Prompt - A year had changed things. The virus spread like wildfire. The only thing that kept them safe were the walls that kept them in, while keeping others out.

(A/N - so this is longer than usual. So firstly there are a few, okay a lot, of time skips because I didn't want to drag the story on. Secondly I did my best to put it into paragraphs but my laptop doesn't work so I typed it on my phone so I apologise if it's all over the place. Please enjoy and let me know what you think x
Also it's my birthday tomorrow, in less than 18 hours (yeesh im old now) so who knows maybe more updates if it's a good day ♡)

Jungkook was panting trying to inhale deep breaths and breathe easily again. He looked up catching a certain orange haired hyungs gaze. They stared at each other before the other reached out shoving his shoulder playfully, "Shit Kook we were almost caught." Jungkook picked up the duffel bag and checking it's inventory. He looked up again grinning, "But oh so worth it. We got lucky with this find. Food that can last everyone a week, fresh water, some clothes and medicine." Now that they had the medicine they could treat the many people that are ill. He hoped the return journey quick and they would made it in time. They had already lost a few dozen people to whatever was going around. They weren't that large of a group to begin with. You're probably wondering what exactly was going on? Why they had to practically steal to keep themselves alive. He would have to start from the beginning.

It had been a fairly warm afternoon. Jungkook had been playing football with a few friends from school. He was just after turning eighteen. He should still be in his second year of college but the world was changing and not in a good way. His best friend Jimin had an appointment and it would be some time before he returned home. Jimin had lost his parents at a young age in a car accident. He ended up moving in with Jungkook and his father. Their other best friend Taehyung, well who knows where he was. Him, his older brother and his parents had packed up and moved without a word.
It was warm. Warmer than usual. Usually at this time of year it would have already be cooler. However today seemed to be an exception as he sun was almost blinding. It wasn't too easy to stay playing when he could hardly breathe with the heat. Calling the game quits he made his way to the small house he called home dejectedly. Sitting on the porch beside his father they listened to the small radio. His father looked worried. He let out a sigh locking gazes with his son, "Something's happening Kook. Something bad. Multiple small towns and villages wiped out by an incurable sickness. Once it enters the bloodstream you have barely and hour before it kills all your oxygen cells and eventually you. The government are playing it off as something us outsiders have been tampering with. It gets closer and closer. I'm starting to think we should move. Further north towards the city. It would be safer, more medicines. Get past the wall. If we stay a lot of people will die. A lot of people know this but ignore it in hope it will go away." They had been told in school of the illness spreading. To take precaution and increase hygiene and health checks. It was a fast illness. No one knew it was coming until your body would hit the floor, body convulsions and blood coming from your nose, mouth and ears. Almost as though it killed your brain. It was quite gruesome to think about.
A week later he was in the middle of packing when the inevitable happened. Shouts from outside his home from the town people. Scared and horrified shouts. Deciding to check it out he put down the current photo frame he was about to add to the box and went outside. A crowd was formed around something. Not being able to see past the amount of bodies in the way he began to shove his way through. A blur of orange stopped him from continuing. He frowned, "Hyung?" Jimin shook his head, "You don't want to look Kookie. It's, It's your father." His eyes widened. Shoving past the remaining people in the way he dropped to his knees. His father laid face down. However you could see the blood pooled around him by his face. Tears filled his eyes. This couldn't be happening. They were supposed to move and be safe, together. Reaching out he shifted the body so it was now face up. Blood came from his ears, nose and mouth. The illness had reached their town. People panicked. Getting away from the body. Afraid being near it would pass the death onto them. Jimin stepped forward placing a hand on his shoulder, "I'll get us a stretcher. We'll bury him before nightfall. In the back garden." They would still be leaving. It wasn't safe. He nodded in understanding and while Jimin set off to get a stretcher he waited. He sat beside his father in silence. He wiped away the tears that had fallen. His father would always tell him not to cry over death. Death is a part of life. That when he passed to celebrate the life he had and keep the memories. When Jimin returned they brought him to the small garden at the back of the house. His father had loved to plant different flowers. Ones that most people didn't. Hey always bloomed beautifully and the colours making the garden look like a meadow. Getting to work both males took a shovel each and began to dig. Not speaking a word between them. They listened to the shouts. More people were dying. When the hole was big enough they lifted the body into it. Jungkook knelt beside it sending a silent goodbye. He removed the locket his father always wore and put it around his own neck before standing back up. They covered the body with a sheet before scooping the already dug dirt back onto the body. After they finished there was barely a trace of what they had just done. Jimin handed him a stone. He motioned to the large rock that was situated just above where they had begun digging. Understanding he carved his father's name and the year he was born and the year he passed. Jimin picked a flower from the garden, his father's favourite, and placed it on the stone.
