Chapter Nine

I woke up too early, shifting comfortably in bed as I cuddled into Mr. Mendes. His arm was wrapped around me tightly, our legs tangled under the hotel blanket. My head was buried in his chest, and his chin was on top of my head.

The only reason I woke up was because of his alarm that was blaring, but it didn't seem to wake him up.

I shook him a bit and he just hummed softly, a sign he was up but not fully awake. "Mr. Mendes, you gotta get up." I said and his lips just curled into a small smile.

"Kiss?"

"Don't even ask." I said and he shrugged as I gave him a kiss. We didn't get too into it, morning breath being the reason why.

He turned his alarm off and then pulled away. "Get dressed doll, you're coming with me." He told me and I nodded. "You can shower with me too if you want."

"Isn't it too early for sex?"

"Never." He answered and I rolled my eyes. "Come on babygirl." He told me and I pushed him back on to the bed as he sat up.

"I took a shower before bed, have fun." I said and winked at him. He laughed and told me next time, which I just shrugged.

"Okay, I really gotta get up now doll." He said and I sat up. I got up too, dressed in only his boxers, and he laughed. "A sight for sore eyes."

"The only eyes this is for is you, so feel special." I said and he told me that he does.

I put my hair into a messy bun before opening my suitcase, grabbing a pair of underwear and a bra from it. I dropped the pair of briefs I was wearing, quickly changing into my own underwear.

"Where am I even going?"

"First we're getting coffee, second to soundcheck." He answered and I nodded. I grabbed a pair of black jeans and a red lace tank-top.

I quickly pulled the articles of clothing on, the delicate lace soft against my skin. Of course it covered my chest, but the rest was slightly transparent, hugging my body the right way. I tucked it in and then threw a leather jacket on the bed to put on when I finished getting dressed.

I heard the shower start running and I opened the door to the bathroom, seeing the curtain closed. "I'm gonna fix my make-up." I said and he told me to go ahead.

I washed my face and then patted it dry slightly as I yawned softly. I started with primer, going up to foundation, concealer, and then my eyebrows.

As I was filling them in slightly, I heard singing come from the shower. I smiled to myself and looked at the shower briefly in amusement. "5 Seconds of Summer?" I asked.

"The song is catchy!"

"You're such a fangirl."

"Shouldn't you be doing your makeup, not criticizing what I sing in the shower?" He asked and I just shook my head as I put down my eyebrow pencil and brush. I began my eyeshadow and eyeliner, keeping it light since we weren't doing anything too major.

Not that it mattered honestly. I just didn't see soundcheck as a reason to go super glam.

By the time I finished, my last touch being a matte red lipstick I just got recently, the shower curtain was sliding open and revealing Shawn's naked body. "You look good." He said and I laughed.

"I could say the same to you." I told him, closing my tube of lipstick.

"I don't have anything on."

"Exactly." I pointed out and he grabbed a towel. He wrapped it around his waist and stepped out of the tub.

"Is that lipstick new?" He asked and I nodded. "I like it." He told me and I smiled.

"I'll wear it more often then." I said and he gave me a kiss.

-

"Thank you for the coffee." I said and the security guard just shrugged as I took a drink. I sat on a chair in the audience as Mr. Mendes rehearsed a couple of songs that had his fans crying.

The girl next to me was in tears. I wasn't kidding. I wish I was kidding.

I just gave her a side hug and offered her as soft smile. I kind of understood why she was crying. Maybe the realization that her idol is real hit her harder than she expected. Or maybe the song is old?

Something about showing someone he can do what he wants to. It sounded like a song you'd write after your parents got mad at you.

I laughed to myself and took a drink of my coffee. It was my second cup today actually, and I doubt it'd be my last. I was getting exhausted from his fans pestering me if we were dating or if I've had surgeries done.

Either I'm too pretty to be real, or to ugly to be real. Both being plausible.

I crossed my legs and Mr. Mendes glanced over in my direction, smiling at me and turning his body this way as he played guitar. His fans no doubt followed his eyes, and suddenly, a majority of them were looking at me.

And as quickly as they looked at me, they looked away.

I smiled back and then held my cup on my lap as I tapped my foot to the song. It was kind of catchy? I liked it.

I hummed along softly, my contribution short lived as girls behind me told me to be quiet so they could hear him. "I'm sorry." I said and took a drink of my coffee.

I rolled my eyes as they whispered about me and I sat up straight, watching as Mr. Mendes put his all into his performance. His eyes were squeezed shut as he swayed side to side, playing his acoustic guitar and nearly making out with the microphone.

I'm always so jealous of inanimate objects.

-

"You did great up there tonight." I said and smiled at Mr. Mendes. He thanked me and ran a hand through his hair. "Your performance of Ruin was amazing, especially."

"You're sweet babygirl." He said and I couldn't help but blush as he gripped my hip tightly. "You're coming with me to a dinner doll."

