Say Goodbye To Your Magic

*Alex's POV*

I was sitting sideways on the jump seat, my legs hanging off the back, playing with my wand. I bit my lip and giggled. 'I bet he would know the answer to this mystery'. I thought to myself. "Hey, Doctor? I have a question."

"Yes?" He was under the grated floor, messing with the Tardis' wires.

"Is the Loch Ness Monster real?"

I giggled as the Doctor popped his head out of the floor, squinting his eyes at me. He had a 'did you seriously just ask me that' look on his face. Don't look at me like that! That's a valid question. "Yes."

"Really?!" I felt my eyes bugging out of my head. I need to see the Loch Ness Monster. I need to. "Can we go to Scotland?"

"Seriously? Out of all of time and space you want to go to Scotland to see some prehistoric monster?" The Doctor rolled his eyes at me, going back under the grated floor. Hey! The Loch Ness Monster is badass!

"Yes!" I heard him scoff back at me. I laid down on the floor, sticking my head in the open space, letting my hair hang upside down. "Pleaseee. It's my birthday we have too."

"It's not your birthday." The Doctor continued playing with the wires, not looking at me. Yeah, you're right, it's not.

"Yes, it is. You don't even know your own girlfriends birthday?" I pouted at him.

The Doctor turned his head and bit his lip. He hurried back up and walked over to the monitor. "Alex, it's not your birthday. Your birthday isn't even for another six months." He crossed his arms at me.

"What's your point?" The Doctor chuckled and shook his head at me. "Please?" I poked his arm continuously, earning an eye roll.

"I don't even know where it is. I set it free." He shrugged at me.

"Well, why would you do that?" I pouted at him. Rose came over and sat in the jump seat. I turned around to face her, "Rose, wouldn't you like to go and see the Loch Ness Monster?"

"Oh yeah! That would be so much fun!" Rose had a huge grin on her face. "Are we going to Scotland?"

I pointed to the Doctor, "he doesn't want to."

"Really? Huge monster, huge teeth, huge appetite, probably really dangerous, and you don't want to? That's a bit rich coming from you, if you ask me."

"Yeah and he set it free!" I crossed my arms at the Doctor.

"Well, why would you do that?" Rose raised her eyebrows at him.

"That's what I said! Come on! It can be fun! We could have a stake out!" I exclaimed.

I gave him my best puppy eyes. The Doctor groaned miserably, "fine."

I clapped and jumped up and down. "Yay!"

"But not today." How rude.

"Awe." Rose and I pouted.

"Some kind of signal is drawing the Tardis off course."

"Maybe it's Nessie." The Doctor rolled his eyes at me. What? It totally could be.

The Tardis materialized somewhere and we stepped out, looking around. "Where are we?" I asked the Doctor.

"Earth, Utah, North America. About half a mile underground."

"And when are we?" Rose questioned.

"2012."

"God, that's so close, I should be twenty six and you would be thirty one." Rose pointed to me. Ew.

I made a gagging noise with my mouth, continuing to walk around the museum. "Someone's got a hobby." Besides the Doctor, who the hell would want all this alien shit?

"Blimey! It's a great big museum!" Rose said, quite impressed.

"An alien museum. They must've spent a fortune on this. Chunks of meteorite, moon dust, that's the milometer from the Roswell Spaceship." We look at all the alien bits as the Doctor named them. I stopped in front of a Slitheen arm.

"That's a bit of Slitheen! That's a Slitheen's arm, it's been stuffed." Ew. Who the hell would want to look at all this?

"Ah! Look at you!" The Doctor exclaimed and I hurried over to him and Rose.

"What the hell is that?" Rose asked with her face scrunched. I felt my heart drop a bit, face to face with one of my enemies.

"An old friend of mine well, enemy. The stuff of nightmares reduced to an exhibit. I'm getting old."

