Luka and the Stars
Chapter One: Gradient
"I'm sorry my sibling, they aren't comfortable with your presents yet..." Luka sighed to Savi.
"Are they still afraid of me," Savi paused,"even after they stole my wings from me..." Savi growled.
Luka soon heard the sound of something jumping onto the ground, as if off of a limb or platform.
Luka froze while Savi spoke,
"Who is there, show yourself coward!"
The only response was the sound of a twig snapping.
"HEY!"
"Savi watch your tone, you don't know who it is!" Luka softly hissed to her sibling
Luka looked towards where the sound originated.
"Hello friend?" Luka paused, "please I won't hurt you."
Soon a young girl with a hood on stepped out of the wood line. She had green-yellow eyes and red marking on her cheeks.
Luka's ears perked up as they stared at the child.
"Oh hello there, are you lost little one?"
"No." The girl said softly, still nervous about the two.
"Oh is your village near here-" Luka started before she was interrupted.
"Luka do you realize what this means, humans live near us, our people!" Savi quietly exclaimed.
"W-what?!" The girl's right eye turned to an exclamation point.
Luka put a hand in front of Savi's face to quiet them.
"You are not human little friend, are you?" Luka said with a friendly smile.
"N-no." Her eyes darted at every sound as if watching for anything that might try to attack her.
Luka tilted their head to the side in confusion.
"Are you okay small friend, do you need help from something?"
"I-I'm just al-always nervous." The girl blushed green.
"Do you have a place to be?" Savi sneered, glaring at them.
"No." The girl answered, slightly backing away.
Luka got down to the child's height.
"It is okay little one, ignore them" Luka looked at Savi and shook their head.
Savi sighed and rolled their eyes. The girl still backed up bit, leaving a good distance between her and the others.
"This isn't getting anywhere..." Savi spoke aloud.
"Savi hush," Luka looked at the child again,"May I ask your name, if alright with that of course."
"Gr-gradient." The girl said, seemingly getting more comfortable with Luka's presence.
"My name is Luka and this grumpy being is Savi." Luka smiled once more.
"Nice to m-meet you." Gradient lowered her head.
Luka slowly rose to their feet. Gradient backed up.
Suddenly the sound of childish laughs filled the air. Gradient's eyes filled with fear, she summoned a black board and got on it before zipping off at an alarming speed.
Luka looked around in alarm, wings covering them in order to protect them, while Savi got into a fighting stance.
"Stupid birds, stupid birds." A feminine voice laughed in a sing-song voice. Savi stared into the space around them and yelled,
"You ignorant fool, we are not birds!"
There was more laughter. "Yes, yes! Mad, mad!"
"Savi, you do not know what we are dealing with!" Luka scolded their sibling.
A knife shot out of the dark forest and pinned Savi to a tree by their jacket.
"Savi!!" Luka yelled in worry.
Another knife shot out and did the same to Luka. "Fun,fun."
Luka struggled with the knife in their scarff and stared forward.
A woman with black and white hair came out of the shadows. She had a smile carved in her face. She fiddled with a dagger in her hand. "Stupid, stupid."
Luka used their wings to force them self out of the tree, springing into the air with speed, while Savi just took off their jacket.
The woman did a backflip and perched on a tree branch she laughed as she disappeared. Luka looked around and then looked down at their sibling who was glaring at the darkness.
The woman reappeared behind Savi and put a knife up to their throat. She laughed as she looked at Luka. "Mad,mad."
Luka stared at the women then landed on the ground softly.
"Not mad, curious." Luka said softly.
The woman's mismatched eyes gleamed with joy. "Really, really?"
"Yes, I would like to know why such rash actions?" Luka paused.
"It's called genocide for a reason." The woman laughed as she made Savi bleed a bit.
Luka's eyes widened, as they remembered savi once saying that sentence.
"I-I don't understand, wait...What can I do to save my sibling?" Luka stuttered
"Fun, fun." The woman laughed as she put her knife away and tripped Savi. "I'll save you two for later."
Savi slowly backed away then quickly made their way behind Luka.
"Aww, scaredy,scaredy." The woman laughed.
Savi growled and was about to say something, but Luka quickly hushed them.
"Thank you for sparing us for now I suppose." Luka spoke with wings up covering Savi.
"You're funny, funny." The woman laughed the grin carved in her face making her eyes gleam.
"They're also stupid.." Savi whispered angrily.
"You are more, more. They knew to run, run." The woman laughed as she fiddled with her knife.
Savi growled again, the woman flared her eyes making them glow in return, one black, one white.
Luka quickly hushed Savi again,
"Might you keep being stupid and making horrible choices, they almost killed you and you're going to 'growl' at them?" They said warningly to their sibling.