They had returned back inside the house. Agreeing that they would only take what was needed. So leaving the boxes they filled a backpack each. With food, water, clothes and small personal items. Jungkook had put in an old photo album. It contained photos of both of their families from when they were younger to them now. There was a particular photo he loved. It was the one of himself, Jimin, Taehyung and his father. His father being tackled by them. He hopes wherever their friend is that he is safe and away from all the sickness. He also put in a rabbit teddy that his mother had given him when he was a baby before she was taken from him by cancer. They set the bags by the door so it would be easier to leave with them. Each showered before sleeping deciding to share one bed. Facing each other in the darkness. Jimin watched him, his head resting on his arm, "We're really doing this aren't we?" Jungkook nodded, "We are. I wonder what will happen when we get there. To the city." Jimin nodded, "Me too. Goodnight Jungkookie." Shuffling closer he breathed out a tired response, "Night Jiminie."
The following morning they had dressed and left straight away. The town they grew up in was falling apart. While sleeping more than half of the citizens living there had passed from the illness spreading. With one final look back they began their journey to the city. The city itself would take two-three weeks to get to on foot. It was well hidden and protected. Walls high built in a dome shape. The city was quite large, populated just under half a million people. It was like it's own world.

Now here they were a year later. Jungkook being nineteen now and Jimin twenty one. They had made it to a town just outside the city. The people kind and opened their homes to the two young strangers. When they had mentioned the city people became hostile. After time they learned why. The city rarely let people in. If you tried there was a chance you would be killed. Especially if you had the virus inside you. They scanned you and if you were clear you had a chance. There were ways in, secret passages and ways to get past security but without a identification card you were screwed. To use different things you had to scan a keycard with showed your citizenship.
A year had changed things. The virus spread like wildfire. Millions dead and barely surviving. Food, medicine and other necessities scarce. Electricity and heating no more. Showers taken in man made ones that one village woman had kindly shared her knowledge of making. Water gotten from the river nearby. Jungkook had spent days figuring out a way for them to help many people who were sick from other illnesses and starving. He would go to a certain hole in the wall where there are no cameras and examine the scanner and it's wires. After some time he became brave enough to start poking at it and we'll he succeeded. He could turn the thing off giving them access to enter without being caught. With another bit of tampering with it he added a timer so it would encourage them to hurry and not get caught. Every day for an hour it would shut off at the same time. Just after four pm. Him, Jimin and another young male by the name of Hoseok tasked themselves with sneaking in to gather supplies. The first few days they watched. To get a sense of their way around and what certain places to avoid. Fortunately the second day they came across people talking about new supplies being shipped in. After listening they discovered the supplies came in ever second week at the same time on a Sunday. Being quiet as possible the sneaked into the building through as back entrance that didn't need key card access. Holding their breaths they made it in. Taking a small supply, only what they needed, they returned to the village with their findings. People praised them and they got to work. Jimin and Hoseok giving out food while Jungkook tended to the sick. He had been in his second year of becoming a doctor and knew quite a lot about how to treat people. After much discussion they agreed the three of them would make it a routine of entering the city through their secret entrance to get supplies. It was stealing they knew but people were suffering. They only took minimum of what they needed. It had been almost eight months seven months since they began.

For a while things were okay. People getting on with their lives trying to be as normal as possible. It seemed the people left in the world had a sort of immunity to the virus that had killed so many. Jimin and himself included. He wondered sometimes why they were so special. He counted himself lucky however that he at least had the other by his side. Hoseok had become a fast friend. He reminded them of Taehyung. Being that he too was bubbly and always doing his best to smile and make others smile too. He lost his sister and mother to the sickness. His father burdened by their deaths had committed suicide leaving the brunette alone. Jungkook and Jimin had hugged him and opened their arms welcoming him to join their small family. There was a small boy named Jihoon who clung to them, him mostly. He was cute and so innocent. Only recently turning four. His parents passing from the illness not so long ago. They had worried for some time he too wouldn't make it as he became ill. However after examining him Jungkook was relieved he was just developing a fever, nothing fatal. The three older males taking the smallest member of the village under their arms. Like three older brothers. Jihoon talked about an older brother, who had taken to calling him Woozi, but he had left before the illness hit to the city to find work, when Jihoon was three. Before he left he had given the boy a Kumamon bear that he carried everywhere. When he became comfortable with them he also allowed them to call him Woozi. Over a month ago he had found a small puppy, calling him Holly, the only survivor of the pups. He had brought him back with him. Woozi taking an instant liking to the small dog. They were a team of sorts. The four of them all after losing family but alas they found new people who they could build a home with. They were happy.

After the illness had struck the outside world he was devastated. His family had been out there. When he had went to go check on them reports came in that there was only approximately a hundred or so left. All the small towns and villages wiped out. His family had always caught sickness easily and something in him told him his parents were gone.
