1. Case Of The Missing Ghosties

"Okay but metaphorically speaking, if they tried hard enough, penguins could fly."

"No, Camden, you idiot, they can't fly, we call them flightless birds for a reason, I-"

"Both of you jackasses shut up already," Donna snarled as she went through her record collection. "Let's do something, I'm bored."

It wasn't a very interesting day, they'd spent the entire afternoon in Donna's bedroom listening to music and talking nonsense. Benaiah's just been in corner writing poetry for the last few hours.

As always.

"Hmm okay lemme think," Alec frowned. "What do we usually do when we're bored?"

Camden snorted and leaned up against Alec, who was on floor, using Donna's bed as a headrest. "We eat."

Donna hummed. "Some Ghosties do sound good right now."

See, Ghosties were these totally awesome white chocolate fudge pieces sold at a gas station a few blocks down a dirt road. They were only fifty cents and quite possibly the best thing ever.

Ah, ghosties.

"They do sound good." Benaiah softy spoke and looked at the trio. "But we've got no money."

All eyes turned to Donna who smiled wickedly.

"Let's go losers, I'll get the stealth jacket."

The 'stealth jacket' aka Donna's oversized jean jacket with way to many pockets, was the jacket she used when she would rob stores. It was perfect, oversized so there wouldn't be any obvious bulges, and a fuck ton of pockets.

Not to mention it was stylish.

Benaiah got up and started to pack his little bag ( it was BMO from Adventure Time morphed into a backpack , it was the coolest thing he owned) he always brought a notebook and juice boxes wherever he went. The bag was a great addition to his person.

"Fine, but I'm taking no part in this, I'm buying my Ghosties, like a good citizen."

"Sounds lame, but okay."

And off they went.

They all hopped on their bikes and began to pedal down fourth street. The gas station wasn't a long way from Donna and Alec's house, but they did have to take a road through the woods to get their. Benaiah was kinda scared of what could be lurking out there so Donna usually went through it with him nice and slow.

Her brother and Camden on the other hand acted like complete fools and beckoned spirits to come from the tall, dark trees of the forest.

"Boy!" Camden shouted. "It would be absolutely terrible if a ghost were to possess me right now!"

Alex smirked and played along. "Totally, I would just hate to be possessed."

Camden snickered. "Did I mention ghosts suck?"

Benaiah frowned. "Not funny guys, haven't you heard of the Naperback Trio of '79?"

He looked out into the woods with a terrified expression on his face. "Three girls, about our age, were kidnapped, and tortured in those woods, and apparently they still haunt them til this day."

Camden snorted. "Whatever, it's all a bunch of bologna, my mom grew up here and she said it's just an old folks tale, sure the kidnappings and murders did happen, but no ghosts are around here.

Finally they made it out of woods and onto some rocky roads, they could see the gas station from here, and it was swarmed with about three cop cars.

The kids road into the parking lot and skidded of their bikes to check out what was the cause of all the commotion.

As they walked up to the store they could see the entrance door of the store was shattered, nothing else appeared to be wrong though.

They saw Mr Kinsley, the old man who runs the store, Alec approached him to ask what had happened.

"Someones broke into the shop! Strangest thing in the world."

"And how's that Mr Kinsley?" Alec asked.

"Well, they broke in and all they stole were the ghosties, nothing else, not a single thing was touched."

Alec frowned. "So, not a single ghostie remains in the store?"

"No one son, not one."

Alec frowned and went back over to his friends to report on his findings.

They frowned and started to question what was going on. They looked at the store buzzing with police and finally after a minute of silence Donna hopped back on her bike.

"Well, that's it then, but seriously, who breaks into a gas station and steals fifty cent ghosties?"

The rest of them followed her out onto the road and back onto the path wedged between the woods.

Whilst they were driving back though, something weird happened.

Benaiah was just ideally looking off into the forest when he saw it. A ghostie wrapper.

He thought it was strange, so he stopped and looked more into the forest, Donna stopped with him.

"What's wrong?" She looked into the forest as well.

"Nothing I just..."

A gust of wind came over the forest pushing the ghostie wrapper towards him, it hit him right in the face. He quickly grabbed it and tossed it to the ground. When he looked up he saw that the gust of wind had pushed more ghostie wrappers forward.

At this point Alec and Camden had drove back to the couple to see what was taking them so long.

"Holy shit." Alec cursed.

Camden smiled. "That must be where the robber is, we have to go in."

Donna smiled mischievously. Benaiah knew she was totally in. He frowned and backed away.

"I-I'm not going in there, you guys are crazy."

Donna studied his face and smiled softly. "Of course, we can drop you off at your house, but I'm totally going in there!"

He frowned, he hated being left out of things, and he hated that his friends treated him like a baby. He gulped and decided right then he needed to step his game up.

"You know what, I'm in, let's do it."

Camden whistled. "Benaiah the Brave, how sexy."

Donna laughed. "Let's go."

They found a trail of ghosties leading them into the forest, it was getting dark and Benaiah was starting to worry.

"Hey guys, so say we do find someone out here, what's our next move?"

Camden shrugged. "It's probably just a hungry hobo, nothing to worry about."

Benaiah was more calm after that comment. Camden was right, whoever it was they probably didn't what to hurt them, they were probably just hungry, or just really liked ghosties.

They came to a stop when they saw a pile of ghostie wrappers in the middle of the forest.

Donna bit her lip. "Let's look around."

They examined the surrounding area, it was nothing much, just trees, bushes, and a few rocks, Benaiah knew there was a creek around here somewhere too.

"Well that's just strange, I guess whoever it was just ran away." Alec said.

Benaiah was slightly upset, they had gone all way out here for this? A pile of ghostie wrappers, which was terrible, littering is just terrible.

"Well, we should go home, I want to pick all this mess up first, animals could eat these."

Alec stopped him before he could touch a wrapper. "Maybe we should tell the police what we found, they would wanna know right?"

Donna scoffed. "As if, they don't care, not really, some rando stole some ghostie, it's not a big deal." She smiled at Benaiah and motioned for them to start picking them up.

They each couldn't have picked up maybe two wrappers before something strange happened.

A gust if wind, stronger than the one that blew earlier had started around them. The wrappers began to lift themselves off the ground and twirl in the wind. It wasn't weird til the wrappers started to blow faster and it wasn't soon before they had made a circle surrounding the foursome.

Benaiah froze, he felt like he couldn't move, he quickly grabbed Donnas hand and squeezed it, she squeezed back.

Finally the wrappers stopped and the wind calmed down to a light breeze. They all caught their breath and calmed down.

"What the fuck was-"

Suddenly a rock flew passed the gang and hit a tree behind them.

They looked at each other with wide eyes and took this at their invention to take off back to the path.

But as they ran Benaiah heard something, a voice, calling to them.

To him.