"I'm female, female." The woman said, her eyes stop flaring.
"Oh sorry then, if I might ask who are you?" Luka questioned
"L.J. I'm a genocide star, star." L.J. chuckled.
Savi glared at their sibling,
"Getting comfortable with the chick that tried to kill us, sad my dear sibling... "
L.J. circled around Luka and Savi.
Luka got uncomfortable with this action and quickly blocked L.J. from their older sibling.
"Please don't worry about their stupid remarks."
"Aww, cute, cute. So, you two aren't stars...shame,shame." L.J. then went over to the trees and grabbed her knives.
Luka tilted their head in question.
"Stars?"
"Wow, you are stupid, stupid. I'm a star, star. Since I'm a Genocide star I kill, kill." L.J. chuckled.
"We are not from where are from, I'm sorry for not knowing..." Luka stated.
"Me neither, neither. I killed off my own world, world. No fun there, there." L.J. laughed.
Luka jumped a little, while Savi cringed.
"Humf, why kill the world when you can take control of it..." Savi mumbled, Luka gasped and smacked Savi in the back of the head.
"Because that is no fun, fun. I'm genocide not a dictator, dictator." L.J. laughed at the siblings. She clapped her hands together, pleased. "See, see? This is fun, fun."
"I'm glad you're having fun." Luka said, ears and head low. Savi staying quiet, making sure Luka doesn't interrupt them again.
"You sure are different, different." L.J. giigled.
"You got that right, Luka is definitely something... " Savi mumbled. Luka rolled their eyes at Savi.
"Welp, I have things to kill, kill." L.J. stuck her tongue out.
"You do that..." Savi said bitterly, while Luka smiled warily.
Chapter 2: The village
L.J. ran off. Luka soon heard someone else nearby.
"Oh, who is there?" Luka asked softly.
"M-me... is L.J. g-gone..." Gradient stuck her head out of the shadows.
"Yeah she's gone...Finally..." she said bitterly.
Gradient came out of the shadows, she saw Savi's neck wound. "A-are y-you okay? I-I can heal you."
Savi's eyes softened at the child and sighed,
"If you really want to kid..." They got down to Gredients' height so they could reach. Gradient put her thumb on his wound and his skin reformed.
"T-there you should be okay now."
Savi rolled their neck and popped it, getting up.
"Thanks kid."
"Y-you're wel-welcome." Gradient stuttered.
Luka stared at Savi with stars in their eyes with a clear smile on their face.
"Wipe that smile off your face you idiot..." Savi growled, blushing a slight yellowish-green.
Gradient lowered her head at Savi's growl.
Luka then giggled lightly,
"Go get your Jacket you grumpy feather you." Luka said in a teasing manner.
Gradient looked at Luka in a confused manner. "Feather?"
Luka looked down at Gradient and spoke,
"Feather is a term we use to say sibling sometimes, like Savi calls me little feather."
"I-I have a sibling." Gradient said.
Luka's ears perked up,
"Oh, where are they, if you don't mind me asking?"
"They are with, Mom. I'm here on my own." Gradient said feeling more comfortable with the two siblings.
"Do they want you back at a certain time or not, because i could fly you home, or do you need a place to stay for now, I could take to my village?" Luka spoke with care.
"You can't take me home silly, my home is not in the world. And I will be happy to see your 'village'." Gradient smiled.
"Oh well then...Alright I can take you, but Savi can not come with unfortunately.." Luka spoke sadly.
"Why?" Gradient asked.
Luka was about to speak, but Savi cut them off,
"I did something...something terrible that I deeply regret.." Savi spoke with ears and head down.
"Everyone does bad things, and if you can admit that it was bad then you are a good person." Gradient raised her chest, proving her point.
Savi smiled softly,
"Thank you...Gradient..."
Gradient smiled.
Luka smiled at Gradient and Savi and spoke again,
"We should go then, Savi, maybe you can come as long as you stay near me." Savi huffed in agreement.
The two siblings started walking and Gradient summoned her board, floating beside them.
After a while they all went over a hill where they all saw a slight snowy village with very small houses and not very many other beings.
Gradient got off her board and touched at the snow, as if it was something new. She took her hand out of the snow to find her fingertips were crystallized.
"I'm not sure if the child is used to snow Luka..." Savi whispered to Luka.
"Is that what this stuff is? It's cool." Gradient said as she rubbed her finger together making the crystals disappear.
Luka giggled and said,
"Indeed, that is snow...My people have learned to live in it for centuries..."
Gradient bit her bottom lip as some of the snow turned black, she moved her hands around it and formed it into a crystal flower. "It's cool."
Savi smiled mischievously and grabbed some snow in their talons, then proceeded to throw the snow at Luka.
