|Ch.24| There's Nowhere To Hide

(Song: Sam Tinnesz - Don't Close Your Eyes)

(Y/N's P.O.V)

"This is real. Those are villains."

Aizawa straightens, scanning the massive ocean of evil-doers that now swarm the USJ. "Oh, my god..." I whisper. Dread creeps over me like an icy chill, numbing my brain from all outside emotions. In this frozen state my mind offers me only one thought: We're screwed. There is no avoiding these guys. I'm like a cow being herded into a truck for the slaughter house, only the cow doesn't know what's going to happen, and I do.

My hands instinctively tighten around Bakugou's bicep, my scale armor slowly taking over the space on my arms, legs, shoulders, and back. The ash-blonde boy standing parallel to me looks down with a confused, almost surprised look, as if he didn't expect me to be able to show this ability. His red eyes don't linger over me for long, however, as a deep, demonic-sounding voice rumbles throughout the area. These guys are all the way down there... how are we hearing them?!

"The only real heroes I see are Thirteen and Erasure Head... Perplexing," He says, his silk-like voice almost soothing in a terrible way. "According to the schedule we retrieved from U.A., All Might should be here as well."

"Crap, he has our schedule??" I hiss, my eyes expanding. "He knows everything we're gonna do...!"

The last figure to emerge appears to be a large, muscular humanoid monster with many slash-like scars across his body. His brain, a fleshy-pink colour, is exposed on the top of his head. Two large eyes with beady black pupils sit beside it. His mouth, strangely, looks to be molded after the shape of a bird's beak, but it's filled with sharp, angular white teeth. Fear strikes my heart at the sight of the enormous monster, which looks ready to fulfill any command.

"So you scumbags used the press as a cover and sneaked onto campus," Aizawa says. Though he's wearing goggles, I can almost see him glaring intensely at the squad of villains, who now approach the class at a very slow pace.

"...Where is he??" A light, raspy voice asks, completely disregarding Aizawa altogether. "I went through the trouble of bringing so many friends who are eager to meet him... They want All Might. The great Symbol of Peace... I can't believe he's not here."

It only takes me a moment to realize the voice's owner. It's the man with the hands clinging to him, the one who seems to be the leader of them all. He leans back, spreading his hands out to his sides, and tilts his head upwards. Something about him seems violently angry, viciously insane. "Ah, well," He says, straightening, "Maybe if I kill a few kids, he'll come out to play."

Postures stiffen, hearts quicken their incessant beat, and fearful gasps arise from Class 1-A. Aizawa's scarf jumps into the air, swirling around his body like a whirlwind of gray. His messy black hair flies above his head.

"What...?! Real villains?? H-How could they get into a U.A. facility this secure??" Kirishima asks, his red eyes expanding.

"Y-Yeah, Thirteen, why aren't the alarms going off??" Yayorozu says, stepping forwards from the back of the class.

"Good question... I'm not sure," The pro hero says, looking to be deep in thought.

"Is the entire campus under attack?" Todoroki, the boy with half-red, half-white hair, ponders solemnly, a serious look crossing his stony face. "Or is this their only target...? Either way, if the alarm sensors aren't going off, then one of these villains must have a Quirk that's masking their presence here. They carefully chose this isolated facility as an entry point at a time when a class was being taught. They're fools for trespassing here, but they've thought this out. Whatever their plan, they must have a concrete objective in mind... but what is it?? " He asks, his expression darkening.

"Thirteen, get them outta here!" Aizawa says, stepping forth. "And alert the main campus... actually, if they have the ability to block our sensors... then they might be jamming our regular communication, too. Kaminari, try using your quirk to contact the school."

The golden-haired boy freezes slightly, but quickly nods and says, "Yes, sir," under his breath. He touches the small device attached to his ear, and begins working to send his message.

"But what're you gonna do?! You can't fight them on your own!!" Midoriya shouts, his eyes full of worry and dismay. "There's too many of 'em. Even if you can nullify their Quirks, your fighting style isn't suited for this. Your power works best in stealth and one-on-one fights. That's not gonna help with a group."

Aizawa simply turns his head, and says, "You can't be a pro if you only have one trick," Izuku gasps, and the scruffy man continues. "I'll leave it to you, Thirteen." He says, before jumping straight into battle, and out of view.

