09 Cursed Partnerships & Closet Secrets [E]
Author's Pov
The much-awaited day, or as the students dramatically called it—Trip Day—arrived faster than anyone anticipated. The school gates of Autumn High buzzed with chaotic energy as students from both the Sapphire and Teddy Bear clubs loitered around with their duffel bags, backpacks, and way too much unnecessary enthusiasm. Their teachers? Already exhausted before the trip had even begun. Honestly, who in their right mind would volunteer to spend an entire week chaperoning their emotionally unstable, overly dramatic, borderline feral students?
Exactly. No one. But here they were—bags packed, patience wearing thinner by the second.
"I suppose we should get started with our dares now," Elijah whispered as he gathered the group discreetly. The last thing they wanted was for the teachers to find out about the not-so-innocent game they planned to continue throughout the trip.
Mona, ever the dramatic centerpiece, pulled out her dare bottle and gave it a quick spin on the ground. It twirled a few times before stopping—its tip pointing right at the boys.
Their turn to dare the girls.
A silent victory celebration erupted among the boys—fist bumps, smug grins, and all. The girls, meanwhile, stood unimpressed, arms crossed, waiting for the dumb dare to drop so they could get it over with.
"We dare you girls to wear shorts," Shane announced with an all-too-proud grin, clearly thinking he had just changed the course of history.
"That is not happening," Nina snapped instantly, her tone razor-sharp and ready for blood.
"That's so lame—" Jungkook started, but immediately paused when he caught Nina's glare. "Oh no, actually... this is perfect," he amended, the corner of his mouth curling up in wicked satisfaction.
Of course, he wasn't interested in fashion choices. He just wanted the satisfaction of watching Nina do something she hated. That was all the entertainment he needed.
The consequence for refusing? A win handed directly to the boys in the next inter-school sports tournament—a competition so intense it practically turned their town, Mount Spring, into a mini Olympic village.
"Come on, Nina, we can't lose," Mona whispered urgently.
But that's so mindless," Nina grumbled, glaring at the pea-brained masterminds behind this nonsense.
"I promise to make them walk in their boxers," Mona declared with dead seriousness. She closed her eyes and nodded like she had just taken a sacred vow. That alone was the only thing that made Nina even consider putting on those cursed shorts.
And so she did.
Just as the girls stepped out, Principal Kim passed by, heading to Principal Lee's office, and casually dropped, "Oh my gosh, girls—looking sexy!" as if that were an appropriate comment in any school setting ever.
When they reached the bus, the boys greeted them with a symphony of whistles, catcalls, and wildly inappropriate comments.
That's when the girls made a silent oath: These perverted little gremlins will not sleep in peace for the rest of this trip.
"Elijah, I swear to god, say one more thing and I will yeet you into traffic," Nina snapped as he shouted, "You look great!" from the crowd.
As they boarded the bus, each student was grouped into teams—just like Nina and Jungkook. Mona and Taehyung. Emily and Elijah. The list went on. The logic? Apparently, things would get done faster if everyone was paired up.
Spoiler: It wouldn't.
Members from both the Sapphire and Teddy Bear clubs were packed into the same bus, which was basically just a moving cage of teenage hormones, questionable decisions, and very tired teachers.
Of course, fate—or some twisted bus seating chart—had placed Jungkook and Nina in the same row. Again.
"I want the window seat," he declared, standing tall over her like a self-appointed monarch.
"I don't care what you want," Nina replied sweetly, flipping her hair and claiming her seat with dramatic flair. First, he made her wear shorts. Now, he wanted her window seat? The audacity.
"We're switching halfway," he grumbled, squeezing into the seat beside her. His broad shoulders practically shoved her into the wall.
"We are not," she sang back, delighting in his visible irritation.
"I fucking told you we are," he growled, snatching her wrist mid-air while she attempted to clip her hair.
Instead of scalping him like she fantasized about, she simply slapped his cheek with her free hand. "Such a nuisance," she muttered before jamming her headphones in with surgical precision, effectively muting his entire existence.
They were halfway to the resort when Mona suddenly bounced in her seat, directly in front of Nina's.
"Isn't it our turn to give a dare?" she exclaimed like she'd just discovered the meaning of life.
Nina stood up with suspicious enthusiasm, causing Jungkook to flinch beside her. He stared at her warily, like she might suddenly throw him out the window.
She leaned over and whispered something to Mona, who nodded within seconds like she'd just been handed the golden ticket.
"So we dare our partners to buy us breakfast!" Mona announced, clapping like this was the best idea ever.