He had left only months before it struck. At the age of twenty three. To the city, when the gates still allowed newcomers to enter. He wanted to make something of himself. Music being his first choice but with the virus things changed. The first week he had met Namjoon and his husband Seokjin. Namjoon who is a genius with everything and the son of the man who runs the city. Seokjin, or Jin, is very handsome and warmhearted who cooked meals for the citizens to eat. Of course with help. There were too many people to feed for Jin alone. He is kind and the three became fast friends. Getting to know each other he learned that Namjoon also had an interest in music but had decided to help his father when the illness struck. Making the city safe and protected from the virus. He is also clumsy, had a habit of breaking things without meaning to. Jin however balanced him out, fixing what was broken and patching the other up if injured. Namjoon was two years younger than Jin and a year younger than him which had surprised him a little. Maybe it was the whole leader personality he had. Namjoon had learned he was good with technology and fixing things. So after weeks of monitoring him he made him in charge of security. He was to make sure no one got in or out without them noticing. Protection for the people and also making sure the supplies were rationed evenly. He called him his vice president of sorts. So now here Yoongi was at twenty four practically helping to run the city with his best friends. Namjoon's father passing the title to his son only over three months ago. He still offered guidance and help but the decision making was up to Namjoon.

Yoongi was frustrated. For just over six months someone had been taking a small amount of their supplies from under their noses. He had monitored the workers bringing them in and it was the right amount. Under close inspection he learned it wasn't any of their own. Yet he couldn't figure out who was taking them. It wasn't really a big deal. They weren't taking a lot. Yet it was still stealing and he was in charge of making sure nothing was touched without authority. Surely they should have caught the culprit by now.
Namjoon had also noticed of course. Wondering why someone was taking the supplies. After all if people needed something all they had to do was ask and Namjoon would give them. It was then pointed out by Jin that maybe it wasn't a citizen. Yoongi and Namjoon had both face palmed. Of course it was someone from outside the walls. He frowned, "But how are they getting in? You can't enter without a keycard." Jin shrugged, "Maybe look for someone who doesn't appear like everyone else." After that he took Jin's advice. He knew people outside the wall barely had working showers or washing machines so he looked for someone whose clothes weren't as well kept as those inside the wall. Watching from the cameras it was then he spotted them. Not just one, but three young males. He still didn't know how they got in. The camera's hadn't caught them enter but he could see them fill a bag each with supplies. One had a list of what they needed he presumed. Deciding to let them go this time he called Namjoon. They would catch them next time. Namjoon and him conversed and agreed that they wouldn't catch them inside but follow them. Find out how they got in and out and where they were taking the supplies. They would have to wait another two weeks however before the plan took place. Seokjin had left them to it with a sigh, "Promise me you'll be careful. Remember that they're people too and they're just trying to survive they only way the can. Now excuse me I must talk to my brother." Namjoon nodded before pausing, "Is he still mad at your parents?" Seokjin sighed, "Yes. Only a little though. He still misses his friends. The three of them used to be like brothers and he never got to say goodbye."

They were preparing for entering the city. Jungkook gave the list to Jimin. He was better at minding things and checking than him. Hosoek would keep an eye out to make sure no one saw them. Jimin and Jungkook would fill the bags and then they'd leave. Jungkook took out a small piece of paper that he wrote for Woozi. The younger had caught another fever. He had put down the medicine he would need, same as last time and to check for something nice. He promised the younger he would get him a treat for being so brave. He had taken all of this in his stride being that he is only four and the only under sixteen years old in the village. He would get the treat when he was feeling better. Woozi had made him pinky promise to not forget and also something for Holly.
Doing their regular routine they made it in. It went smoothly, something felt off however. He voiced his thoughts and Jimin agreed. It had felt easier for some reason to move around. Half the usual security checks almost empty. They hurried with their task. Jungkook taking an extra second to get the medicine for Jihoon. Among the crates he spotted chocolate and a few variation of toys. He smiled taking two bars and a colouring book with pencils. Putting them into the bag he followed. He spotted a kumamon dog toy and remebered his promise. Grabbing it quickly and stuffing it into the bag he followed the others out. It was a nice thought to know there were still lots of animals and kids in the city.
Jimin chuckled, "You know he has you wrapped around his little fingers. Holly included. You become so soft for them, it's cute." Jungkook huffed playfully shoving Jimin as they exited the hole.