"Let's go, class!" Thirteen says, ushering us out. We all turn, and run away as fast as we can. I try to keep myself from crying, as my worry for our teacher is nearly suffocating, but I continue to run either way. My feet pound against the concrete in a rhythmically soothing beat. With the gate within reach, there's so much hope to give, there's a way out, and if we can just make it, we'll be fine!

A shadowy purple warp-gate opens up in the ground, spreading and expanding faster than we can blink. Again, it explodes into a shapeless figure with two glowing yellow eyes, and from it's depths, a voice booms, "There is no escape for you," As it continues to expand. I draw a sharp breath, and stumble backwards, my eyes expanding further. The figure continues. "It's a pleasure to meet you. We are the League of Villains. I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello. And besides, isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the Symbol of Peace, to take his last breath?"

Whimpers, gasps, and murmurs of fear arise from the class.

"I believe he was supposed to be here today, and yet I see no sign of him. There must of been some change in plans we could not have foreseen. Ah, well... in the end, I suppose it doesn't matter. I still have a role to play!" His dark, wispy body expands around us like the wings of a massive bird.

Thirteen raises their hand, but before they can use their power to attack, something happens.

Bakugou and Kirishima explode from the crowd and fly at the villain, letting out a terrific battle cry.

"Bakugou, no!!" I scream, reaching for him as he throws himself into an impending danger. A massive explosion rips through the once peaceful air, throwing debris, smoke, and rubble our way. The smoke clears around the boys, who so far are unharmed.

"Did you think we were just gonna stand by and let you tear this place to shreds??" Kirishima asks, his arms crossed in an "X" before him.

The smoke flies away, revealing a very angry, surprisingly unharmed, villain. "You live up to your school's reputation, but you should be careful, children..." He says, taking shape once again. A shiny piece of metal surrounds his neck. "Otherwise, someone might get hurt."

"You two... get out of the way, right now!!" Thirteen yells.

"Bakugou, Kirishima, get over here!!" I rush forwards and grab Bakugou's arm, tears now falling from my eyes and slipping across my cheeks.

"I'll scatter you across this facility, to meet my comrades, and your deaths!!"

The shadow-man's body expands, tendrils of darkness reaching like claws around the class. In a mere few seconds, we're surrounded by a swirling cesspool of black. The mist blocks our vision, and nearly knocks us over.

I can suddenly feel my stance being pulled apart, and I trip backwards from the sheer force of the purple wind. My feet leave the ground, followed by the rest of my body. I scream, and grip Bakugou's hand harder than ever before. Though he's blinded by the darkness, he manages to grab my hand, and pulls my body towards himself. "Crap, don't let go!!" I scream, my body floating mid-air as if gravity itself were non-existent. Although Bakugou grips my forearms as tight as he possibly can, the winds that push and pull against us are unbearably strong, and the sheer force of their velocity begins to pull us apart. I scramble to regain my hold on my only hope, my saving grace, but it's useless in the end. My hands are inevitably torn from Bakugou's, and I begin to fly towards the portal that leads to an unknown destination. The force rips an object from my tool belt, and it rolls to a stop on the unreachable ground below myself.

Bakugou's deep crimson orbs seem to flee from the expanding whites of his eyes. He stumbles forwards, his mouth flying open as he screams a cry of protest in a futile attempt to bring me back down to the ground.

"Goddammit, No!! Y/N!!"

(Y/N's P.O.V)

The world rushes by in a blur and I just know that pain is coming. It goes by fast, yet slow, almost suspended. There is a scream from deep within that forces its way from my mouth, as if my terrified soul has unleashed a demon. My body twirls and jerks as I fall. The wind in my face makes it impossible to breathe as I hurtle towards the rocky ground below. The air pushes against my face and I close my eyes, waiting for the inevitable.

Suddenly, my entire body is swung up in a pair of strong arms, if I'm nothing more than a rag-doll. In a split second, instead of falling, I'm being swept through the air with great speed. "Are you okay, Y/N-Chan?" Momo Yayorozu asks me, her concerned gaze locked onto my quivering form. I swallow hard as she sets me down on the ground, and nod shakily.

