Chapter Thirty-Four: Reflections and Collaborations
The Gold Fin main pack house, two weeks later...
All was quiet for the citizens of Covington Springs, South Carolina with the departure of the exiled Alpha formerly known as Ceceillia Mendez. It shouldn't go without saying, gentle reader, that everyone and anyone who knew her was relieved to learn that she was destined to be cursed for a very long time as long as she wore the iron mask. No one was really sad about her punishment, given that she tried to kill off Thierry Lemieux, his destined second-chance mate Lyle Arohnson, Chance and Chace Nguyen and their Omega mates Marithe Deinos and Lachlan St. Martin, and their expanded circle of friends (including Miguel Mendez and his wife and Omega son as well as Mark and Eric Emerson and their respective pack and coven).
In a way, everyone could finally sleep in peace now that the fallen Alpha was finally out of their lives.
And now, talk was soon giving way to a planned joint wedding between the foursome (Chance, Chace, Lachlan, and Marithe), Eric and Mark, and Thierry and Lyle with the invitations being prepared and the two covens led by Taranna and Arianna were working on the arrangements possible for (according to Sagitarrina and Honey), the "grandest wedding that would blow both William and Catherine's wedding and Harry and Meghan's out of the water." As four the two Omegas and the moon wolf, the trio were finally catching their rhyme after days of tuxedo fittings and press conferences.
"This has been a journey for all of us," Marithe said as he and Lachlan brought in some leftover sandwiches that were from a previous luncheon the day before. "Who'd thought that the three of us would finally get our happily-ever-after endings after one fateful encounter back at Sammons Falls Academy in Massachusetts?"
"Well, I never knew that I would get this far if I hadn't known about the supernatural or my true lineage as a moon wolf," Thierry remarked, taking a roast-beef sandwich half. "Back when you were an Alpha werewolf, I was dead certain that everyone at school would ignore me the way that my old school in Austin did."
"That's for sure," Lachlan agreed, pausing to sip on a glass of lemonade. "But a part of me always knew that you were destined for greatness, Thierry, even when I was an Alpha demon. When word of your arrival at SFA reached my ears and how you came from a hard life full of status-minded family members, something told me that you were more than a stereotypical victim of bullying who just gave up."
"I knew that he was special the moment I met him back then," Marithe commented. "The moment he and I locked eyes with each other, I felt more than a physical attraction towards him. I felt as if he was...latently keeping a specific power locked away that had me wanting to know him. A lot of good that did since I ended up making the biggest mistake of my life as well as Lachlan's."
Thierry nodded. "If you could go back in time when you two were in jail and were offered to get a fresh start, would you still accepted it?" he wanted to know.
Marithe sighed. "If you had asked me that back when I was still in denial, I would've said no and probably wanted to remain in jail for all I cared," he admitted, lowering his head in shame. "I actually wanted to kill myself when I heard that you and Lyle were engaged."
"Same here, but I would've accepted my second chance without a heartbeat," Lachlan remarked. "I wanted to kick Marithe's ass back when he and I were Luciane and Matt and he wanted to reject you, but I guess you already knew that. If there's anything I knew about Omegas and how an Alpha should and shouldn't do when one's is bonded to an Omega, it's that an Omega and an Alpha needed each other to balance each other out. Most Alphas would literally duel to the death to have one. And when we were in prison for murdering your sisters and cousins, all of the prisoners and guards kept reminding us of how foolish Marithe and I were for breaking your heart."
"That's for sure," Marithe agreed, "but I thought that I was doing the right thing. Huh. Kind of sounds like a good confession or a preview for a memoir, don't you think."
Thierry thought for a moment. "Kind of does," he mused. "And it might just work."
"Wait, what?" Lachlan exclaimed, sitting up in his chair. "Thierry, what are you thinking?"
"Just hear me out," the moon wolf said, raising his hands in a gesture of peace. "You both knew that I wrote my memoir 'Good Boys Never Lie' based on my weblog, right?"
Both Omegas nodded. "It's been a hit all over the world," Lachlan replied.
"Well, it's because of Electrique and Sagittarina's contacts that the book became a reality. And I think that you two should be able to tell your stories- how you two first met me, how you lost everything after breaking my heart, your lives after choosing to stay with the Gruesome Threesome, your life in prison, and even your journey so far. Hell, I think that you both should co-author the book entirely or keep your stories separate. All the same, I think thar the two of you and I should collaborate and maybe even form our own little committee of Omegas who got second chances after our lives turned upside down."
"You think that could work?" Marithe asked. "There's still a lot of people who are still anti-Matt and anti-Luciane, you know, even after all of this?"
"You never know unless you try," Thierry replied smoothly. He extended his hand for a handshake. "What do you say boys?"
Marithe and Luciane, formerly known as Alphas Matt Rosseaux-Yanez and Luciane Moranox, looked at each other briefly before facing Thierry once more. "We're in," they said in unison before shaking Thierry's hand. "So what do we do now?"
"We begin telling your stories," Thierry said as he led them to a nearby computer station near Chance's office.
In only four hours, Thierry Lemieux, the main focal point in this journey, would help his ex-lovers-turned-fellow-Omegas create a joint novella and a start-up author website and blog that would become the newest consolidation born out of a simple meeting between a good boy who never lied and an Alpha werewolf when they met back at boarding school.
And just like that, all was well. The only thing left to do now...was for our Omegas to finally tie the knot with their destined lovers.
Ladies and gentlemen, I cannot help but feel bittersweet that this story (and my "Good Boys Never Lie" duology) is coming to a close. This was a journey like none other to begin, but the best part of it all is that it's finally nearing the end. And it's so, given that the next chapter involves the joint wedding of the year! So put on your Sunday best, my fine friends, and get ready to see how it all ends!
