So lately I've been getting quite a few questions about having your period for the first time. The ladies out there who need advice, here it comes.

1. Tell your mom. Please, ladies. Tell. Your. Mom. She can help a lot, trust me. She will definitely give you better pointers than I can.

2. Don't sweat it. Yeah, periods freaking suck. I'm not going to deny it and lie to you and say it's all "flowers and love and growing into womanhood" because it's really not. But soon it'll become almost like a routine. Torturous, yes, but a routine nonetheless.

3. DON'T WEAR WHITE UNDERWEAR. PLEASE. IT WILL KILL THEM AND STAIN THEM AND IT WILL BLEED THROUGH.

4. Happened in school? Either tell your teacher, or if you REALLY do not want to do that (and trust me, I am in that boat with you) go to the bathroom and shove a wad of toilet paper in your undies.

5. You think it's coming? DON'T WEAR TIGHT PANTS TO SCHOOL. PLEASE. TO BE HONEST, YOU WILL BE 100% BETTER OFF WEARING A DARK COLORED SKIRT BECAUSE THEY DON'T CLING TO THAT AREA. JUST MAKE SURE YOU WEAR SHORTS UNDER IT.

6. Always be prepared. As crazy as this sounds, you might be best off just keeping a pad in your backpack or pocket or SOMETHING when you turn eight or nine, because I'm pretty sure (though not completely sure) that's the earliest you can get it. If you haven't gotten it yet, GET A PAD NOW AND KEEP IT WITH YOU FOREVER BECAUSE IT WILL BECOME YOUR MOST ANNOYING BEST FRIEND.

7. You can always go home from school, ya know? Your mom should understand. She's a lady too, after all. And, believe it or not, your dad will understand too. He's been dealing with women for a while.

8. Emergency. Chocolate. Enough said.

9. Don't panic! NO NOT YET. I KNOW I'M THE ONE YOU WANT TO F—sorry. But seriously, don't panic guys. This happens to every girl out there, as much as it sucks. But aye, we're tough little creatures. We can get through it. And we've all got your back. ;)