"Y-Yes. Thank you, Yaomomo," I say, bowing slightly. She waves a hand in dismissal. "Where are we?" I ask, looking at the scenery around us.

"Well, taking the rocky scenery into account, I'd say we're somewhere in the mountain zone. I--"

"Yaomomo! Y/N-Chan!!" Two figures stumble towards us in the distance, coming closer with each passing moment. They're soon identifiable; it's Kaminari and Jiro. The two stop, panting, in front of us, sweat dripping down their faces.

"Kaminari, Jiro!" Momo gasps as the two stop, panting, beside us. "Are you two alright?"

Jiro nods, her earphones floating nervously in the air beside her. "We're fine, but we--"

"--Fine?? Psh, barely!! We ran into a villain or two when we warped here, but we ran from them until we could find backup!" Kaminari bursts, his crazy yellow hair flying into his face.

"You mean YOU ran away, and I had to follow because I can't beat those thugs by myself," Jiro raises a brow, placing her hands on her hips. She looks incredibly stressed, but she hides it well. She opens her mouth to continue, but stops when many shadowy purple, vortex-like portals open in a wide circle around the four of us. Slowly, a variety of villains climb from the darkness, each and every one of them possessing a grin so maniacal they'd strike fear into the very bravest hero's heart. Immediately, they rush at us, showing off their flashy powers.

Momo jumps into action, tossing Jiro a long, katana-like blade. I briefly wonder where in the world she got that from, but when she pulls a long metal pole from her midsection, my curiosity ceases to exist. That must be her Quirk... I note. The villains close in, but Yaomomo, Jiro, and I are prepared.

With an audible thwack, I swipe a villain off of his feet and slam my tail into his chest, knocking him to the ground, and into unconsciousness, and begin to battle another whose arm is completely covered in sharp blades. Jiro battles a man twice her size, fighting him off with her blade, and Momo goes as far as hitting a man as hard as she can over the head with her pipe.

Kaminari, on the other hand, tries his best to dodge and run from as many guys as he can. When a huge, burly man swipes at him, he screams and immediately stumbles away, his hands covering his head. "These dudes are terrifying!!" He shouts, "My whole life just flashed before my eyes, I think I saw the Grim Reaper!! What's going on?!"

Jiro pushes the man away from herself. "Could you maybe take it down a few notches??" She says, glaring at Kaminari.

"Right now, we need to focus on getting away from these enemies!" Momo says, looking over the sea of villains that now stand in front of us.

"Then pull out a weapon for me, too!" Kaminari says.

"You're the one with electrical powers!" Jiro snaps, looking away. "Just zap 'em so we can run!"

"Were you not paying attention during combat training?! Some partner you were!" Kaminari cries, offended, "I can cover my body with electricity, but if I try to shoot it out it'll go everywhere! I'd take you guys down along with them! Or did you want shock treatment today?!" He holds up his hand, sparking bolts of electricity across his palm. The action reminds me of Bakugou, and I frown.

"Well, can't you at least try calling for help like Aizawa told you to??" I snap, clenching my fists.

"I can't! There's still interference jamming the signal. I'm counting on you three! I'm no help in this situation. You've gotta get us outta here, please!" Kaminari explains worriedly.

"You're a real damsel in distress, aren't you?" Jiro asks, shooting him an angry glare.

"Wha--" Kaminari begins to protest, but is cut off when a man with muscular arms and a strange metal piece covering his face swings a punch at him. He yelps in surprise and stumbles out of the way.

"New idea!" Jiro shouts, slamming her foot into Kaminari's back. He falls back towards the villain. "You're my new human stun-gun!!"

"Seriously?! Come o--" He slams face-first into the villain. Immediately, the crackling sound of electricity fills the air, and the bulky man begins to convulse with the power running through his body. "Woah, this is working! I'm super strong!! Sit back you three, you can count on me!" Kaminari says, throwing a thumbs-up our way.

"You are exhausting!" Jiro says, palming her own face. She gasps as another villain jumps at Kaminari.

