World War III
*The Doctors POV*
I felt myself shaking, trying to get the ID card off of me. I started sweating, but I managed to get it off. "Deadly to humans maybe." I shoved the ID card on the aliens collar. Both men screamed in pain and I quickly turned around, where's Alex? I panned the room, looking for my wizard. Seriously though, what's up with the 'my' thing? She's not even mine! I found her lying on the floor by the chair she was in, passed out and twitching. I chucked her ID card at the wall before scooping her up and running out the door.
"Oi! You want aliens, you've got them. They're inside Downing Street. Come on!" I motioned for them, running back into the room.
"Where've you been?" One of the aliens scolded at the guards. "I called for help, I sounded the alarm. There was this... lightning! This kind of er... um... electricity and they all collapsed!"
"I think they're all dead." One of the soldiers announced.
"That's what I'm saying. They did it!" He pointed to me and Alex, who was still passed out. "Them there!"
"I think you will find the Prime Minister is an alien in disguise." I paused. I don't even believe that. "That's never going to work, is it?"
"Nope." The guard said.
"Fair enough." I booked it away from them, thank god Alex was light. The soldiers caught up to me and I was cornered. "Under the jurisdiction of the Emergency Protocols, I authorize you to execute these murderers!" The guards pointed their guns at us. Actually, I'm not cornered. These guys are idiots.
"Uh, well, now, yes. You see, the thing is, if I was you, and I was going to execute someone by backing them against the wall, between you and me, little word of advice." I heard the ding and gave them a huge smile. "Don't stand them against the lift!" I stepped back into the elevator, grabbing the sonic from Alex's boot, and closed the door. Did she actually put my sonic in her boot? Does she miss her wand that much? Wizards and their wands. Not that I care, I can't wait for Alex to see her surprise. I brushed her hair out of her face, she was still passed out, why did she past out? She's a Wizard, that shouldn't have made her pass out like that.
The elevator door opened and one of the Slitheen started roaring at me. Yeah roar all you want. I saw Rose and that woman from before run into a room behind them. "Hello!" I gave it my biggest smile and quickly closed the door.
The lift dings and I stepped out with Alex still in my arms. I heard two more Slitheen coming towards me and I was cornered against the lift. "I repeat, the upper floors are under quarantine. You will stay where you are. You will disregard all previous instructions. You will take your orders directly from me." I listened into the Slitheens conversation, praying that Alex wouldn't wake up now. I heard the lift ding, noticing the two stepped into it.
"Mr. Green, sir, I'm sorry but you've got to come with me. We should evacuate the entire building." The sergeant hurried over to them.
"Sergeant, have you uh, read the Emergency Protocols?"
"No, sir." I could hear the lack of confidence in the sergeant's voice.
"Then don't question me. Seal off number ten, secure the ground floor, and if the Doctor makes it downstairs, shoot on site!" The lift door closed before the sergeant could say anything more.
"Well, you heard him! Move out!" The sergeant yells and the soldiers do so.
I ran down a flight of stairs, holding Alex tightly. I heard the sergeant barking orders in the distance and the lift ding again. I squeezed Alex and I into the crevice of the door, hoping that they wouldn't notice us. "We'll keep this floor quarantined as our last hunting ground before the final phase." I waited till they were out of sight before following in the direction the two Slitheen walked in.
I put Alex over my shoulder, grabbing a fire extinguisher. I heard Rose scream and I bolted through the door, spraying it all over the Slitheen. "Out. With me." I ran out after them, "who the hell are you?" I asked the woman. She seems to be everywhere today.
"Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North." She showed me her ID card. Alright then.
"Nice to meet you." I nodded at her. Why does her name sound so familiar?
"Likewise." She smiled at me, but it dropped when she saw Alex, "is she okay?" 'That's none of your business, bitch'. I could only imagine what Alex would say to Harriet. Alex would probably be annoyed that someone is asking about her. I just nodded at the woman and continued along.
"We need to get to the cabinet rooms!" I yelled at Rose and Harriet.
"The Emergency Protocols are in there! They give instructions on aliens!"
