"
"She asked about us. I said we were dating and you weren't my boss. She thought I for the job because I told her so. I didn't want her to get suspicious." I told him and he nodded.
"You can't tell her about this. Only we can know." He told me and I nodded.
"I know." I said, wondering why he was treating me as if I was dumb. I knew this. I agreed to this before.
I shrugged it off, thinking he just forgot, and checked my watch. I looked at him, and I wondered why this silence felt more awkward than any other silence we were ever in.
