Strike A Match
(Song: Cavetown - Rocket Ships)
The train station is cold and empty, the only life besides than me and my father being a small mouse feasting on a crumb a few meters away. It's strange, to say the least, to be in a big empty space at four in the morning - In a foreign country, no less. I tug my jacket further upon my shoulders, curling my long reddish tail across my lap for warmth. "I wish I hadn't worn shorts..." I shudder quietly, holding my arms. My father places a hand on my shoulder, a smile on his face.
"Don't worry, sweetie, the train will arrive any minute now. We just have to be patient." He reassures me. I tuck a bit of loose hair behind my ear and sigh.
"Will we be home soon? I'm drying out over here," I sigh. "I need water."
"Yes, Y/N, We'll be there soon." As if on queue, the bullet train pulls into view. My father and I pick up our suitcases and walk over to the train, my father handing in the tickets as we board.
With a yawn, I sit by a window and set my bag on the floor beside me. Sighing, I lean my head against the cold glass window and stare out at the city, my tail again curling around my legs and away from the danger of careless people who could step on it.
My father sits next to me and opens up a book, becoming lost in his own world as the train starts to move. With a quiet sigh, I focus my eyes on the world outside, the quiet sounds of the train slowly pulling me into a peaceful, dreamless sleep.
Before long, my father is shaking my shoulder and doing his best to wake me as he gathers his things. A yawn escapes my lips as I reach for my backpack, slinging it over my right shoulder and leaving the train at my father's side. A car is parked just outside the train station, headlights on. A man stands in front, though I can't make out his features just yet.
(I do not actually know what Kamui Woods looks like without his costume, so just roll with the description I give him and don't bully me ;m;)
My dad guides me to the car and waves to the man, calling out, "Hey, Shinji!" The man turns his attention towards us.
"Hey, Collins!" The man laughs, giving my father a fist-bump in greeting. The man is tall and lean. His hair is scruffy and brown, and his eyes are a deep chocolate colour. His skin seems to be made of light brown wood. "It's been a while!"
"This is my daughter, Y/N," My dad grins proudly, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and pulling me close. "Y/N, this is Shinji Nishiya, otherwise known as Kamui Woods!"
I smile. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Nishiya." I hum politely, bowing.
"Please, call me Shinji," He grins, waving his hand dismissively. "You guys must be freezing. Come on, let's get you home." He opens the car door for me, and I tentatively climb into the backseat.
"Thank, Mr.--er, Shinji." I grin, strapping my seatbelt over my chest. I aimlessly fiddle with the fin on my left arm, sighing as I look out the window.
"This is life now," I murmur quietly. "I gotta get used to it."