Namjoon, Yoongi and Seokjin's brother followed as subtly behind. They missed the three males faces, only seeing their backs. Jin's brother often snuck outside the walls investigating and knew his way around so hence the reason he was with them. Yoongi had never met the younger before. He was extremely happy and people loved him. He made them smile. He introduced himself as Taehyung. Taehyung whispered, "Did he just take a colouring book? He looks a bit old to use a colouring book. I thought the only took necessary items. Then again chocolate is necessary." Namjoon glared at the younger, "Taehyung, shut up or we'll get caught." They followed as the exited a hole behind an alley. Now they knew where they came in. He watched as the one with light brown hair did something to the scanner. So that's how they got in. One of them figured out how to disable the scanner. Explained why there was no cameras too. Being that they were in an alleyway and hardly anyone came down here. They gave it a second before Yoongi scanned his ID card and the three followed them once again. They went past a lot of trees before coming to a small clearing after about ten minutes. The light brown haired one gave his took out some medicine, the colouring book, the chocolate and a dog toy. Yoongi made a noise of appreciation, "Kumamon, nice taste." He then gave the bag to the orange haired one, "Here I'll be back to give medicine to people. I'm going to check on the little guy first." The three separated. Namjoon frowned, "I say follow the one with the chocolate. He seems like he's more the leader." So they did. He sat on a bed next to someone who he blocked with his back. He reached out checking the person's temperature, "How you feeling?" A small voice replied, "Better. Holly stayed with me." The male made a humming noise, "Guess what? I brought you a colouring book and pencils and chocolate. But you can't eat the chocolate until you're better okay? I also have medicine for you so you'll heal faster." He gave the younger the medicine they presumed anyway. A bark caused the three to jump. A small dog began barking at them. Panicking the three moved away from the door. However luck was not on their side. The male from inside came out. They finally saw his face. He bent down, "Holly what's wrong?" Taehyung whispered 'no way' to himself. He stepped forward ignoring Yoongi and Namjoon's glares and attempts to hide him again. He moved toward the male cautiously, "K-Kookie?" The male's head practically snapped up. His eyes widened and he literally jumped at Taehyung wrapping his arms around him, "Tae!" They pulled back. Taehyung was grinning, "Hi Jungkook." Jungkook whacked him but not too hard, "We were so worried. We didn't know if you were alive or if you had caught the virus." Taehyung smiled, "I'm sorry. Mom and dad didn't give me a chance to say goodbye. We just left. It killed me. Seokjin will be so happy you're still alive." The Jungkook male let out a gasp, "Jin hyung? Is he here? How is he?" Taehyung scratched his neck, "Actually he's in the city. We moved there before the virus got worse. He's actually married now." Jungkook's jaw literally dropped, "Wow. His husband better be amazing. Hyung was always too good for everyone." Taehyung chuckled, "He is. Namjoon hyung is amazing." Almost like something hot him Jungkook made an oh face, "Oh gosh. Wait until Jimin sees you. He has orange hair now by the way. Dyed it not long after you left and it stuck." Speaking of the orange haired male turned the corner. Jungkook shouted, "Jiminie hyung come here I have a surprise." As he came closer he noticed Taehyung. He froze staring at him. Tears filled his eyes as he too jumped at the other. Taehyung laughed loudly, "Hey Chim Chim. I've missed you."
Namjoon and Yoongi watched in silence not yet stepping out. They still had the whole stealing supplies to deal with. Namjoon nudged Yoongi, "That's what Jin was always talking sadly about. Taehyung leaving behind his two best friends. That's them." Yoongi watched with small smile. The third male from earlier also came around the corner, "Hey Kook Mrs Choi offered to hand out medicine and said you can stay with Hoonie." Once reaching them he paused, "Why are you all crying?" Jimin pushed Taehyung forward, "We found someone we thought we had lost a long time ago. Hobi hyung meet Taehyung." Almsot instantly Taehyung flushed, "H-hello." Hoseok too seemed to flush. Jimin and Jungkook looked at each other smiling knowingly. Taehyung upon realising why he was there turned to them again, "Actually guys I'm um here for a reason. You see the people who like help and run it have noticed supplies missing. So uh."
Namjoon and Yoongi deemed it time to make their presence known. The three strangers froze. Namjoon waved awkwardly, "Uh hello. I'm Namjoon. I run the city with this one's help." Namjoon pointing to Yoongi. Jungkook groaned, "I knew something was off. We were being followed. Please tell me you're not the same Namjoon that's married to Jin hyung?" Namjoon frowned, "I am actually." The two friends of Taehyung groaned, "We can't hide his body." Namjoon looked terrified. He was leader but he's also a marshmallow. Taehyung gave them a what the heck guys look. Jungkook giggled, "We're joking. I don't think any of could actually hurt anyone." Yoongi hadn't taken his eyes of the Jungkook one. He was attractive and looked younger than him. Jimin hit the back of his head, "Don't tell them that you idiot. What if they had come to kill us they'd know we wouldn't fight them." Jungkook pouted. He actually pouted. Namjoon puffed his cheeks, "I can't give out. They're being too cute especially the one that looks like a bunny. Plus Jin would kill me." The bunny one being Jungkook. Yoongi could see the resemblance when he would smiled widely. Hoseok, Jimin and Taehyung burst out laughing. Hoseok pointed, "Told you that you look like a bunny." Jimin nudged him, "Don't forget he's the baby." Taheyung nodded, "baby bunny. we used to call you that all the time."
