"Yah! Bong-Soon!" Her mother's loud voice screeched behind the screen as soon as she picked up the phone. "When are you going to bring my grandkids? Don't you know that your father is sick?"
Bong Soon rolled her eyes at her mother's dramatic antics. She knew her mother was lying as she talked with her father earlier in the day. He was doing well and in fact, he opened another bakery around the local area as his business was booming.
She sighed. "Umma, why can't you just say that you missed your grandkids instead of creating one of your sob stories?"
Her mother made a loud gasp. There she goes again. Bong thought. Her mother was a drama queen, maybe that was where Jin-Yu got her dramatic antics from.
"You! What do you mean by 'creating one of your sob stories'?!" She yelled into the phone. "I have raised you better than that."
Bong just placed her phone under her neck and leaned into it. She took a step towards the kitchen to get started on lunch. Her mother's rants took a long time so she might as well use them to do something productive.
"Umma, calm down. I was just saying that it is okay to miss your grandkids." She grabbed a knife out of the cabinet and took her ingredients out of the fridge.
"You know what? I don't have the time to argue with your stone-head today. Can you just bring my grandkids?"
Bong-Soon stopped chopping the onions with a disbelief look on her face. Was her mother okay? She wondered. For the first time, she did not have the time to argue which was quite surprising.
"Umma, are you okay?"
"Yeah, why?"
She shook her head then she realized that she couldn't see her. "It is just that you wanted to stop arguing."
"You are making it sound like I like arguing. Yah! Brat! Do you want to die?"
"Nevermind. Anyways, I can bring the girls over the weekend."
"Good. You better." She could hear the joyful tone and rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. As much as her mother annoyed her, she loved the old lady to bits after all she was the reason why she was the strong woman she is today.
"Okay, umma. I have got to go now as I need to take lunch to my husband later on."
"Yeah, see you later. I need to ward off those women too. They have been coming to the store a lot lately and I am sure it is not for the goods."
Bong-Soon let out a chuckle. "That's you just being paranoid, mom." She rolled her eyes as she remembered something. "Besides, at this age, I don't think you should worry about your husband cheating. That's the last thing on his mind."
"Yah! Who said that I was worried about him cheating? It is those old women that are trying to be hip nowadays, I am worried about."
"You know, m-" Suddenly Bong-Soon had a loud crash. She whipped her head around making her phone fall on the ground.
"Bong! Are you okay?! What was that?!" Her mother kept on yelling.
She picked the phone up and saw that her screen cracked. "Yes, umma. I am okay. Listen, I will call you later. I need to check something." And she hung up the phone, cutting off her mother.
She tiptoed carefully to the living room, clutching her phone tightly on her left hand. Upon reaching, she saw the window had a broken hole which meant someone threw something at it.
She checked around the scene to make sure no one was around then she got closer to the window to see that there was a crumpled paper alongside the shreds on the ground.
Walking carefully around the window pieces, she squatted down and grabbed the paper. Bong threw the stone that was inside aside and unfolded the paper. In it, there was a message written on it.
Dear Bong,
Welcome back to Seoul. I hope your life in the States has been good because things are about to get messy here.
Do you know when you went away, how many crimes were committed? You probably didn't know as you were busy enjoying your life with your family.
Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you back to the community as no one seemed to have done that yet.
Have you seen the news yet? That was my gift to you for coming back and more are to be coming soon.
See you when the sun rises again,
Your biggest fan,
-HappyEmoji
She stared at the paper for a good five minutes before she got up and crumbled the paper. She wanted to believe that this was just a prank being done on her but whoever did this knew more information about her for her to think that it was just a prank.
Whoever this was just threatened her and her family and she couldn't let them get away with it. She would protect her family even if it meant she would lose her life while doing it.

"So, are any of you ready to tell us what you have been talking about?" His eyes narrowed as he waited for one of them to speak up.
Yu-Jin heaved a sigh. It was either for her to throw the asshole under the bus or both of them to get in trouble and she didn't like the idea of the latter. For one, she needs the scholarship to get into the university of her choice, and getting into detention wasn't a great way to start, and secondly, her grandmother wouldn't leave her in peace if she heard that she got in trouble. The con of the first choice would be that he would get in trouble but that wouldn't be his first time judging by his reputation and secondly, he doesn't seem to care about his education as much as her, so why not?