"Try electrocuting solid rock, kid!!" The man yells as he begins to activate his quirk. His arm stretches out into a long, thin tube. In his hand is a solid ball of rock. He throws his hand forwards, sending the giant boulder towards Kaminari. Jiro doesn't skip a beat as she steps forwards, takes one of her earphones, and plugs it into her own shoe. Warbling tones fill the air in the form of a shockwave, rumbling throughout the earth towards the opposing villain. The boulder in his hand trembles, shakes, and explodes into pieces. The villain, unable to stop himself, accidentally pushes his hand into Kaminari's face, and the electricity spreads to his body as well.

My heart skips a beat as a villain moves towards me from the crowd, yelling angrily. He throws his leg forwards in an attempted kick. Immediately, I wrap my tail around his ankle and slam him into the ground, where he then goes tumbling into Kaminari.

A strange net envelopes a villain that flies from the air above the electrical boy, and he falls right into Kaminari. "Holy shit, this is really convenient!" I shout, stepping back.

"You're lucky that worked out so well, Jiro!" Momo says, looking at the violet-haired girl.

"I'm sorry. Next time I'll ask before saving our butts," Jiro retorts sarcastically. The electricity around Kaminari fades away, leaving the villains affected by it to fall onto the rocky terrain below their feet. Jiro steps forwards again, and another wave of explosively loud sounds erupt from the ground below her boots. A high-pitched ringing tone accompanies the blasting power, getting higher and higher in amplitude as it goes on. The villains in the way of her Quirk begin to scream, covering their ears as if it'd help them. "Dammit, Kaminari... You couldn't have asked for some kind of aiming gear when you put in your costume request form?! I mean, come on!!"

A villain comes at her from above, and she barely misses him. He lands directly behind her, and is immediately knocked to the ground by Momo. "It's ready!" She grunts, bending down. Her shirt begins to expand from her back, the fabric stretching until it's unable to anymore."It takes me a little longer... To create an object this big!!" The beautiful red fabric rips from the force as an enormous gray tarp explodes from her back.

I yelp as the heavy tarp falls over the Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and I, enveloping us in darkness.

"A blanket?" I can hear a villain say.

"Is it supposed to be a shield??" Another asks mockingly.

Yayorozu lifts the edge of the tarp, allowing light to stream in from the outside world. "You're looking at a sheet of insulation one-hundred millimeters thick!" She says with a smug grin. "Go, Kaminari!!"

"Heh. Badass," Kaminari says, grinning as he wipes away a streak of blood that flows from his nose. He lifts his arms into the air as the yellow bolts of lightning return, surrounding his entire body in their crackling glory. "Now I don't have to worry about hurting my friends!! You guys are fried!!" He throws his hands towards the ground, sending thousands of volts into the mountain villains' bodies. The sound of screaming fills the air as the volts fly upwards, crackling into the air as they disperse.

"Way to go, Kaminari!!" I holler, throwing a fist into the air. Ribbons of smoke float from the bodies of the villains as they twitch and convulse, unable to move from the shock.

It's only now that I realize the integrity of Yaoyorozu's shirt. It seems that in creating the tarp covering our bodies, Momo didn't take into account the fact that her breasts would be completely exposed afterwards. Her bodacious chest is now open for the entire world to see, and she doesn't seem to care one bit. "Now," She says, looking out upon the mountain. "I'm worried about the rest of our class. We should find them, right away."

"U-Uh... Yaomomo...?" I ask quietly, pointing at her bare chest. "Y-You're, uh--"

"--Y-You're looking a little overexposed right now!!" Jiro exclaims, covering her mouth.

Momo turns to look at her, a smile on her face. "Huh? Oh, I can make some new clothes," She says nonchalantly. It doesn't stop Jiro's face from exploding into embarrassed shades of red. She glances up as a certain boy steps forwards, and cries, "Kaminari! Don't you dare look!!" As she wraps her entire body around Momo in an attempt to hide her.

Kaminari doesn't respond, he only giggles quietly. "Guys?" I ask, pointing to the boy, "I think something's up with Kaminari."

The yellow-haired boy stumbles around in a daze, giggling with both thumbs in the air in front of him. His nose bleeds and he drools on himself, babbling incoherently and laughing like an idiot. Yaoyorozu steps behind a rock, and when she comes back out, her outfit is restored. "See?" She asks Jiro, "Good as new!"

A hand explodes from the rock behind us, and is followed by the body of a previously unnoticed villain.