"Harriet Jones, I like you." I smiled at her as we ran to the room.
"And I like you too." I unlocked the door with my sonic screwdriver. I turned around to see that the Sithleen had caught up to us. I grabbed a bottle of brandy and held my sonic screwdriver to it, with Alex still over my shoulder. Thank god she's small.
"One more move and my sonic device will triplicate the flammability of this alcohol. Whoof! We all go up. So back off." They slowly backed away. "Right then. Question time. Who exactly are the Slitheen?"
"They're aliens." Harriet pointed out, well thank you, I haven't noticed.
I rolled my eyes at her. "Yes. I got that, thanks."
"Who are you, if not human?" One of them asked me.
"Who's not human?" Harriet asked.
"He's not human." Rose pointed to me.
"He's not human?" Harriets eyes widened.
God if Alex was awake she would've done that voice mute spell. "Can I have a bit of hush?" I wish Alex was conscious.
Harriet mumbled something, I squinted my eyes a bit, ignoring her. Ugh I miss Alex, she would've put Harriet in her place by now, 'not now, Doctor'. "So, what's the plan?"
"But he's got a Northern accent." LOTS OF PLANETS HAVE A NORTH. Why do I always have to explain that planets have a north too?! Jesus.
"Lots of planets have a North." Rose rolled her eyes at the woman. Thank you, Rose.
"Hush up. Come on! You've got a spaceship hidden in the North Sea. It's transmitting a signal. You've murdered your way to the top of government, what for? Invasion?"
"Why would we invade this god forsaken rock?" They laughed at me, did I say something funny?
"Then something has brought the Slitheen race here, what is it?" I shook my head, trying to figure it out. Alex would've figured it out by now.
"The Slitheen race?" One of them asked. They all laughed at us. "Slitheen is not our species. Slitheen is our surname. Jocrassa Fel Fotch Pasameer Day Slitheen at your service."
"So, you're a family?" I asked them.
"It's a family business." They confirmed.
"Then you're out to make a profit. How can you do that on a 'god forsaken rock'?" I mocked them.
"Um excuse me? Your device will do what? Triplicate the flammability?"
Well, that was a nice try. "Is that what I said?" I looked at the brandy and the sonic, struggling to keep Alex on my shoulder.
"You're making it up!" They yelled at us.
"Ah, well! Nice try. Harriet, have a drink. I think you're gonna need it." I passed her the bottle.
"Pass it to the left first." I turned around to see that her hands were filled with documents. Of course they were.
"Sorry." I tossed it to Rose, who took a sip.
"Now we can end this hunt, with a slaughter." The Slitheen slowly start walking towards us.
"Don't you think we should run?" Rose asked, slowly backing away from them.
"Fascinating history," I smirked. "Downing Street. Two thousand years ago, this was marsh land. In 1730, it was occupied by a Mr. Chicken. He was a nice man. 1796, this was the cabinet room, if the cabinet's in session and in danger, these are about the four most safest walls in the whole of Great Britain." All the windows and doors were replaced with metal shutters. "Installed in 1991. Three inches of steel lining every single wall. They'll never get in."
"And how do we get out?" Rose glared at me. Oops.
My eyes widened, "ah." Don't glare at me! At least we didn't get slaughtered.
I pocketed the sonic and placed Alex gently on the table, tucking her hair behind her ears. I hope she's okay. "Doctor?" I turned to see Rose, who nodded to the dead body on the floor. I helped her put the body in the closet, whispering an "I'm sorry," to him. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around Alex. I sat down in a chair next to her, holding her hand. Rose elbowed me with a smirk on her face. Oh go away, Rose, you've got a Ricky, I barely even have a Wizard. I rubbed my thumb over her wrist, trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. I gulped, feeling my hearts drop. I rolled up her sleeve a bit and saw scars. I pulled it down quickly so Rose didn't see and I just continued to rub my thumb over her wrist gently.
"But the Slitheen are about eight feet, how do they squeeze inside?" Harriet questioned, I turned to her and shrugged.
