Chapter 5

(Sarah's POV)

I was finishing the decorating in the living room when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it and saw Carly and her family standing there.

"Hey!" She smiled as she walked inside and set Brianna down on the floor.

"Hey!" I said as I grinned and hugged Carly before hugging Brianna.

"Where's the birthday boy?" She asked as Nadir and Reza walked in behind her.

"Erik agreed to take him on his haunting today so I could decorate and cook." I said as I smiled at Nadir and Reza.

"What?" She asked as she titled her head. She handed Brianna the present and told her to go into the living room with the rest of her family.

"Erik took Mike haunting with him." I repeated. "Mike's loving the idea of being a junior ghost!"

She looked at me, "Sarah, do you feel ill?"

"No, I feel fine." I said as I sat down on the couch and gestured for her to sit. "Why do you ask?"

She sat down beside me and sighed. "Sarah, you said yourself that Erik will never come back."

"I was wrong! He came back!" I said happily. "And, he loves Mike! He wants his son."

Carly shook her head. "Where is Mike really? You know he could get hurt if he's left alone."

"He's with Erik!" I stated firmly. "He's not alone. Erik would never let any harm come to him."

She sighed. "Sarah, Erik isn't here!"

"He is!" I repeated a bit louder as I stood up and grabbed her hand. "Come with me."

She followed me. "Where are we going?"

"Mike's room." I said as I led her to it and opened the door, walking inside.

She looked around for a moment and then looked at me, "Who built this?"

"Erik." I said as I looked around the white room. "He painted it white so Mike could paint on the walls.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

I nodded fiercely. "I'm positive!"

She sighed and tried to change the subject. "I'm pregnant."

"You are?!" I exclaimed and hugged her tightly. "Wonderful! I'm so happy for you!"

Carly smiled and hugged me. "Thanks, I think it's a boy this time."

"That's even better! Reza will have a little brother." I smiled and giggled a bit. "I think I may be pregnant again too."

She looked at me. Then she looked down at my hand where my wedding ring was. "Who did you marry?" She asked. "Jabril?"

I curled my lip in disgust. "Of course not! I wouldn't marry Jabril. No, it's Erik's baby."

She sighed and nodded. "Alright, Sarah. Alright. I believe you."

I smiled brightly. "Isn't this wonderful? We'll both have children around the same time!"

She smiled softly and nodded. "Yes, it is."

I smiled and then heard a door opening. "Oh, Erik and Mike are back." I said as I turned and head towards the living room.

She followed after me. I knew she still didn't believe Erik was with me. I walked into the living room and saw Erik closing the door behind him.

Carly gasped as she saw him. I hugged Erik and then turned towards Carly. "See? I told you he was here!"

She nodded at me. "I see. I see." She said as she stared at Erik for a moment. She then looked down and noticed Mike. "Happy Birthday, Mike!" She smiled.

Mike grinned up at her and hugged her quickly. "Thank you, Aunt Carly!"

She smiled at me, "How old are you today?"

"Three!" He said proudly as he held up three fingers.

"Wow!" Carly said happily.

He grinned happily and asked, "Where is Banana and Reza?"

She thought for a moment and then looked over at Nadir. "They went to your room, Mike. They're waiting for you." He told him. Mike grinned and ran off to his room.

Carly smiled and watched him go. She then sat down beside Nadir. "So, Erik. What have you been teaching Mike?"

"Architecture and music." Erik replied as we sat down together on the couch.

She nodded. "I also heard about you giving him haunting lessons."

Erik nodded. "Yep, I am. He enjoys it thoroughly."

She looked over at me, "Have you told him yet?" She asked softly.

I shook my head. "No, I haven't."

She nodded, "I hope he takes it well."

"So do I." Erik looked at me oddly and I shook my head, gesturing I would tell him later.

Carly smiled softly and then we smelled something on the verge of burning. "What's that smell?"

My eyes widened and I shot up. "The cake!" I said as I ran to the kitchen.

She gasped and quickly followed me. "What were you making?"

I grabbed some oven mitts and opened the oven, removing the cake. "An ordinary chocolate cake. Nothing fancy."

"I love your chocolate cake!" She said as she watched me and then looked down at the cake. "It looks like you caught it just in time."

I nodded and turned off the oven. "Yep, thank you for reminding me."

"You're welcome." She smiled. I grinned and began to work on the frosting.

She watched me and then said, "Have you seen Jabril lately? I usually see him in town every now and then, but I haven't in a while."

"No, I haven't. He proposed and I rejected him. I haven't seen him since." I said.

She nodded. "I wonder what happened to him."

"I don't really care anymore." She whispered.

"He wasn't a bad guy, Sarah." I said.

"I know. I just would prefer him not to be around. Erik hates him." I said.

She nodded again. "What if something bad happened to him?"

"I'm sure he's fine." I said as I finished making the frosting and set it aside to wait for the cake to finish cooling.