They talked. Well Namjoon and the ones made of sunshine did. Jungkook and Yoongi the observing type. Namjoon came to a decision. He would scan them all to make sure no one was effected and if they were clear they could all move into the city. He didn't have the heart to seperate Taehyung from his friends again or to leave people suffering. Taehyung had hugged his friends tightly before saying goodbye. He wouldn't see them unless they got the clear as he would have to stay inside the walls. Namjoon promised to return the next day with a few others to check them. There was only about twenty of them in the town so it wouldn't be too long and easy to get them settled. Yoongi gave them all a small smile as they left.

Jungkook looked at his two friends grinning. They couldn't believe what was happening. Jimin voicing their thought, "Please don't be a dream. I can't believe he found us." Jungkook nodded in agreement, "I wasn't sure we'd ever see him or Jin again. Hobi hyung seems to have taken a liking to him." Hoseok blushed avoiding eye contact, "He's cute."

Jungkook spent the next morning checking people's health and most were getting better. Then he proceeded to help people pack up what they needed. Jimin and Hoseok also doing the same. People were excited. He hoped that they would all get cleared. Once that was complete he went back to Woozi to check the youngest member. He had gotten much better after taking medicine. The fever wasn't as bad as the first time. The soup and promise of chocolate also seemed to help. He still however had to rest a bit more. Holly opting to stay by his side. Jungkook entering smiled, "How you feeling Wooz Wooz." Woozi grinned at him, "Better. I started colouring a picture. See?" Jungkook admired the picture of the boat that he had coloured in. He ruffled his hair telling him it was beautiful. Sitting beside him he took out one bar deciding the second would be for tomorrow as a surprise. He gave it to the younger who smiled at him in thanks. Jungkook chuckled as he devoured the bar, "Easy there. Don't want though to choke. I also have some good news. Would you like to know?" Woozi nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah." Jungkook grinned, "Remember how I told you about Jimin and I having a friend called Taehyung. We'll yesterday we found him. He lives in the city with his brother. His friends were with him, Namjoon and oh I never caught his name. We'll there was another with him and Namjoon hyung actually runs the city and he's coming today to check if we don't have the virus. If we're clear he'll take us to the the city to live in. You'll be able to play with other children maybe, and colour more and maybe even have more chocolate." The small boy clapped in excitement. When Namjoon arrived he was by himself with people they didn't know. They had weird looking scanners. Taking Woozi's hand in his they walked outside meeting the others. Namjoon called to him to explain how they would go about it. There was five people with scanners. They would line up and be scanned. Once clear they could begin walking to the city and Jin would let them in. He would give them a small piece of paper with a pass on it so Jin knew it was them. It was quick. They would prick their finger and the scanner took a drop of blood scanning it. If the light turned green they were clear. People cleared and the line got shorter. Jungkook staying with Woozi the entire time. Once their turn Jungkook squeezed the smaller's hand in reassurance. Woozi flinched at first but relaxed instantly afterwards. Jungkook held his breath sighing in relief at the green light. Jungkook followed also getting the go ahead. He almost cheered out loud when his friends were cleared too. There was an older couple that didn't get the all clear. They had the virus in their veins but it had not yet taken over their blood cells. Jungkook hadn't wanted to leave them but they insisted. It was their time and they'd spend their last moments together. Jungkook grinned down at Woozi, "Things are changing little one. For the better it seems." Woozi smiled back clinging both Jungkook's hand and the Kumamon bear closer.

While Jin was in charge of letting the newcomers in he was in charge of setting up rooms, apartments for them to stay in. Namjoon had requested that the three males shared a dorm. There were five rooms. One each, one for the smaller person they had seen him talking to and one for Taehyung. They had no doubt he would want to move in with his friends. The dorm was also confidently next door to the large house that he, Jin, Namjoon and their families shared. He made sure there was enough supplies in each housing. Honestly he still wasn't impressed. He knew they were trying to survive but they still stole. For all they knew the mightn't have had the resources to look past supplies missing. He hadn't interacted with them since. Not really feeling the need to. He wasn't a fan of interacting with people anyway. Seems however fate had other ideas.
When Jungkook and Jimin stood before Jin the oldest member became tearful. He hugged both boys peppering their faces with kisses. Jin has always looked out for them when they were younger. Being that Jimin has lost his parents and well Jungkook's dad was a terrible cook, he made it his duty to feed them. Jin's food was always delicious. Not only that but he always made sure they were healthy, worrying about them. Taehyung included. He is the kindest person they knew, and had no doubt he still is.

