Alex Russo, I Love You
*Alexs POV*
I continued banging on the Tardis' doors, begging her to take me back. I turned around, a hologram of the Doctor appeared standing next to the console, flickering slightly. "This is Emergency Programme One. Alex, Rose, now listen, this is important. If this message is activated, then it can only mean one thing. We must be in danger. And I mean fatal. I'm dead or about to die any second with no chance of escape."
"No!" Rose yelled, moving closer to the hologram. I leaned against the Tardis doors, swallowing the sob that I felt trying to come out of my throat.
"And that's okay. Hope it's a good death. But I promised to look after you, and that's what I'm doing. The Tardis is taking you home."
"I won't let you." Rose yelled at the hologram. It's too late, Rose, he already did it. I walked closer to the hologram and Rose pulled me to her, staring wide eyed at the Doctors hologram.
"And I bet you're fussing and moaning now, typical. But hold on and just listen a bit more. The Tardis can never return for me. Emergency Programme One means I'm facing an enemy that should never get their hands on this machine. So this is what you should do... let the Tardis die. Just let this old box gather dust. No one can open it, no one will even notice it. Let it become a strange little thing standing on a street corner. And over the years, the world will move on and the box will be buried. And if you want to remember me, then you can do one thing. That's all. One thing." He turned his head to face us, "have a good life. Do that for me, Alex, Rose. Have a fantastic life." I felt my heart breaking into a million pieces. He promised... The hologram faded and I bit my lip.
"You can't do this to me." I yelled where the hologram once was. "You can't. Take me back! Take me back!" I tried pressing buttons on the Tardis' console, but nothing seemed to work. Harper pulled me away, sitting me down on the jump seat.
"Alex." I looked around the room, where have I heard this voice? It's not Roses and Harpers. "It's me, the Tardis. I'm in your head."
It's the Tardis! I mentally slapped myself, remembering when she explained to me what was going to happen to me when Margaret tried to rip the world apart. "Yes?" I mumbled in my head.
"We're going back for him. You have to look into my heart Alex, we both know how dangerous that is. But we have to save him. He's my thief and your world. We have to go back. This isn't the end for him."
"I know." I looked over at Rose, who was still screaming and crying, frantically pushing random buttons on the console. Rose bolted out the Tardis doors and I grabbed Harpers hand, "here's the keys to my apartment, the lair is in my freezer, go through the portal. You'll find your way home."
"What about you?" Harper stared at me as she grabbed the keys from my hand.
"I'm going back for him." I gave Harper a small shove and she hurried out the doors.
The doors slammed shut behind Harper, "Alex? Alex? What're you doing?" I heard Rose yell. "Alex, let me in!"
I ran my hand over the console, "it's now or never." The console opened and I stared into her heart, feeling her enter my head. I stood tall as I felt the Tardis hurtling through the time vortex. The golden dust surrounded me. I've never felt so powerful.
I heard the Emperor yelling, "you will not escape!"
The Tardis doors swung open and I walked out. I looked down at the Doctor, who was staring at me in horror. He stumbled backwards, falling to the ground as he continued to stare at me, "what've you done?"
"I looked into the Tardis and the Tardis looked into me." I looked down at him.
"You looked into the Time Vortex, Alex, no one's meant to see that." The Doctor shook his head at me. He forgets, time lives in me.
"It's safe for me, Doctor."
"This is the abomination!"
"Exterminate!" A Dalek fired at me, but I held up my hand. The bolt freezes and reversed back into the gun.
"I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself. I take the words, 'Bad Wolf' and scatter them in time and space. A message to lead myself here."
"Alex, you've got to stop this. You've got to stop this now. You've got the entire vortex running through your head. You're gonna burn." The Doctor cried to me.
I snapped my head at him, "I want you safe." I felt tears running down my face, "my Doctor. Protected from the false God."
"You cannot hurt me. I am immortal."
"You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence, and I divide them." I raised my hand, watching a Dalek turn into golden particles. "Everything must come to dust, all things. Everything dies." I looked around, watching all the Daleks turn to golden dust. "The Time War ends."
"I will not die. I cannot die!" I watched the Emperor turn into dust as well. I raised my arms, Jacks dead. I can feel his presence still lingering here.
"Alex, you've done it. Now stop. Just let go." The Doctor continued to beg me.
"How can I let go of this? I bring life." I felt Jacks heart begin beating again and I smiled.
"But this is wrong! You can't control life and death!" The Doctor yelled at me.
"But I can. The sun and the moon... the day and night." My voice began to tremble, "but why do they hurt?"
"The power's gonna kill you and it's my fault." The Doctor lowered his head, clearly upset.
"I can see everything." His looked up at me again. "All that is, all that was, all that ever could be."
"That's what I see. All the time. And doesn't it drive you mad?" The Doctor stood up next to me.
"My head..." I whimpered to him.
"Come here." The Doctor grabbed my hands, pulling me to him.
"It's killing me..." I continued to whimper.
"I think you need a doctor." He leaned forward, kissing me as gently as possible. I felt the power leaving my body and everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up in the Tardis, looking around. I saw the Doctor and I scrambled to my feet, pulling him into a tight hug. I grabbed ahold of his shirt, kissing him as passionately as I could. I pulled away, slapping his arm, "you broke your promise!"
