46) CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S YOU

• • •

Serena skipped happily down the hallway of Sebastian and Elizabeth's shared condominium, which, of course, she would now be sharing with them as well. She was so happy to finally be with her brother, not to mention the rest of her marvelous friends, no pun intended. Not only that, but Joe and Anthony had a role for her in the MCU, and that was something she had been hoping for since Iron Man made his way onto the big screen. She had always been a bit jealous of Sebastian for landing the role of Bucky back in 2010, but at the same time she had been incredibly happy for him, and now the tables had turned. Sebastian was ecstatic that he was getting the chance to work alongside his sister on the big screen. It was something he had been hoping for since the two had began acting.

"Why don't you guys just stay in your on-set trailers?" Serena questioned her brother and the woman she predicted would be her future sister-in-law. Sebastian and Elizabeth had always tried to hide their feelings for each other, but as of the last few months, it had been nearly impossible for them to do so. Sharing a condo together didn't make things any less suspicious either.

Sebastian stopped and pulled out a keycard, waving it over the sensor on one of the many doors that lined the hallway. "Maybe because despite just how comfortable the trailers are, I prefer sleeping on a decent-sized mattress," he answered her and pushed the door open.

Elizabeth and Serena followed Sebastian into the room, and Serena watched as Sebastian disappeared down the hallway with her bags. She looked up at Elizabeth, a wide smile pulling onto her face as she did so.

"I'm so happy to see you, Lizzie," Serena chimed happily and pulled the blonde into a hug.

Elizabeth chuckled and hugged her back, squeezing her small form tightly in her arms. It had been a little bit over a year since she had last seen the youngest Stan sibling, so it was no surprise that she was happy about her presence. "I'm happy to see you, too, Rena. I've missed you so much."

"Too bad she's missed me more."

The two girls turned to see Sebastian making his way back into the loft, a smug smile on his face. Serena shook her head and pulled away from Elizabeth.

"That's debatable," Serena remarked. "It hasn't been that long since I've last seen you."

Sebastian smiled and ruffled her hair. "That shouldn't change anything, my dear."

"You're holding her up, Sebastian," Elizabeth warned the blue-eyed man.

"Oh, yeah," he muttered.

Serena looked between the two of them with raised brows. She was unsure of what the two were talking about. "What's going on?"

"Joe and Anthony want to meet with you to discuss your role in the film," Sebastian informed her. "They wanted you on set at...twenty minutes ago."

"Sebastian!" Serena exclaimed. "Why didn't you tell me? Better yet, how did you forget?"

"I apologize if I was caught up in seeing my sister," Sebastian scoffed and started pushing Serena towards the door.

"What are you doing?" Serena grumbled. "I don't know where the set is."

"But Lizzie does," Sebastian told her. "She has to go in for shooting, so she'll take you there."

Elizabeth only shook her head at Sebastian and grabbed Serena's hand in her own. "I'll take it from here, Seb."

Sebastian smiled and kissed her on the cheek before kissing Serena on top of the head. "You two be safe now."

"Will do, Bubs," Serena called out to him as she headed out of the room.

Elizabeth followed after Serena, and together the two of them headed to set. Serena took the time to gaze around at her surroundings as the two made their way across town. The last time she had been in Atlanta, she had been filming The Originals, and although she missed the show dearly, she was happy to know that now she was moving onto the big screen. She had never been cast in a blockbuster film before, especially not without auditioning, so this was a huge step for her career. She couldn't thank Joe and Anthony enough for thinking of her.

About ten minutes had passed until their Uber driver came to a stop. Serena and Elizabeth thanked the man before getting out of the car, and the moment Serena met eyes with the building in front of her, she was shocked to learn it was the same building she had spent the last three years of her life filming for The Originals. She immediately felt at home, and a smile lit up her face.

"Look familiar?" Elizabeth laughed as she took in Serena's facial expression.

Serena glanced over at her with a smile. "A little bit too familiar, if we're being honest here."

"Joe and Anthony will be inside," Elizabeth informed her. "Turn to the left and it'll be the third door on your right. I'll be in my trailer getting ready to film, okay?"

Serena only nodded and took off into the building. She followed Lizzie's instructions exactly, and when she reached the door she presumed Joe and Anthony to be hiding behind, she raised her hand and knocked on it. Shuffling could be heard behind the door, and in seconds it was being pulled open. Serena smiled the moment she met eyes with the man she knew to be Anthony Russo. Anthony smiled down at her once he recognized her and opened the door for her to come in.

"It's good to see you again, Serena," Anthony greeted her.

"Likewise, Anthony," Serena responded and stepped into the room. She then noticed Anthony's brother, Joe, and another man she recognized as Kevin Fiege. A welcoming smile appeared on her face and she moved to sit down at the table.

"It's good to see you, Serena," Joe said to her.

"It's good to see you, too, Joe," Serena replied and looked to Kevin. "It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Fiege."

Kevin laughed and shook his head. "Please, call me Kevin, Serena."

"Alright, Kevin."

"Now, I know Sebastian told you why we wanted you down here, did he not?" Kevin questioned her.

Serena shrugged and sat up in her seat. "He said that you had a role for me, though he said that you wouldn't specify exactly what that role was."

"Right," Anthony said. "That's why you're here now."

"We're here to explain to you what your role in the MCU is," Joe added.

"May I ask just how big this role is?" Serena asked.

Kevin grinned and clasped his hands together on the table. "It's big enough that we're going to need you for the next several years."

