Chapter Fifteen
(Eren)
"Alright, I'll meet you outside." I smiled, turning my phone off and placing it in my pocket. I was just on the phone with Armin, who was waiting outside of the building for me. Today was the day we were going to (drumroll please)......France! Armin was taking me and a bunch of our other friends to the airport before we were all separated to go to different places.
I grabbed my suitcase while walking out of the door, locking it behind me. As I was walking down the hallway towards the elevator, I heard Jean and Marco leaving their apartment and walking quickly behind me.
"Eren! Hold the elevator please!" I heard Marco shout while picking up his pace along side Jean. I clenched my teeth. That awkward moment with Jean yesterday popped back into my head. And as I turned to hold the elevator, I could see the uneasiness on Jean's face. They stepped inside and I clicked the first floor button.
"I see your all packed! Where were you assigned to again?" Marco asked, his iconic smile spread across his face.
"France." I smiled, hoping the elevator would find a way of speeding up.
"Ahh, sounds fun! Jean's heading to Berlin and I'm going to Austria." He nodded, just as the elevator eased onto the ground floor.
"Cool." I smiled quickly before walking past them and outside the building where I could see Armin's car double-parked on the road. I ran quickly out onto the street and opened the door while hopping in. Armin was driving with Sasha in the front seat while next to me sat Mikasa and Connie.
I've become a lot better friends with Sasha and Connie since we started working together. I've also met a bunch of other people at the agency, like Annie, Christa and Reiner. It's nice having so many friends for once...
Any-who.
"Hey Eren!" Armin smiled looking back for a moment before starting up the car again.
"Hey." I responded, throwing my suitcase into the back, narrowly avoiding Connie's head.
"We better hurry up, my flight leaves at 8 and I know it won't be easy getting inside the airport with the paparazzi lurking around the place." Mikasa sighed, rolling down her window.
"I can't believe I'm going to Ireland! They founded the potato's! I'm starving!" Sasha laughed. Huh, I wonder how she stayed so fit while she was constantly eating. She modeled the majority of sports section!
We sped along the highway for about half an hour, getting there at around 7:20 a.m.
Now, the hard part. Getting inside.
We could see the paparazzi waiting at the front door from all the way at the back of the car line. I sighed, as the cats slowly moved along.
This would take forever.
I felt my phone start vibrating from the inside of my pocket. I grabbed it and looked to see who was calling.
I smiled and answered.
"Hey!" I smiled happily.
"Hey, your coming with the blond kid and some other people right?" Asked Levi from the other end of the phone.
"Yeah, we're all the way at the back of the car line." I responded.
"Damn, okay, Erwin said he'll send a guy to take the car but you'll have to push through paparazzi." He said.
"Sure, thats fine." I smiled.
"Great, see you soon babe."
"Ew, don't call me that." I laughed.
"I'll call you whatever the fuck I like .... babe."
And he hung up. Huh.
"Alright guys, Erwin's sending someone to park the car, we gotta get through the paparazzi though." I said aloud.
"Great." Mikasa sighed. We all knew how much she hated the cameras.
Suddenly, I loud knock came from the side window where Sasha was siting.
"Let's get going!" Smiled Connie. We all quickly hopped out of the car as the man took Armin's place in the drivers seat. I opened the boot and grabbed my suitcase, then waited for the others to grab theirs before walking towards the front entrance of the airport.
"I hate this." Mikasa muttered as we walked side by side in front of the others, slowly closing in on the paparazzi, who surprisingly hadn't noticed us yet.
"It'll be fine." I smiled gently, sticking out my hand for her to take. She sighed and grabbed it tightly.
This reminded me of when we were both younger. Mikasa usually got nervous around cars, ever since her parents passed away. She'd grown out of her fear after a while, but back then she would refuse to drive to school with me and my mom. Nobody blamed her, but our school was at least a 20 minute walk from where we lived and a 10 year old girl walking alone on busy streets? It just wasn't safe.
So I would walk with her. I would take her hand in mine and we would silently walk to school. You may think this was honestly not any safer, but I always noticed my mom tailing us in her car. I got teased a lot about 'holding a girls hand' and 'cooties' but Mikasa was literally my sister, so why would it be weird?
Anyway, she squeezed my hand just as the first cameraman turned and spotted us.
"It's them!"
We were instantly surrounded my cameras and mics. We all ended up clumped together as we pushed through the crowd.
"Where are you each going?"
"What's Freedom Wings future!"
"Why do you wear that ring?"
All questions were ignored as we slowly got closer to the doors. We finally pushed ourselves inside the airport as security worked to keep the paparazzi outside. I immediately saw the rest of our large group waiting at the area in front of security.
A could see Levi standing next to Erwin, arms crossed with his signature "pissed off" look on his face.
I quickly let go of Mikasa's hand and walked quickly toward him.