"Hey!" Luka said in a warning tone, "Don't make me throw snow at you too, it won't be pretty..."
Gradient looked confused. Luka cocked her head and said,
"When Savi and I were young feathers, we would throw snow at each other."
Gradient smiled and her eyes glew as a pair of black wings formed on her back. The wings scooped up the snow and buried Savi and Luka. "Like that?"
Savi popped out the snow laughing, while Luka giggled and used their wings to shake off the snow and throw some at Savi.
"Wow Savi, I haven't heard you laugh like that in a while." Luka said smirking. Savi stopped laughing, but still had a smile on their face and said,
"Because you're always too busy and are too 'mature'."
Gradient smiled as she snuck up behind Luka and put snow on their back. She laughed and used her board to get away before Luka could get her back. She had a smile on her face, her right eye was flaring like L.J.'s, except it was lime green.
Luka swiftly scooped up the snow with their wings and twisted around to throw snow everywhere.
Gradient wrapped her wings around herself and buried herself to avoid the flying snow. She then completely flattened her body to hide.
"That's the little feather I remember!" Savi chuckled as they brushed off the snow.
Luka fell into the snow laughing only to be picked up by Savi and twirled around. Gradient kept still and waited, a grin on her face.
Savi put Luka down and spoke,
"We should continue to the village." smiling slightly.
Both tilted their heads in confusion looking around. Noticing Gradient was gone.
Gradient smiled as she jumped up, grabbing Savi, her arms wrapping around their torso. "Gotcha!" She cheered, her eye flaring at the play.
"Ahhh." Savi spoke doing jazz hands; twisting so Gradient fell in the snow. Gradient got back up and smiled.
"Well, my- well our people Savi, are curious of all the sound up here, we should go on." Luka softly giggled again.
Gradient saw the all of the people and yelped. She was shy and blushed green.
Savi looked at Gradient and gave her a smile,
"You're okay...Is me they're going to worry about..."
"There are too many..." She said softly.
Luka then spoke,
"Gradient if you uncomfortable you can hide until I take care of them."
"Y-yes please..."She said.
"Go ahead then, I have take care of Savi..." Luka said, Savi looked nervous.
Gradient buried herself again.
Luka walked over to the people and spoke, but was interrupted.
"Why is that monster here?" a raspy voice spoke.
Gradient heard this and whimpered, Savi heard her.
"It is okay, you're fine, It is I that are speaking to."
"That is my sibling and they are forever my sibling, you will not refer to my sibling as a monster." Luka spoke as a matter of factly.
Savi growled and was about yell, but remembered about Gradient so they spoke softly,
"Please do not yell, we have another that doesn't like yelling," Savi paused and spoke again, "Please understand i don't want to talk about what I did in front of them..."
The people looked angry, but stopped when Luka gave all of them a look of displeasure.
"If you would like to meet them you can, just not all at once.." Luka spoke, remembering Gradient's reaction to the crowd.
A greenish figure with no wings, but feathers for hair walked forward. With milky eyes they tried to find where they are.
Gradient kept still but helped the person find her by making a clicking sound repeatedly.
The being's ears flare up and walk up a little then spoke,
"I'm very sorry I'm blind, can't see very well.."
Gradient crawled out of the snow. "I-it's ok-okay... M-mom has a fr-friend t-that's blind..."
"Oh well then, my name is Grow-Sava, I am a doctor here..." they bowed their head a bit.
Gradient also lowered her head. "I-I'm Gr-Gradient..."
A smaller yellow figure approached slowly, keeping their head down.
Gradient saw them and backed up a little.
The smaller figure slowly looked up, cuddling up to Grow-Sava,
"H-hello... m-my name is Sevi...w-who are y-you..." looking up at Gradient with glowing yellow eyes.
Gradient dug her hand in the snow. "Gr-Gradient."
"I-it's ni-nice to m-meet you G-Grad-ient..." they looked up at Grow-Sava and they whispered some supplies to get and Sevi slowly backed away, then ran.
"They is very shy, like you."
Gradient got her hand out of the snow. "o-oh...A-are y-you a p-pacifist?"
Grow-Sava smiled softly and spoke,
"Of course, I wish to never harm anyone, no matter how horrible they are."
Gradient immediately softened up. "Okay, I was worried if you were a genocide."
"Oh no." They whispered to Gradient, "Beware of Savi, they are dangerous and violent, be careful."
"They don't seem to be..."
"You do not know what they capable of, you don't know what they have done."
"And you don't know what I even am." Gradient pointed out, she felt her face get heated.
"But what I know what Savi did, if you ever want to know what they did please do ask them..."
"It doesn't matter, if these things did... my Mom would have been killed, as would I." Gradient said, willing to protect her friend in any form of way.