Jungkook had always been curious, even as a child. Going places he probably shouldn't and exploring as much as he could. The city was new and now that they were inside and able to move about without caution his adventurous side surfaced. So during the night when Woozi was sound asleep and tucked in safely he would go out. He preferred night time, not having to deal with people. So here he was, wandering the streets of the large city. He looked at the various buildings and what they offered. He passed a playground and several stores that offered things for children. He made a mental note to bring Woozi to them. It would be nice for the little guy to make friends his age. It was cool, he slightly regretted not bringing a jacket. He turned a corner and collided with someone. He cursed as he fell back on his ass. A hand appeared before him and he accepted the help up. He bowed, "I apologise. I wasn't paying attention." He looked up to see Yoongi looking at him with a calculating look, "It's fine. I wasn't either it seems. What are you doing wandering around so late?" Jungkook shrugged, "I wanted to get to know my surroundings, and well I don't like crowds. It's easier to make my way around in the dark." Yoongi made a clicking sound, "Well careful. It's getting colder so you might not want to stay out too long. I'll be going." Jungkook nodded in understanding, "Okay Yoongi hyung." Yoongi paused, "Jungkook right? (Jungkook nods) I don't recall mentioning my name." Jungkook by his lip, "You didn't. Namjoon hyung mentioned the name and Taehyung confirmed that you are Yoongi." Yoongi made an 'aha I see' mutter. He shrugged, "Anyway I'm going to go home so take what I said in to mind and I'll see you around, maybe." Yoongi began to disappear around another corner. Jungkook watching him leave. He would describe the older man as an introvert, much like himself. He didn't say much and referred to go about doing his own thing.
Much to both their dismay they kept bumping into each other, literally. Even though Jungkook is the taller and more built of the two he was always the one that ended up on his ass. He would need to carry a cushion with him in future. Like usual he spent his day watching over Woozi. He had taken him to the park from his first adventure and to get some ice-cream. One of the people in the city knew how to make homemade ice-cream and so opened a ice-cream parlour. It was the kids favourite place. Woozi had looked like he had entered heaven or something like it anyway. There the younger had made his first friend his age. A boy named Soonyoung or Hoshi as he preferred. He wad slightly taller than Woozi and immediately took a liking to the smaller. Hoshi is only a few months older so let the younger not use honorifics. Jungkook had spent the day spoiling the younger. Of course Holly had joined them at the park. The small dog needed his exercise too. Now the two were having a nice nap on Jungkook's bed, because it was bigger than Woozi's. So Jimin said he'd keep an eye on him while Jungkook explored. Now he was once again on the floor after falling on his ass. He took Yoongi's outstretched hand pulling him up. Yoongi frowned at him, "Come with me, I want to show you something." Jungkook didn't have a chance to answer as Yoongi walked away. He ran after him following behind. Yoongi opened a door for him to enter. Going in he looked around. It was a doctor's office. Yoongi put out his hand, "here." Jungkook looked at what was dropped into his hand. A key. Yoongi was looking away as he spoke, "Jimin mentioned that you would have been in your second year of med school. He told me and Namjoon how you helped people in the village. Treating them. We only have one or two other doctors here. Not enough for the amount of people here. So if you're interested this is yours. You can open it up, give you something to do. You can spend a few days settling in and organising but it's yours if you want, courtesy of Namjoon." Jungkook was in shock. Growing up all he wanted was to be a doctor, to help others. He looked around the room a grin spreading on his lips. Yoongi made a humming sound, "okay well before you get all sappy I'm going to go now. I have to do intake today."
He settled in quickly getting Jimin, Taehyung and Hoseok to paint it a nice pastel pink colour and hang up pictures. He also put some children's toys to help encourage kids that going to the doctor wasn't all that bad. Jin had used them finishing as a reason to celebrate and cook a meal for everyone. Unfortunately Yoongi wasn't able to attend as he had security watch. Jungkook had opted to bring Woozi along with him. Jin had doted on the smallest member and offered to watch him of Jungkook was ever stuck. When it was time to leave Jungkook bowed before Namjoon, "Hyung I want to say thank you for being the one to provide the building." Namjoon frowned at him confused, "What do you mean?" Jungkook tilted his head slightly, "Yoongi hyung said you were the one that made it happen." Namjoon shook his head, "Aish that man. It wasn't me Kook. It was Yoongi. He was the only one who had been told about your dream of being a doctor. So he went ahead and set it up. Don't know why he didn't take credit." Jungkook wondered too. He would make sure to ask and thank the man. He bowed again bidding Namjoon goodnight and hurrying outside to where Woozi waited with Hoseok. He took the smaller's hand in his still lost in thought.
