Chapter 6: Interesting Invitations

Over the next few days, we fall into a routine of sorts. Nathan, Kota, or Luke would come over and hang out with me and the twins, and when I would go out to the track, either Nathan or Kota would watch them. Luke was always at the diner whenever I went, but he'd usually show up some time after I got home. Luke's uncle actually owns the diner the guys work at, so him and his brother North, who I haven't met yet, tend to work there more than the others.

It's now Friday, and I'm at the track kicking Brandon's ass while Kota is watching the twins. We've just finished our last race, where he almost beat me, when I see his look alike come into the pit with Marc. Brandon climbs out of his car and walks over to his doppelganger and starts talking to him after he takes his helmet off.

Am I inhaling too many exhaust fumes or an I actually seeing double?

Getting out of my car, I keep my helmet on and walk up to the group.

"Hey dude, sweet driving. It's good to see someone beat my brother for a change" the doppelganger says to me.

Dude, huh?

I take off my helmet with a smirk, and make sure to shake my hair out all baywatch-like. Proving to him and anyone else, that girls can kick ass in a race and still look hot.

"Sorry, it was getting a little hard to hear in there," I say to Brandon's brother. "You were saying?" I ask with a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

He just stands there looking stunned. Mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. It's actually quite hilarious. I give a little chuckle, while Marc and Brandon bust out laughing.

"Du-du-dude," the brother stutters, "You're not a dude."

"Last I checked." I tell him with a hip pop. "Problem?"

"No, no, no," he says while shaking his head. "No problem at all, it just um, surprised me I guess. I'm sorry."

"Don't be, it happens more often than you think." I tell him.

"Yeah, but it shouldn't." Brandon adds in.

"It's cool. Anyway, I should get going. Nice to meet you doppleganger." I say as I start to walk away.

"Corey!" I hear a voice call out.

I stop and turn around, "Excuse me?" I ask confused.

"Corey." The doppelganger says, "My name."

Not exactly in the right word order, but I'll take it. He's just as hot as his brother, although there's a slight difference in the eyes.

"Sang," I say waving my hand. "See you around."

I'm almost to the changing rooms when I hear footsteps behind me. I turn around and see Marc running up to me.

"Did I forget something?" I ask him.

"No, but I did. There's a NASCAR race on Sunday. Me and Brandon are going with a few of our friends and I thought you might want to come with." He says with a smile.

"Oh, I'm actually already going. I got the tickets right before we came out here. Pretty bad seats though." I say with a frown.

"Well then you're in luck. We have a booth up top. VIP access and everything to meet the racers after."

"That sounds awesome, but I couldn't impose."

"It wouldn't be an imposition, I swear. We want you to come."

"Well I would, but I was planning on bringing my brother and sister with me. We always go to races together."

"They can come too, the more the merrier." He tell me matter of factly.

"Seriously? Oh my god, you're so awesome!" I tell him, jumping into his arms for a hug. He catches me around the waist and swings us around to shift the momentum. "I can't wait to tell them, they will be so excited. Thank you, Marc. Gotta go." I give him a kiss on the cheek and dart into the change room.

VIP access to an official NASCAR race! Moving here is definitely turning out to be better than I expected.

When I get back to the house, I head to the backyard where splashing and laughing can be heard. I walk out of the living room sliding doors to find Kota, Nathan, and Luke, in the pool with the twins playing what looks to be chicken.

"Wow, looks like you guys are having fun!" I call out to them.

This catches the twins attention as they turn on Nathan and Kota's shoulders. They both spot me at the same time and try to wiggle their way out of the boys grips.

"Sang!" They call out in unison. "Let us down! Let us go!"

The boys start laughing as they lower the twins into the water. Once they are free, they swim over to me. Hauling themselves out of the water, they make a mad dash for my legs. My jeans are now completely soaked, but these are the moments I live for with my angels.

Before they get older and don't need me.

"Sang we missed you." Riley tells me.

"But we had fun with Kota, Nate and Lucian too." Carly says cheerfully.

"You're not mad are you?" Riley asks looking worried.

I plant a big smile on my face and get down on my knees to hug them both to me.

"Mad? Why would I be mad?" I ask them, genuinely confused.

I've never given them any reason for them to think that I'd get mad at them for something they've done. Even when they are in trouble, which is rare, I let them know that I am not mad at them and that I love them with all of my heart.

"Because we had fun without you." Carly says while pushing her finger to her lip. A bad habit that she learned from me.

"Of course I'm not mad. I have the boys come over when they can so that you guys don't have to wait for me to have fun. It's ok for you to have fun with them. Just as long as you mind the rules and don't make them uncomfortable. Deal?"

"Deal!" They squeal together.

"Good, now how about you both head inside and get cleaned up and I'll start on dinner?"

"Umm..." they mumble and look anywhere but at me.

"What's wrong?" I ask them.

"I think I can explain that Sang." Kota says while walking over to us.

Nathan and Luke get out of the pool and make their way over to us as well. I stand with the twins and lead them over to the table. I take a seat and place each of them on a leg.

"What's going on?" I ask while looking up at Kota.

"We wanted to thank you, for letting us into your world a bit." Kota tells me.

"And for making us dinner every night." Nathan interjects.

"That too. We can only imagine how hard it must be for you to take care of your siblings and yourself, on your own. We figured as a thank you, we'd invite you three over to our house for dinner tonight and for a sleepover. It doesn't really count for us since we all live there, but at least this way you don't have to take the twins back home after you eat."

"We use to have sleepovers all the time when we were younger. It'd be nice to get some of that feeling back you know?" Luke tells me.

"And the rest of our family really wants to meet you and the twins. They're always wondering where we head off to in the middle of the day." Nathan adds in.

"So what do you say?" Kota asks.

I look at the three of them, standing there above me. They look so hopeful, yet cautious.

They talk to their brothers about us?

But then again, how could they not? I mean they have been spending a lot of time over here recently. I look down at the twins and see them looking up at me with tiny pleading faces. They have really taking a liking to the boys. If the rest of their family is like them, then I can only imagine how well we'd all get along. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let them in a little. Even if it is just this one sleepover.

"Ok, let me get an overnight bag for us and we'll meet you there." I tell them with a small smile.

"Really?" The twins ask while looking up at me.

I grin down at them and reply, "Yes really. Now go inside and get washed up so we can get there faster." I say tickling them.

"Yay! We love you sissy. Thank you."

"I love you too."
