Rewrite Part Five

Logan's perspective

"Thank you for the book. I enjoyed reading it." I said handing the book back to librarian having finished reading it in the few hours I was there. What can I say? I read fast.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, Logan. Now, you run along! Don't want to get in trouble with your folks, now do ya?" asked the librarian as she started closing up. Her daughter had gone home because she had homework, so the left the librarian to close up on her own.

"No, I would not enjoy getting grounded. On that note, I will now take my leave. Goodbye." I stated as I turned around and started heading to the door.

"So long, Logan. Come back soon!" Called the librarian, Jerilyn.

"I will." I responded as I opened the door, and stepped into the bitter cold of the night. I shivered and zipped up my jacket, trying to conserve as much body heat as I could. I waited at the bus stop. When the bus finally came, I checked my watch. 7:42. I had to be back by 8:00. I have time, I thought to myself as the bus started moving forward, away from my favorite place in the entire world.

..............................................................................

"Oh, this is my stop!" I stated a little loudly so the driver would know that he had to stop here. He pulled into the bus stop and, after I thanked the driver, I hopped off. I walked towards my house and I checked my watch again. 7:53.

I unlocked the door with my key and walked in. My parents were still not home, but I walked in and went over to the timer in the kitchen and started it. I did that because I have to do it every day so my parents would know how long I had been home. I came up with it. That way I was allowed to go outside and they don't have to be breathing on my neck.

After that I walked up the stairs to my room, set my bag down, and layed down onto my bed. I was tired having stayed up the whole night to finish all my homework and upcoming projects. I looked around my room at my desk with a little lamp, giving light to my discarded science fair ideas and ripped up pieces of paper where I had once wrote down my feelings for him, then torn it up hoping to do the same with my real feelings. I averted my eyes, not wanting to deal with those emotions at that moment.

My eyes landed on my old books, which I had finished reading a long time ago, but kept so I could read them again. I looked at my bookshelf with even more books. Most of my books were focused on Astrology, which fascinated me for no reason in particular. One reason I liked them was that they gave me an "educational" reason to look at the stars. Otherwise, my parents would not approve of my habit of watching the small lights that hung in the sky.

Usually, I would take this time before my parents come home to write down the events of my day in case I would like to write an autobiography in the future or something fascinating happened in my life that would be important for the next generation. And that day was no different. I sat up from the warmth and comfort of my bed and walked over to my desk. I grabbed my notebook and wrote this:

Thursday, March 7, 2019

-Someone stepped on my shoes

-Bumped into a boy named Patton

-Different feelings for Patton then what is considered normal

-How do I deal with these feelings? Ignore them.

-Tutoring job

-Finished new library book

-Came home

And them I stopped. I scanned the list again, then closed my notebook. Nothing really important happened today, I thought to myself. Or so I thought.
