Prologue

"We're here!!" The girl spoke calmly, her long red hair braided neatly down her back, yet the excitement visible on her face was as clear as day. The boy with scars marring his face turned to look at his sister, confusion evident on his face as she stared at an unassuming brick wall.

"Gem, are your eyes... okay?" Sausage asked, slight worry lacing his words. "'Cause, I'm pretty sure that's a wall..."

A burst of cackling laughter was heard from beside him and Gem rolled her eyes. The noise came from their brother, who was standing right beside the two. Red-tinted goggles were nestled into his messy, red hair, various tufts hanging astray.

"My eyes are fine, Sausage. We're supposed to walk through the wall."

Sausage's eyes widened as Gem nodded her head to her twin. Fwhip's laughter faded out and determination flashed in his eyes as he took that as a signal to run at the wall. Instead of slamming full force into an unmovable object and injuring himself, however, his body phased into it and disappeared in moments.

"What... WHAT?!" Sausage exclaimed. From his side, a hand clamped over his mouth and muffled his surprised noises. It was Gem's.

"Shhh! Quiet!" Gem removed her fingers and placed her fingers to her lips, smiling as Sausage nodded. Before he could comprehend what was happening, his sister had grabbed his wrist in an iron grip and dragged him through the wall. He stumbled as his brain caught up with the unexpected movements.

His skin prickled as he passed through something that wasn't there, a ghostly chill passing through him before it faded. His eyes fluttered open as bright lights cascaded on his face. He gasped, shocked by what he saw on the other side of a seemingly solid object.

The first thing he noticed was the train - a jet black, yet shiny, elongated train. The place was packed with families saying goodbye to their children and children to siblings. Everything was well lit, not an inch of darkness falling over them. It felt like he was in a whole new world, and he knew that that feeling wouldn't be going away any time soon.

"What took you so long?" Fwhip pouted. Sausage jumped, surprised at the sudden voice in his ear. Where did he come from?

"Sorry about that..." Sausage laughed nervously. He was still admiring the station. The grand station dwarfed him, making him feel like an ant in comparison to looming arches and bustling crowds.

"Come on! We need to get on the train!" Gem said urgently as she pushed the two boys closer.

"Sis, Pearl's waiting for us in the second-year carriage!" Fwhip almost shouted. Gem nodded and turned to her younger brother.

"Are you okay with being on a carriage without us?" She asked, concerned for her brother having to go on without knowing anyone.

"Of course, I am, Gem! I'm a big boy now!" Sausage puffed out his chest in confidence.

"Says the kid who can't even open a jar of pickles!" Fwhip butted in.

"THAT WAS ONE TIME FWHIP!"

"All right, stop arguing, we have to go," Gem said laughing lightly. She took Fwhip's wrist and pulled him to the second-year carriage, calling out over her shoulder. "Take care, Sausage!"

"Say hi to Pearl for me!"

Silence then filled the space from where his siblings had just stood. Sausage, now left alone to do his own things, slipped over to the nearest cabin.

He pushed the door open, almost rusty hinges creaking as a boy seated near the window was revealed.

Dusty blonde hair covered a very focused expression. The boy's attention was fixed on his nails, covering one with (what Sausage assumed was) paint. He hadn't noticed the newcomer.

Only when Sausage sat down opposite of the stranger was he finally acknowledged.

"Oh! Hello there!" The boy set down his brush and smiled cheerfully. "My name's Joey. Joey Graceffa." He stood up and extended his hand out for Sausage... elegantly? His skin was light, yet grainy and wheat-like, compared to Sausage's healthy tan. His eyes, however, were more noticeable. Bright, jaded green stood out against his features and added a certain charm to his appearance.

"Hi! I'm Sausage, Sausage Wither!" Sausage told him, excitedly intertwining their hands and shaking them - He may have done it a bit too hard, though, as he saw Joey's face strain for a second.

Joey went back to his seat and continued painting the nails of his left hand, his right seemingly untouched.

After a while, the two heard a booming thud from beside them. The door opened pretty widely and a girl with short, dark and slightly dishevelled hair appeared in front of them. Her mushroom hat was tilted on top of her head, looking weighted enough to tip over and crash to the floor. Her chest heaved up and down, followed by the sounds of her heavy breathing.

After a moment of the girl just standing in the doorway and the boys just staring at her, Sausage decided to speak up.

"Uhm... miss? Are you okay?" He questioned. The girl blinked at him, just realizing the situation.

"Oh! Umm- I'm sorry. I just thought I was late, that's all." The girl smiled awkwardly as she moved her hand to the back of her neck.

"My name's Shelby by the way! Shelby Overgrown. But you can call me Shrub!" Sausage offered the seat next to him with a gesture of his hand, Shubble gladly took it.