"That's the device around their necks, a compression field, literally shrinks them down a bit. That's why there's all that gas, it's a big exchange."
"Wish I had a compression field, I could fit in a size smaller." I snapped my head in my Wizard's direction, seeing Alex smirking.
"Alex!" I put my other hand on her cheek, still rubbing her wrist. She swallowed, pulling her wrist away from me. I probably shouldn't have kept my hand there... Whoops.
"Excuse me, people are dead, this is not the time for making jokes." Harriet scolded at her.
"Shut up, no one was speaking to you." Alex rolled her eyes at Harriet. Ah, my sassy Wizard is back. Listen to me, I'm still saying 'my', like she's mine. "You get used to this stuff when you're friends with him." Alex motioned to me, she put her hand in her boot, rolling her eyes at me. Alex was still wearing my jacket, she shoved her hands in its pockets, and frowned, realizing the sonic wasn't in the pocket. Alex looked over at me, grabbing the sonic from my hands, and putting it back in her boot. I rolled my eyes at her and she just smirked.
"Well, that's a strange friendship." Harriet said with her face scrunched up. Harriet what again? I recognize her.
Alex sighed loudly, "no one asked for your input." She mumbled, I couldn't help but chuckle a bit. She just didn't care, she said whatever was on her mind.
"Harriet Jones, I've heard that name before, Harriet Jones. You're not famous for anything, are you?"
"Huh! Hardly." Harriet said laughing at me, did I say something funny?
"Yeah, that name rings a bell, Harriet Jones." Alex squinted her eyes at her still thinking. My jacket was just a little big for her in the arms, but it looked so cute on her. She looked really beautiful standing there, fixing her hair, tuned out of everything Harriets saying.
"Lifelong backbencher I'm afraid, and a fat lot of use I'm being now, the protocols are redundant, they list the people who can help and they're all dead downstairs."
"Hasn't it got like, defence codes and things? Can we just launch a nuclear bomb at em?" Alex asked, throwing her arms up.
Harriets mouth drops, "you're a very violent young woman."
"I'm very aware." Alex rolled my eyes at her, making a 'duh' face.
I walked over to her, pulling Alex to me, "everyone's aware, Alex. Anyway, the British Isles can't gain access to atomic weapons without a special resolution from the UN."
Rose rolled her eyes, "like that's ever stopped them."
"Exactly, given our past record, and I voted against that, thank you very much. The codes have been taken out of the government's hands and given to the UN. Is it important?" Rose crossed her arms.
"Everything's important." I shook my head at Rose.
"If we only knew what the Slitheen wanted." She paused. "Listen to me, I'm saying 'Slitheen' as if it's normal." Harriet threw her hands up.
"What do they want, though?" Rose squinted her eyes.
"Well, it's just one family so it's not an invasion. They don't want Slitheen world, they're out to make money, which means they want to use something, something here on Earth, some kind of asset." I tried to break it down for Rose.
"Like what? Gold? Oil? Water?" Harriet asked.
"You're very good at this."
Harriet beamed at me, "thank you."
"Harriet Jones, why do I know that name?" I scrunched up my face staring at Harriet.
I felt a phone vibrating and I looked down at Alex who was taking it out of her pocket. "Ugh who the hell wants something from me?"
"But we're sealed off, how did you get a signal?" Harriet looks at her puzzled.
"Don't worry about it." Alex shrugged.
Harriet turned to me, "then we can phone for help! You must have contacts."
"Dead downstairs, yeah." I shrugged. These Slitheen were smart.
"Rose, why's your boyfriend texting me?" Alex turned to Rose, moving away a bit. I frowned.
"He was your best friend." Rose rolled her eyes at Alex.
"Oh, tell your stupid boyfriend we're busy." I crossed my arms.
"He's her man, not mine." Alex said sassily to me. Well then. Why didn't he text Rose? Why'd he have to text Alex? He must've figured out that Alex is still mad about him calling her a 'thing', come on.
Alex tossed Rose her phone, "yeah, he's not so much of an idiot after all." She gave me Alex's phone. Ricky had sent her the photo of the Slitheen in Jackie's kitchen. Rose called him and he answered all freaked out. Grow up, boy.