It wasn't long before he bumped into Yoongi again. The following day in fact. He was on his way to open up when it happened. He smiled shyly at the older, "Sorry again ..... Hyung, can I ask you something?" Yoongi nodded in acknowledgement. Jungkook scrunched his nose slightly, "Why did you say it was Namjoon hyung who had the idea and made the doctor office for me happen, when in fact it was you?" Yoongi shrugged, "I thought you might find it weird. I don't really know you that well and I helped set up something you dreamed about. Besides it just felt right. I've seen you, helping people. It comes naturally to you and you're good at it." Jungkook hesitated about his next question. He didn't know what way Yoongi would take it but he had to do something. He bit his lip nervously, "Hyung, I want to thank you. Let me buy you lunch or dinner or something. Maybe then I could get to know you. All our friends are friends. So we're bound to meet each other more. Please." Yoongi seemed to think about if before slowly nodding, "Okay. Dinner. You finish at six right? I'll come to you." Without another word Yoongi had continued on his way to his own work. Jungkook couldn't deny the excitement and flutter of butterflies that erupted in his stomach.
Nervous. Jungkook was nervous as the clock got closer to six. The day has gone at a medium pace. People had come on for check ups but nothing extreme happened. Yoongi is a very handsome man. So it was no doubt he found him attractive. He is also kind and even though he's probably deny it he is very caring. He just doesn't say it. He shows it, through small things.
At two minutes to six he began tidying up and putting everything away. Not forgetting to lock up. As he turned there he was. Yoongi leaned against a pole that resided in front of the building across from him. Jungkook felt his stomach churn, but in a filled with butterflies way. Yoongi led him to a small hut, "It doesn't look like much but this place has really good lamb skewers. You do like lamb skewers, if not we can go somewhere else?" Jungkook shook his head, "Hyung here is perfect." They sat in the far corner, opposite from one another. Yoongi ordered them a serving each. Jungkook watched him. Yoongi catching his look frowned. Wanting to break the silence he spoke, "Ah um there's no need to call me hyung. I'm not really one for honorifics. Yoongi is fine." Jungkook grinned, "Okay if you say so Yoongi-ah." When the food was placed in front of them silence surrounded them again. Jungkook bit into a piece letting out a small moan at the taste. A blush spread across his cheeks. Yoongi chuckled lowly, "Good right? This is one of my favourite places. Before the virus I would take my brother to get them sometimes. It reminds me of home. This place, people are trying to act normal. Sometimes it's good. Distracts me but sometimes I just want to scream. Why did this happen? How?" Jungkook watched him silently. He could see the pain reflecting on the older man's eyes. He had suffered. They all had.
It became a routine for them. Every Friday evening Yoongi would meet him after work and they would eat together. He had learned a lot about the older. He learned Yoongi was a musical genius. He had come to the city to produce music and could write and compose his own songs. Also he could play the piano. However the virus changed things and his path changed. He learned that while the older didn't speak much or say his feelings his eyes did. His emotions were more clear if you looked into his eyes which Jungkook did a bit too often. As time passed he learned small details like his favourite colour or his favourite memory. As time passed he realised he was falling for Yoongi. After discovering this he had gone home almost feeling dizzy. Jimin who had opened the door leading him to the couch worryingly. Taking a few seconds to gather his thoughts he looked up at Jimin his cheeks flushed, "Hyung, I-Ive fallen in love. I'm not quite sure if he has caught me or not."

After that things became awkward. Jungkook avoided the older more. Giving excuses like he had too much work or Jimin needed him. So much so that Yoongi himself became irritated. He knew he was being avoided on purpose but he didn't know the real reason why. So he confronted the younger. A knock on the door alerted the four males sitting in the living room. Hoseok going to open, frowned wondering who could be visiting them. When he opened the door Yoongi pushed past without a word straight towards Jungkook. Jungkook sat wide eyed staring at him. Yoongi glanced at the three also watching. Jimin coughed awkwardly, "We'll um give you two some time to talk alone." Once they were out of sight Yoongi faced Jungkook again eyes practically burning. He pointed, "Why have you been avoiding me?" Jungkook tugged at his sweater sleeves, "I can see you're upset and I'm sorry." Yoongi scoffed, "Upset? I'm furious. You want to know why? I was perfectly fine by myself. The same thing each day. Until some brat, you by the way, comes in and has the audacity to steal from us. I only stood back and kept quiet because Namjoon is my best friend. If it was anyone else you would have probably been punished. I don't even know if we have prison anymore. So not only were you let off but also given a home, and everything you could possible need. Then we bumped into each other and it kept happening. That irked me. You were just a kid. I was suspicious at first why you were out so late all the time. Yet I still couldn't find it in me to say anything. Then you offered dinner. It became routine. I got to know you. All the doubts disappeared. Filling instead with feelings like looking forward to each Friday evening because it meant I get to see that stupid smile that makes you resemble a damn bunny. You can't just walk into my life, make me care, make me fall for you and then just leave. That's not how this works." Jungkook stood before the older stunned. Yoongi breathless from his speech. He had gotten closer upon speaking so now they were chest to chest.
