This was brought up by Plush-ie just a while ago. (Who I also got the picture above from. I'm sorry it was just really pretty.)

A lot of people on here who post art are here because they either want recognition, encouragement, or even some helpful criticism about their art. It is extremely helpful to us and we always appreciate it. Not only that, but when people say good things about your art, you draw it with more confidence and it makes you feel better.

So comments really help. The issue is that a lot of people get a lot of views and votes, but not near as many comments.

Now I get it, why comment if that person will never reply? But that doesn't mean they don't see what you said.

This especially goes for artists who don't have many people who see their stuff. It's nice to know that people see your art, but it can only be encouraging for so long. It can mean the world to leave an occasional compliment or just comment and talk to the person.

I know when I posted my first art book that I was terrified to post stuff. In fact I usually still am. Personally I'm not a big fan of anything I draw, save for a few things, which is why it's always nice to have someone say something nice. It makes me feel like I can actually do something.

Again, that doesn't mean constantly telling someone that their art is great and perfect and amazing is the right thing to do. Sometimes it's nice to just leave a comment. Maybe not even necessarily directed straight at the art, just something to make that person smile.

I'm not trying to ramble, I just feel like this is very important. Not specifically to me, but to everyone.

So if you like art and like making someone feel good about what they're doing, go find an artist, maybe one you know already, and tell them how great they are. Because even if that person doesn't like their art, they can constantly improve and get better.

Say something about it yourself if you want to help spread the word. You don't have to but it would be incredibly appreciated.