They turned away,
"I just saying, they were a Genocide once." they walked away, ending the conversation.
Gradient shook the thought out of her head. She didn't care if they used to be genocide and if they still were they would have killed her.
A rather grumpy, watery looking figure being pushed forward by a bright fairy person, went the water thing was close enough the fairy flew out of sight.
Gradient acted nervous around the water thing. She buried her hands in the snow, ready to flee if necessary, it didn't help calm her nerves that the sun was starting to set.
The water thing sighed and avoided eye contact. As Gradient inspected them they were indeed made of water with a water ponytail and a smooth rock heart in the middle of his chest.
Gradient backed away, knowing what can happen.
"Look kid, nothing to be afraid of, if you want me to back up I will."
Gradient didn't answer, just kept her distance.
He sighed and spoke again,
"My names is impronunciable in human lingo, so names rick..." Rick spoke while looking around behind Gradient and into the woods. The sun had set and night time had come.
"Gradient..." Gradient muttered while watching her back nervously, as if she sensed something.
Rick shivered and looked uncomfortable,
"Maybe I should go...I don't...I don't know, If you can understand...Gradient was it?" He spoke wearily.
"Yeah, we s-should run...." Gradient started to back away from the woodline. She turned to run but a black tentacle wrapped around her ankle. Gradient was held upside down Gradient tried to squirm out.
Savi jumped and yelled,
"Gradient, oh tell me we have to fight..." They looked rather scared, not knowing whether or not to jump into action or not. Luka came running next to Savi and telling to townspeople to go inside.
A girl covered in black came out of the shadows, she had four tentacles and a light blue eye, the other was missing. "Stupid pacifist." The girl hissed as she grabbed Gradient's chest with another tentacle.
Savi was ready to jump to help Gradient, but they were stopped by Luka. Gradient twisted around and the older star tightened her tentacles, causing Gradient to let out a screech of pain.
Savi pushed Luka out of the way and swiftly making their way to Gradient.
The bigger star grabbed Savi's arm and slammed them into a rock face. Savi got up slowly looking up with goldish-greenish liquid painted their face, they look enraged.
The older star looked at Savi, with a grin. "Stay out of this."
"You tendriled vermain, you need to learn some manners!" A watery figure came into sight.
The star's eye went red and she tried to grab the figure. .
The figure slipped into the ground, gone. The star hissed and watched the ground.
Rick came back into view making a water sword and cutting the tentacle holding Gradient. Gradient screamed as the water burned her skin.
Luka grabbed her figure before she hit the ground.
The older star wrapped a tentacle around Luka, the moonlight healing her injury. "Why do you intervene?" she hissed.
"There's just stuff you do for friends!" Luka used the pure force of their wings and their sharp talons to escape the dark tentacle. The star backed up at the loudness of Luka's yelling.
Savi saw this and yelled,
"Luka I'll yell more, you make a lot of noise with your wings and voice!"
The star backed up and flung her tentacles at everything around her.
Luka spoke to Gradient,
"Do you want me to put you down before I start making a lot of noise?"
Gradient nodded and covered her ears.
Luka quickly put her down into the snow, then flew back up.
"Alright let's do this!"
Luka gave off a shriek like a dragon's rawr, loud and powerful.
The black coating on the star started to crack, revealing a girl underneath.
Luka kept going, shrieking and wings making ringing noises.
The coating broke away, the girl underneath had purple eyes and black hair, on her head was a small crown with a moon symbol.
Luka stopped and fell to the ground, gasping for air. Savi went over the other person, but went over to their sibling first.
"P-please, Ni-nightmare. Don't hurt yourself." Gradient looked at the other star.
Savi looked at Nightmare and Gradient standing over luka protectively, staying quiet.
"I don't want your mercy, Pacifist. I- I want to hurt." The black started to recover Nightmare. "I want to hurt you, I want- I want to kill you!"
"YOU WANT A LOT OF THINGS!" Savi screamed angrily at Nightmare.
Nightmare flinched but grabbed Savi's legs and arms. "As if I would let a Neutral boss me around." Nightmare began to swing them around like a rag doll.
"I WAS JUST LIKE YOU, FULL OF HATE AND WANTING TO MURDER EVERYTHING BECAUSE I COULD!!"
Nightmare stopped and held Savi in front of her. "You were never like me. And for you to think that you can 'help' me is as much of a joke as this pointless world."
"I know you can be helped, you just need to be reasonable and think about it...but of course sometimes you just don't care for other's words and input, I never did ether..."
"If I didn't care, why would I have stopped slamming you around to talk? If I didn't care, why haven't I just ripped you in half?" Nightmare pointed out.
"Because you thought about it, you are capable of listening, capable of being at least being neutral..."