I patted the Doctor on the shoulder, "you're really not. Professor Crumbs is over three thousand years old. Compared to him, you're a spring chicken." He shook his head at me, still staring at his 'enemy'. I turned to Rose, "that's a Cyberman. Well, a really damn old one. They don't look like that anymore." The Doctor looked at me with his eyebrows raised, surprised I knew what it was, "what? Your people went to war with the Daleks, mine went to war with the Cybermen." He tilted his head at me and grabbed my hand as I stared at one of the creatures I hate most in the universe.

"Is that where the signal is coming from?" Rose scrunched up her face.

"Nah, it's stone dead." The Doctor shook his head. "The signal's alive. Something's reaching out. Calling for help." He put his hand on the glass, setting off an alarm. Within seconds we were surrounded by security pointing their guns at us. Well fuck.

The Doctor stood in front of me and Rose. "If someone is collecting aliens, that makes you Exhibit A."

A redheaded woman led us to what seemed like an office. There was a man sitting in a chair, who looked like the boss of this place. "What does it do?"

"Well you see, the tubes on the side must be to channel something, I think maybe fuel." A young dude handed him the device they were talking about.

"I really wouldn't hold it like that." The Doctor smiled at them, earning lots of eyebrows shooting up.

"Shut it." The lady that walked us down here said harshly to him. Oh damn, guessing security's tight here.

The Doctor just continued, not giving a damn about her telling him to be quiet. He was right, if there's anything he can do, it's talk. "really, though, that's wrong."

"Is it dangerous?" The dude asked. Why does this kid look sorta familiar? I definitely know this kid.

"No. Just looks silly." The Doctor reached out his hand for the alien artifact and the soldiers pointed their guns at him. The boss signaled to the guards that it was okay and handed the Doctor the device. "You just need to be," he paused, running his fingers gently over if, "delicate." It played a soft note, awe that was so cute.

"It's a musical instrument." Boss man eyes widened.

"And it's a long way from home." The Doctor nodded to him.

"Here, let me." He snatched it out of the Doctors hand and ran his fingers aggressively over it. Ew, stop doing that. That sound is ugly.

"I did say 'delicate', it reacts to the smallest fingerprint. It needs precision." The boss stroked it nicely and soft notes came out. "Very good. Quite the expert."

"As are you." He threw the instrument at the wall. 'It just got yeeted'. I shook my head, looking at the ground, laughing to myself. I'm hilarious. "Who exactly are you?" I looked up to see the man staring at the Doctor.

"I'm the Doctor." He gave him a huge grin. "And who are you?"

"Like you don't know." Boss man rolled his eyes at us. "We're hidden away with the most valuable collection of extraterrestrial artifacts in the world and you just stumbled in by mistake."

"Pretty much sums me up, yeah." The Doctor replied, still grinning.

"The question is, how did you get in? Fifty three floors down and your little cat burglar accomplices. Quite a collector yourself, they're rather pretty." His eyes trailed our bodies and I wanted to flash him into a volcano.

"I'm gonna smack you if you keep staring at us like that." Rose glared at him. "Don't know what she'll do," she pointed to me, "she's psychotic."

"True." I nodded, agreeing with Rose.

"She's English!" He turned to the boy, "hey, little Lord Fauntleroy, got you a girlfriend." He nodded to Rose. She's gonna rip you a new asshole in about two seconds. "Think I'll keep the American for myself." As he continued to eye me. Oh fuck no. No one's keeping me, bitch. I'm gonna fill his asshole with spider eggs. The Doctor grabbed my hand, pulling me behind him. "Problem?" Boss man raised his eyebrows at the Doctor, smirking.

"This is Mr. Henry Van Statten." The younger dude motioned to the man.

"And who's he when he's home?" Rose rolled her eyes at them.

"Mr. Van Statten owns the internet." The dude continued to press. Um, no. That's not true.

"Don't be stupid, no one owns the internet." I crossed my arms.

"And let's just keep the whole world thinking that way, right kids?" Van Statten was grinning proudly.

"So you're an expert on just about everything except the things in your museum." I giggled. I always thought it was funny when the Doctor got sassy. "Anything you don't understand, you lock up." The Doctor nodded to him.

