~Stupid Cupid - Chapter 10

The ground split right where I was standing and I fell through the crack. I threw up my arm to try and grab something but there wasn't anything. I could hear Nico scream my name but it sound far off. I closed my eyes waiting for something to hit but nothing came. Instead, I felt a cold hand on my arm grasping it and pulling me back up. I fell onto the person that saved me and opened my eyes to see Nico.

"Oh gods. That was close. Thank you." I said breathing heavily. He had such amazing features.

"I told you to stop." His voice wasn't cold, it as more teasing and I-told-you-so sounding.

"Maybe I should listen to you more often."

"It'd be smart." I was still on top of him and I hadn't realized that our lips were only centimeters about.

I only have to lean in a little farther...

I started to lower my head and he didn't pull back.

"Sky?" We jumped apart and Nico helped me up.

"Leo. Hi." I said as a brushed the dirt off me.

"What were you two doing?"

"Um, I was falling and Nico pulled me up. We lost balance and fell. Clumsy me." My voice was shaky and my throat was dry.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes. We're sure. Thank you, Leo." Nico butted in and I saw a small fire light on Leo's hand. He quickly put it out but I still saw.

"Alright. Chiron sent me to get you two. I think it's about the prophecy. Come on." I looked at Nico and then we followed Leo to the Big House.

"It had to happen sooner or later." Nico muttered besides me as we briskly walked to meet Chiron

I really wish we could have had this later. I thought as my hand started to shake.

Leo was walking in front of us, quite quickly might I add. Nico and I were almost fast walking to keep up with him but we soon gave up since he was practically running and we knew our way there... Well, Nico knew his way there. I guess Nico noticed my shaking hand or I was really pale because he stopped me and turned me so I was looking in his eyes.

"Everything's going to be fine. If we're sent on a quest, I'll be there with you, okay?"

"Okay." I said but I was very hesitant.

"Sky." He said my name in a warning tone and it made me very intimidated. He was really scary when he wanted to be.

"It's just... What if they don't send me? What if they send Percy instead because he'd be the obvious choice?"

"If that was the case, they wouldn't have asked you to come." I looked at him biting my lip.

"I guess..."

"Good. Now, come on." He grabbed my arm and started to pull me towards the Big House.

I was very reluctant and pulled against his strong grip to try and get away from the evil house. His grip only got tighter and I finally gave up letting him drag me wherever he pleased. I didn't even move my feet, he seemed like he was having an easy time pulling me anyway. He wasn't even struggling. Either he's really strong or I'm lighter than I look.

"Or it's both."

"Let me guess, I said that out loud?"

"Yes. You really need to work on that before you say something you'll regret." Like saying that I seriously like you? I had clamped my hand around my mouth before thinking that, just in case.

"Shut up." I already knew I was blushing by the way he smirked at me.

"Awe. I made you blush." I knew he was going to tease me.

"Whatever." I muttered as my cheeks turned an even darker shade of red.

We then walked slowly to the Big House talking mindlessly about unimportant things. We were probably making everyone waiting for us agitated but Leo was the one who left us in the dust. Blame, Mr. Valdez. It isn't our fault that our guide ditched us, thank you very much. When we finally got to the porch, we walked in and met Chiron in the room with the ping-pong table.

I noticed four odd things. One: there was a dark skinned girl with cinnamon coloured hair that I recognized to be Hazel. Two: a pile of gems were piling around Hazel's feet which seemed very strange since the house was elevated and, come on. A pile of priceless gems? Three: There was a tall slightly built but awkward looking boy standing behind Hazel. Four: Leo wasn't there which was strange since he had walked ahead of us and was probably part of this meeting.

"There you are. Where is Mr. Valdez?" Chiron asked as he noticed it was only Nico and I.

"He practically ran ahead of us. We thought he was already here. Isn't he?" I asked.

"Well, we'll have to send someone out to find him after the meeting. He probably just went to Bunker Nine." Chiron said puzzled but dismissing it.

"What's this about?" Nico asked finally saying something.

"Well, the other day our oracle, Rachel, recited what I believe is the next Great Prophecy."

"Okay, I've heard some things about 'Great Prophecies' and they don't sound that great." I stated and crossed my arms.

"We will be talking about them in a second. First, Sky, I would like you to meet-"

"Hazel Levesque. Daughter of Pluto, Roman. Brought back from the dead by Nico, her half brother. She accidently started the giant war but delayed it by sacrificing herself and when being judged she gave up her chance to go to Elysium to save her mother. She's the only person able to ride the fastest horse in the world, Arion and has the power to make and find tunnels along with sensing, bending, and making gems appear. When she first had this power, anyone who used the gems as money suffered greatly including... Leo's great grandfather?" I had interrupted Chiron and randomly spouted out things that I didn't know I knew nor did I know if they were true. Judging from the shocked faces, though, I'm guessing I got it right.

"How did you...?" Hazel asked as I came out of the trance.

"I don't... I don't know." I was suddenly feeling very dizzy. Black dots danced in my version and I stumbled back into Nico who caught me and steadied me.

"I... It just came to me." I mumbled as Nico helped me sit down.

