OUAONS - Prologue
I was all alone.
My friend had disappeared a long time ago. I was tired, slightly tipsy and maybe about to pass out. I chugged down the rest of my drink; the alcohol burning down my throat, and walked towards the bathroom, my feet yelling at me to stop.
I entered the small bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My dark hair was a mess falling out of my once perfect ponytail and I let it go loose. My make up wasn't so bad but I reapplied lip-gloss.
I was feeling sad and lonely.
To be honest, parties are not really my thing, neither Katherine's, my friend, but some guy invited us to a party and here we are. The thing is, I have never even met the party's host before and still don't.
Someone knocked on the door, and I went out to find Kat and leave. My bed awaits.
I went downstairs and start looking everywhere for Kat. A drunk blonde girl was dancing on top of the kitchen counter, but no Katherine.
There were tons of kids swimming in the pool in their underwear, but no Katherine.
A fat guy was trying to keg stand being helped by others, but no Katherine.
I sat in the lounger, wrapped my arms around my body, trying to shield myself from the chilly wind, and tried to scan the crowd to find my long-lost friend.
I called her a few times but no answer.
My eyes landed on the blonde that was dancing in the kitchen not even a minute ago who was talking to a very handsome boy. They were laughing at something he said and seemed close to each other. Maybe she's his girlfriend.
Suddenly, his eyes landed on me and I looked away as fast as I could, focusing on my shoes. Being the dumbass I am, I looked up again after a while, but he was still looking at me and I redirected my attention to the pool and the people in it. Where the fuck is Kat?
I didn't dare look up again, concentrating on my phone and texting her, knowing it wasn't worth it calling. When she sees it, she sees it, but it better be sooner rather than later.
I grabbed another drink and walked through the mass in front of me. Many drunk couples were moving upstairs. I didn't think she would be there, but I couldn't find her downstairs with the others. Maybe she felt sick and was puking her guts out in the bathroom.
I checked every single bathroom upstairs, but I couldn't find her. I walked into the first empty bedroom I could find and closed the door behind me, needing quiet to think.
I fetched my phone again, and one text was on the screen. I'm at the pool! This is awesome. Unbelievable!
The door opened at once and I got on my feet, looking at the guy right in front of me. My breath was caught in my throat. Right in front of me was a boy much taller than me, with blue-greenish eyes and brown hair falling to his eyes, a damn hot guy.
"What are you doing here?" he asked. "This is Harry's bedroom."
"Is it?" I stepped back. "Oh, I didn't know... I was going away anyway."
His arm blocked my way. "Have we met before?"
I shook my head. "I don't think so. " Surely I would recall someone like him.
He frowned, and then his arm dropped. "I'm Mathew," he introduced himself.
And if I knew better back, then I would've ignored him and got out, if I knew better back then I would've never talked to him, if I knew better back then I would've never had slept with him and if I knew better back, then I would've never even come to that party.
"I'm Evie."