"Seriously?" Serena's eyes were wide. She hadn't been expecting his answer at all. If anything, she had only been expecting a background role, but Kevin's words were indicating that the role they had chosen for her was much more than that.

"Yes, ma'am," Joe confirmed. "After we've explained everything to you, we'll have you sign a multi-movie deal with us, and then you'll be Marvel's for the next few years."

Serena was ecstatic. She hadn't been expecting this at all. "Okay, okay, great, I'm ready. Just tell me, throw it at me."

Anthony laughed at her and leaned forward. "You're familiar with Spider-Man, aren't you?"

Serena only nodded, readying her mind for the information she was sure she would need to take the time to process.

"Are you familiar with Spider-Gwen?"

Serena nearly choked on the air in her lungs. "Um, yes, sir, I am very familiar with Spider-Gwen."

"We want you to portray her," Kevin delivered the news she had been waiting for.

"Oh my god," Serena muttered in disbelief. From what she knew, Spider-Gwen was an iconic character, and the thought of portraying such an iconic character just made her feel so good inside. It made her feel as if she could do anything. There was only one problem with the role, a problem that despite its irrelevancy, Serena couldn't get it out of her head. "Wait, doesn't Gwen have blonde hair?"

"Who says she has to have blonde hair?" Anthony laughed at the young brunette.

"Fair point," Serena replied. "What made you want to cast me? I never even auditioned."

"Your acting is nothing short of impeccable, and Stan Lee was originally the one who mentioned casting you in the first place," Joe told the young girl.

"Let's not forget your chemistry with Tom," Anthony smirked as he flipped through the pages of the contract he would have her sign.

Serena could feel her cheeks heating up at the mere mention of Tom. "Yeah, the two of us are good friends."

"For now," Anthony laughed to himself. "Here."

Anthony slid the contract over to Serena, along with an ink pen. She pursed her lips and looked down at it, scanning her eyes over the copious amount of words typed onto the page. It was all so surreal to her.

"So, I cannot tell anyone which character I am portraying, is that right?" Serena scribbled her signature and her initials over the appropriate areas before looking up at the three men in front of her.

"Right," Joe confirmed and handed her a script. "You will mostly be working with Robert, Tom, Jacob, and Zendaya, so the four of them will know, as well as a few extras, but until the others have filmed a scene with you, they won't know anything. I would try to remain as secretive as possible. Not even Sebastian can know."

"Yeah," Kevin added. "The fans have been asking for Spider-Gwen for so long now, and now that we've finally decided to give that to them, I want them to be surprised."

"Understandable." Serena absentmindedly began flipping through the script.

"Take the script home, read over it, and be ready to film in three days," Anthony told her.

Serena closed the script and smiled up at the men. "Thank you guys so much for this opportunity. I promise I won't let you down."

"We know you won't, kid," Kevin said with a grin on his face.

Serena's smile only grew and she stood up from her seat, bidding a goodbye to the three men before making her way out of the room. She began reading her script as she strolled down the seemingly endless hallways, only she was so wrapped up in the story she wasn't aware what had happened when she ran into someone. The script fell from her hand, and the brunette fell to the ground. She let out a grunt and pushed her hair out of her face, while the person she had run into was drowning in a heap of guilty above her.

"Oh my gosh," the accented voice sounded, catching Serena's attention almost immediately. "I am so sorry, love, I wasn't watching where I was going."

Serena looked up at the boy who was now gathering her belongings for her, and a smile pulled onto her face the moment she recognized him as Tom. "Tom?" she spoke happily. She had been waiting for them to meet for so long.

Tom stopped what he was doing at the sound of her voice and he looked down, his brown eyes brightening tremendously. He smiled widely, but before he had the chance to greet her, Serena jumped from the floor, practically tackling him with a hug. She squeezed him as tightly as she could, an overwhelming amount of happiness flowing through her body now that she was in his presence. He had been there for her through all the pain she had been dealing with the last couple of months, and she would forever be grateful to him for that, which was part of the reason she was so happy to see him.

"I can't believe it's you," she squealed excitedly.

Tom chuckled and hugged her back. "I can't believe it's you either. What are you doing here on set?"

Serena smirked and pulled away from him, leaning down to pick her script off of the floor. "Well, since you'll be one of the four to know anyway, I guess it can't hurt to inform you of the reason a little bit earlier than necessary."

"Inform me of what?" Tom asked with raised brows.

"I'm the Gwen Stacy to your Peter Parker," she snickered.

Tom's eyes widened and he pulled her into another hug, spinning her around before sitting her back down on the floor. Serena couldn't help but laugh at his excitement.

"I'm so excited for this," Tom exclaimed happily. "I heard Fiege and Anthony talking about it, but I wasn't sure who they were casting. I'm so happy it's you. Not only do you deserve the role, but this means I get to work with my favorite girl."

Serena's smile seemed to grow at the sound of his words; he was just as sweet in person as he was over the phone. "And I get to work with my favorite web slinger."

Tom smiled and ruffled her hair. "I have to go get ready for filming, though, alright? I'll text you later and maybe we can do something."

"Sounds good," Serena replied.

"Goodbye, Serena."

"Goodbye, Tom."

Tom smiled at her one last time before taking off down the hallway. Serena only watched him disappear, and she couldn't help the smile on her face as she did so. For the first time in a while she was genuinely happy, and not only did that have to do with the new job she was presented with, but she was sure it had something to do with a certain brown-eyed web slinger. Time would only tell.