"No, no, no, no, no, not just alien, but like, proper alien. All stinking, and wet, and disgusting. And more to the point, it wanted to kill us!" Ricky shouted into the phone.
"I could've died!" Jackie screamed dramatically.
"Oh no!" Alex said mockingly. I chuckled at her, she really just doesn't have a filter whatsoever. It's pretty funny to be honest.
"Is she alright, though? Don't put her on, just tell me."
Before Ricky could answer, I grabbed the phone from Rose, "is that Ricky? Don't talk, just shut up and go to your computer."
"It's Mickey." He corrected me again. Mate, I'm forever and always going to call you Ricky, get over it. "And why should I?"
"Mickey the Idiot, I might just choke before I finish this sentence, but I need you." Rose smiled all proud and Alex groaned a bit.
Mickey said something but I didn't quite hear him, I was too busy dragging Alex with me and plugging her phone into the speaker. "Say again."
"It's asking for the password." Mickey repeated.
"Buffalo, two Fs, one L." I figured I'd better spell it, don't want Mickey the Idiot to mess that up.
"So, what's that website?" I could hear Jackie ask Mickey.
"All the secret information known to mankind. See, they've known about aliens for years, they just kept us in the dark."
"Mickey, you were born in the dark." Alex crossed her arms, making me chuckle.
"Oh, leave him alone." Rose scolded at us. I mean, I would if I cared enough too, but we all know Alex won't.
"Thank you. Password again."
"Just repeat it, every time."
"You said to gather the experts, to kill them." Harriet said, nodding her head.
"That lot would've gathered for a weather balloon, you don't need to crash land in the middle of London." I shrugged back to her.
"The Slitheen were hiding, and then they put the entire planet on red alert, what would they do that for?" Alex squinted her eyes, clearly in deep thought. She looked really adorable when she squinted her eyes. I felt my cheeks heat up a bit, realizing I was staring at her.
"Oh, listen to her." Jackie said, her voice filled with disgust.
"Hey! At least I'm trying. What're you doing to help, Jackie?" Alex said sassily to the phone.
"Well, I've got a question if you don't mind. Because since that man walked into our lives, I have been attacked in the streets. I have had creatures from the pits of hell in my own living room, and my daughter and my friend disappeared off the face of the Earth."
"I told you what happened." Rose interrupted her, she sounded annoyed.
"I'm talking to him." She snapped at Rose, making her eyes widen. "Cause I've seen this life of yours, Doctor. And maybe you get off on it. And maybe you think it's all clever and smart, but you tell me. Just answer me this, are they safe with you?"
"I mean, Rose is safer with the Doctor than she is with me." Alex sniggered into the phone. I chuckled a bit at her.
"I'm fine, mum." Rose replied to Jackie.
Alex put her hand in mine, holding it tightly, "never been safer." She whispered to me, leaning on my shoulder. I felt like both my hearts were going to burst out of my chest. It made me happy that she felt safe with me. Just need her to let me in now.
"Are they safe? Will they always be safe? Can you promise me that?" I bit my lip, not knowing what to say. "Well, what's the answer?"
I heard the phone being fumbled around and Ricky started talking again, "we're in." I hurried to the side of the table, dragging Alex with me.
"Right then, on the left, there's a tab, an icon, little concentric circles. Click on that."
"What is it?" Mickey asked.
"The Slitheen have got a spaceship in the North Sea and it's transmitting that signal, now hush, let me work out what it's saying."
"He'll have to answer me one day." Jackie continued to press.
"Hush!" Ricky yelled at her.
"It's some sort of message." Alex stared at the table, squinting her eyes.
"What's it say?" Rose asked as she walked over to us.
"Don't know," I shrugged, "it's on a loop, keeps repeating."
Ricky's doorbell rings, interrupting Alex's thinking. "Shut the hell up!" She yelled at the phone.
"That's not me. Go and see who that is." Ricky said to Jackie.
"It's three o'clock in the morning." Jackie exclaimed to him.