"Are you painting your nails with actual paint?!" Shrub suddenly squealed dramatically. Joey jumped and let out a small yelp.

"Uh, yeah?" He replied. Confusion laced his voice and Shrub shook her head.

"Here, I have nail varnish of that exact colour." She grabbed something from her bag and gave it to Joey. It was a red heart-shaped bottle that contained red nail varnish inside. Joey thanked her and immediately started putting it on his other nails. Shrub giggled.

"See! It's so much better than actual paint!"

"It is! Wow!"

"Oh! We're gonna be there soon!" Sausage spoke up, glancing out the window and seeing a large castle stretching towards the sky and silhouetted against the dark night sky. The other two didn't notice when he moved to the window.

"Oh! I just noticed. You guys like- aren't in your robes. You should probably put them on." Joey exclaimed, the statement having the two realize that Joey had been wearing his robes since the beginning, the robes that neither the scarred boy nor the mushroom girl had on.

"Fuck!" the two boys stared, faces shocked at the seemingly innocent lass. "Excuse me for a bit." the girl immediately rushed out of the room with her suitcase- they'll probably see each other again, right?

"Can I change here?" After a moment of silence and visible confusion, Sausage decided to speak up.

"Sure, go ahead." Joey nonchalantly shrugged.

Sausage started to change, and Joey turned around, using the nail polish that Shrub gave him to paint his nails with a beautiful lustrous red colour. He viewed his work from afar, twisting his hand around to observe his polished job. Sausage had finally stopped changing and the two started to chat while waiting for Shrub, to which she returned to not long after. It only took another 20 minutes before the train decided to stop, screeching to a halt. The three jolted forward, stumbling at the sudden motion.

When they had regained their footing, laughing at the incident, they exited their cabin.

After being jostled out of the train car and rowed across an expansive lake, Sausage found himself amid a dining hall filled with students and teachers adorned in robes. He and the other first-years gathered nervously in the centre of the room, gazing up at Headmaster Xisumavoid. The older students' eyes pierced into the back of every first-year, curious to see who would join which house.

Gleaming light from above caught Sausage's eye. His gaze wandered upwards as he took in a vast ceiling displaying images of the night sky, littered with floating candles that glowed like stars.

His attention snapped back to the front of the room as professor Xisumavoid began to explain the rules. His words rang out clearly across the dining hall as he mentioned forbidden areas, new teachers and more. After what felt like hours to Sausage, the Professor sat down, followed by Professor Philza standing up, holding a hat in his hand.

"Now that that's all over..." He held up what looked like a scroll. "Now when I call your name, you shall come forth, and I will place the Sorting Hat on your head."

Sausage shared a look with Joey. The blonde seemed nervous, his eyes flicking about the room and his fingers twiddling.

"Jimmy Coral." Professor Phil exclaimed, and a boy with golden blonde hair took a shaky breath and walked to the chair at a slow pace. He was scared. The hat was placed on his head once he took a seat, and it only took a second for the Hat to yell out.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

The boy smiled happily, and a round of applause and cheers erupted from the Hufflepuff table. He made his way and sat next to a boy with brown hair and a green stripe highlighted on his fringe.

"Katherine Elizabeth!" Professor Philza's voice called out again, and this time, Sausage could hear her muttering to herself.

"Breathe, it's going to be okay," she whispered to herself, quickly making her way to the chair.

Again, it took a mere second for the hat to yell out;

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

He saw her release a breath and start walking to the Hufflepuff table, cheerfully shaking hands with some older years and other first years that joined the house once she reached it. Once again, after the house calmed down, Professor Philza spoke once again. Sausage was getting exhausted with this routine. It went on and on, he didn't recognise any of the names that sounded the extensive hall, so he zoned out - 'till he heard a familiar person's name being shouted to come forward.

"Joey Graceffa!"

Joey strode towards the chair, no longer nervous. He stood, back straight, plopping right onto the chair with elegance. He smiled as the hat was settled onto his head.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Joey seemed satisfied, and Sausage watched with a sad grin as the other happily ran to the table now booming with noise. He seemed to fit in well with them. He sighed, Waiting impatiently for his turn.

"Shelby Overgrown!"

Shelby jumped up, falling onto the chair eagerly. She wanted to get this done and over with quickly, or so Sausage had assumed. He didn't know her too well.

The hat was placed on her head, immediately sorting her.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

The same routine again and again and Sausage grew annoyed quicker than before. He almost fell asleep standing up. After what felt like an eternity, his name was finally called out.

"Sausage Wither!"

