03 ; only an acquaintance

After her rather interesting first encounter with the pompous boy that was a little too proud with everything he did (even his mistakes), Bridget thought it was at least safe enough to title him as an acquaintance.

Not friend.

Acquaintance.

This emphasis was strengthened easily because of something entertaining that occurred afterwards. It turned out that a day after she met the weird male specimen, she saw him again in a broom store located in Diagon Alley.

Of course, by natural instinct, she immediately walked out of the store, but her acquaintance followed her out.

The next thing she realised was that it wasn't just one person that stalked her out of the store. James Potter's parents were looking at her curiously, their heads tilted.

It made her think of an owl, which made her snort quite hard that snot was on the floor.

The two grown ups, whom had been dressed quite formally shared each other a knowing look.

''I see why James calls you his friend'', she recalled them saying in a joking manner.

She immediately liked them.

Yet, she was rather pissed at them for saying the ''F'' word.

Friend, of course.

Bridget had originally thought James was adopted because of how nice his parents were. But, after 20 solid minutes of his parents urging her to give out her address and parents names, she could tell that the obnoxious boy popped out of the grinning woman in the matching glasses.

With her also-pestering uncle, the Potters had been invited to her house a few times.

Lucky her.

▬▬▬

''Wake up dummy!'' shouted a voice that was blood to her ears.

Bridget groaned. If someone were to annoy her, being woken up in the morning was the right way to go.

She buried her head deeper into her fluffy pillows, and tried to drown out the nasally voice.

''For gods sake!'' screamed James. ''Wake up! We're going to Hogwarts today!''

As soon as that magical word was said out loud, Bridget jolted upright from her bed.

''Oh my god! Today's the day!''

She began grinning like a maniac as she quickly darted off the love of her life (her bed, of course), and began to furiously brush through her wild jungle hair.

An amused James was making himself comfortable on the mattress as he began to watch her whilst eating some popcorn that was already sitting on his lap.

Bridget paused untangling her hair and turned to face the smirking teenage boy.

''Are you telling me you actually slept over the whole night?'' she asked appalled.

Of course her Uncle had invited the Potters once again over for dinner time. All she remembered was going to bed after eating a satisfying amount of lasagna, and nothing else.

He shrugged. ''My parents had to leave for work and your dearest uncle insisted on me to stay over. And also this rather fascinating muggle snack is quite delicious, I must say. I stole a few packets and chucked them into my school trunk, in case you're wondering.''

She rolled her eyes.

''That's popcorn, you buffoon. And also, never steal my food again,'' she said in a serious and threatening voice.

James didn't seem fazed by the slightest, as his grin got wider and wider.

''That looks creepy, stop smiling. You look like the joker,'' she muttered.

''Who's the Joker?'' he asked curiously.

▬▬▬

After running into a wall that lead her to a secret platform, Bridget thought that she was messed up for daring to do such a thing. Yet, after looking around and seeing she didn't die, she felt a tad bit calmer. She turned and saw the boy next to her smash his glasses after trying to swat a fly, and realised that she was a perfectly normal human being. Thank god for her.

The scarlet train laid in front of her was honking, it's gleaming paint shining because of the sun. People were crowded all around the place, with mothers and fathers kissing goodbye to their loved ones. Many older students were stuffing around and laughing at the most random topics.

Bridget sighed. Hopefully she would make a good friend.

Turning around, she saw James blowing on his red nose, and she rolled her eyes at him.  She couldn't picture herself as a seventh-year and cracking up at something Potter said. ''Come on, lets go and find a compartment.''

She dragged a protesting James into the train, and dropped off her school trunk to the area filled with bags. She left her owl in the pet compartment area, and watched James amusingly as he struggled to tie his shoes.

''How on Earth do these muggles use laces?'' he said annoyed, staring at his shoes.

Bridget stifled a laugh. ''Why did you even buy them in the first place?''

He mumbled. ''Never you mind.''

''Wait,'' said Bridget, pausing to stare at him. ''You wore those shoes yesterday. How were they tied up properly?''

Seeing a blush forming onto the nervous-looking boy, she immediately snorted.

''Did your mum tie them up for you?''

''Shut up.''

▬▬▬

As the train began to slowly move, Bridget wondered how on earth James managed to find a compartment by himself without her help.

Bridget being the very responsible one, tutted at James after discovering he made a rather tight knot onto the laces of his shoes, and tried unknotting them.

This meant to everyone else around them, a girl was looking very interested in a shoe she was holding whilst trying to navigate herself without looking up. Also, a proud-looking boy was marching alongside her in only one shoe.

The sock that was visible to everyone looked rather mouldy.

And quite embarrassing.

It had taken 10 minutes for James to find a compartment, but nevertheless he still managed to get a good empty one that wasn't littered.

Still in shock, Bridget decided to drown out the annoying person sitting opposite her by burying her head inside a book.

The compartment door had slid open after a while, and she only realised after she heard someone scream like an idiot.

''James! It's so good to see you buddy! Where were you during the holidays?''

After realising that James actually had a friend, she knew it was some stupid kid as worse as he was. By natural instinct, she immediately drowned them out.

That is, until she felt someone drop down next to her on the seat.

''Oh god, leave me alone'' she muttered.

Lifting her book up to say something disrespectful, she paused after getting a good look of the guys face.

This boy had dark raven hair that was styled to perfection. His robes were messy and his grey eyes had sparkles in them. That smile etched onto his face was sure to make a bunch of girls swoon.

And he looked like a mischievous creep.

''I'm Sirius Black!'' he yelled smugly, tearing the book out of her hands, and chucking it onto the floor. Before Bridget had the time to react and take the book off the ground, her hand was held by the mischievous boys own one, and she was being shook repetitively.

''Oh god!'' screamed Bridget. ''Not this again!''

With a shrill scream, she ran out of the compartment, leaving a trail of noises that would put a banshee to shame.

After an awkward moment of silence, the boy piped up once more.

''What's wrong with her?''

James shrugged.

''She drinks dragons blood, that's what.''
