~Stupid Cupid - Chapter 6
After Leo ran off, I went to my cabin to grab a hair tie. On my way, I passed the Big House and heard a strange voice coming from inside. The curiosity was eating me alive, so, I silently opened the door and saw Chiron and Rachel there but a green mist was surrounding Rachel. I stepped closer and heard a scratchy and ancient voice coming from Rachel.
A child of death and sea
Work as one in a quest to free
That shall save or end all earth's kind
Or loose the light that they'll never find
I backed up from the door as the mist disappeared and Rachel stumbled. What was that? I didn't know the answer but I wanted to find out. I hadn't noticed I was about to trip down the stairs until Jason came up behind me and caught me.
"Are you alright?"
"Rachel.. Mist.." I stumbled on my words and Jason took me by my shoulders.
"What happened, Sky?"
"I'll tell you tonight with the rest. I need to think through some things"
"Okay. Let me walk you to your cabin. I think you need to take a breather." I nodded and let Jason walk me to my cabin where he gave me some water and left. He was a great guy, really.
I sat in my cabin completely alone, drinking water, shedding tears, screaming at nothingness, and telling people to get lost for two hours. I don't know why I was freaking out like this but after seeing what happened in the Big House, everything strange and crazy that's happened to me crashed down on me. With everything coming at me, I lost it. I had always been the one to take what was coming head on. I took the hurtful words and gestures (especially from Zach) only letting a few tears fall. Now, I had finally snapped and I was taking it hard. I stopped to take a drink of water after screaming again when there was a knock on the door.
"Sky? Are you okay?" I was about to yell curses and hexes at them when I registered the voice. Nico di Angelo.
"I-" my voice betrayed me and vanished in the wind.
"Can I come in?" I walked over to the door and opened it slowly. Nico was standing there leaning on his sword. When the door opened, he put his sword away and hesitantly walked in.
"What are you doing here?" I tried to ask but it was barely over a whisper.
"I heard you yelling and screaming. You didn't sound like you were okay and judging from the red eyes and tear streaked face, you aren't."
"You really know how to make a girl feel like a million bucks." I laughed humorlessly.
"Sorry. What happened?"
"Why do you care?" I regretted the words before they even left my mouth. The last time I said that, Zach and I had ended our friendship.
"I... I know what it's like to feel helpless." I tensed at his statement. I know he didn't mean to, but I was offended and I was already broken.
"So, first I'm weak and now I'm helpless? Did you just come here so you could kick me while I'm down! You don't know anything about life. Just go back to being a loner if you're going to hurt people!" Nico's eyes widened and I saw his concern turn to a cold, hard scowl and I knew I'd ruined any chance of a friendship with him.
"I can't believe I thought you were different. You deserve everything you've gotten and everything you'll get." I stepped back and watched him leave.
"Stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid!" As Nico left, I was forced into reality and I wanted to crawl into a hole.
So, after I had finished telling myself how stupid and idiotic I was, I calmed down and fell asleep. Bad idea. Really bad idea.
It was dark out side and I could hear footsteps ahead. I was in the woods at camp but they were different. They felt empty and cold like nothing good ever existed. There were more footsteps and then shouting.
"No! It can't be like this!" I distressed voice called out.
I followed the voice and saw Nico, Jason, Percy, Leo, Piper, Annabeth and another girl. The girl had darker skin, curly cinnamon hair, and warm golden brown eyes. She was absolutely gorgeous and her hand was on Nico's shoulder. Only then, did I notice the lifeless body in Nico's arms. I saw unnaturally pale skin on the body wearing an orange shirt with light blue skinny jeans. Their hair, that was once a gorgeous blond, was tangled and matted in blood along with their shirt. With a horrible realisation, I saw I was the lifeless body.
"Do you want this to be your future?" a voice said behind me and I turned to see them. Standing there was a shadow.
"Who are you."
"Stop asking things I can't answer. If you want to have a future of life, listen carefully."
"Okay."
"Before your fifteenth birthday, you will face a terrible tasked. You and a child of Hades will be paired together to face a growing enemy. Defeat the enemy and you will have a better future." the shadow turned me around and the scene changed.
In front of me was a beautiful thing. I was laughing in a Camp Half-Blood shirt walking with someone. They slowed behind me and started to tickle me. I squeaked and tried to run but didn't get far. They grabbed my hips and turned me around attacking me with tickling. I fell to the ground and the person picked me up spinning me around. They kissed my lips and carried me to the woods. I was then pushed into a tree and tickled again.
"Mercy! Mercy!" I laughed and the person released me. I stood on my toes and pecked his lips.
"Sky!" Someone yelled from the edge of the woods and I turned to walk off but the person pulled me back kissing me passionately. I pulled away panting slightly and looked into the eyes of...