"And you claim greater knowledge?" Van Statten challenged him.

"I don't need to make claims, I know how good I am." The Doctor bent down to Van Stattens level, getting in his face.

"And yet, I captured you, right next to the cage. What were you doing down there?"

The Doctor shrugged at him, "you tell me."

"The cage contains my one living specimen."

"And what's that?" The Doctor's eyes widened.

Van Statten rolled his eyes at him, "like you don't know."

"Show me."

"You wanna see it?"

"Jesus christ, do you two want a ruler as well?" Rose snorted and I rolled my eyes at the boys. The Doctor straightened up, trying not to laugh.

"Goddard," he motioned to the lady, "inform the cage. We're heading down. You, English." He pointed to the dude, "look after the girls."

"She comes with me." The Doctor put his hand around my waist, pulling me closer. Van Statten looked like he was thinking for a moment.

"Fine by me." Van Statten smirked at me and turned back to Rose and the weird kid, "go canoodle or spoon, or whatever it is you British do. And you, Doctor with no name, come and see my pet."

The Doctor grabbed my hand as we followed Van Statten and I wrapped my other arm around his, pulling him closer. He beamed down at me and I couldn't help but giggle. "We've tried everything. The creature has shielded itself but there's definite signs of life inside." Van Statten explained as he opened the cage.

"Inside? Inside what?" I raised an eyebrow at Van Statten.

"Welcome back, sir. I've had to take the power down, the Metaltron is resting."

"Metaltron?" The Doctor scrunched up his face.

"Thought of it myself. Good, isn't it?" Van Statten smiled proudly at us.

"Only an idiot would come up with that kinda name." I rolled my eyes at him. The Doctor chuckled a bit, smiling down at me. Seriously though, that's the stupidest name I've ever heard.

"Although I'd much prefer to find out its real name." Van Statten continued, glaring at me.

The man who welcomed us handed the Doctor a pair of gloves. "Here, you'd better put these on. The last guy that touched it burst into flames."

"We won't touch it then." I replied sassily to the man, who's eyes widened a bit. I heard Goddard snickering and I smiled at her. She's holding back her sass, I can tell.

"Go ahead, Doctor. Impress me." We stepped into the cage, the Doctor standing a little bit in front of me.

The door shuts behind us and I picked up some of the torture devices that was used on the alien. I showed the Doctor, who just shook his head. "Look, I'm sorry about this. Mr. Van Statten might think he's clever, but never mind him. I've come to help. I'm the Doctor."

"Doc-tor." I gulped.

"Impossible." The Doctor said completely jaw dropped.

"The Doctor?" The Doctor shoved me behind him, using his body to shield mine. He started banging on the door. "Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!"

"Let us out!" I clung onto him, shoving my face in his chest. I'm actually terrified. This can't be happening. I thought the Doctor destroyed all of them.

"Doctor"- I whimpered out, he looked down at me with his eyes bugging out of his head.

"Exterminate!" The Dalek continued to scream, making me hold onto the Doctor tighter. "You are an enemy of the Daleks! You must be destroyed!"

"It's not working!" The Doctor exclaimed. "Alex, sweetheart, look, it's not working!" I peered out from his chest, staring at the Dalek. He started laughing at it, "fantastic! Oh, fantastic! Powerless! Look at you. The great space dustbin. How does it feel?" He went to lunge at the Dalek but I pulled him back, not trusting the Dalek. He stared down at me and nodded. The Doctor wiggled out of my grasp and got in the Daleks face. I tucked my hands into my sweater, still feeling terrified.

"Keep back!"

"What for? What're you going to do to me?" The Dalek didn't say anything, so the Doctor continued on. "If you can't kill, then what are you good for, Dalek? What's the point of you?" He circled around the Dalek and it's eyepiece followed him with every step. "You're nothing. What the hell are you here for?"

"I am waiting for orders."

"What does that mean?" The Doctor's face scrunched up.

