I Laugh remembering Jungkook's words from 10 years ago. ' you are a good boy. an Innocent soul' Look what has happened to that innocent soul now? I am no longer the good boy he used to love. I am a businessman. the type he used to hate. the egoistic, narcissistic type.
" look what has happened to your Taehyungie now," I say emptily while looking at the ceiling. As I am about to close my eyes to sleep, I hear a soft melody being sung. Immediately recognizing the voice, I get lost in the beautiful and soft variations of the deep voice.
No limit in the sky I won't fly for you~
No amount of tears in my eyes I won't cry for you~
With every breath
That I take~
I want you to share that air with me~
There's no promise that I won't keep ~
I'll climb a mountain
There's none too steep~
When it comes to you,
There's no crime~
Let's take both of our souls
And intertwine~
the voice holds so much pain and love, that it made me forget the situation for a few seconds. snapping out of my daze as he stops singing, I look at the time. it was 2 a.m. It's been hours since I came into my bedroom to sleep and sleep is still far from my eyes. I sigh and open the drawer beside my bed. taking out some sleeping pills, I swallow them with water and lay down, closing my eyes. Sleep engulfs me a few minutes later and my body relaxes.

I wake up the next morning and freshen up before going to my living room and taking my phone with me. I eat something small, not really having an appetite. I wear a black coat on a navy blue t-shirt and trousers of the same colour, take my wallet and keys, and lock the door. walking outside, I see yoongi and jungkook sitting in their garden, chatting.
yoongi is in his night dress while jungkook is in a black hoodie. I always loved him in black hoodies. he looked so cuddly. shaking off my thoughts, I walk up to my car and open the door. I try to start the car, but it does not budge. the engine is quiet. I try again but it is of no use. After trying for a few more times, I give up and get down.
I take a deep breath, trying to be calm and not get frustrated, and call the mechanic. fuck this! the mechanic is not answering the phone. I rest my weight on the car while thinking of a way to fix the car myself since I don't know shit about fixing cars and the mechanic is not answering.
suddenly, I see jungkook walk up to me. I nervously look at him to realize that he looks very different from how he looked 10 years ago. he looks more mature and handsome. but he also looks very worn out and tired. he has dark spots under his eyes and his skin is stressed. his lips are dry and he has a few scars on his face.
he quietly asks me, " I can fix the car if you want." his voice is very quiet and soft, unlike the confident voice I was used to hearing. I nod at him and step away from the car. he goes back to yoongi's house and brings out a tool kit. he then rolls up his sleeves and opens the engine.
I can't help thinking how hot he looks like that. working with his sleeves rolled up while sweat is adorning his forehead. he works on the engine for about 15 minutes and then closes it. he looks at me and says, "It's done. it'll work now."
I reply, "Thank you" Before I can say something else, he turns away and goes to his house. I see him go inside yoongi's house. I sit in my car and drive to my office. entering my office, I close the cabin door and check today's schedule.
I have nothing important other than a contract signing with one of the companies. it's in the evening. I sit down on my chair and look outside the window. it's the 37th floor so the view is amazing. but I can't focus on that. my mind wanders to Jungkook. 10 years ago. today. everything.
flashback
I had wrapped up classes for the day and was strolling home with Jimin when this sudden urge to see Jungkook hit me like a ton of bricks. So, I swiftly came up with an excuse, veering off in a different direction, leaving poor Jimin to wonder what happened.
Driven by this inexplicable need to find Jungkook again, I found myself retracing yesterday's steps, heading straight to the same alley where we'd crossed paths. My heart was racing as I hoped for a glimpse of him. But, to my utter dismay, the alley was deserted.
Feeling a bit disheartened, I settled down at the exact spot where Jungkook had been fiddling with his bike. Time seemed to crawl by, and just as I was beginning to accept that he might not show up, I spotted a figure in the distance. A guy wearing a black leather jacket, a cap, and a mask.My heart raced as he locked eyes with me and started advancing, sending shivers down my spine.
I hugged myself in fear, uncertain of what was about to happen. He questioned me, "Who are you? What are you doing here, little boy?" My nerves got the best of me, and I remained silent. His approach intensified, and I felt a rising panic as he moved closer.
Then, a voice, authoritative and firm, cut through the tense air, "Han! Don't you dare lay a finger on him!"
I turned to see Jungkook, a few feet away, staring at the man with fierce determination. The man, seemingly taken aback, sneered, "Is this kid yours?"
"Yes, he's mine. It's in your best interest to steer clear. You know the consequences when we interfere with each other's families," Jungkook asserted firmly.
The man backed off, raising his hands in surrender. Relieved, I got up from my seat and rushed to Jungkook, seeking shelter behind him, clutching his jacket tightly. the Han guy walked away and Jungkook turned to me.
He glared at me, his tone laced with concern and anger, "What the fuck are you doing here, Taehyung? This place is dangerous! You should never be alone here. Do you have any idea who that guy was? He's dangerous. It's not safe for you here. Why did you come?"