"Hey!" I grinned as I approached him. He looked up and I saw his mouth twitch into a small smile.
"Eren!" Smiled Erwin, stepping in front of Levi. "It's great to see you! I hope your excited for the trip?" He asked, placing a strong hand on my shoulder.
"Um, yeah." I half-laughed as Levi stepped around him, his pissed off look returning to his face.
"Great! Now where's that girlfriend of yours? Ah! Found her, see you later Eren!" He smiled again while walking away.
"She's not my girlfri– ah, what's the point." I laughed and turned back to Levi.
"Hey." He raised an eyebrow and gestured towards the seats behind us.
I tiredly sat down and yawned as Levi sat beside me.
"How are you tired? It's already 7:45?" He asked.
I shrugged and smiled. "Your old, you wouldn't understand." I smiled while closing my eyes and leaning back in the seat.
"You wanna say that again?" I heard him say. I laughed and poked his shoulder, "You know I didn't mean that."
I looked into his shiny gray eyes and felt so warm inside. I really wanted to kiss him, but we were literally in the middle of a crowded airport.
Levi looked away and checked his watch. "Our flight leaves at 9:00, we could leave now and hopefully have some time to ourselves?" I sat up straighter and excitedly nodded.
Levi half-smiled and waved towards Erwin, eventually pointing at security. Our boss gave us a thumbs up and we quickly made our way over to the bag check in. We dropped off our bags and walked side-by side to security.
It was easy enough to get through, but as we went to collect our shoes and my backpack, one of the men working noticed Levi.
"Hey! Your that photographer my daughter loves! Mind if I get an autograph?" He smiled widely, grabbing a piece of paper and a pen, holding it towards Levi.
I saw Levi check his watch, but I couldn't let him let this man down! I elbowed him and smiled. Levi rolled his eyes at me and turned back to the officer.
"Sure." He nodded, taking the pen and paper, quickly scribbling his signature and handing it back.
"Thank you!" The man grinned, stuffing the paper in his pocket and continued to work.
"Your just so sweet, aren't you?" I laughed as we walked toward our gate number. He grumbled something that sounded a lot like the word 'idiot', but me, being the great person I am decided to ignore it.
We continued walking in silence for a while.
"You excited to go back to France?" I asked carefully, knowing that his home hadn't been to kind to him in past years.
He looked down as we walked some more.
"Yeah. I need a new perspective on that place. One with a way better view." He smiled, turning to look at me."
I blushed and pushed him a bit. "Your hilarious." I laughed just as we came to our gate. He rolled his eyes looked at the flight time board.
"Yeah, we got about half and hour." He smiled while looking around.
"Can we get snacks!" I grinned excitedly.
"Really? It's too early for junk food." He said while crossing his arms.
"Oh come on, mom." I smirked. He gave me a sharp look before walked toward the closest shop. I laughed and jumped to catch up with him.
We got a bunch of snacks. And when I say a bunch, I'm mean a bunch. Some Doritos, Pringle's (salt and vinegar, Levi's request), gummy worms and bears and even those weird ones that look like fish? And lastly, coffee.
I drained mine in less then a minute.
"Eren! That was supposed to last for the plane!" Levi scolded as I threw away my cup. I shrugged and began picking at the snacks.
"Boarding for flight CA34, heading to Paris, France will be beginning now." The lady announced on the loud speakers.
Levi smiled and grabbed the snacks out of my hands, placing them back in the bag.
"Hey—!"First Class, please make your way to the gate."
Levi stood up and began walking toward where the ladies were standing. I grabbed my backpack and ran to catch up with him.
"Nobody told me we were in first class?" I said worriedly. It's been years since I've been on a plane, and I still had no fucking idea what I was doing.
"Maybe next time you should read your damn ticket." He said handing me mine. I had asked him to hold it for a while cause' I was so prone to losing things.
And right on the front of it was the words "FIRST CLASS SEATING".
We got to the desk and handed the lady our boarding passes, and she definitely took her sweet time scanning them, always peeking up at Levi. Huh, the audacity.
Finallyyyyy, she handed them back to us and we quickly began walking through the tunnel.
Nobody else was behind us, so I grabbed Levi's hand and squeezed it as hard as Mikasa had squeezed mine earlier.
I'd kinda just realized I don't like planes.
Great. I know.
Levi didn't let go as we boarded and passed the oblivious older pilot. We sat down together in our spacious compartment right at the front of the plane and watched as more people began boarding.
Then, we were ready for takeoff.
*********
I'm such a fucking asshole.
Last time I posted a chapter was exactly 170 days ago. Or 5 and a half damn months ago.
Why did it take so long you may ask? It's because I suck. I procrastinated and got bored and hated everything and wanted to stop.
Then I got over my bitchy-self and sucked it up.
Anywhoo!
Happy thanksgiving!
Happy holidays!