Nervous anticipation spread through his veins like poison. He immediately made his way to the sorting hat, eyes fixated on where it rested on Professor Philza's arm. It stared at him back, seemingly judging the way he walked, spoke, and acted. As clumsy as Sausage was, he almost tripped making his way up the raised floor. The chair looked far in the distance despite it being only a metre or two away. Nervous. He was nervous, yet excited. He knew his siblings were watching him. He knew Pearl was watching him. He sighed. Finally, he reached the chair.

He flinched.

The hat started talking. He tried to look up, trying to see where the mouth was (this was the closest and most interested he had been with the hat) and failed. He looked forward, immediately spotting his older siblings. Fwhip somehow still managed to wear goggles that were placed on top of his head like a magnet and Gem always had her hair in braids. She should get a haircut. Sausage thought. He decided to listen to the talking hat.

Hmm...A muggleborn adopted into a wizarding family? Interesting, interesting... You have a deep sense of loyalty to you, little boy.... Your love for your family and the lengths you'd go to protect them is no joke. Quite a Hufflepuff trait! But your bravery and strength are nothing to bat on... No matter the challenges you'll face, and the dangers you'll encounter, you would still fight them head-on. Now that is the symbol of...'

The hat's voice carried through the room and Sausage swore his heart skipped several beats. "GRYFFINDOR!"

Sausage walked to the Gryffindor table, celebrating with his family. His brother swooped to the side to make space for Sausage to sit down.

"Yeahh! I knew you'd end up in Gryffindor! You've always had that bravery in you, buddy," Fwhip whooped as he patted his back.

"Thanks, Fwhip!" Sausage beamed.

The ceremony went on until the last child was sorted. The new students introduced themselves and the older ones recounted memories of their younger years.

Clink!

A sound chimed from the professor's goblet, echoing around the hall. The room calmed down, their attention shifting from lively tables to the imposing man standing at the top of the podium.

"Your attention, please." Mr. Minecraft's voice echoed across the silent hall. He then sat down as the headmaster stood up. "May the feast begin!" Headmaster Void's voice boomed in comparison to the professor's.

And with a flick of his wand, food of all types mystically appeared on the tables. The newcomers stared in awe at the assortment of steaming roasts and delectable dishes. Excitement buzzed through the air. The professors started to dig in and the students followed suit.

The students enjoyed their meals, and after eating, some of the students started to move to different tables to socialize with their friends from the houses.

A glimpse of an older girl drew Sausage's eye and she stood from her seat. It was his cousin, Pearl. She walked to the Slytherin table to chat with a girl who looked around her age, with eye-catching pink hair adorning her head.

"Whatcha looking at, Saus?" His sister popped up from behind, seemingly having left her table to join theirs.

"O-oh! I was just wondering where Pearl went off to." From Sausage's glances at the Slytherin table, Gem's eyes squint in query.

"Ahh! It's Joel and Lizzie." Gem smiled as she realized who the girl her cousin was talking to was. "Oh! You should meet them; it would be good to branch off and be friends with the different houses."

Gem grabbed Sausage's hand and began to pull him along. Fwhip, still munching on some leftover biscuits, followed from behind, not really paying attention. Sausage noticed some people from other houses taking their seats, and his gaze moved back to the Slytherin table, somehow having more people from different houses than their own.

"Gem! Sausage! Fwhip!" Pearl yelled excitedly once she saw her cousins walk towards their table. Pearl slid to the side so the trio could sit down.

From across the table, Sausage saw the pink-haired girl, her blue eyes crystal clear up close. She smiled softly at the new arrivals, and he wondered how the girl even got sorted to Slytherin. She looked nice. His gaze shifted to the table, only to see a hand clasped against the Pinkette's.

The hand was from the boy to her right. He had normal brown hair but with odd streaks of green, matching his eyes. They stared lovingly at the Slytherin and the feelings seemed to be reciprocated. The two seemed to be a couple.

He barely acknowledged the newcomers, having already expected to know them. The brunette met the younger's gaze, and they shared a warm smile each before the elder's eyes moved back to his lover's.

Sausage's gaze then moved to the boy on the girl's left, bright cyan hair adorned cold pale skin, eyes as blue as the deep sea. He seemed as cold as how he looked and he gave off vibes that made Sausage's skin crawl. He wondered why the boy wasn't in Slytherin instead. He quickly moved his eyes towards the boy next to him. His blonde locks covered his freckled face, muddy eyes shone as bright as the grin stretching across his face. He also looked nice, and he wished to befriend him immediately. They looked to be in Sausage's year. His thoughts came to a quick halt as his cousin spoke up.

"Lizzie, Joel, Scott, meet my cousins!"

"We already know Gem and Fwhip, Pearl." Scott said in a stand-offish way. An elbow nudged him from the side.

"Be nice." Lizzie hissed to the cyan haired boy and Scott rolled his eyes in response.

"I have a question..." Jimmy spoke up, looking at the youngest of the Wither siblings. Sausage glanced at him and gave Jimmy a questioning look. "Why doesn't he look like you?"

