Yu-Jin was particularly feeling down today for some reason. Whenever she had those days, reading would help her calm down. She decided to explore the school library and calm down her restlessness. She was walking down the corridor to the library when she saw many students at the library's main door. She cringed at that.
One thing Yu-Jin didn't like was a crowd or just socializing with people in general. She preferred to be alone. She decided that it wasn't worth going through all this trouble for a book when she could go to her local bookshop. Just as she was about to make a turn to go back to her class, she saw another small door leading to the library.
A smile broke out on her face. Maybe, today wouldn't be so bad. She opened the door and looked around. So far, no one was looking at her. She opened her phone and pretended to look at it to seem busy and walked into the room. Then suddenly, she felt someone colliding with her, making her fall.
"Ouch!" She groaned as her back collided with the floor. Damn, it hurts like a b*tch! She thought. The heavy weight of the person wasn't making it easier.
She looked up, ready to curse the f*ck out of them when she saw who it was.
"You!" They both yelled in the quiet space, making the other students glance at them. It was the rude boy from her class! This made her mentally groan.
Yu-Jin shoved Chong-Sik away from her and got up. She dusted her clothes before she bowed to the other students for disturbing them. Then her gaze returned to the culprit that was still on the ground staring at her with a smirk on his face.
"Well, if it isn't Ms. America. How was your night after ruining my day?" He got up and towered over her.
Yu-Jin wasn't intimidated. She instead held his gaze and scoffed. Why did she have to run into the worst person in this school? She thought.
"My night went well. In fact, It was the best sleep I have ever gotten."
He rolled his eyes. What was this girl that made him get riled up? He doesn't get annoyed easily instead he is the one that gets people riled up.
Just as he was about to retort back, the corner of his eyes caught another girl that was coming towards him and stiffened up.
He completely forgot that he was trying to get away from her. He hurriedly picked up his bag and glanced at Yu-Jin.
"I am going to finish with you later." And he sprinted out of the room just as the girl yelled his name.
Yu-Jin furrowed her brows and shook her head. That was strange. Why did he look like he saw a ghost?
"Yah! Where did Oppa go?" A chirpy voice came behind her.
She turned to see a small petite girl with short brown hair decorated with bright colorful hairpins and her hands on her waist, glaring at Yu-Jin for some reason.
Yu-Jin turned to look at her sides to see if she was confusing her for someone else. "Are you talking to me?" She pointed to herself.
The girl flared her nose and scoffed. "Yeah, who else? There is no one beside you."
Yu-Jin widened her eyes. Who was this girl talking rudely to her and for what?
"What Oppa are you talking about?"
"The one that was beside you just a few seconds ago. Chong-Sik Oppa."
Ah! She was talking about that bastard. They say birds of the same feather flock together. It made sense he attracted people with similar idiotic personalities.
"I don't know where he went. Why don't you go after him if you are curious?" And just as Yu-Jin was about to pass her, the girl spoke up.
"I don't know why you were talking to him but beware I know your types."
Yu-Jin stopped on her track and left out a huff. She turned back towards her. "You speak as of you know me personally. Besides, are you that insecure that you had to approach me?"
"Me? Insecure? That word is not associated with me."
Yu-Jin let out a mocking laugh. "Your entire presence is reeking of bullshit. If he were yours in the first place, you wouldn't be this insecure of a ' mere being like me'. Though don't worry, I won't steal something that belongs to you." And she walked away leaving the girl appalled.
Chong-Sik felt big relief after he was able to get away from that weird girl without talking to her. How can a person be this obsessed with someone? That he had no idea. On top of handling that stalker, he had to deal with the American chick. What was her name again? Ye-Jin or was it Ye-Ji, anyways, her name didn't matter to him. He had more pressing matters, like what to do for fun tonight.
"Hey Hyung!" Hands wrapped around his shoulder suddenly almost making him lose his balance. "Where have you been all day? I have been looking all over for you."
Chong-Sik shrugged his arms off. "The hell, Minjun! I told you many times not to jump on me like that."
Minjun just let out a cheeky grin feeling amused by the situation. "You looked like you needed a booster with how you seem lost in your thoughts."
"Only an idiot like you would come with stupid stuff like that."
"Haha, very funny," He said sarcastically. "Anyways, are you coming tonight? I heard they are hosting a huge party down at the hall."
Chong-Sik shrugged. "I don't know, man. I don't feel like going out to party tonight."
Minjun just stared at Chong-Sik with his mouth wide-gaped. He then placed the back of his hand on Chong-Sik's forehead.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" He shrugged his arm off him and glanced at him with confusion.
"I was checking if you had a fever cause you sound delirious."
