Chapter 4: Lights Out

Hi, everyone!  SylveonKwami here.  So, sorry about not updating yesterday as planned... I had a day trip and it (as the name suggests) took up most of my day, and I didn't have time to update.  So, I'll update now!  YAY.  As a gift, this chapter is extra long!

Well, where were we???

 Oh yeah, Ladybug died.

JUST KIDDING!!!

I'll start the story now.

Enjoy BD

Chat Noir / Adrien

"LADYBUG!" he screamed as the akumatized victim threw her at the ground.  He ran over to her and shook her shoulders, but it was no use.  She was knocked out cold.  Quickly, he checked to see if she was breathing, and was relieved to see her take a raspy breath.  Growling, he looked back at the villain, eyes burning with green fire.

"Y O U  A R E  G O I N G  T O  R E G R E T  D O I N G  T H A T."

Extending his staff with a battle cry, he launched himself at the villain, but Shrinkanator dodged easily, an amused grin on his face.

"I'd say the same thing to you," he responded, smirking at Chat.  He growled harder.

"Don't you dare touch Ladybug!" he yelled again, trying to hit his opponent.  But, to his dismay, he was just not fast enough.  The akumatized victim dodged all of his hits.  He knew he had to do something, and quick.  And with Ladybug's Lucky Charm unusable for now, he would have to do it.

"CATACLYSM!" he yelled, extending his hand into the air.  He saw black energy circle his hand, and he closed his  fist to grab it.  He looked back at the villain, who was laughing at him, as if he made a terrible mistake.

I want to use it on his face, but My Lady wouldn't be happy with me...

While dodging Shrinkanator's attacks, Chat tried to spot an object where he could have gotten akumatized from.  There was a belt he was wearing, which was one of the only visible item on him.  There, Chat thought smugly.  He launched his Cataclysm at it, but he missed and hit a nearby bush, which disintegrated into a pile of black dust.  Frustrated with himself, he prepared to leap out and try again-

"Ch-Chat?"

Chat turned around to find Ladybug trying to sit up.  He quickly ran over to the love of his life and offered his hand to help her up.  She gladly accepted it, allowing him to pull her up.

"How are you feeling, My Lady?" he asked her, concern showing in his eyes.

"I'm fine," Ladybug said reassuringly.  "Ready to kick some akuma butt."

Chat smiled at his lady's joke.  She is truly amazing-

"You guys made some stupid mistakes."

Chat adjusted his gaze to behind Ladybug, where Shrinkanator was aiming his ray at them... no, aiming it at Ladybug.  He screamed, wanting to protect his lady at all costs.

In Chat's view, it all happened in slow motion.

He saw the ray fire at them.

He moved and shoved Ladybug out of the way.

She tried to push him out of the way, but then the ray hit him.

He felt a pain that was so bad he couldn't describe it.

He felt himself being thrown backwards, into Ladybug.

He felt himself hit some odd surface.

He didn't feel anything after that.

Uh, my head...

Chat sat up, shaking his head a little to cure his nausea.  He still felt like puking, but it was less than before.  He looked around, trying to remember what happened.

I helped Ladybug stand and then the akuma aimed a shrink ray at us but then I took the hit instead of-

Wait, am I shrunk!?

Sure enough, when he looked around, he could see impossibly tall trees and impossibly tall plants, followed by an impossibly tall akuma, who was standing off to the side looking bored.  Chat's panic grew steadily.  He screamed, yelled out for help.  He put his hands down to steady himself, then stopped himself.

What am I sitting on?

His memory was still foggy.  All he knew was that the surface was smooth, almost like how his suit felt like, yet it was also oddly soft...

Wait, a suit?

He looked down, confirming what he already knew.

Red.  With black spots.

He started blushing like crazy.

I'm on... I'm on... My... Lady's chest... OH SUGAR SPRINKLES AND CAMEMBERT-

"Chat?  Chat, where are you?" he heard Ladybug's voice, which was a little too loud for his ears to handle.  He covered them with his gloved hands, then yelled back to his lady.

"H-H-H-Here," he stuttered, feeling his cheeks go hot.  What did I do to get into this mess?

"Huh?  I can't see- oh."  Chat felt two fingers grab onto his tail, and he yelped when he was lifted up into the air.  He internally sighed.  Of all people, why does it have to be her...

"Aww, Chaton, you look so cute now," Ladybug said while looking at him, giggling a little.  He pouted.

She laughed more.  "Come on, I can see you're just a tiny bit mad.  Don't be upset with me!" Ladybug said innocently.  Chat sighed.  He didn't know whether to be insulted, mad, or happy that his lady made another pun.

"Hmm, what to do with you?  It'd be dangerous for you in a fight," Ladybug inquired, clearly worried about her partner.  Chat felt the need to quickly reassure his lady.

"N-No, Ladybug, I'm fine, see?  Same old me, just fun-sized.  I can still fight!" he desperately hoped that this wasn't being filmed.  Marinette's friend always found a way to post things on her LadyBlog, and he desperately hoped (if there even was anyone there) that this wouldn't make the cut.

