Chapter 2: Well shit...
The scene cuts to Ruby Rose's amazed face turn to one of shame as Glynda Goodwitch, with a tablet computer, paces around the table Ruby and Strikerz is seated at, right underneath a bright light in the otherwise dark room.
Glynda spoke towards Ruby, "I hope that you realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady. You put yourself and others in great danger."
"They started it!" Ruby exclaimed.
"And you." Glynda faced Strikerz, "I received a message from a detective from Mistral that he wants your skull caved in."
"I'mma be honest with you Glynda." Strikerz said.
"It's Goodwitch."
"Yeah, yeah. Well said detective was sleeping with a Councilman's wife. Wanted to report about my bounty completion when I caught him..." he turns to look at Ruby then back to Glynda, "...'wrestling' with the wife. I was about to leave and pretend I didn't see anything until he started attacking me. Needless to say, please don't let that man here. He'll cause great danger."
"That's... fair..." She clears her throat and turns back to Ruby, "If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..."
She notices Ruby's smile and Strikerz's raised eyebrow.
"...And a slap on the wrist."
She demonstrates with her riding crop, which Ruby barely avoids as she gives out an "Eeek!"
Strikerz just goes wide eyed and smirked at her. 'Kinky~'
"But... there is someone here who would like to meet you two." Glynda said as she moves out of the way so a surprised Ruby and a confused Strikerz can see a man in green come through the doorway, holding a mug and a plate of cookies.
"Ruby Rose..." Ozpin leans in to look at her face. "You... have silver eyes."
"Uh, um..." Ruby muttered nervously.
Strikerz meanwhile cocks pistol, "Back the hell up from the minor."
Ruby looked offended, "Minor?! I'm not a kid!"
Strikerz looks at her, "How old are you?"
"15 years old." She answered as crossed her arms proudly.
"Well, in accordance to Article 27, paragraph 5 on the Kingdom of Vale age of consent: Humans and Faunus under the age of 18 years of age are considered minors."
Ruby's proud smile faltered while Glynda and Ozpin looked impressed.
"Well how old are you then?" Ruby asked.
"17. My birthday is January 7th." Strikerz said. 'At least that fuck up orphanage got that right.' He thought.
Ozpin clears his throat grabbing the twos attention, "So! Where did you learn to do this, Miss Rose?" He gestures with his head at the tablet showing Ruby's fighting. "And yours young man." The tablet shows Strikerz's fight with the White Fang in the warehouse that was a week ago.
Ruby went back to being nervous, "S-Signal Academy."
Strikerz just shrugged, "Self taught. And a little bit of watching tournament matches and reading comics."
Ozpin looked intrigued, "They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed? And you were taught yourself how to fight and design weapons?"
"Well, one teacher in particular." Ruby said then double-takes at Strikerz, "You design weapons?"
"Mainly firearms. They don't makeshift by the way. Would be too complicated to disassemble and problematic to clean and lubricant." Strikerz said as Ruby nodded. "Wait, you like weapons too?"
"'Like em?' I love em!"
"I know right! The designs..."
"The shape..."
"The fire power..."
"The sound..."
"The way it hits a target..." They said in unison. Then looked at each other in surprise and shock.
"Did we just become best friends?!" Ruby exclaimed.
"I think we did!" Strikerz said as the two high fived at their new friendship.
Ozpin chuckles at their antics, "I see..." He puts the cookies on the table in front of Ruby.
She tentatively picks one up, eats it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal, shovels the rest into her mouth. But gave some to Strikerz who headpats her.
"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..." Ozpin said as Strikerz looked confused.
"Oh! That's my uncle!" Ruby mumbles through her full was mouth of chocolate chip cookies. She then swallows and wipes her mouth with her sleeve, embarrassed, "Sorry about that. That's my Uncle Qrow! He was a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" She proceeds to make some karate-style poses and noises.
"Huh, neat." Strikerz nodded approvingly.
Ozpin nodded as well, "So I've noticed." He places his cup on the table as he leans in, then sits down opposite them." And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
"Watch it buddy. I'm armed and I have two witnesses." Strikerz said with the pistol on the table and pointing at Ruby and Glynda.
"Don't involve me." Glynda bluntly spoke.
"Alright fine." Strikerz said.
Glynda placed a hand on her hip, "Fine."
"Fine."
"Fine."
"Fine."
"Fine."
"Fine."
"Fine."
"..."
"Fine--wait a minute..." now Glynda looked confused then annoyed at Strikerz, "Don't get smart with me."
Strikerz just smiled, "Well believe your stunning in a way."
Glynda just turned her head up avoiding eye contact with him.
Ruby looked a little flustered but continued to answer Ozpin's question, "Well... I want to be a Huntress."
Ozpin folded his hands, "You want to slay monsters?"