Chong-Sik let out a scoff, his brow furrowing with confusion. "What do you mean by being delirious? I feel perfectly fine." And to prove that he started to jump up and down while pumping his fist, producing a grunting noise
"Hyung, have you finally lost your mind?"
"The hell? Not that I can think of."
Minjun just stared at Chong-Sik with his mouth wide-gaped. "Why would you even suggest not going to the party tonight?"
Chong-Sik heaved a sigh. "We party every time, man. I want to just have fun without the loud music for once." He then let out a chuckle. "Besides, I know that girl is going to be there again and I can't deal with her antics again."
"Yeah, what's with her? It is like she is everywhere that you are."
"I don't know, man. I was just at the library where I saw her again."
Minjun patted his shoulders and gave him a sympathetic smile. "It is okay, she will get bored of chasing you one day. In the meantime, what's your plan to do tonight?"
He lifted his chin, the corner of his mouth turning up. "I have a place in mind."

"Yah! Yu-Jin. Where are you going at this time of the night?" Bong-Soon wiped her hands dry on her apron and glanced at her daughter who looked like a deer caught in headlights standing by the door.
"Ah." She gave a lopsided grin. "Fresh air?"
Bong-Soon placed her hands on her waist and raised her eyebrows. "Fresh air at this time?"
Yu-Jin heaved a sigh whilst leaning against the door. "I know, but there isn't a better time than now."
"But after what happened last time? I don't think that is a good idea."
Her mom was right, Yu-Jin thought. Ever since the encounter with the emoji killer, she has been unable to get sleep. There were other times she felt suffocated in her room so the only way she could feel she could breathe was by taking a stroll.
"I know, mom but don't worry, I will be safe. Besides, I think I can handle myself like last time."
Bong-Soon threw her hands up. "Handle? You got yourself injured last time. Who knows what might happen this time?"
Yu-Jin stared at her mother. The worry lines on her face becoming more evident for the past few days. She didn't want to worry her mother anymore thus she figured the only way she could do this was to lie.
"Okay, Umma. I won't be going anymore." She moved away from the door and got closer to her mom's side. "I will be going back to my room and reading my book. Now, I know you guys know that I don't like to be disturbed whilst reading, right."
"Yah!" She gave a light spank on her shoulder. "Who are you trying to warn?"
Yu-Jin giggled as she ran away from her mom who was chasing her with a spatula and locked herself in her room.
"I swear, kids these days." Bong-Soon tsked and walked away to the kitchen.
As soon as Yu-Jin got inside her room. She started setting her plan in motion. She knew if she stayed in her room any more second, there would be a chance that she won't be able to sleep again tonight.
She turned her Bluetooth on and played her music at a minimum volume that wasn't too loud but made it seem that she was listening to background music. Then she checked her door again to make sure that it was locked before walking towards her window.
She opened it and took a deep breath before she placed her right foot outside. Somewhere in her gut, she knew this was wrong and that she breaking her mom's trust but she knew had to do this for herself.
She started trekking along the main road, feeling the fresh air on her face. She placed her hands inside her hoodie's pocket and a smile finally appeared on her face. Yu-Jin enjoyed the outdoors. There was more space for her to breathe in and she was able to finally let her thoughts go, something she couldn't do when she was stuck in a four walls room.
As she walked around the streets of Seoul, she never thought that she would grow to like it. Everyone on the street walking to get to their destination, but none seemed to be paying attention to her. Here, she wasn't just an Asian. To them, she was one of their own. She didn't have to worry about the hate crimes back home.
Just as she turned towards a corner where nobody was on site, she started hearing a sound.
"Meow."
Did she just imagine or was that a cat's voice?
She stopped and started taking a look around for the source of the noise.
"Meow." Came the voice, this time very close to where she was standing. Beside her, there was a small red Toyota car and the cat's voice seemed to come under the car.
She kneeled on the ground and placed a palm on the floor and started looking around and there it was, a pair of couple eyes staring back at her.
"Hey kitty, come here." She gently brought her palm close to the cat. The cat took a step back, letting out a scared meow.
Now, looking back at the car's back, she could see the car slumping forward because of the busted tires thus trapping the cat. How was the cat able to get down there in the first place? She wondered.
There was only one thing she could do now. She got up and dusted the dust off her pants before she started looking around to make sure no one was there and grabbed the back of the car and carried it.
After she moved it away from the cat by inching it forward, she placed the car down and kneeled to grab the cat who this time, didn't run away from her.
"Hey, you are okay now." She bounced it on her arm and patted her fur. The cat let out a small meow, making her smile.
"Did you just carry a car by yourself?!" Came a thick voice behind her, wiping the smile off as fear took on her face.
Sh*t. She thought.
