Chapter 25: More Than An Award
Hi everyone!! SylveonKwami here.
Yes.. this is the final chapter.
I know.
I'll say more at the end, but a big thank-you to everyone who has been supporting this story. Really.
Now, I won't waste time at the beginning. For the last time, I hope you enjoy!!
Adrien
Adrien blinked his eyes, the sunlight being a little too bright at the moment. He sat up, knowing his hair was all messy from sleep.
He looked next to him, and smiled. There was Marinette, who had decided to stay the night with him so he would be okay. She looked peaceful and serene, a smile on her face as she slept. Adrien pushed a lock of hair away from her face, smiling as he did so. Beautiful.
"About time you woke up." Adrien turned to see his kwami hovering toward him. "It's like ten o'clock."
Adrien got out of bed and rubbed his eyes. "So?"
"Adrien, the ceremony starts in an hour!" Tikki flew close, her voice anxious.
All at once, Adrien's heart-rate spiked. "O-One hour!?" Quickly, he rushed to Marinette and gently shook her shoulder. "Mari, we need to wake up," he whispered urgently.
"F-Five more minutes," she groaned, turning over.
"Princess, we have to be at the ceremony in an hour," he said.
Marinette woke with a start and almost flung herself out of bed in the impact. "Oh sweet glaze on a cinnamon roll, we have to get ready!"
Adrien had to stop himself from laughing at Marinette's adorable curse. "But.. can we? I mean, aren't we just transforming into our regular costumes?"
"No," Plagg stated. "Now, if you two would please do us a favour and clean yourselves up, me and Tikki can explain."
With no time to question Plagg's statement, Adrien quickly rushed to his bathroom and brushed his teeth at lightning speed. He gave his hair a quick brush, then practically ran out to let Marinette have the space to herself. She came out a couple minutes later, her hair in a neat bun. I couldn't help it, I blushed a little when I saw her.
Marinette noticed and looked shy. "Is it... is it bad?"
I shook my head. "Quite the opposite, Princess. You should wear your hair that way more often."
"Oh, quiet you two!" Plagg complained. "You don't have much time, and I doubt either of you will be having breakfast-"
"We'll just snack on the buffet there," Adrien interrupted. "There is a buffet, right-"
"Oh, for the love of Camembert, could you please stop talking!?" Plagg fumed, putting an emphasis on the word 'please'. Adrien shut his mouth, letting his kwami continue. "Me and Tikki went to Master Fu to receive special transformation items."
As the black-cat kwami said that, Tikki brought out a gold-coloured macaron and piece of Camembert cheese. "It's like a power-up, only different," Tikki explained. "We'll take them now, then you two should transform, got it?"
Both of the teenagers nodded, and watched their kwamis do a transformation. They looked virtually the same afterward, and Adrien couldn't see the point of it.
Marinette seemed to be equally confused. "But why-"
"Just transform," Tikki said reassuringly. "You'll understand."
Marinette nodded, then looked at Adrien. "Ready?"
Adrien nodded reassuringly. "Ready. Plagg, Claws Out!"
"Tikki, Spots On!"
Lights flashed around the pair, and when it faded, they looked at each other in complete shock.
This... this was not what they were expecting.
Adrien looked down at himself; his usual transformation was replaced with a formal black suit, though he still had his tail and ears. He looked in a nearby mirror, and his mask was still there, though it was bigger; almost like a masquerade mask. His eyes were still green though, and he like the fit of the suit. Not bad, Plagg.
He turned to Ladybug, and he felt all the breath leave his body.
Ladybug was in a beautiful long layered dress. The bodice had a sweetheart neckline, and was strapless. It was red and covered in her signature black polka dots, and went all the way down to her waist where her yo-yo still sat. The skirt was slim, but Chat knew that if she spinned, it would fly outwards beautifully. Each layer was translucent (except for the bottom layer of course), and had more polka dots and pearls and other embellishments of the sort. She wore long dark red gloves on her arms, similar to the short white ones that Chat wore on his hands. Her shoes were fancy dark red sandals, and her mask was also masquerade-style like his own.