I woke with a start as the conch horn blew. I looked outside and saw that it was beginning to turn dark. It was time for dinner. I stood, pulling my hair out of my face and throwing it in a messy bun. Splashing my face with water to get the tear stains off of my cheeks, I walked to the pavilion. Jason and Leo ran up to me and then Annabeth, Percy, and Piper. I was about to say 'hi' when I came across the scar made by Nico. I left the group quickly to walk around it and joined them again. They looked at me strangely but didn't say anything.
When we sat down, a boy with curly hair and a Rasta hat came running/prancing towards us. He smiled at us and then looked at me confused. Percy nudged him and high - fived him. The boy sat down next to my brother and said greetings to everyone except me.
"Who's the new comer?" the boy asked as he waved slightly at me. I smiled in return.
"Grover, Sky. Sky, Grover." Leo introduced us and we waved again. Awkward, much?
"Grover, here, is my best friend. He's a satyr and my protector. He helped Chiron find me when I was accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt - it was actually Lord Ares - when I was twelve." Percy spit the name, 'Lord Ares' out like it was poison.
"Cool. I guess you helped save him from a painful and slow death by Zeus." I laughed and thunder cracked. I rolled my eyes at the temperamental god of the sky.
"Sky is my half sister. She's fourteen and a half and loves to read as I've noticed since she refuses to go to bed without reading three chapters of her book. She's been here since Monday but was passed out for two days after defeating three empousai with a pocket knife on a broken ankle." Percy told him and he looked slightly impressed.
"Looks like children of Poseidon have a knack for entering Camp passed out after epic battles with monsters that they defeated." Grover said and I looked at him quizzically.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"You mean that Percy hasn't told you about when he arrived?" I shook my head and Grover laughed.
"When Percy first arrived, he had to carry me unconscious moaning 'food' with the Minotaur chasing him. When he got to the edge of the Camp entrance, the Minotaur caught up with him and he killed it with it's own horn. He then carried me into Camp and passed out for, like, a week." Grover explained and I couldn't help but laugh at Percy and his red cheeks.
"Whatever." Percy muttered.
We continued to mess around and laugh. Jason kept looking at me indicating that I need to explain what happened but I was going to wait for the current conversation to end. I couldn't help but notice that Nico wasn't there that night. I was about to ask if anyone knew where he was when Jason ended my life. Okay, no. He said that I had something to tell them.
"Sky has something to explain to us. I found her flipping out earlier today." Jason told everyone. They all looked expectantly at me.
"I was walking by the Big House and I heard an ancient voice from inside. I saw Chiron and Rachel but Rachel was the one with the voice and had green mist surrounding her. She said, 'A child of death and sea, Work as one in a quest to free, That shall save or end all earth's kind, Or loose the light that they'll never find'." I told them and they looked grim.
"I think Rachel got the Delphic spirit back. I also think you heard the next Great Prophecy." Annabeth said sadly.
"We just ended the last two!" Leo whined and Percy let his head fall back and groaned.
"Not another one!" Percy said. I don't think these 'Great Prophecies' are all that great.
"It could happen years from now." Piper tried to encourage but everyone looked at her doubtfully. "With our luck it won't though," she grumbled after a second.
"What could it mean?" I ask them.
"A child of death and sea would be a child of Hades/Pluto and a child of Poseidon."
"Why did you put Hades' Roman name but not Poseidon's?" I asked.
"Nico has a half sister that was born from Pluto named Hazel. She's at the Roman camp now."
"Curly cinnamon hair, dark skin, and soft brown eyes?"
"How'd you know?" Leo asked.
"Dream. I'll tell you guys after the prophecy."
"Work as one in a quest to free... They'll be sent on a quest together." Annabeth put in.
"That shall save or end all earth's kind. If they succeed then they'll save the world." Jason said.
"Or loose the light that they'll never find. Bye-bye Olympus." Leo finished.
"What if it isn't talking about Olympus?" I suggest.
"What do you mean?" Leo asked me.
"Leo, you have the power of fire. Fire is light." I saw his eyes narrow and he looked scared.
"Where would you get that idea?" His voice faltered and I felt guilty.
I explained my last two dreams to them. Percy's eyes widened when I mentioned the guy and stuff (I still don't know who it was) but I waved him off. I told them about everything. From the hellhound at school to my dream today. After I finished, they stayed silent for awhile. The silence was deafening and I was becoming anxious.
"Looks like we have another Great Prophecy on our hands." Piper broke the silence.
"But who are the children of death and sea?"
"Well, it's could be, Percy and Hazel, Percy and Nico, Sky and Hazel, or Sky and Nico." I flinched when the idea came to mind. I'd just get abuse if we were paired together. If not from him than myself.
"Three Great Prophecies in a row. That has to be a record." Leo said jokingly.
"You're happy for a guy who has a fifty fifty chance of dying." I said. Leo shrugged and we parted ways. As I walked to my cabin, I saw a figure. I got closer and saw Nico.
Oh gods. Help me.
