CHAPTER 1: GATHER INGREDIENTS
Suga's Sweets is everyone's favorite bakery. The delectable pastries made with the perfect ingredients had a tasty flavor which made it impossible for anyone not to like them. Just the smell of the pastries baking in the oven made everyone's stomach grumble, their mouths watering with the smell in their mouths, practically tasting it.
The pastries were quite magical, or at least Jungkook thought so.
"What's so good about these pastries?" Jungkook's best friend, Jimin asked as they walked. He had never tried pastries from Suga's Sweets before. "I don't get the hype when we can get the same thing at another bakery."
Both friends were hungry and were craving something sweet. Jungkook suggested going to Suga's Sweets, his favorite go-to place to grab something sweet to eat. They were a few blocks away from the bakery and Jungkook could already smell the faint aroma in the air of the baked goods.
"Do you not smell that?" Jungkook asked.
Jimin breathed in through his nose, catching the faint smell of something delicious. "Yeah, smells great. I can practically taste it."
"Exactly! That is Suga's Sweets. Not only do the pastries there taste so good, but the smell of it is something else," Jungkook says as he closes his eyes for a moment and basks in the scent. When he opens his eyes, he looks over at Jimin with a proud smile. "No other bakery compares to this one and after today, you will see why."
"Okay then, let's just hope that these pastries taste as good as they say you do and smell."
"Trust me, they do."
**
Upon entering the bakery, the two friends were faced with a long line of people waiting to order.
Jimin's craving for something sweet was suddenly gone. "On second thought, I think I'm craving something spicy. Wanna grab some noodles instead?"
"Nah, I still want something sweet," Jungkook replied as he tugged on Jimin's arm and pulled him toward the end of the line.
"Are you sure? Look at this long line," Jimin gestured towards the long line of people anxiously waiting their turn to order.
"It's always like this," Jungkook says nonchalantly. "Everyone loves Suga's Sweets."
Jimin's stomach suddenly grumbles. He's not sure if it's from hunger or from the smell of baked goods inside the bakery that caused his stomach to grumble but either way, he's already there, so might as well wait his turn to order.
"Can I recommend you something?" Jungkook excitedly asks as he has his hands on the glass in front of him, the only thing separating him and the other customers from the pastries. He doesn't give Jimin time to answer as he starts throwing out names of pastries and other recommendations. "The lemon cream pie is delicious. Oh, but wait! The strawberry tarts are just as delicious too! You also have to try the red velvet cupcakes! My favorite is the chocolate pastry puff! Oh no, but I also love their strawberry cheesecake!"
Jimin feels his mouth start to water as he looks at all the pastries Jungkook is naming and wants to grab one of each plus whatever else catches his attention.
Both friends start feeling more and more excited as the line progresses. Neither of them knows what exactly they want, but they remain looking at all the pastries, trying to decide what to get.
"Why are you so excited? Aren't you a regular here?" Jimin asks as Jungkook stares at the pastries like how a child would when they see something sweet.
"Yeah, but another thing that I like about this place, is that they have lots of options to pick from so you never get tired of the same pastries-oh wait, are these sugar cookies freshly baked?"
An employee passing by overheard Jungkook and smiled a boxy-like grin. Jungkook has seen him around every time he comes. "Yeah, they are fresh out of the oven, so if you plan on getting these, be careful they are still a little hot."
Jungkook turns to Jimin after the employee goes back to what he was doing and smiles. "I think I know what I'm getting."
After a little while of waiting, it is finally the two friends' turn to order. "You order first," Jimin instructs. "I'm still trying to decide."
Jungkook looks at the person behind the counter who is ready to take his order. "Hi, what can I get for you?"
Jungkook blinks, forgetting what he wanted to order as he looks at the handsome young man in front of him. He hadn't seen him before, so Jungkook concluded that he must be new.
I didn't know bakeries hired cute guys. I guess I'll be coming here more often than I already do.
Jungkook takes in the young man's appearance. He's wearing his white chef uniform. He has his baking hat placed on top of his head, while his long locks of hair hang at the back of the back of his neck. He has pale skin and really pretty eyes-
"Are you just going to stare at me or are you going to buy something?"
Jungkook blinks once again and he brings himself back to reality. Uh yeahhhh..." he drags on as he glances over at the baker's name tag. "Let me get some of those sugar cookies, Suga."
The employee rolls his eyes at the emphasis on his name. "Anything else?"
"No, that's all..."
Jungkook paid for his cookies and the same employee with the box-like grin, smiled at him as he handed him his order. This Suga guy should be more like this other guy, Jungkook thought.
It was now Jimin's turn to order. Unlike Jungkook, he didn't stare at the employee behind the counter. He just quickly ordered as he had already decided what he wanted. "Let me get some of those chocolate-filled scones."
"Anything else?" The employee asked nicely, nothing compared to how he replied to Jungkook.
"That's all," Jimin replied happily. He paid for his scones before the same employee with the box-like grin, handed him his order as well.
"Talk about customer service," Jungkook replied as he sat down at a table, Jimin taking the seat across from him.
"Well, you were kinda just staring at him."
"Because he's cute."
"If you think so."
Jungkook scoffed. "What do you mean? He is cute. Even his name is cute. The only not cute thing was his attitude."
"I mean, if you're just staring at him and not ordering while there is a long line of people waiting, why wouldn't you get annoyed?" Jimin asked as he bit into a scone. "And the real cutie was the one with the box-like grin."
"Yeah, his smile was cute," Jungkook agreed, taking a bite out of one of his cookies. "But Suga is cuter."
"That is not his real name."
"How would you know?" Jungkook questioned, taking another bite of the deliciously good sugar cookie.
"Because his name sounds like sugar. Who names their kid sugar?"
"His mom must've been a sweet lady, hence his name."
Jimin rolled his eyes at his best friend's logic. "Why don't you go ask him then?"
"You know what," Jungkook replied as he stood up, "I'll do that."
Jungkook walked up to the counter, politely apologizing to the customer in line before turning to Suga who was already looking at him with an annoyed expression.
"Hi, sorry to interrupt but is your name really Suga?"
"Excuse me?"
"Well, your name tag says Suga and me, and my friend were talking and he says your name isn't Suga because he asked who would name their kid Suga, it sounds like sugar, but I said your mother must've been a sweet lady hence your name-"
"Stop rambling," Suga cut Jungkook off. "Just stop wondering about my name. All you gotta know is that I'm the owner of Suga's Sweets. Now, if you excuse me, I have a customer."
Suga sent Jungkook a death stare before turning back to his customer. Jungkook was a bit taken aback by the response. He should've connected the dots when he read Suga on the name tag but he was too busy staring at the cute guy wearing the name tag to even register that information, but then again, why hadn't Jungkook seen him before?
"That didn't go well," Jimin replied as he watched his best friend take his seat. He was on his last scone, so he was trying to savor it as much as he could because he didn't feel like waiting in that long line again to order some more.
"No, but that's okay. I'd rather not find out his real name. I like his name Suga, it suits him."

happy national scone day :)
