Nejis pov

I was in the kitchen cooking this evenings meal with shikamaru. Seeing as our people are going through a shortage of food we're trying our best to rashon what little food we have left.

I've never gone though anything like this before. In the hyuga clan we always had plenty of food. This really gives me a whole new perspective on life.

"whoops" shikamaru accidentally knocked over a glass of water. I thankfully managed to catch it without spilling a single drop of water.

"nice catch" shikamaru gave me a thumbs up.

"oh thank you" I blushed slightly.

"that was incredible!" a voice behind me yelled, almost causing me to drop the glass. I turned around to see rock Lee. The excitable boy who I've always been a little nervous around.

He ran up to me and grabbed my hands "your speed and reflexes are off the charts my friend! Why did you never tell me about this?"

"I didn't think it was that big a deal" I muttered nervously.

"it is a very big deal!" he insisted "neji my team has been lacking a third member for quite some time. I would be honoured if you would join my team"

"I can't fight Lee. I don't know how" I tried to explain.

"nonsense my friend. With reflexes like that we'll have you a taijitsu master in no time" Lee said reassuringly.

"you don't understand. I can't-"

"let's not make any decisions yet" shikamaru cut me off "come on neji. Let's talk about this alone"
