chapter 11

At this moment, Jimin has never wanted to fight the college administration so badly for making lectures so long.

The day before exams is usually the time where teachers are jam packed with kids desperate to pass exams with the bare minimum of a 60, but others, like Jimin, tend to strive for perfection. He was one of the only kids in the class at the time, but that didn't stop the teacher from rambling off about everything that didn't have to do with what they actually needed.

His mind wandered to what happened close to two hours ago. Was he developing a mini crush on the jock? The kiss was so light and innocent, but for him, it was too short and didn't last long enough for him to enjoy it.

The desire to be held like he was during those intimate moments started to take over, but reality hit him soon when the little voice in his head decided to make a special guest appearance at probably one of the most inconvenient times.

'He just wants my body, not me.'

'Who would even want me?'

The facade he put on during school to his peers, and even to Hoseok at least got him through the day before he would go home and break down in his room. He'd smile, do a simple wave and deal with the nasty comments from his beloved bullies everyday, but inside, he was beyond repair. His home life was never great, but after his mom was gone, he really had nobody but Hoseok.

When Jungkook came in, everything changed. Although only being intimate once, he felt secure in the moment, like he was actually loved by someone, and the kiss damn near sealed his emotions.

But deep down, he knew that he had to face reality. In the end, he was just Jimin, a lonely, depressed college student with a messy past that's only getting more catastrophic. The only thing making it seem stable is the fact that he's trying to glue shards of glass that he calls his emotions back together. Never getting his hopes up was a concept he grew to understand overtime, but that kiss...

'It was only a kiss, nothing more.'

He just wishes it could be a lot more.

The professor dismissed the class and a classmate tapped him on the shoulder, snapping him out of his depressive trance.

"You were dazed the entire time. Everything okay?"

'Trust no one'  He thought.

'He's only asking because it's polite, not because he cares.'  He thought.

He hated the fact he hesitated, because before he could utter out the lie 'I'm fine', the classmate spoke up again.

"Exams are getting to you too?"

Jimin just nodded, and stood up, packing up his things. Knocking over a notebook by accident, he went to go pick it up, but another hand was faster and put it in his bag.

"I'm Hyungwon by the way. I always see you from afar, but I never really got the guts to approach you until now."

Giving a welcoming smile, he introduced himself and swung his backpack over his shoulder. The two walked out of the class, starting off with a little bit of small talk, then Hyungwon looked at his phone.

"It's only about 12:30, and my sister's playing volleyball. Wanna join me?"

Jimin nodded, again with uncertainty, but maybe this could be a new beginning for him. For once, he wasn't using Hoseok as his crutch or advocate to speak up for him, so why not take advantage of the new opportunity?

"You really are a quiet person. Come on, you'll have fun, plus, homecoming is tonight."

Ironically, his boss gave him the entire week off since he worked for three months straight without using any vacation days. He really didn't do anything outside of going to class, and doing ballet, and once again, he decided to not pass on the extra opportunity.

"I-I'll go with you." Hyungwon smiled at him as they walked towards the gymnasium, and heard a couple of smacks and cheers from the closed doors.

The two boys walked in, and shockingly, the bleachers were close to being packed. Despite exams coming close, homecoming week was typically filled with activities that de-stress a lot of students. Walking towards the top, Jimin felt a little bit antsy around large crowds, he wasn't necessarily claustrophobic, but being so packed together with other people that he didn't know left a heavy feeling in his stomach.

His eyes wandered around as he sat down, trying to distract himself from the crowd, but stopped when he saw two people on the other side of the bleachers.

'Why is my luck so goddamn bad..'

Both Taehyung and Jungkook were sitting close to the front, with two girls in between them. Taehyung was endlessly flirting with the girl, which was beyond obvious even from afar, but Jungkook seemed almost distant from the girl. She tried holding his hand, which he weakly accepted, she tried feeling his bicep, and all he did was look at her with no type of interest. The game wasn't even happening in Jimin's mind, since all he could focus on was Jungkook. Each cheer, scream of frustration, it was all just noise to him.

Hyungwon tapped him, which make him slightly flinch, and he turned to him with a slightly flustered look.

"Sorry..." Jimin lowered his head a little bit, barely making eye contact with his new friend.

"I was just going to ask if you wanted some food. I barely ate today, so I'll get you something if you want."

