Journey to Understanding Part 2
Chapter 1: Margo meets Korra
Margo skipped along the path that led out into the woods. She glanced behind her, seeing the domes of the houses in the village behind her. Her trusty companion, Skitty followed her. Margo was seven, therefore she was too young to have a Pokémon. But this one lived with her, and she hoped that when she was ten that it would join her on a Pokémon journey. Skitty wagged it's tail as it scampered beside Margo.
"I love walking in forests!!!" She cheered. "It's so full of life!"
Skitty purred in agreement.
Margo smiled and continued walking through the forests. Soon enough, she heard the roaring of battle. She paused. "What's that?"
Skitty stopped too and sniffed the air. She then darted off in the direction from which the explosion sounded. Margo followed a bit more slowly. "Skitty, where are you going?"
Margo stopped on a cliff side, a large boulder jutting out below her. Skitty was nowhere to be seen. She nervously looked around the small clearing below her. "Skitty? Where are you?"
She looked up to see a bright ball of energy fire towards her. Her eyes widened as she covered her face with her hands.
Suddenly, something leaped in front of her at the last moment and blocked the attack with a giant spoon. Margo's hair was flown backwards by the impact. She looked up to see a Pokemon she had never seen before.
It turned and narrowed its glowing eyes at her. She gave it a smile, her eyes shining at the sight of this mysterious Pokémon. Before she could thank the Pokemon, something alien-like kicked it into a boulder, dust flying everywhere . Margo quickly ran and hid behind a bush, peeking out of the branches.
She saw the alien-like Pokemon stroll up to the other one. "Well, Korra. It's good to see that even after this time, you're still distracted by saving these humans. Even after all that Team Rocket did to you."
The other Pokemon, named Korra, stood up, using the spoon as a support. "As if you would know anything about what I choose to do, Deoxys."
"I know more about you than you think. But I suppose that doesn't matter to you or me, does it?" Deoxys tilted his head to the side.
The other Pokemon frowned, running towards Deoxys, faster than Margo's eyes could follow. She watched as the two Pokemon battled for a while, nervously realizing that she hadn't seen Skitty.
She tensed as she heard an explosion. She looked back at the fight to see the Deoxys creature flying away. The other Pokemon was on the ground, glaring at it. That's when Margo realized it looked seriously hurt. She carefully crept out of the bushes, the Pokemon hearing this and glaring at her.
Suddenly, Skitty ran out of some bushes that circled the clearing with the other Pokemon. Margo gasped as she saw Skitty's hurt paw. The other Pokemon gently picked it up by its scruff.
"Hey!" Margo yelled, skidding down the small cliff face and down into the clearing. She ran over to the Pokemon as it glanced at her, then back to the Skitty.
"I'm not going to hurt it. I'm going to heal its paw," 'Korra' sighed, then put her paw on Skitty's. A green light began to emit from her paw. A few moments passed, and the Pokemon put Skitty on the ground. Skitty pranced around, purring. She stopped in front of the Pokemon and seemingly smiled up at it.
"Umm... Who are you supposed to be? I've never heard of a Pokemon that could talk," Margo commented softly.
Korra sighed and started to walk away. The Skitty trotted beside her, waving her tail for Margo to follow.
Korra stopped and looked down at Skitty. "No, you two aren't going to follow me."
"Why not?" Margo tilted her head to the side.
"Because I said so."
Skitty jumped into Margo's arms. "Okay... But you seem hurt after the battle with that 'Deoxys' guy or whatever he's called."
"His name is Deoxys, yes. But I healed you're Skitty, so I'll be fine," Korra turned and flew away before Margo could object. Margo sighed and trailed back home. She kept thinking of the stories that her orphan caretaker had told her. Was that the Pokemon from the story...? And if so, why didn't it attack me?
~
Margo quickly scurried out of the orphanage with Skitty late that night. She wanted to prove whether the Pokemon she had seen earlier was from the story. She walked into the forest, jumping at every sound.
Her Skitty whimpered and stayed close to Margo.
"It's okay, Skitty. I mean, the Pokemon in this forest are kind and nice."
There was laughter and the two yelped.