Nightmare gave a small laugh. "You think I have a choice? I am and will always be a genocide, I can't change it. Just like you're little friend can't kill, I can't spare." Nightmare hissed, her eye an indigo color.
Luka looked up at their sibling, trying to get up,
"Gradient...what's happening?" they said weakly.
"Savi is talking with Nightmare, since Savi was once a Genocide there is a low chance Nightmare will in fact kill them." Gradient started to heal Luka. She looked over at Savi and Nightmare. "A genocide can't kill another genocide, but Savi is neutral now... " Gradient sighed and got her thoughts in order. "She won't kill them. If she was going to she would have already."
"What do you mean?" Luka looked at Gradient.
"Nightmare hates killing, so she does it quickly. Her swinging Savi around, she'll only do that when she really doesn't want to kill the one she has. Nightmare is the second strongest genocide star, she could easily rip us to shreds." Gradient looked at Luka.
"And yet, you're sparing me, well for the time being at least..."
Luka stared at the conversation, scared, but proud of their sibling to at least try to help Nightmare, or at least talk them self of being killed...
"I just feel like I should still feel worried...I don't know how much longer this can last..." Luka weakly got up, but fell back into the snow.
Gradient stayed next to them, letting them feed off of her energy in order to heal.
"Only because you are also a genocide." Nightmare hissed.
"Indeed, unfortunately...war for power and killing just because I could, believe that if I let anyone live, no I just couldn't let anyone live..."
"What you did out of a lust for power, I did in fear. You think I was always like this?"
"No, just like I wasn't either, we are morphed into it out of powerful emotions that control us, may it be fear, anger, or lust."
"Not always, most of us are victims. Controlled or tortured into madness. Corrupted in a chance to flee, or a lab rat turned against its owner. So, are you still going to keep me from that pacifist?" Nightmare looked at Gradient.
Savi sighed not knowing what to say, but Luka got up, full of strength and courage, yet head held low. Nightmare didn't attack Luka seeing no threat or challenge. They looked to Savi then to Gradient,
"What should we do?" they whispered to Gradient.
"Once daytime comes, Nightmare should leave. She's after me because I am in her territory now, the night belongs to Genocide." Gradient whispered back.
"How long we got?" Luka then whispered.
"If I go to sleep, Nightmare won't attack. It is dishonorable to attack a sleeping opponent." Gradient let out a yawn, Luka using up most of her energy.
"Oh um...do you need uh warmth or you alright?" Luka cocked their head to the side. Gradient curled in the snow and her eyes dimmed as she went to sleep.
Nightmare saw this and let go of Savi.
Savi landed with a soft thump then quickly and quietly went over to Luka, hugging them. Nightmare saw the siblings and looked away, as if it had reopened an old wound.
Luka, eyes watering, clung to Savi as if they were their life support and blacked out in Savi's arms. Savi held them and slowly lowered, with Luka in their arms, cradling them.
Nightmare looked at the ground and realized that she was crying. She shook her head to try and stop.
Savi looked over to Nightmare then spoke in a hushed tone,
"If it didn't seem like it already Luka is very near and dear to my soul, they are the reason I am not going down the bloody path I was once going down, and it seems you may have lost someone as have I, my friend." Savi paused
Nightmare looked at Savi with a shocked and hurting expression, her tentacles lowered to the snow as her tears rolled down her face.
"I lost a 'father', they were great, pure and loved, as was my 'mother, they..." Savi started tearing up, "I killed them...out of anger and lust for power, I burned their souls to dust..."
"My sister..." The black disappeared from Nightmare. "I... I ripped her into pieces..." Light blue tears rolled down Nightmare's face.
Savi looked down at Luka,
"I wasn't able to hurt my little feather, my sibling, I started a war killing everything and everyone that got in my way or stood against me, even if they were innocent, yet I could never kill Luka...I could hurt them, but never kill...they never gave up on me, even when I killed everyone around them that cared for them...I was too weak to kill someone like that...I just couldn't..."
"I was blinded by the humans and my sister tried to help, but I ended up killing her with the humans."
"Life is unfair, the world now punishes us for things we were forced to do or too blinded to see what we were doing wrong..."
"I- I have to go." Nightmare said before running off.
Savi looked to where Nightmare had ran off to and spoke,
"Goodbye friend, may life be fair to you..."
Savi looks over to Gradient to see if she was okay. She was still sleeping, the snow flaking on her face.
Savi chuckled a little and wiped the goldish-greenish tears on their face, looked at their predicament. The fact they literally had a real talk with chick named Nightmare, had a new friend that is causally sleeping in the snow, and saw that Luka got a new ability, life is weird, but interesting.