"Well go and tell them that." He said sassily to Jackie.
"It's beaming out into space, who's it for?" Alex said, rubbing her temples.
I heard someone come running back into the room Ricky was in. "It's him! It's the thing, it's the Slitheen!"
"They've found us." Ricky said through the phone.
"Mickey, I need that signal." I yelled into the phone.
"Never mind the signal, mum just get out! Get out! Get out!" Rose yelled through the phone.
"We can't, it's by the front door! Oh my God. It's unmasking. It's gonna kill us."
"There's got to be some way of stopping them! You're supposed to be the expert, think of something." Harriet said turning to me.
"I'm trying!" I yelled back at Harriet. Nobody lets me think.
"I'll take it on, Jackie. You just run. Don't look back. Just run." Ricky said to Jackie as we heard it smashing through the door.
Rose stared at me, "that's my mother."
"Right! If we're going to find their weakness, we need to find out where they're from, which planet. So, judging by their face and shape, that narrows it down to five thousand planets within travelling distance. What else do we know about them? Information!" I paced back and forth around the room.
"They're green." Rose said.
"Yep, narrows it down." I nodded
"Uh, good sense of smell."
"Narrows it down."
"They can smell adrenaline." Rose added.
"Narrows it down."
"The compression technology." Harriet said.
"Narrows it down."
"The spaceship in the Thames, you said slipstream engine?" Alex nodded to me.
"Narrows it down."
"It's getting in!" Mickey yelled through the phone.
"Oh! They hunt like it's a ritual."
"Narrows it down."
"Wait a minute!" Harriet said snapping her fingers. "Did you notice, when they fart, if you'll pardon the word, it doesn't just smell like a fart, if you'll pardon the word, it's something else, what is it, it's more like uh... um..."
Alex gasped, "bad breath!"
"That's it!" Harriet pointed to her.
"Calcium decay! Now that narrows it down!" I put on a big smile.
"We're getting there, mum!" Rose yelled to the phone.
"Too late!" Ricky replied back.
Alex snapped her fingers, "calcium phosphate, organic calcium, living calcium, creatures made out of living calcium, what else, what else," She paused, "hyphenated sodium, yes! That narrows it down to one planet!" Alex jumped out of her chair.
"Raxacoricofallapatorius!" We shouted together, hugging.
"Oh, yeah, great. We could write 'em a letter." Ricky called back to us.
"Get into the kitchen!" I yelled into the phone.
"My god, it's going to rip us apart!" Jackie screamed.
"Calcium, recombined with a compression field, acetic acid. Vinegar!" I high-fived Alex, proud she knew that. She says she's stupid and that she's screwed up, I don't see how. She was clearly very intelligent.
"Just like Hannibal!" Harriet said grinning at us.
"Just like Hannibal. Mickey, have you got any vinegar?"
"How should I know?" Mickey yelled. I rolled my eyes. Only Mickey wouldn't know his own kitchen.
"It's your kitchen." I crossed my arms at the phone.
"Cupboard by the sink, middle shelf." Alex said awkwardly. I turned my head to look at her, how would she know where things are in his kitchen? Rose didn't seem to care. I felt myself frowning a little, but I pushed the feeling to the back of my mind.
"Give it here," I heard Jackie grabbing the phone from Mickey. "What do you need?"
"Anything with vinegar!" Alex shouted into the phone. We heard Jackie going through the cabinet.
"Gherkins! Yeah! Pickled onions! Pickled eggs!"
"You kiss him, Rose?" Alex said with her face scrunched up, earning an eye roll from Rose. We heard a loud farting noise. We all let out a sigh of relief.
"Hannibal?" Rose questioned.
"Hannibal crossed the Alps by dissolving boulders with vinegar." Harriet explained.
"Oh. Well, there you go then." Rose shrugged. We poured some of the brandy in a shot glass, we toasted and drank our shot.
Mickey started talking again, "listen to this." I think he was holding the phone to the TV.
"Our inspectors have searched the sky above our heads and they have found massive weapons of destruction, capable of being deployed within forty-five seconds."
