I opened my eyes to see white walls surrounding my vision. I felt a little confused. Where am I-

Then it hit me. I almost died tonight!

I covered my mouth as tears rolled down my cheek. Oh god that was scary! I knew things would get bad once I went outside but I didn't think things would escalate so quickly! I should have ran away from shikamaru when he got aggressive. I should have never let him get close enough to mark me. Oh god why is this happening to me.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse he walked in.

"I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me!" I screamed as I covered my face with my arms.

"whoe easy now" he said gently "I don't want to hurt you. I just want to talk"

He sat down on my bedside. I slowly put my arms down to see his gentle smile. He seems alot kinder now. How strange.

"how are you feeling" he asked.

"mmm I'm feeling better now" I looked down to see my foot was completely healed "there's not even a scar. How impressive!"

Shikamaru chuckled "well we do have a nurse here. She took very good care of you dispite all this being a little last minute"

"I'll have to thank her" I muttered to myself.

"there time for that later" he suddenly grabbed me by the shoulders "neji I'm sorry if I was cruel to you. I just thought you were looking down on me since you were born in the hyuga clan"

"I don't feel like I'm part of the hyuga clan" I muttered as tears pricked my eyes "there ashamed of me for ruining their pure alpha bloodline"

"why do you want to stay with them then!" shikamaru yelled suddenly, making me jump "they're clearly treating you like crap!"

"because things are scary outside!" I yelled back "omegas are treated like playthings to alphas. They basically get tortured and forced to have children ageinst their will. That's all their good for" I burst into tears. I was terrified. Is he going to do those things to me? It's the natural order isn't it? It's what I have to expect!

"that's not true" shikamaru sounded appalled "sweetheart where did you hear those awful lies!?"

"my uncle told me" I whimpered "that's why I'm not allowed outside. It's dangerous"

Suddenly he pulled me into a hug. I felt frightened but also confronted by his warm embrace.

"listen to me sweetheart" he said softly "those things aren't true. Your uncle only told you those things because he wanted to hold power over you. Don't let him have that power"

I nodded as tears rolled down my cheeks. I feel alot safer now that I know the truth but also saddened by the realisation of how much my family truly hated me.

"it seems that two of us just misunderstood each other" shikamaru smiled in relief "now we can move on with our relationship"

He leaned in to kiss me but I pushed him away.

"I'm sorry but I just don't trust you right now" I looked away nervously.

He looked hurt but gave me a smile "I understand. I'll see you tomorrow" with that he left.

I lay back in bed, hoping I could get a good night's sleep after all the crazy stuff that happened.