A small voice came from behind them, "Say sorry to Kookie." Woozi ran into Jungkook's arms an angry pout on his lips holding his Kumamon bear close, "Kookie is nice. Don't be mean to him or I'll make Holly bite you." Yoongi staring at him. He reached out poking the boy's face as actual tears filled his eyes, "J-Jihoon?" Woozi tilted his head taking in the older's details before jumping across into his arms, "Yoongi!" Yoongi held the small boy close, "I thought you were gone. This whole time you've been here with Jungkook." Yoongi looked up at a surprised Jungkook, "You've been taking care of my brother this whole time." Woozi poked his brother, "He didn't know hyung. I never told him your name. Just that I once had a brother. Kookie takes care of me without asking for anything in return. He even brought me home a puppy." Jungkook watched fondly from his seat on the couch as the two brothers reunited. A sad feeling at the pit of his stomach however made him cringe. Would this mean Woozi would move in with his brother? Would he see him as much? The small boy had become a huge part of him. Almost like his own son or younger brother. At the same time he wouldn't fight them both if they wanted that. At the end of the day they were each other's family, not his. He looked down begging himself not to cry. It wasn't the time. A small body however made him let out a small squeak of surprise. Woozi. He looked up at Jungkook eyes filled with happiness, "I found my brother Kookie. All because of you." Jungkook smiled down adoringly at him, "I'm so happy for you Wooz." Woozi faced Yoongi again bouncing on his heels in excitement, "Does this mean I'll get to live with you hyung?" Yoongi nodded, "I'm that's what you want kiddo?" Woozi nodded enthusiastically, "Yes! Yes! I'll get my stuff. Hyung come help me!" Yoongi glanced at Jungkook before nodding and following the small boy.
Once gone Jungkook let the tears escape his eyes. One moment he was sure the older had been confessing and now he was losing one of the people he cared most about. A sob wracked his body. Gasping he gripped the armrest. He felt like he couldn't breathe. Jimin rushed in shaking him, "Kookie? Jungkook? You're having a panic attack. Look at me and take a deep breath. Come on." Jungkook stared at Jimin, "H-he's leaving. He I've lost another person. Woozi." Jimin pulled the brunette into his arms, "I know. It's okay. We'll figure this out okay. Woozi loves you a lot. He's just excited that he found his brother." Jungkook held on tight to the other.
Just as he was calming down Woozi once again flung his small body into Jungkook's arms, "Kookie! I'm sorry. I made you cry." Jungkook hugged him tight, "It's okay Wooz. I understand. Yoongi is your brother. I'm just-" Woozi placed his small hands over Jungkook's mouth, "you're my brother too." Yoongi spoke up, and "He's right. You, all of you, complete strangers took him in. Gave him food, made sure he was healthy, gave him medicine when he was sick, gave him shelter, a home. You did what most people would not. So with that in mind I have a proposal. Woozi here stays with you throughout the week and comes to me on weekends. I work anyway until late at night Monday to Thursdays. Then I'll take you for soemthing to eat as usual and then afterwards bring Woozi home with me. I'll drop him back Sunday's. Then when we're used to it we can switch it up so you can see him some weekends."  Woozi and Jungkook looked at each other and nodded in agreement. Yoongi scratched the back of his head, "Now that that is sorted can I uh talk to Jungkook. I still need to talk to him." Jungkook nodded, "Let's take a walk."
Jungkook looked at Yoongi as the walked down the street in silence. Yoongi glanced at him catching his stare making the brunette blush. Yoongi chuckled, "cute." Jungkook turned a shade of pink darker. Yoongi stopped turning his whole body to face the younger, "So what I said before, it came out wrong." Jungkook felt disappointment swirl his mind. He wanted to turn and run form embarrassment. Yoongi catching the expression reached an arm out to his waist to hold him in place, "Let me finish before I scare you off. Jungkook, what I mean is it came out rushed. Everything I said I mean. I have fallen for you. Everything about you. The spark in your eyes when you talk about something you're passionate about or about the people you love. The determination to help others. That smile, the one where it's so wide your nose scrunches and eyes crinkle and you look so bright and like a bunny. The fact you're body is so mature but you have the innocence and personality of a kid sometimes. Just you. Maybe this isn't the ideal place being that we're stuck in a world where every second we worry that someone we love could be gone in a flash but it also means I get you. The person who I probably don't deserve, because of you I found my baby brother, and someone who I have fallen for. So Jungkook please will you be mine and let me kiss you." Jungkook practically melted into his arms. He looked at the older eyes shining. His voice hushed in the quietness, "Yes!" Yoongi frowned, "Yes you'll be mine or yes I can kiss you?" Jungkook giggled, "Both Yoongi-ah." Yoongi grinned showing his gums almost killing the other with how beautiful he looked. Before another word could be spoken he leaned in pressing their lips together. It was going to be interesting to explain to Woozi.
