Chapter 1
"Max"
"Last one to my house is a loser!" I said as I peddled my fastest.
"Isn't that obvious?"
"Why don't you think of a better name for a loser, like 'Ash'?" I joked.
"Oh, you're losing." Ash shot back.
"Because I am going to race both of you." Kay said, speeding ahead of us.
"No chance." Pavani said tying with all of us.
Tired, I go up to the doorstep of my house and pull out my key to open the door. As I opened the door, a huge bucket of water fell on me. I bet my elder sister did this.
"Alex!" I shout. My sister is in college but sometimes, her pranks are like a five year old. We play pranks on each other all the time. She has long, brown hair, tied up in a ponytail, green eyes and a tiny scar on her lip.
Alex comes down from her room, running. She starts laughing as soon as she sees me as if I am some kind of a laughing gas. "I just wanted to experiment Gravity." She says. "I'll show you gravity." I say as I drop my bag on the floor and throw a cushion from the couch on her. She ducks and starts laughing again.
"Alex, Max!" our parents call. I put my bag on the couch and we run to their room. "Yes?" I say. "Ash's, Pavani's, Kay's parents and we will be going to Africa for five days. So we are leaving their kids and you two in our house." My mother says. "Max, please get dried up before they come." My father adds. I nod and go to the bathroom.
*********
'Ding dong!' Our bell rang. It must be Ash. "I'll get it!" I say and rush downstairs to open the door and I see Ash with his bag. "Hey!" He says. "Hi! Come in." I say. As soon as they came in, I saw Kay's black BMW in front of Pavani's silver Lexus. I ran out to meet them and call them in.
"We shall be going now. Remember to not open the door to any stranger and -" my mother starts saying, "Answer the phone if you call us and take care of ourselves." We recited, completing her sentence.
My sister looks at all of us and says, "If you need me, I'll be in the basement, practicing." She actually meant that she is going to call her band members, and blast off the volume of their 'music' above the maximun, if that is possible. My sister is the lead guitarist in her band, "Fire". There are five people in it, probably from her college. They have two drummers, two guitarists and a lead singer. Justin, Al, Jessy, Alex and James. And every one comes to our house for the practice. She pulls out her phone and calls four people. 'Ding Dong!' our bell rang. They came so fast, I thought they were waiting outside for her a so maybe they live very near to our house. My sister goes to open the door while my friends and I go up to my room.
As soon as I step into my room, my dog, Rocky jumps on me. "Hey, Rocky!" I say, patting its head. My dog barks and steps off me. "Hello Rocky!" My friends say and crowd around him for some time. My room has a bed on the right side, my table opposite to it and a T.V in between the bed and my table behind a beanbag.

^Alex^
"Hi!" I say as I open the door to Justin, Al, Jessy and James. "Hey!" They say, together and I lead them to the basement. "Alex, this is going to be our first live performance." James says.
"Really? When?" I say, excitedly. We usually record ourselves playing music and post it on the internet. I have never performed live on stage except for my school's talent shows.
"It's in another five days." James says.
"Then let's start practicing now." I say. I pick up my electric guitar. It is black with an orange strap. Justin and Al go to their drums; Jessy picks up her blue electric guitar and James switches on our guitars and his mike. After about half an hour of practice, we started doing real, good songs. "Fireworks!" I said. This song is a bit old but we were famous for doing the cover of this song on YouTube. (A/N: Song to the right) It's also one of my favorite songs. For this song, I was the lead singer, Justin took my guitar and the rest stayed in their places. I gave the count and we all started with a lot of enthusiasm. I got so lost in the music that I didn't even notice how loud I was. As we got to the chorus, I walked over to the amplifier and increased the volume and gestured Justin and Jessy to join me. We ended the song with a blast. I think this our best practice ever.
"That went great!" James said and there was a moment of agreement.
After a few minutes of break, we played more songs related to fire just to boost up the band spirit. I am very excited to perform live in five days. "Which songs are we planning to perform on stage?" Al asks, as if reading my mind. We want our first song to be a big hit.