"Am I now?"

"You are." He said and smiled, revealing his pearly whites. "It's nothing too big, us and some of my friends."

"Alright." I agreed and he gave me a kiss. He held my jaw gently and smiled against my lips.

"Dress pretty babygirl, I wanna show you off." He told me, pulling away. He gave me a wink and I laughed as I nodded.

"Always for you." I told him, my finger tracing his collarbones through his shirt. "What time?"

"Six."

"Well, it's four right now. Wanna take me back to the hotel room?" I asked and he laughed when I smiled suggestively.

"You are insatiable." He commented and I shrugged. "Let's go. I want to take a shower before we go tonight." He said and I agreed.

-

I held his hand tightly as we walked into a restraunt, a couple of paparazzi standing outside the door for him. I ignored them, keeping close to Mr. Mendes and my gaze down at the concert floor that lead up to the building.

We walked inside and the flashes were still visible, but their questions were silenced, and I was thankful for that. We went up to the receptionist and he smiled politely at us. "Reservations?"

"Mendes. We're here to meet up friends who came before us." He answered and she checked for his name. She nodded and grabbed two menus as she led us to a table.

"Shawn!" His friend said and stood up. The two shared a hug, and a light laugh, until his eyes land on me. "Hey, who's this firecracker right here?"

"This is my girl, Monica. Monica, meet Cameron, or Cam." He said and I went for a handshake while he went in for a hug. "Anyone else here yet?"

"No, I felt like a loser sitting here alone." He said and kept his arm around me and by his side.

It was quite weird, but I didn't really question it. Mr. Mendes didn't either. I just akwardly shifted and looked around.

"Come on, let's just order without them." Cameron said and Mr. Mendes shrugged as he sat down at the table.

I sat beside him, and soon felt his hand hold my thigh tightly. He clearly didn't like his friend touching me like that. "Wine? Or should tonight be clean?" Mr. Mendes asked and his friend just looked at me.

"Up to the lady." He said and smiled at me. He didn't seem harmful, just a little too polite.

"Yeah, no one's driving right?" I said and the two agreed. "We got drivers and all..." I said and soon someone else approached the table.

"Jack!" Cameron said happily and gave the dark haired boy a hug. "Where's Johnson?"

"Out with his lady." He said and I felt a little intimidated by all the guys here. Mr. Mendes seemed so too, his hand tightening on my thigh a bit. "Hey Shawn, who's your girl?"

"This is Monica." He said and I gave a snalll wave as he smiled. "Anyone else coming?" He asked and Jack shrugged.

"Don't think so." He said and Shawn nodded. "Glad you're both in town, I haven't seen you in awhile." He said and sat beside Cam.

"Been busy working man." Cam said and Mr. Mendes agreed. "Mr. Billionaire over here. You have a record label, headlined arena tour, and hundreds of magazine covers? Little Shawn is getting money."

"Not little anymore. He's a man now." Jack said and Mr. Mendes laughed as he scratched the back of his neck.

"Are we really going to talk about work? We hardly see each other. Come on." He offered and Cam asked me what I did as an occupation.

"I used to work at a family ran café." I said, not entirely lying. I helped out, but I never worked there. "I baked and cooked."

"She's perfect Shawn. Don't let her go." Cam said and I felt a little hurt. I cooked and baked, and that makes me perfect? Pretty sterotypical...

"I'm not." He said and I blushed as a waiter came around. He asked us for our drinks, and Cam told him to bring us whatever wine was most popular.

"Of course. Appetizers?" He asked and Mr. Mendes said that we were still looking. "Take all the time you need. I'll be back with your drinks."

"Thank you." I said and he gave me a nod and a smile. There were so much smiling tonight.

The hand Mr. Mendes had on my thigh trailed up higher slowly and he talked to his friends about meeting up more often. Cam offered a party soon, but he seemed too interested in the idea.

"What are you doing?" I asked Mr. Mendes quietly as his friends argued over a party. He leaned back and laughed.

"Nothing." He told me and I rolled my eyes. "Monica loves the idea of a party Cam. Think you can get one going before I leave town?" He asked and the brunette nodded quickly.

"Of course I can." He said and laughed. "Will you be able to make it?" He asked and I nodded as I took a drink of my ice water.

"Of course, if you want me to be." I said and jumped slightly as Mendes's hand slid under the underwear I had on.

"You alright?" Jack asked and I nodded, gripping the edge of the booth.

"Just got cold when the door opened." I said and he nodded as Mr. Mendes's hand left my body.

He took his leather jacket off and put it over my shoulders. I thanked him and his hand was right back where it was. "Better?" He asked and I nodded, putting my arms through the sleeves.

"Yeah..."

"Shawny boy really did grow up." Jack teased and I blushed as the other two just laughed.