Ladybug blushed again. "So... what do you think, Adrien?"
Chat smiled, then walked up and took her hand. He bowed, then winked. "Beautiful as ever, M'lady."
She giggled. "Handsome as ever, my Chaton."
The two of them walked downstairs while miraculously avoiding Natalie. They left the mansion, and seeing as they couldn't mess up their nice clothes, decided to walk on the streets to get to the Eiffel Tower. Many of the passerby's eyes were on them, and Chat started to feel nervous as everyone started to watch him and Ladybug make their way to their award ceremony.
"We've certainly got a lot of eyes on us, huh?" he commented on the way there.
She nodded. "Yeah... we've hardly made an appearance since we.. er, that night, and nobody's ever seen us in these clothes before," she said. "Hey.. Chat... you are ready for this, right? Because even thought he mayor wants us there, we can leave as soon as you want to."
Chat nodded. "I... I'm fine," he said curtly. He didn't want to talk about it anymore; his nerves were building up, and that never ended in something good.
Take his father for instance.
Ladybug nodded, though he could tell that she wasn't sure of his answer. The two of them continued their walk, Ladybug occasionally pointing out some things and him smiling and nodding.
Eventually they made their way to their destination, and to their surprise, there was a decent-sized crowd of people gathered at the base of the tower. To Chat's delight, there was a small buffet, so he pulled Ladybug toward it as quickly as he could. As soon as they got there, he took a small croissant and stuffed it in his mouth. He caught Ladybug staring at him and his ears drooped. "Hey, I'm just hungry," he mumbled between bites.
She smiled, then took one herself. "Me too," she said, taking a bite of the buttery pastry.
Chat could feel more people's eyes on him as he ate the croissant, making his nerves build.
"Are the pastries good?" Ladybug asked happily.
Chat nodded. "They're-"
Suddenly, the mayor ran up to them. "Are you two ready?"
Ladybug sighed. "Can we have a couple minutes? Me and my partner here want to have a quick bite to eat."
The mayor nodded quickly and ran off. "Of course of course, take your time."
Ladybug smiled and turned back to Chat. "What was it you were saying?"
Chat's tail perked up. "I was just saying that they're delicious, M'lady."
Ladybug took another bite of the croissant. "Oh, that's good. I heard my parents made these..."
Ladybug probably continued her sentence, but Chat's head was in a different place.
Croissants..
Mom.. Father...
Parents..
Gone..
Me...
Gone.. me.. because..
Because of me.

"Chat, are you-" Ladybug's breath hitched as she saw her partner collapse, his eyes wild. She rushed toward him, trying to calm him down. "Hey hey, look at me."
Chat tried, he really did, but all he could see was the crowd of people looking at him. No one knows that I murdered my own father. They see me as a hero. If they knew the truth..
They'd see I'm no hero.
He didn't know what happened next, but suddenly, he was vaulting over rooftops in an attempt to leave. He didn't know where he was going or how far, but when he landed and saw the Eiffel Tower looking tiny in the distance, he realized he must have gone quite far. He sat down, hopelessly lost, literally and emotionally.
A couple moments later, he heard two feet plop down on the rooftop beside him, and he knew it was Ladybug before looking.
She was silent, just sat next to him. "Minou, what happened back there?"
He buried his head in his hands. "No one out there knows what I really did. I killed my own father... that's a horrible crime. If they all knew the truth they would see I'm no hero."
He felt Ladybug's reassuring hand on his back. "But Chaton, you were at least brave enough to realize that your father had to be stopped, and that he was dangerous. What you did was a bit extreme, but... it was the right thing to do. You stopped him... things could have gone much worse. You conquered your own emotions. If that's not heroic, I don't know what is," Ladybug said with a smile.
"However.. I'm not going to force you to do anything. If you don't want to go back, I'll stand by you," she added. "It's one-hundred-percent your decision."
"Th-Thank you," Chat sniffled. "I want to go home so badly... but if you're there, I think I can do it."
"Really?" Ladybug seemed a little bit shocked, but ready.
