Labels
A/N: Suggested to me by @BoxesOfChocolate
So, I'm going to talk about labels today.
We all get a label slapped onto us at one point or another, right? Here are the most common ones I've seen:
Girl Likes Starbucks or Chipotle: classic white girl
Girl Enjoys Sports: must be a boy
Girl Likes MCR: she must be an emotional emo wreck with mental issues
Girl Likes to Wear Skirts: girly girl
Girl Likes One Direction: Classic teenage girl
What the heck, people?
The thing that sucks about these labels is that people are getting shunned because of them in certain social situation. The "classic white girl" might get turned away because she is too "common". Maybe that girl actually LIKES the food at Chipotle or the coffee at Starbucks. What's the big deal?
A girl could get teased by the popular crew because she likes to play sports and hang around with guys. What's the big deal about that, huh? Is there something wrong with having guy friends?
I'll tell you what, I've got two great guy friends and I would do the same things for them that I would do for my lady friends.
I also really hate the labels that are glued to people because of the bands they like. So what if she likes MCR? THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHE'S A MESS AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED BECAUSE SOMETIMES HER FAVORITE BAND SCREAMS IN THEIR SONGS! SHE COULD BE A GREAT PERSON WITH A LOVELY PERSONALITY BUT NOW YOU'RE HURTING HER!
SO MAYBE SHE DOES LIKE ONE DIRECTION (and even if I don't, I will defend these people) THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHE'S A TEENAGER WHO'S HEAD-OVER-HEELS FOR HARRY STYLES AND WHO HAS A SECRET SHRINE DEDICATED TO HIM IN THE DARKEST CORNERS OF HER CLOSET. THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHE SQUEALS 24/7.
Labels need to stop being put all over people. They hurt. All they do is further divide social groups, and that doesn't help anyone.
We're all humans, for goodness sake!
WHY ARE WE OUT THERE TEARING EACH OTHER DOWN BRICK BY BRICK AND ENJOYING THE DOWNFALL, HUH? CAN'T WE JUST ALL LEARN AND ACCEPT DIFFERENT HOBBIES AND VIEWS AND INTERESTS, PLEASE? I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T AGREE, DON'T PUT A LABEL ON SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THE THINGS THEY LIKE!
The biggest problem with humans is that we're all well aware of our flaws, we just don't want to try and change them. We all get like this. Don't deny it.
Hell, I'm a loudmouth, awkward turtle who has a tough time controlling her sharp tongue. I know it. I'm not really trying to fix it, am I?
However awful it is to some of you, there are others out there who might find it endearing.
BUT THAT'S JUST MY POINT! HUMANS HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS AND WE'RE ALL BEING LABELED AND SEPARATED AND JUDGED BECAUSE OF THEM!
WHAT ARE WE, CANS OF FOOD?
NO. WE NEED TO STOP. ALL IT'S DOING IS KILLING SELF ESTEEM. IT COULD EVEN BE KILLING OTHER PEOPLE.
UHG.
THE WORLD REALLY DOES SUCK SOMETIMES. WE BLAME SOCIETY.
WE ARE SOCIETY.
WE NEED TO START FIGHTING BACK. WE NEED TO TAKE THE STEP TOWARD THE PERSON THAT IS OUTCASTED BECAUSE THEY ENJOY A CERTAIN ACTIVITY.
AS LONG AS THAT PERSON IS NOT SCARY AND/OR DANGEROUS.
Stay safe, kids.
^I'm leaving that in because it was such a sudden break from my senseless rant and proves very clearly that I am quite the awkward turtle.
ANYWAY.
ALL OF YOU OUT THERE READING THIS, TAKE A STAND. IF YOU'RE BEING REJECTED, TEAR THE LABEL OFF YOUR HEAD. DON'T CHANGE WHO YOU ARE, CHANGE WHO THEY ARE.
TAKE YOUR "common stereotypes" AND TURN THEM INTO SOMETHING UNIQUE.
WE ALL DESERVE THE CHANCE TO BE HEARD AND TO BE RESPECTED.
Respect.
Somehow I always end up typing in caps in all of these chapters.
I guess I just feel very strongly about these things.
DO YOU AGREE WITH ME?
THEN RISE UP!
*roars*
Or should I say...
*rawrs*
I'm sorry I'm done I'll leave now bye.
Peace Out,
Rawr