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea..." Margo said quietly, terrified. She began to turn around but there was a person covered in black blocking her way. The person was female and had large tentacles coming from her back.( this is one of my characters)
"Leaving so soon?" She hissed, her light blue eye gleamed in the moonlight.
"U-umm... I don't want any trouble..."
The girl laughed. "Don't worry, I just came to get my 'take out'."
"That doesn't seem very friendly..." Margo whimpered as Skitty hissed.
The girl glared at Skitty and grabbed it with one of her tentacles. "I wasn't expecting an appetizer." She grinned as she lifted the Skitty above her head.
"Put her down!" Margo yelled, kicking the girl in the shin. The girl also picked up Margo and squeezed her, making some of her ribs crack.
"I really shouldn't be playing with my food..."
"I'm not your food you psycho!" Margo squirmed, her arms flailing.
The girl squeezed tighter. "Thanks for the compliment." She grinned as she looked at the Skitty. The girl opened her mouth, revealing large, sharp teeth.
"I SAID PUT US DOWN!!!" Margo yelled, lifting back her foot and kicking the girl in the mouth.
The girl's jaw swung to the side, but it did snap back. "As if you would make me."
"Maybe she can't, but I will." Margo looked over to see Korra. She reached out her paw, her eyes glowing as she made the tentacles drop Margo and Skitty.
The girl's face was demonic. "THAT IS MY MEAL!!" She hissed.
"Meal?" Margo asked as she grabbed Skitty and hid behind Korra.
"She was planning to eat you two," Korra said as a spoon appeared in her paws. "Go find yourself another meal, these two are mine."
The girl seemed to get the message and backed down. She then went away.
"T-thanks for that..." Margo said quietly, patting Skitty on the head. "Do you know who that was? And why she was going to try to kill us?"
"That was Nightmare, and she was hunting. It is night time, they always hunt at night." Korra crossed her arms, her spoon disappearing.
"They do?" Margo asked in confusion.
"Yeah, they have forever," Korra said. "Now what are you doing out here in the forest all by yourself?"
"Oh... Well, there's a tale in my village that people disappeared at night. Something to do with Mewtwos I think. I was looking for you to see if you were one of them. Are you?"
"No, whenever people disappear it usually is the Genocides. But, yes, I'm a Mewtwo. Though you probably wouldn't care."
A scream rang out through the forest. Then there was silence, followed by the sound of cracking bones.
"Eww..." Margo cringed.
"Guess Nightmare found her meal after all..." Korra frowned.
"That's sad..."
"Not really... Well, yeah."
"W-what do you mean?"
"People are warned to stay away, but they don't listen. They know coming here means death."
"Then if you don't seem to care, why did you save me?"
"Because you're a kid, and don't know any better," Korra muttered. "And I never said I didn't care."
"I know plenty of things!" Margo crossed her arms, her eyes full of anger.
"Not enough to make you come into this forest. So get lost, before you get attacked again," Korra said sternly.
"Wait, so you aren't the one attacking people?"
"No. Well, maybe once, but that's only in defense."
"So is it them?"
"Mostly, yes, it is the genocides."
"Okay... Thanks for saving me..."
She then turned around and left the legendary Pokemon.
~
Margo stepped up onto the platform in the middle of the village. Skitty sat below her, washing her paws.
"Hey, everyone," Margo called out.
The townsfolk stopped what they were doing and looked at her.
"I'm pretty sure that you're all aware of the tales of the forest. Well, I went out into the forest and learned that Mewtwos aren't the ones attacking people."
The crowd muttered to each other.
"I know you may not believe me, but it's true!"
"As if," I kid replied. "You have no proof. And you're too childish to go out in the forest alone."
"I'm not lying! I'm telling the truth! And last time I checked, you have no proof it's the Mewtwos either!"
The boy looked away, knowing Margo had won their little argument.
"Then who is?" A baker asked with a chuckle.
"Some girls that aren't human..."
"Witches?!?" A man yelled.
"Umm... I guess?"
"We should burn them out!" A blacksmith yelled.
"Devils!" Another growled.
The crowd yelled and grew angry, wanting to kill the genocide stars. They grabbed anything they could use as a weapon. They were beyond logic.
"Wait, there's no need to hurt them!" Margo tried to change their minds, but it was too late.
