ARE YOU PREGNANT
I was just back from the gym when I saw Liv in the kitchen, making eggs.
"Hey Liv, good morning." I said.
"Morning Mia. Want some eggs.?" She asked.
"Yeah sure. Where's Alex.?" I asked her, sitting at the kitchen island.
"He already left for work." She said, handing me a plate of eggs and sausage.
"This early.?" I asked again.
"Yeah, something urgent he said. Btw, how was your date yesterday.?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"It was good. We ate, we talked, a lot." I said.
"That's it.?" She asked, shocked.
"Yeah, it was our first date. What more was I supposed to do." I said sarcastically.
"Yeah right." She too grabbed a plate and started eating herself.
"Umm, Mia I wanted to talk to you about something." Liv said, sounding unsure.
"Are you pregnant. That's why I always tell you to be safe." I said, sitting up straighter.
"No, no. I'm not pregnant. It's just, Alex is acting a bit weird lately. Like either he is super romantic or super distant. There's no in between." Liv voiced her concern.
"He must be having tough days at work. Men tend to do that under pressure. Or he could be PMSing." I offered.
"I don't think its work. It's something else." Liv chuckled and replied.
"Then maybe........maybe, he is about to propose you." I said, this time happily.
"No, no. How can he ask me to marry him that suddenly." Liv was so damn unsecure.
"Why can't he? You both have been dating for almost 2 years now. And he definitely loves you." I tried to reason with her.
"One year seven months. But whatever, I really don't think he is about to propose me." She said again.
"Men are those beings whom we can never understand fully. We never know what's going inside that thick head of theirs." I said, trying again.
"Really. If he does by any chance propose me, I'm gonna be so happy." Her voice cracked a bit.
"Hey, don't cry. It's gonna be alright. But if he does anything to hurt you, he'll have me to answer to. No one hurts my bestfriend and lives." I said confidently, she chuckled.
She got up from her seat and hugged me tightly.
"I don't know what I would've done without you. You've done so much for me. I love you so much Mia." She said, hugging me tighter.
"I love you too." I said and kissed the side of her head.
"I took today off from work, so I'll be home all day. But I think you should hurry." She said, pushing me towards my room.
I just went with the push and off to my room. I quickly got a shower and dressed up in tight black jeans and baby pink silk blouse. I did my makeup quickly and put my hair in a sleek ponytail. I put on my stiletto heels and walked out of my room.
Liv was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she was in the bathroom. I just grabbed my keys and walked out of the apartment.
As soon as I was in my office, I decided to visit the kitchen even before checking whether Trevor was even in his office or not. I had totally skipped coffee in the morning today and I needed caffeine in my system.
I was just adding some half-n-half to my coffee when a hand snaked across my waist and I spilled it on the counter.
"Good morning beautiful." Trevor whispered in my ear, pressing a kiss there.
"Good morning. Why so romantic today." I teased him, turning around and putting my hands behind his neck.
"Oh, I wanted to do this for so long. Finally I had the chance." He replied, grabbing me by my waist and pushing me towards the counter. Just then he kissed me, slow and sensual, taking his time.
I just tugged the hair at his nape and pulled him closer. He groaned in my mouth and my breasts were pressed flush against his chest. He stopped kissing me and started kissing my jaw and down from there.
He was sucking at a sweet spot under my ear when a knock sounded at the door.
"Mia, are you in there.?" It was the receptionist, Nora.
"Yeah, just grabbing some coffee, I'll be out in a bit." I called back.
I was red in the face and Trevor was just smirking at me.
"You totally made me forget that we were in the office. Ugghh." I hit him on the shoulder and went out with my coffee.
"Hey, good morning." Nora said as soon as I got out.
"Hey, morning to you too." I replied taking my seat. She sat opposite to me.
"Actually I just got a call from a new client, Mr.Flynn. He wanted to talk to Mr.Chapman, and I tried forwarding the call to you but you were unavailable so I just stopped by to check if you were there." She explained.
"Oh no. You should have called my phone. They are a very important client." I said.