Grow-Sava came out of the shadows,
"I may not like you, but I'll give some of my respect for what you said back there." They lightly bowed and smiled.
"Thank you Grow-Sava, I have always respected you, my old friend..." Savi lowed their head and turned to Luka.
Grow-Sava lightly picks Gradient up, while Savi picks up Luka. They all walked to Luka's soul grounds.
"Where do you want me to put her?" Grow-Sava asked in a hushed tone.
"On my old bunk i guess... " Savi spoke quietly setting Luka down softly.
"You can go back to your soul grounds, I will just charge with Luka." Savi sat on the bunk, not really needing sleep, they laid down using Luka's wings to gain warmth and closed their yellow, green eyes, and dreaming of still having wings again.
Chapter 3: Pacifist Day
Luka blinked and slowly got up as well as Savi,
"I don't see Gradient..." Savi looked over,
"I'll find her..."
Savi looked around they didn't see Gradient anywhere. Their ears twitched as they heard Gradient.
"So how is your first day treating you sis?" A female voice said.
"Welp, it could be better. I found the one I want to protect. Their name is Savi, a Neutral." Gradient's voice answered.
"Neutral? Like Geno?" There was worry in the other's voice.
"No, more like Core." Gradient corrected.
"So...they are coding?" The other asked in confusion.
"Nah, more like Core in the sense of storyline." Gradient explained.
"Oh... are you sure this 'Savi' is a good idea?" The other asked in concern.
"Yeah, they are quite docile."
Savi went to where they heard Gradient. They saw that she was talking with and amulet.
"Well, keep yourself safe too. This is your first time, make sure you don't have to RESET."
"I will Fallacy."
Savi peeked over to Gradient in wonder, curious.
"Gradient you, um...talking to someone?"
Gradient yelped in surprise, but calmed down when she saw it was Savi. "Yeah, my sister."
"Oh, that's good...sorry for scaring you...didn't mean too."
"It's fine, I'm a scaredy cat." Gradient showed Savi the amulet the center was a clearish, and showed a girl with black hair and pink eyes, she had a star birthmark around her right eye.
Savi tilted their head,
"Oh, you're talking to her like how humans talk with the...um, phones was it?"
"Last time I checked humans can't communicate with anything in an anti-void." Fallacy crossed her arms.
"Really? But Core can."
"Core isn't a human, at least not after her timeline collapsed."
"I know the 'phone' thing because of Luka..they have a...human partner...to my dislike.."
Gradient fell out of the tree she was sitting in. "WHAT?!" Her and her sister said in unison. The were much louder than a normal human.
Savi jumped and grabbed their ears at the sudden loudness,
"Yes, I have never met the human, but from what I know Luka 'Loves' them very all their soul..."
"But I thought they were a pacifist." Gradient said as she put the amulet away.
Savi's head once again cocked to the side,
"Luka is a strange one indeed, my sibling likes to run off with them."
"But if he killed the human he wouldn't be a pacifist." Gradient pointed out.
"No, no, they would never hurt anyone..."
"But you said they 'L.O.V.E.' the human. So they killed him to gain a level of violence."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it in that way!" they shook their head quickly.
"Oh, they like the human. That makes more sense."
"Yes...like...I don't agree with it, it's not natural for my kind to like another thing like that..."
"It is strange, wouldn't the human try and kill him. That's what the humans do with us stars." Gradient kicked some snow.
"That is exactly what I said, I said that would turn on them, but I guess this one is different..."
Gradient rubbed her side, as if remembering something that happened. "But, they hurt us."
"From what they told me they have the human they like and another human friend, we can't have human relationships, because of how we reproduce really...we combine a sliver of our soul, to make another not, whatever they do..." Savi seems really bitter towards Luka's feelings.
Gradient walked close to Savi, "Mom, my mom, doesn't have a soul. She and my daddy made me and my sister, but not like humans. I mean made-made."
"Well I can't speak for you, or your mother, but I can speak for my kind, we can't reproduce like that."
"Well, only alphas, like mom can 'reproduce'."
"Our ancestors didn't like the concept of 'only alphas' can reproduce, for we can choose whether or not to have said 'child', you just never know if you'll have multiple or just one."
"Well, with so many things always trying to kill us, only alphas are strong enough to fend for themselves and their kits."
"We don't really have any problems with humans, they aren't really near us for one, and if they find us they ether won't live to tell the tale or they won't find us at all, Luka hates when we hurt human, despises when we kill them, they believe that 'Just because at one point they hunted us for our wings, doesn't mean we should kill them, it will make us just as bad as them since we are so much more powerful compared to them'."
"Well, the humans usually hunt us down, sometimes in fear, some times in a lust for power. After all, it is true that if a star's soul is absorbed the one who absorbed it will gain the star's powers." Gradient said as she was floating on her board.
