Wow 2016 has come to an end! That's one of the best things that's happened this year.

This will be likely the longest post I've ever made because the majority of it will be a recommendations/what I've been into this year list. I've been meaning to do this for weeks now and If you're not into that, u can skip to the end where there's some art, life updates, and resolution talks, but first we will be doing the recommendations, segregated by category with commentary.

R E C O M M E N D A T I O N S

WEBCOMICS

Bad Bad Things
I've talked about BBT many times before but it is definitely one of the best webcomics out there , and personally the best one I've checked out so far.

An ongoing dystopian coming of age story about four endearing and well-written losers who live in a very interesting and harsh post apocalyptic environment. All of the current cast members are LGBT, and two of them are specifically trans. Also Maria is the best.

NeoKosmos
NeoKosmos is an ongoing science fiction story about kids trapped in isolation and it is VERY VERY dark. It has some of the most interesting special effects for some of its pages and all of its characters are a delight, in addition to the whole thing so far being extremely engaging. You will speedread the thing in under an hour. Also I'm 99% sure that the entire cast is trans, so 👍👍.

Ava's Demon
Ava's Demon is easily the most beautiful web comic I have ever seen. Along with some excellent foreshadowing, plotting, and character designs, it's a long, but delightful read.

Also I have to show you the art.

I didn't show any of the spoilers or later stuff (which I'd argue is even better), but wow. I have to note that every single panel is like this.

Also the protagonist is bi, a main character is gay, another is hetero, and the rest are unconfirmed.

BOOKS

Three Dark Crowns
A fun half-soap opera, half-Game of Thrones-esque fantasy tale of three sister queens from three different factions who must kill each other in some of the best worldbuilding I have seen in a while. I have plenty of criticisms of it, but check it out of you're looking for a less serious, but still dark and interesting fantasy with one of the best characters of all time (ARSINOE).

More Happy Than Not
This is the heart wrenching book this year, a mostly contemporary story of teen boy finding love, memories, and plenty of why-did-this-have-to-happen-he-doesn't-deserve-this-I-love-him moments. Again, a few criticisms of things, but you need to read this if you want to cry. Has a gay/bi main character.

Lizard Radio
One of the most unique stories this year, lizard radio is about Kivali Kerwin, a teen with lizard powers surviving a government camp that has an odd connection with her. Confusing, but unique workdbuilding and perhaps not enough action are the only criticisms I have of this, the rest is great.

The main character is trans and she has a romance with a bisexual girl.

Nimona
A graphic novel about super villains and monsters. Semi-main character Nimona is incredibly relatable and the rest of the cast is great. Some pacing issues and the art style might throw some people but I had a blast, reading this and the ending is beyond superb. There's a male/male romance too.

Lumberjanes
Made by the same creator as Nimona is lumberjanes, Nimona's supernatural contemporary cousin made for a slightly you get audience. It's a comic book series about five girls at a Girl Scout camp who go on some very odd adventures. I only have three issues at the moment but i need all of them. One of main characters is a trans girl and two others are in a relation ship, but I don't think any of the characters are straight.

The Walls Around Us
Well-done nonlinear storytelling + an intense writing style = a real work of art. Story of bad Girls doing bad things and ghosts getting revenge. Can be confusing at times, but the ending 👌👌. The first thing on this list with no lgbt characters wow.

The Monster on the Road is Me
Okay I'm only several chapters into this, but I gotta recommend it. A unique story about a narcoleptic boy in a Japanese town plagued Demon-related deaths and crows. Lots of crows. It is one of the few teen comedic books out there and it is incredibly hilarious and dark simultaneously. Also the main character is really good and relatable. No lgbt characters so far tho.

CARTOONS
Steven Universe
What were you expecting. Steven Universe is a cool show about aliens, teenage boys who look like they're ten, gay rocks, and sadness. What's not to like.

Bojack Horseman
I watched two entire seasons in 24 hours, if you're wondering what I think about it. The only criticism I have really is more LGBT characters and the third season drops off in writing quality.

MUSIC

Okay for the rest of categories I'm gonna be more brief.

Anamanaguchi and Studio Killers are electro pop bands who are pretty cool. The former is quite instrumental, but the latter has some really nice lyrics.

That Poppy is a singer mostly known for her extremely odd videos, but her music is really good as well. Chewing Gum and Money are my favorites.

Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are still doing good in their collab video Side to Side, which you should check out.

WICKED is an underrated classic rock band with some cool pumped up songs and I still listen to U2's 2015 album please don't judge. It's good okay.

Also check out Rose Kemp, Nicole Dollanganger, Neil Cicierega, and The Jazzpills, they're even more underrated than WICKED.

Also Porter Robinson and Madeon are 👌👌

MOVIES
Uhhh literally the only movies coming to mind that I've liked in a while is Star Wars: The Force Awakens (fun tone and characters) and Moana (really good songs). Granted I haven't seen too many movies, but that's kind of sad imo.

MISC
A Chick Called Albert is a cute YouTube channel about a quail and other birds.

One Punch Man (aside from a homophobic joke Side character) is a good anime with some good action.

I still like the Sims 4 and now you can make trans people in it too, which is really cool.

I like to watch "Hot Knife vs" vids. Forensic Files, Sex Sent Me to the ER, and Dr K's exotic animal er are good mindless reality tv shows you can find on YouTube too.

That was probably too long, but it's been building up since April.

Honestly this year has not only flown by but has been one of the worst in recent memory (election, so many deaths, pulse shooting, etc) but one of the highlights is you guys!