"If you check your phone, I think you are gonna find that I did try calling you but yoy just missed my calls." she said again, pointing at my phone.
I clearly had 3 missed calls and a text from Nora.
"Hey, don't worry. They said they will be in touch today." She said, and I visibly relaxed.
"Thank the lord." I muttered.
Nora and I were just talking when Trevor barged into the office.
"Mia, I think we have some unfinished business to attend to." Trevor said suggestively with a professional face.
"Good morning, Mr.Chapman. I'm sorry, I didn't knew I was interrupting." Nora said, getting up. Trevor just nodded at her.
I smiled at Nora as she showed herself out of my office.
"What unfinished business do we have Mr.Chapman.?" I asked him sarcastically.
"Oh you know well enough what I'm talking about." He said, taking a seat on my desk.
"Did you know Mr.Flynn called today. He wanted to talk to you about our deal I guess. Nora informed me that I missed his call." I said, crossing my legs and looked up at him.
"Oh don't worry. We'll get a hold of him and I'm almost sure about this deal." He replied.
"Overconfident much.?" I grinned.
"Just confident about my skills darling." He said flicking my nose.
"Whatever. We should get back to work. There's a lot to do. I don't want Stephen complaining about my sloppiness right after our first date." I said, flicking his nose in return.
"Oh, dad loves you more than he loves me. He's never gonna complain about anything you do." And just like that, with our bantering we went back to work.
Day was pretty busy, but everything was calm after around 4. That was when I got a call from Blaine.
"Hey stranger." She chirped.
"Hey. Why so happy.?" I asked straight away.
"Do you remember or not, it's my birthday this saturday.?" She asked.
"Ofcourse I do remember silly. I even have your gift ready." I replied.
"Cool then. We are going to a club. Just drinking and dancing and fun. You can bring anyone you want. The more the merrier." She said excitedly.
"Okay. Who is going to be your plus one.?" I asked smirking, though she could not see my smirk.
"Now that's gonna be a surprise. There's this guy, Roland. We've been seeing each other since a few weeks. I'm so excited for you to meet him." She was sounding way too happy.
"Okay. Let me just ask everyone and get back to you about who's coming. Maybe Jase will join us. He's in town." I said.
"Great. It's been long since I last saw him. Why don't you ask Olive to join us too. It will be fun." She suggested.
"Yeah sure. I will ask her too." We talked for a few more minutes and then went back to our seperate works.
I thought about asking Trevor to come too. So, I went inside his office. He had his glasses on his nose, and was looking at some file.
"Hi." I said.
"Hi. Come here." He beckoned, I went and sat on the desk.
"What would you say about going to a club with me this Saturday night.?" I asked him.
"Hmm. Suddenly club. What's the occasion.?" He asked.
"It's my friend Blaine's birthday and she wants to go to a club. You'll join me, right.?" I asked, looping my hands behind his neck.
"Ofcourse darling. I'll come with you." He repled, pulling me off his desk and on his lap.
"I'm gonna ask Jase too." I said.
"Hmmm." He replied and pulled me into a kiss.
It was almost 7 in the evening by the time I was finally home. I opened the door and could instantly hear faint music coming from somewhere inside. I dropped my keys on the counter and walked towards Liv's room.
I found her sleeping on her bed with a book on her chest and music softly playing through her phone. I turned off the music and put a blanket over her.
Then I went to my room to change and freshen up. It took me almost an hour to prepare dinner for both of us. As I was about to go wake up Liv, the doorbell rang.
It was Alex.
"Hey, what are you doing here. Liv didn't tell me you were coming over." I said, ushering him in and closing the door.
"Yeah. She didn't know I was coming. Actually she seemed upset yesterday and today morning. So, I decided to surprise her with some flowers." He said, waving the bunch of flowers at me.
"Yeah sure. She did sound pretty upset today morning. Anyways, she's asleep in her room." I pointed towards her door.
He went towards her room. I decided to grab my plate and go to my room, since I didn't want to eat alone in the kitchen. So I left a note for her on the fridge.