"The humans wanted our wings, if not the wings our feathers and blood, they feared and saw us as gods apparently."
"You wanna know something weird?"
"Depends, should I know and I if I can know, I'm all ears." All four of Savi's ears went up.
"I can form wings, but I don't know how to fly yet. I never learned. So I use my board." Gradient pointed out.
Savi's ears lowered,
"If I still had my wings I would teach you..."
"I can create a temporary pair for you." Gradient's eyes light up at the thought of creation.
Savi looked at Gradient with stars in their eyes,
"Really, you would do that!" Savi said surprised and looked like you just told them they could have a box of puppies.
"Yeah!" Gradient bit her lower lip and the snow turned black as she formed them into a pair of wings. She went over to Savi's back and was careful to make sure the nerves were correct. She smiled at the pair of black, feathered wings. "Ta-da~ Sorry I can't add colors, though."
Savi started giggling and flapped them gently, waiting for the word that they could go into the air.
"Go on, you can fly." Gradient's back opened up revealing her pair of liquid-like wings.
Savi immediately flew into the air, quick and swift they flew. Like they always had wings, doing flips and twirling until finally they landed with a thump in front of Gradient with a large smile.
Gradient smiled, happy she could help the one she chose to protect.
"Now, Let's teach you to fly!", " I remember teaching Luka when they were a young feather."
"First position yourself as if you're about to run." That also got in that position.
Gradient nodded, her wings instinctively pressed against her back to avoid drag.
"Next spread them as far as they can go, and as flat as they can go." they did the position.
Gradient spread her wings, the tips had drips of black around them. "O-Okay."
"Jog a little then run, in that while flap your wings and don't stop until you're in the air." Savi did the motion and flew into the air easily.
Gradient gulped a bit and started to run, her wings created drag. She tilted them to make the drag go down, creating lift. She felt her feet lift off the ground and started to get nervous. She kept herself in the air, but had her legs pressed against her chest.
"Don't press your legs like that, that's how you get dragged down!" They were flying beside Gradient.
Gradient hesitated, but lowered her legs. "S-sorry."
"You're okay, Luka was the same, now don't worry about, focus on flying." Savi looked like they were ready to not let Gradient hit the ground.
"Okay," Gradient's right eye flared as a large force shot upward, pushing her up. "Okayokayokayokay." She said nervously.
"Yeah, You got it!" Savi cheered, flying higher with Gradient.
Gradient tried to use the air you tilt side to side. "There's this thing that mom does, when she gets to this height."
"Oh? I just know how to defend myself at heights like this."
Gradient took a deep breath and faced the ground, she pressed her wings against her sides, making her shoot down.
"Um, Gradient!" they shot down as well.
Right before Gradient hit the ground she opened her wings up and landed safely. "Oh...my... I DID IT!!" Gradient cheered.
Savi's wings flapped a little before landing,
"Gosh, you young feathers need to stop doing that to me, Luka did that to me because they saw me do it...scared me half to death."
"I did it because mom used it when a human was gonna attack me, she swooped down and hit the human head on." Gradient's eyes light up with glee. "I did it! It was amazing!"
"Oh, well if someone tried that on Luka I would have done the same." Savi said nervously.
Gradient went to Savi and hugged them. "Thank you!"
Savi was surprised at the random affection, but soon accepted it.
"Um no problem at all really."they rubbed the back of their head.
"Let's show Luka!" Gradient's eye flared as she made another burst of air to get lift.
"Oh I saw." Luka came out smiling, and clapping.
Gradient smiled as she landed again, this time landing on her butt. "Okay."
Luka looked over to Savi, Savi had a golden- greenish blush and flinched under Luka's gaze. Luka went over to Savi and put a hand on their shoulders.
"I'm glad you made Gradient happy, but you know what happens if the village sees these wings you have..."
"If they try and hurt Savi..." Gradient's eyes went black. "They're going to have a bad time."
The siblings looked at each other then back at Gradient,
"Well they would have to go through me as well and I am the village leader."
' Gradient's eyes turned back to normal and she smiled. "Yeah, you're alpha."
"Unfortunately by blood, I am...Savi was supposed to be though, they were first born..." Savi cringed a little and their ears, head, and tail went down.
"Well, with us stars the strongest is alpha, so there are fights to determine the leader. My mom is alpha of Pacifist clan."
Savi and Luka looked at each other again,
"We start-" Luka was cut off by Savi.
"I started a war..."
"So has mom, her and Error have been at each other's throats for years."
Savi paused for a bit,
"I there is a lot I want to tell you Gradient, I'm just scared to 'relive' my past, scared of....myself really..." Savi looked a bit broken, but holding on.