"She's been blessed by Apollo and Artemis along with Aphrodite. I had a vision from Apollo himself." We all looked towards Rachel who was leaning on the railing of the staircase looking ready to faint.

"Rachel, please sit down and explain what you've just told us. I know it might be hard since you just recently got your gift back but please, try." Chiron said gently as he helped the young girl sit down.

"When Sky was born, Aphrodite, Artemis and Apollo took pity on her because Zeus was already becoming suspicious of Percy." Rachel took a breath and continued, "To try and lead him off track from finding out about both children, they blessed her. Apollo gave her the ability to look into the past. She will often have visions from past events and know facts about people she's never met. Artemis gave her the gift of archery, agility, and stealth. It'll help her in battle. Aphrodite gave her charm speaking and beauty. Though her charm speaking will not be as strong as Piper it will be strong enough to control anything living unlike Piper who, as we all know, charm spoke a dragon head to life."

"You mean Festus?" I asked suddenly and completely off topic. Rachel nodded her head slightly still looking tired and worn.

"Since those gods blessed her, it made her appear slightly different from other Poseidon children like Percy. Her blond hair is from Aphrodite, her tan skin is from Apollo, and her crystal eyes are because her original sea green eyes were mixed with Artemis' silvery ones."

"Can I just say, that is extremely cool?" I asked as I chuckled lightly. Everyone but Nico looked at me with blank faces. Nico had that ghost smile on his face and I smiled back at him.

"Rachel, you look like you could use some sleep. Why don't you go and rest?" Hazel offered kindly. Rachel excepted and went back up the stairs.

"Alright. As I have already said, I think we have a knew Great Prophecy on our hands." Chiron started the meeting. He recited the prophecy to Hazel who nodded glumly.

"Since it clearly calls for a child of Poseidon and one of Hades. Percy and-"

"I spoke with my father and he told me that it must be Sky and myself." Nico said interrupting Chiron.

"Nico? Are you sure?" Chiron asked and I wasn't sure if he meant about me going or Nico going. Maybe even both of us.

"Yeah. I'm sure." He replied calmly.

"Then I guess you two should get ready. You leave at sunrise." Chiron said and dismissed us.

Nico told me to wait for him outside because he needed to talk to his sister. I obliged and sat on the wood railing on the porch. I sat for what seemed like forever - but was probably only five minutes - until Nico came out. I jumped from the railing to walk with him but instead fell. Nico caught me before I hit the ground and I blushed like mad. He cocked an eyebrow at me.

"I hope you don't fall all the time on the quest." He said and smirked as I hit his arm.

"Shut up, Neeks." The nickname slipped from my mouth before I could even register it.

"Neeks? Alright. I'm going to have to come up with a nickname for you though." I shrugged and he walked me to my cabin where I started packing. Percy wasn't back from the meeting, (he had been especially quiet) so, I packed in silence.

When Percy finally walked into the cabin, he did not look happy. He paced around the room swinging Riptide like a mad-man. I looked at him after completely stopping what I was doing. I was way too scared to finish packing considering Riptide was a few feet long and he didn't seem to be watching where it went. Percy continued on like this for several minutes until he stopped right in the middle of everything. He turned straight to me and I was frozen in fear. His eyes held so much emotion that they looked like the sea in the middle of a storm.

"You." He pointed Riptide at me and took a step closer. "Are you insane? You've barely been here for a week and you're going to take a quest? For Zeus' sake, you're not only going on a quest but with Nico di Angelo to make things worse!" He was screaming and I was terrified until he mentioned the Nico thing, I became angrier than him.

"And what's wrong with Nico?"

"He's a son of Hades! He brings death wherever he goes. I've had to save him so many times because he attracts death like bees to honey. Nico might think he can handle things but he can't. Being a child of the Big Three is bad enough but when your dad is the guy that rules the Underworld, everyone wants to kill you. When Nico was ten I had to save him from a Manticore that ended up taking Annabeth! We lost two lives, almost three, on that quest. One of the people that died was his own sister! Artemis herself had to step in, Sky. Now you want to go on a quest with Nico as your only protection? You might as well go to the Underworld now because you're as good as dead with Nico." Percy was just letting off steam, I knew that already. The problem is, Nico was my friend and I shouldn't be hearing things like that about my friends from my own brother.

"I don't care, Percy. I trust Nico. I don't care if you don't, I do. What happened isn't Nico's fault. It was another demigod problem and the gods know we can't change that fact. I'm going whether you like it or not." With that, I closed my bag and stormed out of the cabin. I wasn't spending the night with him. I heard Percy yelling at me, but, I ignored him.

I walked all the way to the Hades cabin muttering curses and threats. When I finally got there I had calmed down. The sight of the dark cabin and sudden change in temperature made me feel better. I knocked on the cold door and waited for it to open. After a minute or two, I heard a crash, cursing, and then the door opened revealing Nico. He looked like he was about to go to bed and I realised that it was about ten at night.

"Sky?"

"Can I stay here tonight?"

"Uh. Sure." I guess he could tell I didn't want to talk about it. I walked in and fell asleep on an empty bunk. I heard Nico say something the sounded like, 'Night, Sky. Sweet dreams.' before I was completely gone. Luckily, no evil demigod dreams found their way into my head and I slept soundly. Thank gods.
