Q&A pt.1
Hey bubs!!
It's Jtneet here. Hope you all are doing well.
So I got a lot of questions on my personal chats as well as in the comments so I just decided to do a proper Q&A answering a few commonly asked questions.
Q1. What inspired me to write Strip You Bare?
Honestly, if anyone has been following me since earlier, you all might know I was writing my first book which was called beating hearts. I was new to writing and it was a very fluffy book with almost no mentions of sex. LOL ( can you believe there was only one cute kiss till chap 20. Absolutely no smut at all.) But I took down the book because I did not find the book going in the right direction.
That was during 2019 if I am not wrong. But then I wanted to write a dark romance book. It was difficult to come up with the idea but I came up with the twisted sugar baby and daddy thing.
What inspired me to write the book was obviously Jungkook. To be honest I did not have much idea about how I wanted to write the book, I just wanted it to be the greatest non-toxic relationship. It's very rare that we see really good non toxic relationships nowadays. And I wanted to make one.
I did have ideas of making it different, but it seemed a bit repetitive with respect to all the books that were already present with the same topic
Honestly the book has had a lot of issues tbh. It was going all smooth till it was taken down because of a few ppl reporting it. When I went to republish it, I found many loopholes in the book so I decided to change a few chapters keeping the book story the same.
My real inspiration was to write a great love story with two imperfect individuals trying to fill each other.
I am not really a fan of couples between which one is completely perfect and the other one is helped healing. Because to be honest no one is perfect and other than that for me a relationship is when two individuals grow and get healed together and not just one healing the other.
Better half really means completing each other so I wanted both of them to be imperfect and help each other grow. They both have flaws, but they complement each other perfectly well.
The best part is that they don't judge each other on the basis of their past. That is one sign of a healthy relationship for me. One needs to have transparency there.
Strip You bare doesn't only mean stripping from the clothes, it also means stripping from the insecurities, the past hurdles and the doubts that people have in themselves.
Q2. How did I write the characters?
Jungkook:
I initially wanted to show him a rude, egoistic and immensely arrogant stone hearted CEO, but I decided to go a bit lighter on it. He is still all of those but to a lesser extent.
I wanted him to be a true alpha hero. For me the true definition of an alpha man is someone who is soft and gentle but who also knows how to handle his anger. And also someone who knows how to show his anger and rage as and how required.
When I wrote the first chapter, many ppl felt he was a fuckboy, which is true. He had many flings in the past but he isn't a red flag if u see. When he had sex in the first chapter he made it clear in a nice way to the lady that he wasn't interested in anything more. I feel that just because he has had sex with women in the past, that doesn't mean he can not be a good and loyal person. He was that way because he never felt the way of belonging towards any woman until Y/n.
When with Y/n I tried to make him a bit distant yet still trying to seduce her at first, but then it's also true that Y/n had something in her that always made him go soft for her. That's the only way he knew that she wasn't like other girls.
But of course he isn't perfect. His character has many shades.
He still holds the pride of being the best, but I also feel that comes from a lot of confidence that he has built in himself after years of business.
He is short tempered and loses his cool often but mostly it's when there is something regarding Y/n or his family. Other times he likes to be in control and keep his calm.
Of Course he isn't a sunshine boy kind of male character. He has had a very bad past with his mother and then Kaya as well due to which he has commitment issues. And with these commitment issues he is also scared because there hasn't really been any successful relationship that he was in. He had his dad and sister and a few great friends but then again he was never with them for a long time since he had to go to London. So I feel for him to be committed to one person was also a big challenge. But I also wanted to write a male character who wasn't a person to shy away from accepting what he wanted.
I also wanted to make him a flirty character in the beginning but I decided to go against it, because he isn't really one of those people who would joke around. He is the man who's determined and not confused with what he wants. He sees dominance as his power, and for me dominance isn't something like forcing a woman to do things, it's also guiding them and supporting them.
In short, I wanted him to be a green flag from the beginning but his character has a lot of cracks that need to be fulfilled, but you see he is still beautiful. Because broken things are beautiful.
I hope I did at least a quarter of what I wanted to show him as.
For Y/n:
I wanted her to be a bratty, fierce, ready to fight kinda woman but then I felt it does look hot to write a character like that but it's also true that maybe she wouldn't have complemented Jungkook in a good way.
Later I made Y/n to a woman who was soft yet determined. As I have already depicted her, just because she is soft doesn't mean she doesn't have a voice of her own. I feel being quiet and soft and yet putting forth your own point of view without disrespecting anyone or shouting is also a very good feature that very few people are able to portray.
I know many people find her non opinionated and weak, but if you were to ask me I do feel Y/n is the best character between Sohee, Gracia and her. There isn't much told about her character but you will find her how she's built better in chaps coming up.
Also as I started writing about her, I started relating her to myself. She goes through anxiety, which I go through myself and hence I can relate to her character very well. She has had episodes of panic whenever she's under pressure which is absolutely me. She has had hallucinations of her parents fighting which is true too because people do hallucinate things, I did hallucinate something like that too. She had had episodes of self harm and yes when you have anxiety you do go through self doubt. Anxiety isn't something that's just there for an hour or so. It has a great role in shaping up the person's life. So yes, she does get conscious about what she has to do and is under constant pressure of being the best even if things aren't going her way.