Ruby nodded, "Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon!" She begins talking faster and faster with her enthusiasm growing. "You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! *giggles* I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!" She flips out at the last part, staring at the two with a wide, crazy smile.
Glynda and Ozpin study her.
Strikerz just mouths 'What the fuck?'
"Do you two know who I am?" Ozpin asked.
"You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon." Ruby said.
"Yeah what she said." Strikerz said pointing a thumb at Ruby.
Ozpin smiles at the two, "Hello."
"Nice to meet you."
"You want to come to my school?" He asked Ruby.
She nodded, "More than anything."
Ozpin exchanges a glance with Glynda, who shows her disapproval with a "Hmmph" before he turns back to Ruby.
"Well, okay."
Ruby smiles, wide-eyed and open-mouthed.
He then turns to Strikerz, "And what about you?"
Strikerz leaned back in his chair, contemplating Ozpin's question. "Beacon, huh? Never thought about formal training."
"You seem quite skilled already," Ozpin noted. "Why not hone those skills in a structured environment? You'll have access to resources, teachers, and a team."
Strikerz smirked. "Tempting, but I prefer my freedom. I don't like being tied down."
Ozpin nodded. "Understandable. However, consider this: the White Fang is becoming more aggressive. Having a network and formal backing could be advantageous."
Strikerz paused, tapping his fingers on the table. "Alright, I'll give it a shot. But if anyone tries to control me, they're getting a face full of fist."
"Deal," Ozpin said with a smile.
"Sweet, looks like we're both going to Beacon!" Ruby cheered.
Ozpin stood up, "Very well. Miss Goodwitch will arrange your accommodations. Welcome to Beacon Academy."
The scene changes again as Yang Xiao Long tackles her sister in a hug aboard the large Vale Airship to Beacon, crushing the air out of her. "Oh, I still can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!"
Ruby was gasping for air. "Please stop."
Strikerz was nearby, carrying a large duffel bag filled with his guns and ammunition and wearing a pair of sunglasses. He was secretly staring at Yang's tits, smirking.
Yang released her sister. "But I'm so proud of you!"
Ruby sighed. "Really, Sis, it was nothing."
Yang exclaimed, "What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees."
Ruby grumbled, "I don't want to be the 'bee's knees', okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees."
Yang looked at her sister with concern. "What's with you? Aren't you excited?"
Ruby admitted, "Of course I'm excited... I just..." She sighed deeply. "I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."
Yang went over and gave her sister a one-armed hug. "But you are special."
Strikerz, observing the sisterly bond, couldn't help but chuckle. "You two are quite the pair."
Yang turned her attention to him, raising an eyebrow. "And who might you be, tall, dark, and mysterious?"
Strikerz flashed a grin. "Name's Strikerz. Looks like I'm tagging along with your little sis."
Yang sized him up, noting the duffel bag and his confident demeanor. "So, you're the one causing all the commotion in the news. Nice to meet you."
Strikerz extended his hand. "Likewise. Nice to meet someone who can take a punch and keep smiling."
Yang laughed, shaking his hand firmly. "You have no idea."
The girls' and guy's attention is drawn to the 2-D animated newscast on Vale News Network playing nearby, talking about the robbery and showing Roman's mugshot.
Cyril: The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you, Lisa.
The mugshot changes to Lisa Lavender, with a photo of animal-eared demonstrators holding signs saying "WE ARE NOT ANIMALS!" followed by an image of the logo of a growling red wolf's head with three scratch marks.
Lisa: Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted...
The news feed is cut off as a hologram of Glynda replaces it. "Hello, and welcome to Beacon!"
Yang raised an eyebrow, "Who's that?"
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch."
"Oh."
'Or Goodbitch' Strikerz thought.
"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." The hologram disappears.
Among several other cries of surprise Ruby looked out the window in awe, "Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here!" Ruby and other students look through the glass walls at the town below. "I guess home isn't too far after all!"
Yang smiled at her, "Beacon's our home, now."
"Cool. No more hotels for me then." Strikerz joked causing both Ruby and Yang to laugh.
The three hear a passenger groaning and hunched over nearby, running to the back of the ship.
"Well...crap... I guess the view isn't for everyone." Yang said as she rolls her eyes.
Ruby cringed, "It was a nice moment while it lasted."
"I hope he's the only one." Strikerz said then noticed a blob of puke on Yang's shoe.
The ship is seen approaching Beacon across a large body of water.
Yang (voice over): I wonder who we're gonna meet!
Ruby (voice over): I just hope they're better than Vomit Boy. Oh, Yang, gross! You have puke on your shoe!
Yang (voice over): Gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross, gross!
Ruby (voice over): Get-Get away! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me! Get away from me!
Strikerz (voice over): Ya nasty.
The scene ends with the airship soaring above the waters toward the majestic Beacon Academy, the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