The boys laughed it off—until the bus actually stopped at a breakfast joint.
"Come on, honey," Nina smirked, stretching as she stepped off the bus. "Time to buy me food."
"I wish I could poison it," Jungkook muttered, just loud enough for her to hear.
"What was that?" she grinned, looking dangerously sweet.
At the counter, Jungkook sighed. "What do you want?"
Nina lit up like it was Christmas morning. "Oh. My. God. They have waffles. I want the double chocolate ones, hot coffee—large—and... churros. With two packs of chocolate pudding."
The server scribbled rapidly as Jungkook stared at her like she had ordered the entire menu.
"Why don't you buy the whole café?" he snapped, fishing out his wallet.
"Geez, someone's moody," she replied. "Make it a double espresso for him," she told the server with a faux-concerned smile before walking off, leaving him to pay like the grumpy sugar daddy he never asked to be.
Once breakfast was over—and the boys' wallets were spiritually broken—they returned to the bus.
Only to find Jungkook sprawled out... in her seat.
"Get off. That's my spot," Nina groaned, glaring at him.
"I don't see your name on it," he replied with a smug smile, gesturing dramatically to the empty seat.
"If you don't move, I'll sit on you," she warned.
He didn't move.
So she did.
"What the fuck—?" he yelped as Nina plopped herself right onto his lap.
"You were the one who wanted me on top of you when we first met, slimeball," she said sweetly, arms crossed like a bratty princess. "You want me gone? Give me my seat."
He shoved her off with a muttered curse before begrudgingly sliding back to his side. Truthfully, he didn't mind her being on his lap—until she started squirming. That was dangerous territory he wasn't ready to navigate in a bus full of classmates.
"Stupid clown."
"Pervert."
"Shut up. You're fucking annoying."
"So are you."
After four hours of side-eyes, and suppressed violence, the bus finally screeched to a stop in front of their destination—a three-star resort in the middle of nowhere. Resort staff stood at the entrance, ready to help with their luggage.
Each team was handed their keys.
"Lunch will be sent to your rooms. Don't come downstairs unless we call you," a teacher barked before vanishing inside like she was already regretting this trip.
As everyone headed toward the elevator, Taehyung suddenly stopped them—excluding the teachers, of course.
"It's our turn now," he announced, standing dead-center in the hallway like he was about to deliver an Oscar-winning speech. "And I have the perfect dare..."
One of the girls asked excitedly, "What is it?" Nina just rolled her eyes. Enthusiastic girls gave her hives.
The boys leaned in, skeptical as always. They rarely trusted Taehyung with any dare-related responsibility.
But this time... they were very impressed.
"We dare you to wear something your partner picks from your bag for tonight's dinner party," he said with a grin that practically screamed "chaos incoming."
Of course he only suggested that because of his questionable obsession with Mona. But what about the rest of them?
"You people are uncommonly nasty," Nina muttered, brushing past them into the elevator. She could already see where this was going, and she hated it. But if she refused, they'd drag her into the "team rivalry" lecture again. So she kept walking.
And thinking.
Her partner—the demon himself—was going to choose her outfit.
Their shared room was surprisingly cozy. Two separate beds, crisp folded blankets and towels, a large wall mirror, a small balcony, a modern closet beside the washroom—and a dreamcatcher swaying gently in the hallway like it might actually need to protect her from him.
A few minutes later, Jungkook entered, dropped onto his bed, and groaned. "That was one hell of a ride with a clown."
"Shut your donkey mouth before I slam your face with that vase," Nina snapped while dragging her luggage in.
He watched her for a beat—then remembered: he was in charge of picking her outfit tonight.
08.30 PM
Nina stood in the corridor with Elijah, Emily, and a few others, gossiping and mentally preparing herself for whatever horror Jungkook had picked for her. Mona suddenly stomped toward them, visibly fuming.
"Taehyung is insane," she announced.
Apparently, he had the nerve to pick out a bra and hotpants. When she refused, he downgraded to a satin twilight robe.
She almost killed him.
"That man's wild," Jungkook muttered, surprisingly admiring.
"Well, that asshole better calm the fuck down before I cut his dick off," Mona ranted, rubbing her temples.
"It's just a few hours," Harry said, trying to be diplomatic.
"That doesn't give you a free pass to dress someone like a stripper," Nina shot back.
"Then why do you have a lingerie set, five bikinis, and a pair of thongs?" Jungkook asked, brows furrowed in innocent confusion.
Silence.
Mona and Nina gasped in horror.
And the guys? Mentally combusted.
"Wait—did you go through my suitcase?" Nina shrieked.