"He's adopted" Gem stated simply and ruffled her youngest brother's hair. It was chocolate brown, and his fringe pricked his eyes as she messed it up. He hit her lightly and tried to fix it. Once he gave up, he decided to answer the question himself.

"I used to be a muggle orphan!" He glanced around, noticing Scott giving him a dirty look and edged closer to Gem. "Then Miss Wither found me!" He smiled; the memory was faulty in his mind. Jimmy stared at him in shock.

"So... You're a mudblood, then?" He muttered out loud and a gasp erupted from their area of the table. Sausage stared at him; confusion laced his face. Scott snickered.

"You're right, Jim!" Scott smiled sweetly at the blonde, then stared Sausage down like a hunter to its prey. Sausage shifted in his seat uncomfortably and glanced towards Gem for a split second before Scott spoke once more. "He is a filthy mudblood. Apologies, Ms. Coral, Ms. Moon, but we don't want to be near such filth. Let's go, Jimmy." The twins tried to retaliate but Scott had managed to drag Jimmy away with him, patting and praising the younger. Lizzie sighed.

"I'm so sorry for my brother." She apologised, looking pitiful at the youngest of the Wither siblings. Sausage shrugged. He paid no attention to what Lizzie was saying and stared at where Jimmy once sat. Filthy. "He was the cracked, damaged egg."

"And Pearl, you already know how Scott is..." Joel spoke up for the first time since the sibling's arrival. "We really do apologize for ruining your first day, Sausage." he sighed.

"We should go. Maybe next time, Liz." Pearl sighed and smiled sadly at Lizzie and Joel, grabbing Sausage's wrist. Lizzie nodded in understanding and turned to talk to Joel, their hands still intertwined.

"But Pearl-" Fwhip tried to interject but Pearl shot him a glare, shaking her head. He rolled his eyes as he and Gem hesitantly left the table with them.

"Don't mind them, Sausage. They're just a bunch of pricks!" Fwhip huffed out in frustration. Gem patted her twin's back to calm him down.

"It's ok, Fwhip! I don't even know what mudblood means." Sausage smiled at his older siblings to cheer them up. And it's not like he was lying, he really didn't know what mudblood meant.

The trio gasped at the Sausage.

"Don't say that! It's a bad word." Gem reprimanded him. Gem huffed and walked forwards, away from her brothers, still mad at the previous incident.

"It's a bad word for muggles," Fwhip whispered in his ears. "Posh, rich, purebloods like Rivendell over there absolutely despise muggles so..." Oh. No wonder the cyan head gave him the stink eye. The blonde, however, seemed genuinely confused, though.

The quartet decided to move on from the previous event and decided to just chat at the Gryffindor table. This went on for a bit until Headmaster Xisuma stood up and announced that the feast was over. The three Gryffindors said their goodbyes to the Ravenclaw and made their way toward the heads.

"Come on, Grian and Puffy are over there!" Pearl points to the Gryffindor Head Boy and Head Girl. Sausage has only known Grian for a bit, he knows he's Pearl's reckless older brother and he knows he's an amazing quidditch seeker. Who knew he was actually qualified enough to be Gryffindor Head Boy?

They followed the duo like a herd. First years were at the front, listening to the Head Boy and Head Girl give them information about the common room and dormitories.

Sausage was baffled, astounded even. The stairs moved slowly, and the paintings could talk and move. Though as beautiful the scenery was, those words from earlier still hovered in his mind. Filthy Mudblood. He knew they weren't good; the way Jimmy and Scott had uttered those words made it seem so, but what was so wrong with being a... Mudblood?

He shook the thoughts away as they made their way up to the common room, reciting the password and the painting swung open. They walked in, perplexed by what they saw. The common room was big but the rules were a bore. Fwhip caught Sausage sitting on the sofa and dragged him to their dorms.

"Since we're brothers, we can share a dorm." He mentioned, and Sausage's face lit up.

"Really!?"

Fwhip nodded, "Yeah! The rules have changed ever since the previous Headmaster, Captain Sparklez defeated the Great Dark Lord of Butter, Sky Minecraft! The school's striving to be a better place for young witches and wizards to learn magic." He grabbed Sausage's wrist, and once again, he was dragged to a whole new area. Much like the common room, the dorm was gigantic. He felt like he was in a whole new world.

The place was unlike his bedroom in the Wither House, more spacious and grandeur. Beds lined across the walls with each bed having a chest in front of it.

Fwhip walked to his bed and lay down. Sausage took the empty bed beside him after yawning. He tucked himself into bed and let the world of dreams encase him in images of wondrous things. He let a smile calmly edge its way onto his face as he fell into a deep slumber.

These next few years are going to be great!