She nodded, "Yeah, he probably is." I smiled and sat down at the kitchen table.

She sat down across from me. "I got Mike some different color paints for his room."

"He'll love that!" I said.

She smiled. "Good. I was hoping he would."

"I got him some books and Erik is giving him a violin of his own." I said.

"That's perfect!" She smiled. "I just know he'll love them."

"I'm sure he will too." I said with a smile.

She smiled again and looked over at the cake, "It looks great."

"Thanks." I said as I stood up to see if it was cooled.

"Welcome." She said as she watched me. I tested the cake and then began frosting it.

She watched me, "Do you want me to get the children?"

I nodded. "Please, that would be a big help."

"I'll be back." She said as she stood and walked down to Mike's room.

I nodded and finished frosting. She quickly brought the children, as well as the men into the kitchen. I added the candles and set the cake in front of Mike's seat.

Mike's eyes widened. "Is that for me, Mommy?"

I nodded and smiled. "That it is, birthday boy."

He smiled and watched Erik light the three candles.

I smiled and then gestured for us all to sing Happy Birthday. We all began to sing. We finished and then I told him to blow the candles out.

He closed his eyes and blew out the candles, making a wish. We all clapped and then I began cutting the cake.

The children quickly dug into their piece and Carly took a bite of hers. "It's great, Sarah."

I smiled. "Thank you." I said as I began eating my piece.

"Welcome." She said and she continued to eat. I finished my piece and slipped away to fetch his presents.

Carly soon finished her piece and watched me return with the presents. I returned with all the presents and arranged them on the table.

Mike looked up from his cake, his mouth covered in icing. "Presents!" He smiled.

"Finish your cake." I said with a smile.

He nodded and finished his cake, still with a little icing on his cheeks. Carly looked over and laughed softly, all the children were called covered in icing.

I laughed with her and fetched some damp washcloths. "Here, lets clean y'all up and then its present time." They nodded and we quickly cleaned them up.

We finished cleaning the kids up and I handed Carly's present to Mike. "Why don't you start with this one?"

Carly smiled and watched Mike open the present. He gasped and quickly thanked us.

I grinned. He obviously enjoyed it. "Here." I passed him Erik and I's gift.

Mike's face lit up as he opened his presents. "Daddy, I have a violin just like yours now."

Erik smiled and nodded. "Yes, now you do. You will practice on it, won't you?"

He nodded. "Yes! I'll practice every day!"

"Good." Erik said with a smile.

Carly smiled softly at them and then we heard Nadir say, "I think a certain little girl needs her nap." He said as he pointed over at Brianna. She was almost asleep in her chair.

I smiled and gave the sleepy girl a quick kiss on the forehead. "I agree with you, Nadir."

He smiled and picked up Brianna. Carly took Reza's hand in mine. "Have a nice birthday Mike." She smiled.

He grinned at them and hugged them. "Thank you!"

They hugged him back. "You're welcome." She smiled and waved to Sarah and Erik. "Have a nice evening."

"You as well." I said as I waved to them. They walked out of the house.

I smiled and turned to Mike who picked up his violin. "May I go practice right now, Mommy?" He asked.

"I think it would be alright." Erij looked up at me, "Don't you?"

"I don't mind." I said as I smiled. "Run along and enjoy practicing."

Erik smiled and watched him go. "Now, what is it you were going to tell me?"

"What do you mean?" I asked as I began putting away the cake.

"You know what I mean." He said as he watched me.

I sighed and gathered the dirty dishes, setting them in the sink before I turned to look at him. "I think I may be pregnant again." I said, trying not to flinch in memory of his reaction to my last pregnancy.

He gasped softly and stood up. "Really?" He whispered as he walked up to me. He then picked me up and spun me around. "Sunshine this is great!"

I smiled a little and hugged him back, unable to hold back a few giggles. "You're really happy? Truly?" I asked.

Erik nodded and laughed a little too. "Yes, I'm so happy. So so happy."

I buried my head in his chest and grinned happily. "I was a bit worried." I whispered.

"You have nothing to be afraid of." He whispered as he rested his chin on top of my head.

I nodded. "I know. I was just flinching I suppose. Thank you for wanting this baby. It means a lot to me." I said softly.

He nodded. "I want this baby and the one after that and the one after that...." He said trailing off. "And I still want that three-year-old baby that is practicing his violin."

I giggled and looked up at him. "Well, looks like you'll have them if I end up having a baby a year. And, he's not that much of a baby anymore." I said as I heard Mike practicing.

He looked down at me, "Yes, he is." He said with a smile. "He is still a baby to me."

I smiled and slipped his mask and wig, giving him a light kiss. "I suppose he'll always be our baby."

He nodded and smiled softly. "Yes, our baby."

"Even when this little one comes along?" I asked as I looked down at my flat stomach.