Well, here goes nothing. She thought. "My apologies, sir. It was just he kept on talking and I told him to shut up because I wasn't able to pay attention because of it."
"Excuse me, what?!" Chong-Sik yelled.
"Mr. Kim, this is a class. It is not a place for you to do whatever you feel like." The teacher frowned.
"But Sir, this girl is throwing me under the bus."
"Oh." She turned around to face him. "So are you saying that I am lying?"
"No, b-" She cut him off. "Exactly. As you can see, Sir. He acknowledged that I wasn't lying."
His expression hardened up. "This girl is twisting things, Sir."
The teacher shifted his attention back to him. "Did you or not talk in class, Mr. Kim?"
"Yes, I did."
"Then you were at fault. I will see you after lunch. This is your second strike, Mr.Kim"
Chong-Sik huffed out a breath as he glared at Yu-Jin who had a smug look on her face. His eyes screamed that he would get her back for this.
She just let out a small chuckle and shook her head as she faced forward. Bring it on, Jerk. She thought. This wouldn't be her first time dealing with an overrated with a big ego idiot.

As soon as the bell for lunch rang, Yu-Jin grabbed her bag and took the seat next to her sister. Some of the students left the class while others remained in class to eat their lunch.
Jin-Yu groaned and facepalmed her forehead onto her table. "How many more periods left before we can go home?"
Yu-Jin checked her schedule. So far they had done four periods and now it was lunchtime which took at least fifty minutes with recess. Their next period would start at 1:30 pm and they had to go through three more periods plus a homeroom where they would have to clean their class?
Yu-Jin stared at the schedule again to confirm what she was. Clean the classroom?
"Yah! Jin-Yu. Look, we are supposed to clean the class after we are done with our last period.
Jin-Yu got up from her leaning position and grabbed the paper from her. Her eyes observed the information before she let out a big gasp.
"Nooo!"
"Damn, chill." Yu-Jin snatched the schedule from her before placing it inside her binder. "You don't have to gasp out that loud."
Jin-Yu blinked before she frowned. "They can't make us clean, right? I mean, isn't that the janitor's job or they don't have one?"
"Just from that comment, I get the vibe that you are the princess type." A fruity voice came behind Jin-Yu interrupting them.
They both looked up to see a boy that was around their height but a little taller. He had his uniform tucked out and his hands in his pants pockets. Their eyes flickered to his face and boy they couldn't deny he was cute. His blue eyes sparkled with mischief and his smile was laced with dimples.
But Jin-Yu wasn't going to let him have it with the comment he made earlier no matter how cute he was. "Excuse me? Haven't you heard that it is rude to disrupt a conversation? Not only that, but it seemed that you were eavesdropping."
His smile dropped as he faced Jin-Yu. Well, someone got a bite. He let out a small chuckle.
"I am sorry for being rude, but I said what I said. Here, in Korea, we do things differently and I am sure that you noticed it."
"Yeah, no shit sherlock." Yu-Jin rolled her eyes.
"You both sisters need to chill. You might offend the wrong person, one day." He dragged a seat and placed it near them.
Jin-Yu scrunched her nose. "Why are you sitting next to us?"
"Because I want to be friends." He forwarded his hand out for a handshake. "My name is Lee Ha-Ru but you can call me Harry too."
Yu-Jin stared at his hand for a moment before she laced it with hers. She didn't get a bad vibe from him and she always trusted her guts as it never let her down. "Well, Harry. I don't think you are fully Korean, right? I get a foreign vibe l from you."
The corner of his mouth lifted. "Yeah, you are right. I am half British and half Korean." He trailed his eyes between the twins. "I moved here when I was around seven years old."
"That's nice."Jin-Yu smiled, her eyes disappearing. "My name is Jin-Yu and that's my sister, Yu-Jin."
"Oh! I love how your names are reversed."
Yu-Jin gave a lopsided grin. "Yeah, everyone always points that out when they first meet us."
"It is still cool, though."
"Yeah, yeah. Anyways, what's with this cleaning routine?" Jin-Yu opened her lunch box and scooped some rice into her mouth.
Harry also took out his lunch as he grinned. "It is a big story. You guys have got a lot to learn about Korea."
"Well then, entertain us." Yu-Jin leaned forward and took a sip out of her juice box.
"Here goes nothing." And he started telling them interesting facts about Korea they might haven't known before.
