ACCEPTABLE
"Tell me." Liv asked again.
"I don't know. Really. He didn't mention where we are going. He just told me we are going out for dinner. That's it." I replied.
"Oh come on Mia, this is the first real date you are going to in years." Liv snapped.
"No it's not. Just a few months back, I was on a date with....." I started.
"With...?" Liv cut me in between.
"Uhm, with someone maybe. I don't remember. I really do not know where he is taking me." I said again, frustrated.
"Stop riling her up babe. Calm down and take a deep breath." Alex said, faking a deep breath with his eyes closed.
"Fine. Gang up on me both of you." She huffed.
Alex just tackled her on my bed and smacked a kiss on her cheeks. They were too cute for me. As of right now, it was half past 6 in the evening and Trevor was supposed to pick me up for our date in almost an hour. And here I was fresh out of a shower rummaging in my closet in just a bathrobe and a towel on my head.
I finally got out with a short black dress. It was off the shoulders long sleeved dress. And it had lace showing at the bottom. It was cute, classy and perfect.
"Ugghhh, this dress is just perfect. Let me find the perfect shoes." And she disappeared in my closet.
"What exactly is with you girls and your friends picking out your shoes.?" Alex asked, looking genuinely confused.
"I guess you'll never get it." I said, sitting at my dresser.
After about half an hour, I was done with my makeup. I put on my dress and the strappy black louboutins that Liv had picked out for this dress. I put on my diamond stud earrings and I was done with 15 minutes to spare.
"Woah, you look hot." Alex commented, giving me an all over look.
"Of course, she always does." Liv said from the kitchen. She was preparing dinner for both of them. Alex was just standing awkwardly there, not knowing what to do since Liv was not letting him touch anything.
"Enough guys, stop with the complements." I said.
The bell rang.
I went to open the door. Trevor was standing there in all his glory. I was somehow reminded of the day when he was here to pick me up for the party.
"Hey beautiful." He greeted, kissing me on the cheek.
"Hey, come on in." I said, closing the door behind him.
"These are for you." He said, handing me a bouquet of pale pink roses. They were beautiful.
"Aww, they are beautiful. Thank you." I replied taking them.
Just then, Liv and Alex emerged from the kitchen.
"Trevor, meet my friends. This is Liv and Alex." I introduced them.
"Hey." He said, smiling that CFO smile.
He talked to both of them for a few moments before we were ready to leave.
"I'm ready. We can leave now." I said. He looked kinda....... relieved.
As soon as we were back in his car, I asked him.
"Did you not like Liv and Alex.?" I said narrowing my eyes.
"It's not that. I just thought I needed their approval." He answered shyly.
"Trevor Chapman, CFO of Chapman.Inc, thought he needed approval. What happened.?" I teased him.
"Nothing happened. You know, I never had a serious girlfriend like ever. No, actually you don't, Jason knows that. So, I just want us to work." He said, and my heart leaped a beat.
"You sound different since the party." I mused.
"I'm not different. I just put aside my mask in front of you. This is the actual me. Maybe you will find me different than I used to be." He said.
"You know, you are too sweet for your own good." I said again, smiling.
"And you are too beautiful." He said, and leaned over towards me and kissed me lightly.
We went to a high-end restaurant for dinner, which I had visited a few times. We were led to a table that was a bit secluded. All the time was spent with us chatting about anything and everything. We talked about our schools, parents, college, favorite food....blah blah blah.
The food was good, and ambience was better. I enjoyed the evening a lot. After Trevor asked for the check, I told him.
"This was wonderful. I really enjoyed." I said, holding his hand over the table.
"Well then, we'll be doing this more often." He said, placing a kiss on my knuckles.
Trevor paid and we left. Now we were back in his car.
"So, what do you want to do next.?" He asked me.
"We should get dessert. Ice cream maybe." I suggested.
"Yeah, and I think I know the perfect place." He said and started his car.
We went to this cute little place that sold gelatos. I freaking loved gelato. We both got our gelatos and walked out of the place and in his car.
"Why you never had a serious girlfriend.?" I asked him out of curiosity.
"I just never wanted strings. The old me never wanted to be bound in a relationship. Plus I did see many of my friend's relationships ending badly and so I never got serious with anybody. After university, I just invested myself to the company." He said.
"Acceptable." I replied.
"Why did you never had any previous relationships.?" This time he asked.
"I was in a relationship in highschool that I told you about that night at the party. The way it ended, that was a bad time for me. I never wanted to be that broken and hurt again. But still I tried dating a guy in uni. But it ended within a month. So yeah, that's why." I explained.
"Acceptable." He repeated my comment.
"It's getting late. I think we should get going." He said.
"Yeah, we should." I replied.
But instead of turning on the ignition, he just leaned forward and kissed me, holding my face in his hand. The kiss was firm yet sweet, and left me breathless.
It was after 10 that we were parked in front of my apartment.
"So, see you tomorrow then." I said, clicking on the lock on my door.
"Yeah, we will. Goodnight babe." He said, kissing my cheek.
"Goodnight." I said, and got out of his car.
He waited until I was out of sight and then drove away. This date was perfect. I never knew Trevor, with whom I've been working with for more than a year, was going to be it for me.
It was just too good to be true.