I really wanted to show mental health in this book. As someone who is dealing with it personally I really want to put forward the struggles that those individuals who go through on a daily basis. People don't realise but what seems to be a small thing for them is actually a big topic of worry or overthinking for us. So I really wanted to talk about mental health and the need to normalise it. Having anxiety or depression isn't an illness and people taking help aren't crazy or mad. But it is a serious phase that needs support and love from close ones.
Also I wanted to make her soft because it takes a lot from an individual to provide comfort to someone else when you are yourself constantly suffering. I feel because Y/n was so soft and gentle with Jungkook always and because she was always there to motivate him and make him believe in himself, it was one of the reasons that Jungkook could open up to her.
She was just perfect for him.
He had met a lot of ladies in the past, but there were hardly any who spoke to him outside sex or who were actually concerned about how he was doing or loving him with his scars.
I know what Jungkook faced earlier with his mom was cruel and bad, but what Y/n faced wasn't something small as well. Her anxiety, parents separation and underconfidence in herself are themselves major issues she is going through.
But she also has a bubbly, fun loving, caring, light hearted, silly side that captures Jungkook’s heart.
Q3. Chemistry between the leads.
For me as the name suggests the chemistry always had to be on fire.
Now for me chemistry are of two types
A. Physical and Sexual Chemistry
Now as we all know and I hope you all believe that their sexual chemistry is no doubt very good.
I wanted them to have a proper dominant and submissive relationship but I swapped it with sugar daddy and babygirl kinda thing. They still are Dom and sub though.
For JK. He's a Dom not only in bed but also in their relationship outside the bedroom. If you ask me, I would say he is the anchor in their relationship whom Y/n can depend on. Also because he is almost eight years older than her, he is mature and someone on whom she can depend on and look upto.
In bed, he likes discipline because that is just something that he likes. He likes when Y/n listens to him, but he equally likes when she teases him and gets him on edge but he knows she likes it equally when he dominates her.
For Y/n, she has a bratty and bubbly side to her prim and proper exterior. She likes to get on his nerves. She likes it when he pins her down and dominates her.
She keeps him on toes and he is ready to oblige to anything that she tells him to do.
And speaking of Dom and sub, I did some research and yes these behaviours are also related psychologically than physically.
Jungkook likes to be in control because that is something he was deprived of throughout his young days. And Y/n likes to be dominated because somewhere Jungkook’s presence makes her feel protected and treasured. Also she is a hopeless romantic, so that makes sense.
But that doesn't mean they can't switch, I feel they are absolutely a switch but I feel the majority of time JK is a Dom and Y/n is a sub and that's just how they like it.
B. Emotional chemistry
I feel both of the characters serve each other and fit each other well.
Because Y/n wasn't one of those characters who pushed and forced Jungkook to tell his story, I feel Jungkook was comfortable in letting her know about his past. She was one of those people who never questioned him. Always made him believe in himself with her bookish knowledge. Also because she was so gentle with him, he felt really cherished. I know not many of us know this but it's true that men also like to be cherished and to be felt important.
And yes if jungkook is an anchor, then she is the life and light in their relationship. She brings joy and liveliness with her bubbly and goofy side. She calms his exterior and brings his soft side out too.
For Jungkook, because Y/n is so underconfident I think Jungkook supports her perfectly because he has confidence in himself at least with regards to his work and business. So I feel a character like him can completely support and respect her. Also because he is more mature and dependable, he does give a vibe of protection which is necessary in my point of view.
Together, they just blend perfectly well. I also like the just soft for one girl kind of trope the book has because Jungkook really has a lot of rules and hard limits and he is always the one to break them for her.
Q4. The book has a lot of smut.
Yes. It does have a lot of smut 😆 and I really try to control but I can not. For me, other than writing spicy chapters, smut is also a way of communicating the feelings of the characters.
If you see every smut has had something that changed from lust to something deeper for them. So yes smut is definitely an integral and important part of this book.
It's just the way of them identifying their feelings for each other as well.
For me, sex is a very important element in a relationship and it is something very pure (coming from personal experience) and I find it is very important for relationship dynamics as well.
If done with the right person, it is the purest and most beautiful feeling you can experience.
And yes, having great chemistry between two hot horny characters, writing smut is definitely very entertaining for me as well.
I just hope you aren't bored of it, because there are many more to come.
Q5. Why haven't they realised their love?
Well that is a very intriguing topic. As for Jungkook, I feel he possesses fear, because he has practically lost all the people he has loved , so somewhere being in denial somewhere calms him, but he isn't ignorant to his feelings. He is well aware of his feelings, maybe he will realise them when time comes right.
For Y/n, I feel she's scared because of what happened with her mother and father. Since she has already witnessed a broken relationship, she somewhere is scared to fall into the same trap. And even though Jungkook is very loyal and loving, it's a bit difficult for her.
Personally speaking and since I also suffer from anxiety, I feel we suffer from trust issues a lot be it in ourselves or in others. So it takes time for us to build faith into something. Moreover we feel that we are the ones who won't be able to keep the other person happy. So I feel Y/n also doubts herself, if she would be able to keep him happy or not.
They both are complicated individuals. There's no white or black they are all grey. They have had bad pasts due to which they all are still suffering, so things wouldn't happen in a jiffy between them.
Moreover I too like you all want them to realise their love for each other soon.
I hope I didn't get out of the way in any question. I hope I answered your questions well and you were satisfied with the answers.
I really had fun writing the answers.