Ladybug shook her head, clearly discarding that plan.  "No, Chat, you're in no condition to fight.  After I defeat this akuma, I'll find a way to get you somewhere safe, 'kay?  I mean, you haven't used you Cataclysm yet so you still have some time."  Chat was about to correct his lady when he realized that she had been out when he had used it.  She thought he wasn't going to detransform soon.  He gulped with nervousness.  What if he did transform back into his regular self?  Would Ladybug still want to help him?  He prayed that she would.

Suddenly, he felt himself falling, then he landed on Ladybug's hand.  He scowled at her.  She giggled.  "Sorry, Chat, but it's impossible to seem intimidating at your size," she said, walking somewhere.  She dropped him on a bush with some spiky thorns.  He yelped and clung to a branch, looking at his lady with dismay.  It's not that he didn't have any confidence in her.  No, no- it was the opposite.  He was just worried about her.  He always worried about her.

"Are you kitten me!?" Chat yelled, but Ladybug just started giggling again.  Chat pouted.  I give up...

"You stay right there, Chaton, okay?  Once this battle's over, I'll get you sorted out."

He nodded, watching her launch herself at Shrinkanator.  She was so strong, so brilliant... he found himself being drawn into a love-struck gaze, though he quickly snapped himself out of it.  Come on, Adrien!  Focus!  Hmm, I wonder how many pads I have left-

He looked, and he only had one.  ONE.  Chat gulped as it started beeping, then felt the magic wash off of him as he transformed back into his regular self, Adrien.  The detransformation made him lose his balance, and he fell backwards on a branch, almost hitting himself on a thorn.  When he turned around, he almost screamed at the sight of his now-giant kwami, but he couldn't let Ladybug know he had transformed back.

"P-Plagg!  Don't scare me like that!" he stuttered, flustered.

His kwami sighed.  "Normally, I would ask for some cheese to fill my poor aching stomach," he started dramatically, and Adrien sighed.  "But, this is different.  Looks like you've got yourself into a sticky situation, kid."

Adrien was about to retaliate when he heard his lady's voice.  "Gosh darnit!  Why did he run away?"  Adrien gulped as he felt the vibrations from her footsteps.  She was coming close, to close for Adrien's comfort level right now.

"Chat, you're still there, right?" she said, panicking a little when he didn't answer at first.  "Ch-Chat?  Are you oka-"

"I'm here, M'lady!" he yelled, realizing how odd it was to call Ladybug his lady when he was in his civilian form.

"O-Oh, good.  Shrinkanator got away.  Said something like "his job was done" or something like that.  Chat, if you can come out, we can get you somewhere safe.  I know a girl, she'd be willing to help.  She lives at a bakery.  She-"

"I'll settle this," Plagg said, flying out of the bush before Adrien could stop him.  Great...

"Hi, LB.  Name's Plagg.  Nice ta mee-" Plagg started, but was interrupted by Ladybug.

"Chat?  Y-You transformed back?  O-Oh.  Sorry, Chat, I can't help.  We can't reveal our identities," Ladybug said sadly.

"Wh-What?  My Lady, please, you can't leave me all alone out here, I-I'm scared, please..." Adrien begged as his voice faded out.  It's not that he was scared of living outside.  He was scared he was about to lose his best friend.

"Sorry, Chat.  Maybe... maybe get some food for you kwami, then meet back here tomorrow morning, transformed of course.  I'll be waiting for you.  If- oh, it's raining," she added suddenly, holding her hand out.  "Sorry, I have to go.  My parents will notice something if I come home wet," she said sadly.

"B-But, remember what I said before!  You're... you're my light, My Lady!  Please... please don't leave me alone out in the rain... please..." he felt some tears fall down his face.  The lights couldn't be going out, they just couldn't.

Ladybug shook her head.  "Sorry, Chaton... I'll see you tomorrow, though!" she said brightly as she ran away.  Adrien, meanwhile, was left in tears.

"Hey, kid, I'm sorry," Plagg apologized, trying to search for him in the bush.  Adrien, meanwhile, was not having it.

I need to be alone right now, he thought, crawling silently out of the bush so that Plagg wouldn't hear nor see him.  Once he was sure that his kwami had not caught him escaping, he ran away from the battlefield.  He didn't know how long he was running for, only that he wanted shelter when he stopped.  After about ten straight minutes of running, he came across a park bench, with tiny slits in it's wood.  He forced himself under it, shivering a little from cold.

My Lady, why did you abandon me?

I know why.

I'm not worth it.

Father was right.

He didn't sleep, he didn't eat, he just sat there for forever, crying to himself because no one, not even the love of his life, wanted him.  No one cared that much about him.  No one, no one, cared enough to help him.

Tears danced down his cheeks.

The lights, truly, went out that night.

Woah, okay!  That's it!  I did promise a long chapter, didn't I?  This is long, I guess.  Well, at least longer than the previous ones.

Jeez, Marinette, why?  Why didn't you help the poor, crying kitten?  And from the rain.  The rain makes it worse.  Marinette.  SHAME.

Tikki: DON'T WORRY I WILL GIVE HER A LECTURE :D

Okay, that's really everything.  I hope you enjoyed!  Again, sorry for not updating in time.  I got really busy, but I will try (key word being try) to update on time on the next update day.  Until then...

Stay tuned ;)
