Chapter Thirty-Two: The Endgame Of Ceceillia Mendez, Pt. One
Meanwhile, at the Gold Lily Diner...
"All of South Carolina is in an uproar after learning what happened to Thierry and Lyle," Craven noted, the drag king glancing at this tablet as he and the other drag coven members, the twins, Mark and a now-pregnant Eric, Ceceillia's father Miguel, and the foursome were at the diner talking all things regarding the kidnapping of the moon wolf and his couple. "It's a good thing that this news hasn't reached nationwide or worldwide, or else everyone would wanna see Mendez get burned alive."
"This is a nightmare," Miguel said, rubbing his temples as Snow handed him a cup of soothing tea. "My daughter's completely unhinged, wanting two Alphas who have completely pledged themselves to each other and their destined mates. She's completely gone off the deep end this time."
To Chance and Chace, "I'm so sorry that this all had to happen, and after I had thrown her out of my family home. Her mother and I should've done more to keep her in line, kept under strict lockdown in her room or had her sent to live with her relatives over in Madrid. Nguyen twins, you have my word that I will make sure that she will soon face the strictest punishment once we finally reel her in."
"It may not be enough, Alpha Mendez," Arianna told him as she joined him. "This has been prophecized that your daughter would be so far gone that keeping her contained won't be any good. Knowing her, she might just go further into eliminating all of us, including you and your family."
"Can she really do that?" Lachlan wanted to know.
Marithe gave him a pointed look. "They say that hell hath no fury than a woman scorned, L.," he remarked as Chance rubbed his back. "And when it comes to an Alpha female, her scorned fury is multiplied ten times over. I still can't believe that I almost fell in line with her wiles. Thank Goddess that the potion that you made for her and she gave to me solidified my role as an Omega merman. But I'm now afraid that Ceceillia will make sure that no one will escape her bloodied warpath."
"That'll never happen," Chace vowed fiercely. "None of us is going to die today by that witch!"
"You can't know that for sure, though," Lachlan rebutted. "This is ten times worse than what happened when Marithe and I were Alphas and we broke Thierry's heart. At least he and I have finally seen the light and want to do better. Ceceillia's too damn stubborn to see that destined mates are a real thing."
"Tell me about it," Mark commented, his pregnant mate rubbing his back. "Now that I think about it, I don't think that she and I might've made it this far if we actually went through with the original plans to marry. And to be real, I don't think that her family liked her very much when I first introduced them to her back then. Mom thought she was a bit too...foxy while Dad thought she was too much of a flirt with the other males back in Charleston."
Summertyme scoffed. "And I thought that the Gruesome Threesome were bad," she said snidely. "Back to the matter at hand, though, what do you think she's planning to do with Thierry and Lyle?"
Just then, Chance's phone rang with the femme-fatale's ID flashing on his screen. "I dunno, but I have a feeling that we're going to find out," he said. Miming for everyone to be quiet, he answered the phone and put it on speaker. "Hello?"
"Well, well," came the voice of Ceceillia in a snake-charmer purr. "This is quite the surprise. I was worried that you were going to stiff me, especially when I have two innocent souls in my grasp."
"Thierry and Lyle," Chance remarked. "We've heard about their abduction."
"Ah, so you have noticed. Anyway, I'll cut straight to the chase. You and your brother have made a grave mistake in not choosing me as your bride and wife. You had every opportunity to ditch the dweebs that Druscilla turned from Alphas to Omegas, yet you wanted them for yourselves. You're not theirs, and they should've rejected the goddess' offer so they could at least burn in hell for their sins. But don't worry, they're still going to get what's theirs."
"What do you mean by that?" Chance asked, keeping his voice even.
"Simple. In exchange for Thierry and Lyle, I want you, your brother, those silly little boytoys, and your friends as well as my family at the address that I've just sent to you. If you're not there within the hour, then you all might as well stop planning for the couple's nuptials and get to planning for their funerals. And I won't stop with their deaths. I'll keep killing and killing until I'm bathing in an endless pool of blood. This just proves that no one rejects me and gets away with it."
Chance fought the urge to growl. "We'll be there," was all he said.
"Good boy," Ceceillia crooned. "And don't worry, I'll make sure that Thierry and Lyle will be home safe and sound...though I can't truly promise you that. Tick-tock goes the clock. Until I see you, I'll be sharpening my claws. Ta-ta for now, TTFN!"
The line disconnected.
"Fuck!" Miguel cursed, his eyes glowing Alpha red as he stood to his feet. "She's not going to follow through with her promise. I know it."
"How's that?" Taranna asked.
Miguel gave the coven leader a glare. "If I know better, she's still going to kill everyone including the moon wolf and his second-chance mate," he intoned. "And she won't stop with them and us. She'll slaughter everyone who's against her until the whole world is one giant graveyard of a playground covered with blood."
"That's not going to happen!"
All eyes whirled to the newly-arrived Thierry with Lyle following suit, neither of the two being worse for wear save for a few bruises. "Thierry! Lyle!"
"How did you two escape?!" Arianna asked as Velvet came to them with a first-aid kit on hand.
"Thank the heavens that my Mother and Aunt were watching her every move and thank goodness for Persimmon for informing them," Lyle intoned. "But they're working on something to finally put Mendez in her place."
"How's that?" Taranna asked excitedly.
Thierry smirked, his eyes glowing with power. "A little bit of magic and a goddess's revenge can do great wonders," he said. "For now, go along with Ceceillia's plan. Trust me when I say that it'll all make sense and everyone will be back here at the diner safe and sound."
"Right," Arianna said. To her coven and her cousin's, "Witches and magic users, you'll stay here. Eric and Mark, you two will head to the Mendez compound and keep the Alpha's wife and son company. Thierry, you and Lyle will join them. The rest of us will head to wherever Ceceillia is. If Thierry's word is correct, everything should be wrapped up by dinnertime."
With the exception of the magic users, everyone gathered their things and headed out to their cars. "Boy, this is like being in the 'I Spy' TV series. And you think you know everything about hostage situations," Aquilla remarked.
"Girl, this is the supernatural world," Anita replied to her cousin. "And when it comes to Druscilla the Moon Goddess, anything can and will happen!"
Meanwhile, Chance and Chace led their mates to their waiting car. "Ready to finally put it all to bed, boys?" Chace asked the Omegas as they fastened their seatbelts before Chance gunned the engine.
Marithe and Lachlan glanced at each other. "We've never been more ready than ever before," the former replied firmly. "The sooner this is finally put to bed, the sooner we can finally get married and live happily ever after."
"Damn right," Chance piped up, eyes glowing blue. "Time to rock this joint and put a femme-fatale scorned out of her misery."
It's about to go down, folks, and let's just say that it only takes a powerful incantation from Druscilla herself! Don't go too far because part two of "The Endgame of Ceceillia Mendez" is coming up next! Stay tuned!