"I understand. There are also some things I won't be telling you." Gradient smiled at Savi.
Savi smiled back, their rose a bit at the friendly gesture,
"I just wish everyone was as understanding I guess, but I understand if they still don't trust me though."
Luka smiled and put an arm around their sibling,
"My dear feather, they will, in time, I will guide them to inner peace." Luka smiled and was hugged by their older sibling. They said something unpronounceable and they both smiled and looked back Gradient.
"We can go back to the village, if you would like?"
"I'm fine with it, it is getting close to nightfall." Gradient's wings folded into her back as she went to using her board.
They both smiled, but Luka mischievously smiled, Luka grabbed savi and used their wings to burst into the air at an outstanding speed.
"Luka!" Savi yelled, "Let go!"
Luka smiled, "Okay~" they said in a playful tone and Luka let go, but didn't let them fall for long though.
Gradient's eye went black as she used her board to ram into Luka, catching Savi.
Luka was stunned for a second, but quickly shook it off. Looking at Savi,
"Um...sorry?" they said worriedly.
Gradients eyes turned back. "I-I'm s-sorry. I-I didn't m-mean to..." Gradient put up her hood, ashamed.
Savi looked at Gradient and cocked their head to the side,
"You're okay, you didn't know, I'm pretty sure, instincts right?"
Gradient nodded, keeping her hood over her face.
Luka landed with a soft thump and walked over,
"We should go before dark, not to be rude or anything."
"Y-yeah." Gradient said as she started to walk, not using her board anymore.
Luka's ears, tail, and wings went down, feeling bad for doing what they did. Savi followed as well putting an arm around Luka and rubbing Luka's hair. They arrived back, the towns people were inside, paying no attention to them.
Night came and Gradient teleported to Luka's hut, knowing who was coming.
"I'll stay back a bit, need anything?" Savi asked Luka,
"Yeah, for you to get home safe okay." Savi nodded and walked away, while Luka went inside.
Chapter 4: Genocide Night
Savi walked in the woods, their wings were gone. They soon heard the sound of something in the tree branches overhead.
Savi walked to a large golden tree in the middle of a clearing, sighing and spoke,
"I'm...I'm sorry my keeper...you taught me many things and yet...I chose to drown you out when you knew better...I thought I was better...I thought....I needed power to be a better leader, but Luka had something I didn't...a way with words and...a friendly aura."
A black tentacle slithered down and made a small hole. Another came down and planted a blue glowing flower.
"I just wish that...I could say I-I'm s-sorry..." Savi dropped in front of the golden tree, crying.
"Savi... "The flower whispered, it was a man's voice.
Savi's head flew up, looking around,
"H-hello?" Savi said quickly, trying to wipe the tears from their face. They heard Nightmare coming down from the trees.
"Savi, speak to me."
Savi looked around springing up knowing the voice, they saw Nightmare.
"O-oh it's y-you..." struggling on to cry, also feeling like they're going crazy.
"That's an echo flower..." Nightmare's black coat disappeared. "It speaks for the dead, you can talk to whoever was buried there." She explained.
Savi's eyes widened and finally spoke,
"Nova?"
"Yes, my small feather, it's me."
Savi covered their mouth and stared at the flower not knowing what to think,
"I-I...never thought, that I would speak to you...I-I....I'm so sorry..." Savi said,
"Luka misses you as well as seela, I...I just so sorry..."
"I miss you as well as Luka, my children of sky, Are your wings gone?"
Savi's breath hitched,
"I-I lost my wings...long ago...my keeper..." they stared longingly into the flower.
Nightmare watched Savi and their reactions, and looked away in remorse.
"Luka is scared, as am I, they don't really know how to run the village and is always away, they always seem so lost in the village, and always come to me of all Nora, for advice...and I'm never sure what to tell them..."
"They sometimes ask me what you would do and...If it wasn't for me you would be able to tell them yourself." savi wept softly.
Nightmare went up to Savi and rubbed their back with a tentacle; not comfortable with touching them with her hands.
Savi didn't pay no mind to Nightmare, only focusing on Nova.
"I just wish I can go back and not be so, so, power hungry, believing that the only way to rule is to rule with an iron fist, and not let anyone in my way..." Savi looked broken and torn.
"That doesn't stop you from having friends, my small feather."
Savi inhaled sharply, they didn't really notice Nightmare at first being so close. Nightmare backed away at Savi's reaction.
"Oh..um yes...I can consider them a friend, if they'll allow that..." Savi said softly.
Nightmare blushed dark indigo. "U-uh...s-sure."
Savi smiled again,
"Thank you friend." They looked at the flower again. Unfortunately for Nightmare that is all she got out of the conversation, here and there was english, but most of it was their native language.