"I am a soldier. I was bred to receive orders."

"Well you're never gonna get any. Not ever." He spat at it.

"I demand orders!" The Dalek continued to press.

"They're never gonna come! Your race is dead! You all burned, all of you." The Doctor started to raise his voice. "Ten million ships on fire, the entire Dalek race wiped out in one second."

"You lie!"

"I watched it happen. I made it happen!" He yelled at the Dalek. I bit my lip, I've never seen the Doctor like this. I understood why he was upset, fuck, I'm upset too. I hate that because of the war the Daleks ruined his life, but this was a totally different man then the man I knew. The Doctor would treat any species like this, expect a Dalek.

"You destroyed us?" The Doctor's expression softened. I knew the Dalek hit a soft spot.

"I had no choice." The Doctor mumbled.

"And what of the Time Lords?"

"Dead. They burned with you. The end of the last great Time War. Everyone lost." Seeing him confront the jackass that destroyed his planet, seeing the pain in his eyes, I felt my heart breaking.

"And the coward survived." The Dalek spat at him. My Doctor was no coward. I scoffed and it's head spun around staring at me, "Alexandra Margarita Russo?"

"Yeah?" What do you want bitch?

"You destroyed Dalek soldiers, you will pay!" I rolled my eyes, thinking of when Max flashed a Dalek in our house and Justin and I had to kill it.

I squinted my eyes at him, "yeah? You and what army? Your gun doesn't even work." I laughed at it, "if you have records of a Dalek being in my house, you must know what it's last words were." It didn't say anything, so I laughed again. "Exactly."

"Oh, and we caught your little signal. 'Help me.' Poor little thing." The Doctor mocked it. "But there's no one else coming cause there's no one else left."

"I am alone in the universe." The Dalek lowered its eyepiece.

"Yep." The Doctor grinned.

But the Doctor's smile quickly faded, "so are you. We are the same." He spun around and huffed at the Dalek.

"We're not the same," He screamed at it. "I'm not." I jumped a little, I've never heard the Doctor shout like that. The Doctor came over to me, lowering his voice, "no, wait. Maybe we are. You're right, yeah, okay. You've got a point. Cause I know what to do. I know what should happen. I know what you deserve." He raised his eyebrows at the Dalek. "Exterminate." He grinned at it and ran over to the control panel, pulling down a lever. I felt angry looking at the Dalek. That thing is the reason why my Doctor's alone. That thing, is the reason he feels like he's being punished.

"Have pity!"

"Why should he? You never did." I ran over to the Doctor, tuning up the voltage.

"Help me!" Security burst through the door, grabbing me and the Doctor. I tried to get back in the room, but the Doctor pulled me close to him. I heard Van Statten screaming in the room and I rolled my eyes.

Van Statten came out of the cage, making us follow him to the elevator. "What does it look like?"

"A nightmare. It's a mutation. The Dalek race was genetically engineered, every single emotion was removed except hate." The Doctor spit out.

"Genetically engineered by who?"

"By a genius, Van Statten. By a man who was king of his own little world." The Doctor shook his head at him.

"You'd like him." I added, earning a smirk from Goddard.

"It's been on Earth for over fifty years, sold at a private auction moving from one collection to another. Why would it be a threat now?" I was sort of surprised Goddard was talking to us.

"Because I'm here." The Doctor nodded to them. "How did it get to Earth? Does anyone know?"

"Records say it came from the sky like a meteorite. It fell to Earth on the Ascension Islands, burnt in its crater for nearly three days before anybody could get near it and all that time it was screaming. It must've gone insane."

"Must've fallen through time. The only survivor." I bit my lip, the Doctor nodded at me agreeing.

Goddard pointed to me, "and you had one of those in your home?"

"Yeah." I tilted my head, still can't believe Max actually did that.

"You talked about a war?" She turned back to the Doctor.

"The Time War. The final battle between my people and the Dalek race."

"But you survived too." Van Statten turned his head to stare at the Doctor.

