Tears

Immortal stood in the lab, here was her sanctuary, it was large and desolate. She was the only occupant in the room, the large screen on the wall accompanied her, providing light to the already excessively bright room, this didn't strain her eyes though. She saw very clearly, the purple icy irises darted to one of the two doors into the room. Someone else had entered.

A tall and beige robot that stood on a single wheel came in, it had two panels on the rectangle chest, wore a blue bowtie and an antenna hanging from his box-like head. A microphone came from the side of his head, to amplify his voice for a large audience. That wasn't necessary, she was the only other one here for miles.

"Hello, Helios." She turned around, the light shifting and reflecting off of her pale skin. The scar she had earned a millennium ago still remained, absorbing little light and reflecting a crystallized dark blood.

"Immortal, there is a problem." He didn't acknowledge her previous statement, like usual.

"Then bring me to it." He nodded and wheeled off, she followed, her obsidian boots clicking against the sterile floor and echoing through the empty halls. It seemed that they were the only ones on board the barren ship, that was far from the truth.

She was brought into a musty room, the smell of oil lingered in the air. It was dim, nearly pitch black save for the light provided by the open door. Dust particles glided through the air, so heavy it'd choke an average human, but she was not human. She lacked many things that she once had that could make her human. One thing was to not was, emotions and fear.

She looked back at Helios, who had a worried expression drawn on his face, she urged him to close the door. Just as he was about to another voice cut it off.

"That won't be necessary, leave it open." The figure looked at Helios who remained in the doorway. "You may leave now." Helios turned and left.

"What is the issue?" She asked, standing in the light, her shadow being cast for what seemed an eternity.

"I'm malfunctioning again."

This AI had been quiet the last few days, so this did nothing to shock her. Instead, she turned and left, telling him he was leaving to get his brother.

She was the only one of flesh and blood on this large and complex segment of the colossal ship. Besides one other, who she found a bit different to yet the same as her, he wasn't quite 'living' as others would say. For in truth, he was an AI too.

"Percy, it's your brother." She called out, her voice echoing in the small lab, a kid walked up.

"Expected it, I wish he'd talk to me more after..." He trailed off, the blue eyes casting a reflective look.

"I think he just needs time, maybe he did this to finally get some time with you." The kid's face lit up a bit, she embraced him, it wasn't common for her to do this. But today, it felt like the both of them needed it. "Come on."

He took her hand as she led him down the corridor, both of their footsteps could be heard throughout the entire halls. Sending early warning to whoever happened to be in the halls, which seemed unlikely. But there are infinite amounts of space here, shouldn't that mean others?

She stopped at the door, he let go of her hand as he dashed into the room to meet his brother. Soon he met an embrace, cold, metal arms, held him closely and tightly. He returned it, letting tears stream down his cheeks. A clawed hand began stroking the soft hair, like it once did so long ago.

"I'm so sorry..."

She stared at the scene, nobody knew the story behind it but her and the two. Others couldn't feel the emotion, anyone else had no idea what true story was behind it.

She felt something drop, a small patter was heard. She looked down, a small puddle of water, only a few centimeters in circumference. She looked around, nothing was leaking, she heard it again. She looked down, she didn't look around, but noticed as she stayed more formed.

Falling from her face, were tears, for once in her entire lifetime she finally found tears. Something she had longed for too long.

She took a step, then another, suddenly she started running down that hall. Hands covered her face as the tears streamed through the fingers, making small rivers on them. She threw herself into the sanctuary, the lights were dimmed. Her sparkling purple eyes were reflected off of the droplets and shone like tiny crystals. She hit her eyes, letting them fall.

The bright room from before wasn't actually her sanctuary, but this one was, the difference was that it was dark. She stood and walked to the large window and saw what the light prevented her from seeing, the stars.

Long ago, me and my family would look at the stars and search for our names. I never did find mine, yet, I hope.

The name would only show one a year, every night was dedicated to one name. She spotted one, one she though she'd never see, her own.

Perhaps, I was just looking in the wrong place.

Her true name was written in the stars, as if it was just for her, in only the most dazzling of the diamonds. A C there, an L over here, then a U far over. The slit pupils widened, for this very second, she felt what she had been deprived of for so long.

Life.

"May my tears wash away the sands of time from my eyes, so that I can see what beautiful masterpiece my life has become."

And that masterpiece, was stretched over thousands of years and worlds, but was indeed, marvelous.

And she wouldn't change a thing.