I lowered my gaze and murmured, "I wanted to see you."
Jungkook sighed giving me a small smile and took hold of my hand. I looked up hoping to meet his eyes but he was scanning our surroundings. Leading me away, we arrived at an alley with a weathered wooden door.
Pushing the door open, Jungkook guided me inside. I trailed behind him, observing our surroundings. It was a living room, with dull grey walls, giving the space a somewhat drab feel. In the center sat a simple couch facing a television. Adjacent to it was a table holding a helmet alongside an intriguing antique box crafted from wood. The box was adorned with crystals, its beauty standing out in the otherwise plain room. At one end of the room, stairs led upward, while on the opposite side, I caught a glimpse of the kitchen.
Jungkook's voice broke the silence, "This is my place."
I nodded in understanding and settled onto the couch. He joined me, continuing, "If you ever need to find me, this is where I'll be. And if I'm not around, just call me. I'll give you my number. Now, why did you want to meet me?"
I replied, "Well... I enjoy your company. I don't have many friends, and I really enjoyed talking with you yesterday. I'd like to be your friend."
Jungkook's face lit up with a smile, but his expression turned more serious, "You want to be my friend? Taehyung, I'm not like your typical guy. I can be dangerous. The guy who approached you earlier, he's my friend. Aren't you afraid that I might do something you won't like? Take advantage of you?"
Shaking my head, I answered, "I don't know why, but since I met you yesterday, I didn't feel scared. There's something comforting in your eyes that makes me believe you wouldn't take advantage of me. Your actions showed that. You could've done something yesterday when I was lost and vulnerable, but you ensured I got home safely. That means something."
Jungkook affectionately ruffled my hair, "So, what do you want to do?"
I shrugged, "I don't know. I've never had many friends. I'm not sure what friends do when they hang out."
Jungkook chuckled, "I haven't had a typical childhood or normal friends either. I'm not exactly sure what 'normal' people do for fun."
"So... since neither of us knows what fun is, let's do something that may not be fun for others but would be for us," I suggested to Jungkook, who nodded in agreement.
"let's just watch something on TV," Jungkook proposed, and I nodded in response.
We settled on some random show that was airing and began watching it. However, my phone rang suddenly, and seeing it was my mother calling, I felt a sudden panic - what was I going to tell her?
Sensing my anxiety, Jungkook calmly advised me to take deep breaths, which I did, and reassured me, "Tell your mom you had some project at school, and you had to stay back to complete it. Don't panic, I'll drop you home. Don't worry."
After taking deep breaths, I answered the call. My mom's worried voice echoed through the phone, questioning my whereabouts. I quickly explained about the lingering project at school, to which she sighed in relief, asking me to return home as soon as possible.
Once the call ended, I walked out with Jungkook. As we strolled down the street, we engaged in casual chatter, sharing bits about our lives. I was so engrossed that I didn't realize we'd arrived at my street until Jungkook dropped me off a little farther from my house.
I waved bye to him and he did the same with a smile. I started walking down the street and reached my house with a huge smile on my face. I opened the door with my key and stepped inside. looking back once before closing the door, I noticed him still standing there waiting for me to go inside. the smile on my face widened and I closed the door after looking at him one last time.
As I stepped inside, the familiar sight of my mother waiting at the dining table greeted me. Her worried expression softened into relief upon seeing me, but there was a hint of concern lingering in her eyes.
"Hey, Mom," I greeted, trying to sound as casual as possible, though I knew she had a knack for noticing when something was off.
"Hey, sweetie," she replied, her tone tinged with a mix of relief and curiosity. "You're home late. Is everything alright?"
I quickly conjured up an excuse in my mind, hoping it would pacify her worries. "Yeah, sorry about that. I had this unexpected project at school that needed finishing. It took longer than I thought."
Her gaze lingered on me, as if trying to gauge the authenticity of my explanation. "Is that so? You should've called. I was worried."
"I know, Mom. I'm sorry. It just slipped my mind with all the rush," I replied, trying to sound as genuine as possible.
She seemed to accept my explanation, though a small furrow in her brow hinted at lingering doubts. "Well, dinner's ready whenever you're hungry."
I nodded and joined her at the table, feeling a mix of guilt for the little white lie and relief that she seemed to believe me. The conversation shifted to mundane topics—school, the day's events, and plans for the upcoming week—as I tried to shake off the lingering tension from the unexpected encounter earlier.
Despite the casual conversation, my mind kept drifting back to Jungkook and the unusual connection I felt with him. I wondered how I could explain this newfound friendship to my mom without raising suspicion. Would she understand? Or would she worry about me getting involved with someone from an unfamiliar background?
As dinner concluded and I helped with the dishes, I mulled over how to navigate this newfound camaraderie while ensuring my mom's peace of mind. The evening wore on, leaving me with a sense of anticipation mixed with a tinge of apprehension about what the future might hold, especially concerning this unexpected bond with Jungkook.