Chat nodded, then stood up. "I'm ready. Let's go."
Ladybug stood up as well, readying her yo-yo. "Of course."
Chat looked at her with disappointment; a few locks of her hair had come loose from her bun, and her dress was a little ruffled. "Your clothes got messed up because of me."
She waved it off. "I'm Ladybug, aren't I? It's only natural." She gave him a sly smile and tossed her yo-yo. "Ready?"
Chat extended his baton. "Always."
Just like it always happened, the two of them swung off toward the Eiffel Tower and the biggest accomplishment in their lives so far. Side by side, the citizens of Paris watched as the two heroes flew across the city, landing near the base of the Eiffel Tower where the mayor was waiting crossly.
"Oh, so you're here! Finally, we can begin." Chat was a little taken back by the mayor's tone, but Lady's firm but reassuring grip on his hand helped him get through it.
"Citizens of Paris, for their accomplishments, it is my honour to give our heroes, Ladybug and Chat Noir, a key to the city. Please give them a warm round of applause," the mayor said, handing them a giant fake key. "Thank you for your service," he whispered to them. "I hope you'll be staying with us."
"Wherever the trouble is, we'll be there," Ladybug answered. "Whether that's here or elsewhere, you bet Ladybug and Chat Noir will be there to end it."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Mayor," Chat said kindly.
"Y-Yes, thank you," Ladybug said a little flustered, remembering that she forgot to say it earlier.

"IT'S PARTY TIME!" someone shouted, and almost at once, extremely loud dance music started.
Both heroes leaped down from the stage, accepting kind words from many of the citizens. After a while, the pair spotted a bunch of their classmates, and they decided to approach them. The group's eyes lit up and they seemed happy to see the heroes stop by.
"Adr- er, Chat Noir," Nino said, hastily fixing his mistake. "We were so worried about you."
Chat looked downward. "I... I know. I'm sorry I didn't talk to you guys, I just wasn't ready for it. I hope you can forgive me."
Everyone's eyes were warm as they gazed at him. "Of course," Alya said. "That's natural. Is.. is everything okay now?"
For the first time today, Chat was actually sure of himself as he nodded. "I think so."
"That's good," Chloe said happily. "Now, what are we standing around for? Let's dance!"
Excitedly, the group burst apart and everyone started dancing. Chat laughed as Ladybug pulled him in to dance to the song's beat, and he smiled as he spun her around; as he predicted, the dress's many layers floated around her as she spun.
Chat didn't know how long they were all there for, but eventually someone shouted "Hey! You two should kiss!" Eventually, all Chat heard was an infinite amount of cheers from the crowd telling them to kiss. He eyed Ladybug, who was looking at him back. "What do you say, M'lady?"
She smiled. "Let's give the crowd what they want." She pulled him in close and embraced him, her lips meeting with his. He hugged her tenderly, his mind filled with so many different emotions, but one prevailed against all; happiness. Sweet, pure, innocent happiness. He couldn't remember the last time he felt it, but oh boy did it feel good.
"I'm so proud of you, Chaton," Ladybug whispered around the kiss. "I love you so, so much."
"I love you too," he whispered. "Thank you for everything."
She didn't answer, but he didn't need her to. He already knew.
....and that's it.
Thank you all so, so much for supporting me on this story. Writing this has been a whole new journey for me, and since August last year when this story started, it's been a whole roller-coaster.
Thank you especially to JDizzle149, aronos2, RahulKalosChamp, MessilyMiraculous, and ZelTheWeavile for voting and being loyal readers. This book wouldn't be the same without you all, so thank you.
I hope you all enjoyed not just this chapter, but the entire story. I never expected this story to get this far, so thank you to you all from the bottom of my heart for achieving the impossible.
If you like the story, this won't be the last Miraculous content you see from me. You've heard me mention my Miraculous OC story several times in this book, and I've even posted a picture. I've said that book is scheduled for around October; that should stay relatively the same. Keep tabs on my profile for more updates about it, if you're interested.
But yeah, like I said, that's it. Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!! :')
