Art tips?
I don't know. I'll try because why not. Tell me what you think or comment your own advice.
1) If you're doing digital art, don't shade with black, and don't use the airbrush tool too much. Instead use a more vibrant, slightly darker, or off hue version of the color already there.
2) draw quick lines. If you draw a line too slowly, your hand has more time to move in the wrong direction. Don't rush the lines, but make sure they aren't strict and look natural.
3) It won't be perfect. As much as you try and as much time as you put into it, chances are you'll think something is wrong with it. (At least, if you're like me) Don't worry too much. Not everything is perfect, you can try to fix it, but keep in mind that you'll create more things it isn't the end of the world.
4) Listen to what people say. And I mean the constructive criticism and the complements, not the jerks who say you're horrible.
5) If you do mess something up, and you can't fix it, there are ways to make it look correct. Change the lines up a bit, add something into the picture, make a pattern out of it, there are loads of ways to fix stuff like that.
6) Things that look natural usually aren't bright, obstructive colors. Some creatures are, and OCs can definitely be, but most things aren't. Tone down how bright the colors are.
7) Goof off every now and then and purposely draw something really bad. It might turn out good, give you a new idea, or remind you that at least you don't draw that bad.
8) Use references. If you don't understand anatomy the best or want to draw something new, use a reference. In fact, use a few references!
9) Practice. The more you draw, the better you get! (I can redraw something after I draw it the first time, but I actually don't improve that quickly.)
10) Don't be scared to try new things. Sometimes using a new art style or coloring a different way is just what you need.
Welp I'm too lazy to list anything else.
