Chapter Eleven: Heart-to-Hearts and Reprogrammed Omegas
Gentle reader, Lachlan St. Martin was a former Alpha now Omega merman who knew two things were certain since his new life began. One, Druscilla and the other supernatural deities did not take kindly to those who think they can try to fight against their destinies.
And two, he knew that second chances would not come easily for one who tries to go their own way instead of following the rules.
During his speech at the town hall meeting, Lachlan decided to speak his truths from the heart when it came to making his first impression in front of the citizens of Covington Springs and the deities alongside the two witch covens and even his ex Thierry. The moment he faced the crowd, he knew that it was his only chance to make things right, so he went for the route where he confessed his sins. "I was a fool for letting Marithe, formerly known as Matt, bully me into breaking Thierry's heart that day," he had stated that morning. "If I'd known what my ex-mate was feeling that day and his fears of losing his heart after I and Matt mated with him; I'd fought harder to stay by his side. But it's too late to think about what could've been. Druscilla and Amalia offered a chance to start fresh as Omegas for me and Marithe, and I wasn't going to waste that chance. So for me being an Omega and having to earn my forgiveness is going to be the turning point to finally get my life together. If it means giving up my Alpha life and being submissive to my Alpha mates, then so be it. I don't expect a lot of forgiveness to come that easily, but I do want to be a team player and maybe even live life as a merman. If you all let me, I would love to work with you all and start over. And Thierry, I do wish nothing but the best for you and your second-chance mate. I do love you, but only enough to let you go so you can be happy. I would like it if you and I became good friends in the future. And to Lyle, you're one lucky hellhound. Treat Thierry the way that I wished I had if pride and cowardice hadn't gotten in the way. Love and respect him not only as a moon wolf and Druscilla's son, but a soulmate in general."
That speech earned him a resounding applause as he willfully submitted himself to the binding magic from the deities, Taranna, and Arianna alongside their respective covens and even Thierry. "You did wonderful," crooned Chace as he wrapped the Omega in a hug. "You're going to do just fine."
The same couldn't be said for Marithe as Lachlan only watched his partner-in-crime tell off the townspeople and Thierry before spitting in the latter's face and doing the same to Lyle. Lachlan could only cry in humiliation as Velvet and Electrique led him outside for some fresh air, a few police officers offering to take him back to the main house at Gold Fin so he could rest.
"Lachlan?"
Said Omega snapped out of his reverie to face a concerned Thierry and Lyle, both of them dressed in earth-toned semi-formal wear as the moon wolf came to sit on the bed. "Sorry, I was lost in thought," Lachlan said, sighing heavily. "This morning was not what I imagined. I'm so sorry for what MArithe did, Thierry. Trust me when I say that I had nothing to do with it and-"
"I believe you," Thierry interrupted. "And believe me, I didn't expect one of my exes to show some contempt towards me for what happened to him. And just when I thought that he was a good guy when he was an Alpha werewolf and I first met him."
"His loss," Lyle harrumphed. To Lachlan, "How are you holding up?"
Lachlan took a deep breath. "Honestly? I'm both upset and mortified after this morning. I'm mad at Marithe for being such a...well, baboon-brained buffoon for going off on you two and spitting in your faces. If I could bet thousands to toothbrushes, Druscilla and the other gods and goddesses are ready to fight right about now. I know I would. And don't get me started on those witch covens. Arianna and her cousin are not to be messed with and I bet that they're ready to turn Marithe into stone."
Thierry bit back a smile. "Well, Lachlan, let's just say that Marithe has been very naughty for harboring negative feelings towards his new life," he said cryptically. "All I can tell you is that my family and the witch covens talked with me about taking a drastic approach towards my other ex."
"How's that?"
Suddenly, a loud scream pierced throughout the large packhouse which made the trio jump.
Lachlan's eyes went wide, a tide of goose flesh crawling up and down his skin. "Was that-"
"That was definitely Marithe who's now awake," Lyle drawled, grinning widely. "And Lachlan, all I can tell you is that you're lucky to have taken that big bite of humble pie because if you hadn't...you'd be suffering the same fate."
"Don't I know it," Thierry hummed before his face turned serious. "Lachlan, I don't really hate you. I knew that Marithe bullied you into rejecting me back when you two were Alphas. All I can tell you now is that you have this opportunity to do better and be better. And though you can't be an Alpha again or get back your old life as Luciane, I do wish nothing but the best for you with the Nguyen twins. Let them work with you. Let them into your life and show you who you can be as an Omega. From what I know now, Omegas- both male and female- feel so liberated after the purging of the feral and those who go against my mom. It's more so for the loners. Promise me that you'll go all the way with your vow, Lachlan. Don't make the same mistake again. Times will be hard, but you can count on me as an ally as well as the witches, my heavenly relatives, and even the townspeople. Give this a chance."
Lachlan nodded, a fresh set of tears ready to fall as he wrapped his former mate in a hug. "I'm so sorry, Thierry Lemieux," he sobbed. "I promise to be better and live my new life as an Omega."
"We believe you," came Chace's voice as he, in his shirtless glory, came into the bedroom with Eric and Anita following behind him. "You were amazing at the town hall meeting today and everyone knew that you meant every single word. Chance and I believe that you're going to go the distance and make things easier for yourself. Just remember your promises and be true with everyone as well as the rules that you've been given. But most of all, take advantage of this second chance. It's not often that the supernatural deities offer one to those who are condemned for their crimes."
"Amen," hummed Anita. "As for Marithe? Well, Chance and the others are dealing with him right now."
"I hate to be in his shoes," Lachlan breathed, wiping his eyes. "What happened to him?"
"You don't wanna know," Eric commented. "Trust me."
