Assuming.

It's something we humans do almost daily.

Assuming everything.

But we shouldn't.

Because we're not always right.

Just because someone does something bad,

Doesn't mean they're a bad person.

I like to believe

That there's good in everyone.

It may just be a tiny, microscopic little piece,

But I believe that it's never too late for anyone.

I've seen examples for myself.

There's a boy,

In my school,

Who one would consider "bad".

He drinks beer.

He might do drugs.

He runs from the police.

He's been arrested before.

But,

Underneath all of that,

He's just someone trying to be responsible for everything

A child shouldn't be responsible for.

Because when he's home,

He gathers weeds from his grandmother's garden

And mows their front lawn.

And that shows me,

That despite his past mistakes,

There's still a big part of him that cares.

The trick to think the way I do,

Is to believe in our people.