"I'm sorry."
"Why did you take the power out of me! Doctor, you know my body can handle it! Yours... can't." I stared down at his hand, seeing the golden light covering it.
"Alex Russo." He let out a small laugh, "I was gonna take you to so many places. Barcelona, not the city Barcelona, the planet. You'd love it. Fantastic place, they've got dogs with no noses." The Doctor and I laughed a little, "imagine how many times a day you end up telling that joke and it's still funny!"
"Doctor, we can still go, just let me take you to the wizard world, they can prevent this." I tried to grab his hand, but he pulled away from me.
"Maybe you will. And maybe I will. But not like this." The Doctor shook his head at me. No... Please don't say that. Please don't go.
"Doctor, don't say that!" I felt my heart pounding in my chest.
"It's a bit dodgy, this process. You never know what you're gonna end up with." The Doctor yelled out in pain and I moved closer to him.
"Doctor!"
"Stay away!" He shook his head at me. I burst into tears as he winces in pain. It's all my fault.
"Doctor, I'm sorry! It's all my fault. Please just take us to my apartment and we can go to the wizard world." I cried out to him.
"Alex, I absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex, and no one's meant to do that. Maybe you are, but I'm not. There's nothing they'll be able to do to help me. Every cell in my body is dying." He shook his head at me, "Alex, I'm gonna change. And I'm not gonna see you again. Not like this. Not with this daft old face." He let out a dry laugh, "and before I go..."
"Doctor, don't say that! Just let me help you for crying out loud!" I yelled again, I moved closer to him, but he backed away.
"Alex. Before I go, I just wanna tell you, I love you. I love you more than anything in the universe." He had a couple tears raining down his face and they made my heart hurt.
"Doctor, please don't! I love you too! You can't change! Please let me help you."
"Alex, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And d'you know what?" I shook my head and he gave me that stupid huge grin. "So was I." I forced a smile, knowing that was his catchphrase. The Doctor smiled at me for a moment, before orange energy explodes from his skin, blasting out of body. I fell backwards, shielding my eyes from the heat and light. I watched as his face began to change and that he had a full head of hair.
The light finally faded, revealing the new Doctor. "Hello! Okay... oo." He gulps. I stared at him as he ran his tongue over his teeth and his eyebrow furrowed. "New teeth. That's weird. So, where was I? Oh, that's right Barcelona." He sent me a grin and I ran over to him, jumping on him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his torso.
"Doctor, I'm so sorry." I held onto him tighter and I felt his arms tighten around my waist.
"You don't have to be sorry for anything, Alex." The new Doctor put his face in my neck.
"I killed you! I caused you to regenerate!" I shouted.
"You saved me." He took his face out of my neck, kissing my cheek. "And I saved you. Kinda romantic if you think about it." I shook my head, only him.
The Doctor set me down and I stared at him, "Doctor, I can handle the heart of the Tardis! I can handle the time vortex, you know that! You didn't need to do that!"
"I knew you weren't going to give it up. You would've died if I didn't take it from you. I was not letting that happen to my Alex." The new Doctor shook his head at me and I looked at the floor. "Where's Rose?" I looked up at the Doctor from the Tardis floor, who titled his head at me.
"She's at home." I shrugged, "she's probably going to flip shit when she sees your new look." I inched closer to him, shuffling my feet, "do you still love me?" I remembered what he told me before he regenerated, he might hate me now because I literally killed him. "It's alright if you don't, I understand."
"Of course I do." The Doctor pulled me into a tight embrace, "I love you so much, Alex Russo."
"I love you too, Doctor." I put my head on his chest, listening to his hearts. They were beating really fast...
He pulled away and shouted in pain, "uh oh." I moved over to him, letting him lean on me. "The change is going a bit wrong."
"We need to get Crumbs! He'll know what to do!" I nodded to the Doctor.
"Nah he's too busy being an old man." The Doctor pulled a lever down on the Tardis' console, "I haven't used this one in years!" The Tardis started violently shaking, throwing us both off our balance.
"Doctor, what the fuck are you doing?" I yelled at him.
"Oi! Watch your mouth." I rolled my eyes at him. Not going to happen, we've been over this, love. "Putting on a bit of speed. That's it!" I held onto the railing for my life as the Doctor continued messing around with the buttons. "My beautiful ship! Come on, faster! That a girl!" The Doctor grinned crazily. "Faster, want to break the time limit?"
Okay I know I'm a psychopath, but I'm not this crazy. "Doctor! Get your shit together! Stop!"
"Oh don't be so dull." I'm the dull one? I'M THE DULL ONE? "Let's have a bit of fun, let's rip through that vortex!" The Doctor fell over his smile fading, "the regenerations going wrong. I can't stop myself, uh my head." But his crazy smile came right back, "faster! Let's open this engines!" There was a loud beeping noise and the Doctor laughed like a complete nut job. "We're gonna crash land! Hold on!" I rolled my eyes and held on tighter to the railing, hearing the Tardis smash into anything that was in its way. Oh my fucking god.
