Toni crossed one leg over the other as she gazed at the two adults in front of her. She knew both of them quite well; Maria Hill and Nicholas Fury, the two remaining SHIELD agents. SHIELD had collapsed around the time Toni was born, along with the Avengers. She never bothered asking her father why everything had collapsed, not like her dad would care. He was always building things. 

"What do you two want? I wanna eat my pizza already, thank you very much," she said curtly, giving them hard stares. Maria watched the teen with a chuckle and a shake of her head. 

"We're here because we need your help," Nick said, leaning forward. Toni had heard from her father that Nick tried to be intimidating when really he just wasn't.

"Eyepatches really aren't in style, bro. Unless you're going for a pirate look." Toni snorted at her own joke, crossing her arms over her chest. "I mean, if you are, then great!  You're nailing it."

"Talin Harrison. I trust you've heard of him." Maria's tone was clipped and fast as if she had somewhere to be. And Toni didn't put it past her; the old woman probably had some knitting class to get to.

"Uh, yeah. He's all over the news!" Toni rolled her eyes, examining her fingernails.

"So you know that he aims to take over the world. Which we want you and a team of people to keep him from doing."

Toni immediately leaned forward at that, uncrossing her arms. "You mean to tell me you're just going to redo the Avengers another time? The first time failed, so the second time shouldn't be any better. Just saying."

"This is no time for jokes, Miss Stark." Nick gave her a look, then called up a hologram. It depicted a set of twins, a girl and a boy. The girl was moving her fingers, objects around her floating in midair. They were all surrounded by this silver mist, spinning slowly. Her eyes were the same color of silver, as were the boy's eyes. He was standing in front of another man, telling him his thoughts as if he were reading from a book.

"Emilia and Emmett Maximoff, Silver Witch and Silver Wiccan. Telekinesis and telepathy," Maria explained, expression unchanging. The hologram then changed to show a girl wearing armor, her blonde hair thrown back in heavy wind as she spun a heavy hammer in one hand, hurtling it at a door. It burst open easily.

"Asta Thorsdottir, Lady Thor," Nick explained, a proud grin on his face. He almost looked like a proud grandfather at his grandchildren's recital.

The hologram changed again to show a brunette aiming several arrows, all nocked on a bow, at several targets. Focused, she then let go, each arrow spreading out. They all landed with a heavy thud in each target. Each arrow was directly in the center. "Artemis Barton, the second Hawkeye," Maria chirped, as the hologram changed once more.

This time, it was a blond boy, running through an army training course. He went through each set of things with ease, a focused expression on his face. Toni's eyes narrowed. She already knew who this was. "David Rogers, Captain Legend." Nick's voice sounded extra-proud at the mention of David. 

Toni grit her teeth. "Why don't you just let David lead your team, huh?" She asked in a tense tone, glaring at the adults. They just had to bring David up, didn't they? She thought she had dropped him and left him behind, never to see him again. 

"Because David doesn't know how to lead. You do." Maria gave her a curt smile. "You are more fit to lead a team than he is. All of us here know that."

"What if I don't wanna lead this dumb team? What if I'd rather just go home and eat my pizza and work with my dad for the rest of my life?"

"Your dad is married to his work, Miss Stark. He never lets you step foot in his lab and you know that. It would be good for you to get out and meet more people, to join this team." Unfortunately, Nick was right. Too right. Toni couldn't even remember the last time she had seen her father.

"Fine. I'll join your stupid team. One one condition: David doesn't come near me."

"Deal."