"What?" Alex asked with her face scrunched up, she looked really cute.
"Our technicians can, baffle, the alien probes. But not for long. We are facing extinction. Unless we strike first. The United Kingdom stands directly beneath the belly of the mothership. I beg the United Nations pass an emergency resolution. Give us the access codes! A nuclear strike at the heart of the ship is our only chance of survival. Because... from this moment on... it is my solemn duty to inform you, planet Earth is at war."
"He's making it up." Harriet said, completely baffled at what they're telling everyone. "There's no weapons up there, there's no threat. He just invented it."
"Do you think they'll believe him?" Rose asked wide eyed.
"They did last time." Alex said, raising her eyebrows and shrugging.
"That's why the Slitheen went for spectacle. They want the whole world panicking, because you lot, you get scared, you lash out."
"They release the defence codes..." Rose said nodding at him.
"And the Slitheen go nuclear." I said staring at the ground.
"But why?" Harriet questioned. I grabbed the sonic from Alex's boot and opened the metal shutters, seeing the Slitheen are still standing outside the door.
"You get the codes, release the missiles. But not into space because there's nothing there. You attack every other country on Earth, they retaliate, fight back. World War Three, the whole planet gets nuked."
"And we can sit through it in our spaceship waiting in the Thames. Not crashed. Just parked. They'll be two minutes away." The Slitheen in the skin suit smiled at us.
"But you'll destroy the planet, this beautiful place. What for?" Harriet questions them.
"Profit." Alex nodded. "That's what the signal is beaming into space, an advert."
"Sale of the century. We reduce the Earth to molten slag, then sell it. Piece by piece. Radioactive chucks capable of powering every cut price star liner and budget cargo ship. There's a recession out there, Doctor. People are buying cheap. This rock becomes raw fuel." The skin suit said grinning at us.
"At the cost of five billion lives." My eyes widened at them.
"Bargain." The Slitheen in the skin suit shrugged.
Alex stepped outside the room, glaring at them. "Then I give you the choice: leave this planet or we'll stop you." Motioning between herself and me.
"What? You two? Trapped in your box?"
"Yes. Us." Alex growled at her. The skin suit Slitheen laughed at her, but it faded, along with her smile. "Suckers." Alex backed up into the room, the metal doors slamming in front of her.
"Alright, Doctor, I'm not saying I trust you, but there must be something you can do." Jackie was now talking on the phone.
"If we ferment the porch, we could make acetic acid." Harriet thought out loud.
"Mickey, any luck?" Rose said into the phone.
"There's loads of emergency numbers, they're all on voicemail." He replied. I walked over to Alex, who was squinting her eyes. I liked seeing her deep in thought.
"Voicemail dooms us all." Harriet shrugged.
"If we could just get out of here." Rose said, looking around the room. "Alex, can't you beam us somewhere?"
Alex rolled her eyes at Rose, "no, the Doctor took my wand."
"Wand?" Harriet questioned, Alex turned her head and glared at her, making Harriet back off.
"There's a way out."
"What?" Rose snapped her head at me.
"There's always been a way out." Alex crossed her arms, leaning against the wall.
"Then why don't we use it?" Rose questioned.
I walked over to the phone, picking it up. "Because I can't guarantee your daughter will be safe."
"Don't you dare. Whatever it is, don't you dare." Jackie said sternly to me.
"That's the thing, if I don't dare, everyone dies."
"Do it." I turned around to face Alex. Why would she tell me to do such a thing? Her life and Roses would be on the line.
"You know how dangerous it is and you'd just let me?" I was completely baffled.
"Of course." She smiled at me.
"I might not know what it is, but same here." Rose agreed.
"Please, Doctor. Please! She's my daughter and my friend, they're just kids!" Jackie begged into the phone. "Doctor, please." Jackie continued to beg me. "She's my daughter and my friend."
"Do you think I don't know that? Because this is my life, Jackie, it's not fun, it's not smart, it's just standing up and making a decision because nobody else will."
"Then what're you waiting for?" Alex shook her head at me.