"Not by choice." I grabbed the Doctor hand tightly, rubbing my thumb against his knuckles, trying my best to comfort him.

Van Statten grinned and looked straight at the elevator door. "This means that the Dalek isn't the only alien on Earth, Doctor, there's you. The only one of your kind in existence." I held his hand tighter, feeling like I was going to throw up.

Security held me back as I watched them force off the Doctors shirt and chain him against a metal rack. Van Statten was standing behind a device, pointing it at the Doctor. God only knows what it does.

"Now, smile!" Van Statten grinned and sent this red beam over his stomach. The Doctor yelled out in pain, making my heart drop. "Two hearts! Binary vascular system! Oh, I am going to patent this." I tried escaping security, but the guards were holding on so damn tight.

"So that's your secret. You don't just collect this stuff, you scavenge it." The Doctor spat at Van Statten.

"This technology has been falling to Earth for centuries. All it took was the right mind to use it properly." Like you have the right fucking mind. Fuck off you twit. "Oh, the advances I've made from alien junk, you have no idea, Doctor. Broadband? Roswell? Just last year my scientists cultivated bacteria from the Russian Crater, and do you know what they found? The cure for the common cold. Kept it strictly within the laboratory of course, no need to get people excited. Why sell one cure when I can sell a thousand palliatives?" Van Statten had a smug grin on his face.

"Do you know what a Dalek is, Van Statten?" The Doctor challenged him, "a Dalek is honest. It does what it was born to do for the survival of its species, that creature in your dungeon is better than you."

"In that case, I will be true to myself and continue."

"Listen to him, that thing downstairs is going to kill every last one of us!" I begged Van Statten, who ignored me.

"Nothing can escape the cage." He sent the beam over the Doctor again, who writhed in pain. Just you fucking watch. That Dalek is going to kill everyone and everything.

"But it's woken up! It knows I'm here! It's gonna get out! Van Statten, I swear no one on this base is safe! No one on this planet!" The Doctor begged him, but Van Statten sent out his beam again.

I pointed my finger at Van Statten. "Soap on a rope, soap fell off the rope, rope shot out of my hand, rope, tie up that man." I pointed to Van Statten, who collapsed, tied up. His security guards let go of me, running over to assist him. I hurried over to the Doctor, trying to get him out of the locks.

I was thrown into a wall by one of the security guards. Van Statten stood up, no longer tied up. "Witch." Um excuse me, I ain't no witch, you asshole. Guessing by my face Van Statten knew he was incorrect, so he tried again. "Wizard." Van Statten pointed to me, grinning. My smile faded and I breathed heavy. Well, he got it right this time. "She's got powers."

Van Statten didn't say anything for a few moments. It was like he was in deep, deep thought. Van Statten stared at me and his smile got bigger. He turned to the Doctor, then back to me. "Make me a billionaire."

"No." I laughed at him, shaking my head. I shifted away from the guard that threw me against them wall.

He zapped the Doctor again, making him cry out. "Make me a billionaire." Van Statten repeated himself.

"No, get your head out of your ass." I said sassily to him.

Van Statten zapped the Doctor again, grinning at me. Hearing the Doctor in pain made my heart feel like it was breaking. I pointed my wand at Van Statten, "with this one strand of hair, you will get wealthy, not that it's fair, you invoke the spirits and want to say, you need money, O you need it today."

Van Statten took out his wallet, seeing he had a lot of cash in there and smiled at me. "Good, now I want a full head of hair." What a selfish piece of shit.

"I just made you a billionaire, go get surgery or something." He grinned again, zapping the Doctor.

"Do it." Van Statten crossed his arms at me. I looked at Goddard, who was giving me a sad look. Goddamnit.

"Oh fuck you." I spat at him. I turned to the Doctor who had his eyes closed. I hate seeing Van Statten do this to him. "Goddess smart, goddess wise, his hair's current length, I despise, make his hair grow as long as he desires."