Following Hyungwon, the two walked over to the snack bar and looked at the variety of food, but Jimin felt guilty making him pay for anything. He never liked when people spent money on him, as he felt it was a sign of weakness that he couldn't really do anything for himself.

But hey, free food.

He decided to get a small bag of chips and water, and put it on the counter, which actually surprised Hyungwon.

"That's really all you're getting? You're gonna make me look fat!" He teased Jimin lightly, then bought an extra burger for him just in case he did get hungry.

As they were walking back, Taehyung and Jungkook were heading their way, and Jimin put on his hoodie, making sure they hopefully didn't see him. The two girls were following him, with one having Taehyung's arm wrapped around her and the other still trying to spark some interest out of Jungkook.

"Aren't you supposed to be at practice Sana?" Taehyung smiled at her, which made a slight pink tint flush across her cheeks.

"Yeah, but you asked me out and you know I couldn't say no. Plus, we know the routines already, so why would I go when I could spend time with you?"

Taehyung dramatically put a hand to his heart, making it seem like he was flattered by the shower of compliments. Jimin almost gagged out loud, but walked away in time before it could even come out of his mouth. He thought he went unnoticed, but his phone vibrated and a text message was on the screen.

Jungkook 😶: You know putting a hoodie over your head makes you look way more obvious than you think.

Fuck.

'How did you know I was here? I just came here 10 minutes ago'

It was a simple hoodie as well, but how did he know it was him so quickly? He almost never wore it, but then he remembered.

His hoodie had his job logo on the back.

Jungkook 😶: I'm almost ceeeerrtain no other guy in their right mind would be a walking advertisement for a strip club, whether they're gay or straight.

So much for being low key.

Sliding the hood off his head, he went back to the bleachers and sat back down, watching the rest of the game in silence while his new friend would give occasional noises of excitement. Shockingly, they won by one point, meaning they would for once, move onto semi-finals in their division. It was a miracle, since they were known for losing almost every game they played.

"It's about time our school did something good for once. Anyway, I gotta meet up with my girlfriend. It's our 6 month anniversary next week, and I want to make it special." Hyungwon stood up, while Jimin smiled.

"Wow, congratulations. Who's your girlfriend?" He raised an eyebrow playfully, while pulling out his phone to find a picture.

"You trying to steal my girl?" Hyungwon smirked, but Jimin kept the same smile on his face.

"Haha, I'm gay."

"Oh...well, here's a picture of her then." Flipping the phone around, Jimin took it, and his smile dropped instantly.

'He can't be serious. He cannot be serious.'

"HYUNGWON! I've been waiting for you for five minutes outside, what are you...doing." A not so pleasant girl walked up the bleachers, and stopped mid-tantrum when she made eye contact with Jimin. Hyungwon didn't catch the awkward drift, and proceeded to put an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to his body.

"Sumi, this is Jimin. I met him a few hours ago in my class." He kissed the top of her forehead, but Sumi remained unaffected.

"Yeah, we've met a couple of times before." She fake smiled, while Jimin returned it back.

'I hope he knows that those 6 months aren't going to last another 6...' He mentally sighed to himself, then stood up and started to walk down.

"I have to go meet up with Hoseok, you should get going." Before Hyungwon could even say goodbye, Jimin was already pushing the door open to walk outside, not saying another word.

"Well that was weird. Anyway, I made reservations around 6 for the two of us at that new place that opened across the street from here, 소공동 I believe?"

She smiled to him but kept her eye on the door.

"Yeah, we can go. But I might have to leave early..."

He gently pulled away from her, then held her hand and walked down the bleachers.

"Any particular reason why?" She looked up at him to see if any type of suspicion was forming, but he remained the same. Sumi knew she was a very good liar, and that her boyfriend was an easy person to manipulate. Truthfully, she didn't have any feelings towards him, she was only with him to make Jungkook jealous and want her back.

But of course, that ended up backfiring.

Jimin was almost like a last resort. She knows they see each other for something, but Jungkook has a huge reputation around the school, as well as a huge pride that could easily be shattered.

But wasn't Jungkook straight? He has to have some underlying reason for it, she did only see his name once anyway. She knew she sounded desperate, but the regret always comes later if the plan doesn't work.

"I have a friend that wants me to get something from her before she gets off work."

Hyungwon decided to shrug it off, and stepped into the cab waiting outside for the two of them. Sumi then pulled out her phone, and proceeded to text someone.

'You better have that stuff ready when I get there.'