I swallowed and walked over to Alex, cradling her cheeks in my hands. I felt the corners of my mouth form into a smile, seeing she blushed. 'Now's not the time, Doctor'. "I could save the world, but lose you."
Alex smiled into my hands, putting her hands over mine, "do it."
"Except it's not your decision, Doctor. It's mine." Harriet spoke up.
"And who the hell are you?" Jackie said harshly to her through the phone.
"Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North. The only elected representative in this room, chosen by the people, for the people, and on behalf of the people I command you. Do it."
Alex rolled her eyes, "if we make it out of here, I'm destroying her ID card." Alex mumbled to me. I looked up at Rose and Harriet and grinned.
"How do we get out?" Rose questions as I watched Alex grab the briefcase containing the emergency protocols.
"We don't. We stay here." Harriet and Rose stared at me with their eyes wide, but Alex just continued looking through the briefcase. "Use the buffalo password, it overrides everything."
"What're you doing?" Jackie asked Mickey.
"Hacking into the Royal Navy." He paused. "We're in. Here it is, uh... H.M.S. Taurean, Trafalgar Class Submarine, ten miles off the coast of Plymouth."
"Right, Doctor, we need to select a missile." Alex nodded towards me.
"We can't go nuclear, we don't have the defence codes." Ricky said into the phone.
"We don't need it," Alex shook her head, "all we need is an ordinary missile. What's the first category?"
"Sub Harpoon, UGMA4A." Mickey replied.
"That's the one." I nodded. "Select."
"I could stop you." Jackie said to Mickey.
"Do it, then." Mickey challenged her.
"Ready for this?" I asked into the phone.
"Yeah."
"Mickey the Idiot. The world is in your hands. Fire."
"How solid are these?" Harriet asked while tapping the windows.
"Not solid enough, built for short range attack, nothing this big." I shook my head at her.
"Alex, can you put a forcefield around us or something?" Rose gave Alex a pleading look.
"Not without my wand." She shook her head.
"Alright. Now I'm making the decision." Rose threw her arms up. "It's like an earthquake. You can survive 'em by standing under a door frame. Now this cupboard's small so it's strong. Come and help me! Come on!" Alex and Harriet hurried over to Rose, helping her clean out the closet.
"It's on radar. Counter defence 556." Mickey said into the phone.
"Stop them intercepting it."
"I'm doing it now."
"Good boy." I smiled at the phone.
"556 neutralized." Mickey updated us.
I grabbed the phone and ran over to the cupboard. I sat next to Alex, pulling her to me, and holding onto her tightly. No way in hell am I letting anything happen to Alex.
"Nice knowing you all." Harriet said, smirking at me and Alex. There was a loud noise and the cupboard started violently shaking. I tightened my grip on Alex, pulling her closer as she hid her face in my neck.
The shaking quickly stopped and Alex kicked the door open. "I always wanted to do that." She giggled and I helped her and Rose out.
"Made in Britain." Harriet smiled.
A guard came running over to us, "are you alright?"
Harriet took out her ID, "Harriet Jones. MP, Flydale North. I want you to contact the UN immediately, tell the ambassadors the crisis is over and they can step down. Go on, tell the news!" I grabbed Alex's hand, knowing she was going to grab her ID card.
"Yes, ma'am." His eyes widened and then he ran away.
"Someone's got a hell of a job sorting this lot out. Oh, Lord! We haven't even got a Prime Minister!" Harriet threw her arms in the air.
"Well, maybe you should have a go." Alex smirked at her.
"Me?" Harriet laughed, "I'm only a back bencher."
"I'd vote for ya!" Rose smiled at Harriet.
"Now, don't be silly." We all grinned at each other. "Look, I'd better go and see if I can help."
"I thought I knew the name." I nodded to Harriet, watching her run away, "Harriet Jones, future Prime Minister. Elected for three successive terms, the architect of Britain's Golden Age." We all smiled at her.
I walked back to the Tardis, Alex made me go and get her wand before I could come to her flat for the magic carpet ride. I've never been on a magic carpet before. I'm so excited. Alex's gonna love her surprise and I can't wait to show it to her.