He nodded. "They will always be babies." He said as he looked down at my stomach.

I smiled and walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. "Same to me." I said softly. He followed me and sat down beside me.

I snuggled against him. "What do you want? A boy or girl?"

"I want a daughter." He smiled.

"That'd be good." I said. "You name her." I had named Mike.

"I'm not good with names, Sunshine." He whispered as he placed his arm around me.

"But, surely you have a name you like?" I said as I kissed his cheek. "We have eight months to think on it."

He thought for a moment. "I like the name Charlotte."

I smiled. "I like it too." I said.

He smiled. "We can call her Lottie for short." He said softly. "My dear sweet little Lottie."

My smile faded for a moment but then I grinned. "I love it!"

He noticed my expression. "What were you thinking?"

"Just, that name reminded me of something." I shrugged.

He looked at me, "Tell me." He said. "I want to know now."

"Alright." I sighed. "You remember the book I read that was the reason I knew who you were and all?"

He nodded his head. "Yes."

"Well, in that, you left Persia alone. When you came here, you build the Opera House and lived her for many years. Then, a young woman came to live here. You fell in love her but she was scared of you and fell in love with a young, handsome Vicomte. Her name was Christine but he called her Little Lotte." I said.

He nodded and then thought for a moment, "You know, there was a young girl that audition for the ballet corps this morning." He said as he looked down at me. "I believe her name was Christine."

I looked up at him. "Christine Daae?" I asked.

He nodded. "Yes, she did fairly well in her audition."

"Good for her." I said softly.

He looked down at me. "Who am I married to? Who do I have a son with? Who is carrying my daughter?" He asked softly. He placed me in his lap. "Who do I love? Who will I always be with? Who can look at me and smile? Who can love me back?"

I smiled a little and hugged him close. "Let me see...I think that lucky girl is named Sarah Teubner? Right?" I said as I ran my hand through his thin gray hair.

He smiled. "That's right." He kissed me. "I love you and only you. For forever and always."

"Forever and ever." I said as I kissed him back. "I can't help I'm a jealous woman."

He smiled at me. "I'm a jealous man."

"Then, we work well together." I said with a smirk.

He laughed a little. "Yes, we do."

I giggled and sighed happily. "I love you, Monsieur Phantom."

"I love you as well." He smiled and kissed me.

I kissed him back. "I have the odd feeling we will be the old couple that's holding hands while sitting on a park bench." I said with a giggled. "Not for a while though."

He smiled again and nodded his head. "Not for a long while." He laughed a little.

I laughed and kissed his cheek. "No, we still have many years together." I ran a hand over his face and kissed the little part of his nose.

He closed his eyes and smiled softly. "Yes, we do."

I laid my head on his shoulder and sighed. "Tell me about Coney Island." I asked, completely out of the blue.

He kissed my head and nodded. "It's completely different than Persia and France."

"I can imagine." I sighed and smiled a little. "If we go to live there, promise me a house in the country? I don't want to live in a normal house in the city."

He looked down at me, "But my theme park is in the city." He then shook his head, "No matter though, the country will be a nice change."

I sighed. "I don't mean to inconvenience you but I can't live in a city. I can't do it." I said softly.

"It's alright." He smiled softly.

"Tell me about your theme park." I asked.

"Well, it has just about anything you can imagine." He said.

"That's a lot." I said with a giggle. "I have a big imagination."

He laughed a little, "As do I, Sunshine."

I giggled. "Then, the theme park must be something incredible."

"I believe that it is." He smiled softly.

I smiled. "I'm sure it is."

He yawned a little and hugged me to him. "Goodnight." He said as he closed his eyes and pretended to snore.

I began laughing. "Crazy man." I said.

"Shh." He whispered. "I'm trying to sleep."

I arched an eyebrow. "You can't fake snore." I whispered as I situated myself and closed my eyes.

He laughed a little. "No, but I can try." He kissed my cheek.

I kissed his cheek back. "True." I said.

He smiled and noticed how we no longer heard my son practicing. "I'll be right back, Sunshine." He said as he stood up.

I nodded and smiled. "Alright." He walked down the hall to Mike's bedroom. I waited patiently for him to come back.

A few minutes later, he walked back to the living room to me.

I looked up at him. "Mike asleep?" I asked.

He nodded. "Yes, he asleep." He smiled a little and held out his hand. "Ready to go to sleep?"

I nodded and stood up, taking his hand in mine. "Yep. I'm pretty tired."

"Me too." He said as he led me to our room. I smiled and once we reached the bedroom, walked into the bathroom to change.

Erik changed as well and laid down. I walked out and laid down beside him.

He yawned a little and closed his eyes. "Goodnight. I love you, Sunshine."

"I love you too, Handsome." I whispered as I kissed his cheek and closed my eyes. He smiled softly and then dozed off to sleep. I soon fell asleep as well.