Van Statten ran his hand through his now long hair. He titled his head at me, clasping his hands together. "I want to be immortal." I felt my jaw drop a bit. "I don't ever want to die. I want to live forever and ever and continue this scavenge for aliens." He zapped the Doctor again, "make me immortal now!" He boomed at me.

"Make him immortal, a true immortal, I ask with plea. Immortality, enter into thee." I pointed my wand at him, watching him absorb the magic.

"Give me all of time."

"What?" I asked, full of panic. Well fuck. I'm screwed. Rose's screwed. The Doctor's screwed. Everyone in the universe is screwed. I stared at Van Statten in shock, slowly lowering my wand.

"I want to control time." Van Statten grinned at me. "Make the hours dreadfully long or so short that you can't even remember what happened that day. I want to be able to stop time and start it over again, give it to me." I inched my hand to the tip of my wand, pressing the green button.

"Alex, don't you dare!" The Doctor yelled, but Van Statten shocked him again.

"You don't understand how dangerous that is. I can't do that." I shook my head at him.

"But you will." Be continuously zapped the Doctor and I couldn't bear to hear him scream anymore.

"I call forth the goddess of time, while the time is going by, bye second, minute, hour, and day"- I stopped the spell as the wind in the room picked up. "No." I whispered with a panicked voice.

"Alex, what the hell are you doing?" Justin growled at me, his fingers intertwined together.

"Some spells." I tried to act innocent, but I knew it wasn't going to work.

"There's another?" Van Stattens eyes widened at Justin. Security leaped towards him but Justin flicked his wrist, making them slam into the walls around us.

"Are you aware of how dangerous it is to give someone the power of time? You would have destroyed the whole universe." Justin yelled at me. I felt tears in my eyes, but I clenched my fist, keeping them in.

"Justin, I know! I was only doing the spell because"- I tried to explain.

Justin cut me off, "I don't care why you were doing the spell. You've proved once again that you're not responsible with your magic." He glared at me, "I'm taking them away. For good this time, Alex. I can't believe you would do something so unbelievably selfish."

"Justin, no, you can't please, just let me explain"-

"By all your power is to go, a Wizard's essence, spirit, and soul will be nothing but a lump of coal. You have acted with no responsibility, say goodbye to your magical ability." Justin continued to glare at me, shaking his head, before he flashed himself out. I looked at Van Statten, whose hair was back to normal.

I spun my wand around, "why be alone when you can whip up an Alex clone?" I looked around, not seeing a clone of me anywhere. I felt my heart break. I'm nothing without magic. I sunk to the floor, it's really gone. The thing that made me me, is gone forever. I felt tears running down my cheeks, how could I be so stupid? I stared at Van Statten, who didn't say anything to me. I heard something blasting and the room was flashing bright red, but I didn't care. If that Dalek gets out and kills me, I won't be upset. I felt arms wrap around me, picking me up. I knew the smell. It was his cologne, I'd know it anywhere. I leaned into his shoulder, not saying anything. He kept a tight grip on me and I felt him running. I was placed down, staring at the ground.

I felt a warm hand on my knee and another hand under my chin, making me look up. "Alex, sweetheart, look at me." I looked up at the Doctor, giving him a blank expression, "it's okay. We'll sort this out."

"There is no 'sorting this out'," I spat at him. "You heard him. I've screwed up too many times for another chance." I took my wand out of boot, snapping it in half and handing it to him. He gave me a hurt expression and I immediately felt worse for snapping at him. "I'm sorry..." I looked back at the floor, letting more tears fall.

The Doctor kissed my forehead, going back to whatever him and Van Statten were doing. I glared at Van Statten. He was the one being selfish, not me. I was just protecting my boyfriend, what else was I supposed to do? I wasn't going to sit there and just watch Van Statten torture the Doctor. That was not happening. I felt my fists clenching up, god I wanted to punch this man so hard that his head does a 360. Everyone seems to be believing this so far, let's just hope they believe it long enough for Rose, the Doctor, and I to get out of here.
