This is something I did digitally just over a year ago.

IMPROVEMENT *sparkles everywhere*

HEY WHO WANTS A KINDA TUTORIAL

^ after the sketch (forgot to screenshot that part, whoops) do the line art.
In my opinion line art is the most difficult part, so once I finally finish that it's home free.

^ add the base colors.
It's really pretty BASEic

^ add color to the line art (I use a clipping layer for this.)

^ and now, shading.
I honestly don't know much about shading, most of the time I guess and go off of what looks okay.

^ add overlaying gradients, with various effects onto the layer with the base colors.
(Don't get too carried away, and don't be too boring with these.)
(I probably messed with all the effects on this drawing for an hour, and I could still be changing them.)

Hopefully I'll have time to post the contest results tomorrow! I've been in a bit of a time crunch for school, but everything I'm working on (and not finishing) is due tomorrow so that problem is going to solve itself.

Also I'm totally not procrastinating.
